Reviews of Big Bear Bakery
R. P.
I highly recommend you try the Big Bear Bakery. The cakes and pastries are always amazing. I love the almond croissants, brownies, cookies and cake - everything really! I ordered my son's birthday cake (a Cranachan cake) from here a couple of weeks ago and I put a personalised cake topper on it, and everyone loved it. It was delicious!
S. F.
One of the best bakeries in Glasgow. Everything is fresh and extremely tasty.
I had my first ever empire biscuit (which was amazing) abd i tried the brookie, stuffed brownie cookie (take more than one and thank me later).
There is usually a long queue so be patient waiting at the queue, its really worth it.
Prices are normal and stuff is very friendly. Highly recommended!

Thrilled to have picked up a vegetarian haggis pastry as a traveling non-meat-eater—absolutely delicious! And a gorgeous bramble bostock. I just wish my stomach were larger. Amazing assortment, everything appears to have been executed to perfection. Great coffee too!
R. R.
My first time here and I made it before they sold out of everything! but had sold out of a few things. This was a good thing as I had money left when I left 😁
Super kind and friendly team when I lost my purse. I blame the tastee baked goods.
Have been again, I don't stay on the south side so it must be so great I am willing to travel.
Thank you guys 😊
M. G.
Delicious pastries. Lots of breads to choose. Everything tasty and fresh.

We are big fans of the baked good here and frequent regularly. Not had a bad bun or loaf yet. Coffee also excellent.

Amazing wee bakery near queen's park. A bit of a queue but well worth it. They have some unique cakes!
My favourite is the cruffin.
L. G.
Had a chance to pop in before the queue and loves the overall atmosphere of this tiny place. Filled with pastries (with options for allergens!!) and a warm welcoming team. Truly a true gem! Oh, and did I say the pastries were amazing?
C. B.
Had our wedding cake ordered and delivered from Big Bear and it was super lovely, lemon and blueberry with ribbon effect. Great service and prices compared to other bakeries. Tiny cafe but obviously everyone loves it because it is super busy. Expect queues out the door!
C. M.
Queue moved quite fast but when we were there 12 on a Saturday, it would have been a good half hour plus wait. Everything we bought we would happily recommend.
S. S.
Only one visit whilst visiting family, great wee artisan bakery.
I bought a selection of cakes, not cheap but you can definitely tell the quality over supermarket, so well worth the additional cost.
Please note there are times when the queue's are unbelievable but highlight the popularity of the bakery....Remember once the days stock has gone the bakery closes!!!
A. S.
such an amazing place, with all pastries looking very fresh and staff very friendly. fair price for the quality you get in there. lovely blue cheese and fig foccavio
H. R.
Small shop but obviously a neighbourhood favourite-- line was out the door but moved quickly. Very good cookie, and would go back to try the coffee if in the area.
J. S.
A hidden gem in south Glasgow. An incredible array of quality, baked goods. Added plus is the friendly staff - make sure you make a trip there!
H. L. B.
Visited the new west end shop today ......OMG! Friendly staff, great looking shop and the bakes......so so so good! Brilliant addition to the west! Yuuuum yuuuum yuuuum will see you back in the morning 🙈 …
N. D.
Staff were so kind and helpful! The pastries are absolutely out of this world. A must try if you are in the area!
M. J.
The twice baked almond croissants taste incredible. These guys are genius. Worth queuing for. These are the chocolate knots. Amazing selection.
C. R.
Strongly recommend, good range of pastry’s and breads, good coffee and nice staff.
S. B.
Reviews speak for themselves. Your eyes will be bigger than your belly and that's ok because everything is amazing
G. C.
Opposite where we were staying, couldn’t be more convenient. Excellent croissants, very popular.
E. M.
Big bear has a great variety of cakes, pastries and breads. Also love the coffee
J. M.
This place is amazing!, massive selection of epic baked goods, their savoury sausage rolls are awesome and everything we've bought we've really enjoyed. Be prepared to queue, believe me, its worth it!
J. H.
We had a couple of pies from this bakery for lunch today and they were fantastic as was the date and walnut sourdough bread. Being well travelled and in our sixties we have experienced a fair number of 'Artisan' bakeries and this is certainly up there with the best. Look forward to getting more goodies next time in the area.

I'm lucky to live locally and regularly get to enjoy Big Bear's fantastic bread and pastries (sweet and savoury). It's a little on the expensive side but you don't feel ripped off as the food is very, very good, and you know you're supporting a local business. Supermarket bread simply can't live up to this. My favourites aside from the amazing bread are the pork sausage rolls and the almond croissants. Big Bear also does celebration cakes to order which get good reviews although I've not tried them. You can wait in a long queue to get in (it's always been that way, even pre-pandemic) but again, it's worth it. Always friendly service as well. Keep an eye on their Instagram profile for opening hours and menus. Card only payments.
S. P.
Queue lining up prior to opening hours. Love the pastries!
M. P.
I was called out to a burst pipe tonight as I work for g jassal an all trades company, no way of turning the water off, so the gentleman kindly held towels how so I could get it fixed (now soaked LOL), so, he kindly asked me if I wanted a cake, and OG MY DAYS!!! the almond brownie was delicious!!! Will definitely be going back to try some more cakes! Outstanding
E. S.
A little bit expensive, but you get what you pay for, high quality artisan products.
S. M.
Honestly incredibly delicious. Today I tried the walnut pesto sun-dried tomato focaccia for lunch. Delicious. Fresh. Fantastic. And of course I spent another £15 on pastries and cakes to see us through the weekend. Highly recommend treating yourself to Big Bear Bakery and support this lovely local business.
L. K.
Ordered a lemon meringue tart from Big Bear and it was one of the best I have ever tasted!
R. D.
There's usually long queues early in the morning when it opens but the wait in the cold is worth it.
C. O.
First time visiting, certainly won't be my last. I bought a selection of sweet and savoury treats. Toasted sourdough sandwiches were delightful.
Cruffins, brownies, cinnamon buns and brookies all went down well in our house. Now appreciate why there was a queue down the street, well worth the wait.
K. S.
Fine fresh produce:amazing tastes/textures...
Only drawback the wait till 9am...ha
C. Y.
We ordered pastries and some of the veg sausage rolls. Everything we had was bursting with flavour and fresh. Definitely going to try some more goodies from here.
G. T.
Their lemon meringue pie is to die for. I can't comment on the other products, but if they are anywhere close to the standard of the lemon meringue pie they'll be fantastic. Service was brilliant too. I'd definitely buy from here again!
S. R.
Always busy which shows what a great place this is. Staff were great, went about 3 so a lot of things had sold out. Need to go early. Have ordered online and can't fault anything.😋 …
M. R.
Awesome local bakery which does bread and cakes on Saturday mornings (check their Instagram for times). Big fan of the savory pastries and sausage rolls too. Expect to queue though - it's too popular for its own good!
L. S.
Never really got a pastry or a sandwich that we liked and thought was ok. Everything we have got (and trust me we have got a LOT) HAS BEEN AMAZINGGGGGGGF!!!! their cardamom buns are the best. I love love love them x
C. C.
They are amazing. All their pastries are exquisite. However, i dont think they have all their menu for delievery but only sweet pastries.
J. M.
Just incredible cakes, that simple 😋 …
P. M.
Visited for first time today. Queued for about 30 minutes. Got sausage rolls, flan, carrot cake and jalapeño bread. Everything was astounding - the sausage rolls especially. Couldn't fault it and worth the wait.
T.
Big Bear is seldom open so it's in great demand when it is. We go after the Pollock Park run. The wide variety of baking is undoubtedly excellent but it can be just a bit inconsistent. You have to queue for half-an-hour and we are prepared to do that but I don't understand why the croissants can be one week to die for and the next week just a bit so so.
J. T.
Absolutely incredible food, cakes & pastries
Today we tried
Ham, emmenental, gherkin and mustard baguette. Flavour was fantastic bread cook to perfection.
Lamb Diasahr roll absolutely incredible my husband us a butcher so very fussy with meats and he raved about this.
We bought one of each cake and the brownies are incredible as are the pasties.
Even with parking being an absolute nightmare i'll definitely return
L.
By far my favourite bakery in Glasgow! They always have such an interesting set of baked goods. Even with the lines it's always worth the wait!
L. B.
Omg this bakery was amazing. Everything we had was stunning. Would highly recommend
E. W.
A good addition to the area, however I have a few qualms with the concept. The shop is only open one day a week, I believe the bakers also do wholesale type supplies to other shops in Glasgow through the rest of the week. It would be great if they were able to make the shop a viable business in its own right and expand the hours. Until then the limited opening means that a large queue always forms and the shop sells out quickly so you can queue for a while to have limited choice. The shops online presence bugs me slightly - the weekly supply of instagram stories last for longer than the shop opening hours and when customers question the limited opening the overbearing social media presence will become defensive and it’s very cringey to watch.
The products are hit and miss, some flavours sound great but the execution can be poorly balanced while other items can be great. I had an orange cruffin recently that had far too much creme that was overpowering. If I’m being honest Lidl bakery has more consistent quality and choice for a fraction of the price but I think, for some, the appeal of this place is being able to post pretentious Instagram stories about queueing in the rain for an expensive croissant.
R. Z.
Fab/delicious food, lovely coffee. A real gem, refined after been highly recommended to visit.
S. M.
You cannot go wrong with this place...sweet or savoury: so fresh, highest quality ingredients- there's a reason there's a line down the street every time. Worth the queue, moves quickly...have never been disappointed.
X. R.
Absolutely top class sausage rolls both meat and veggie. Bit of a queue when open but goes fast.
B. K.
The queue out the door on the Saturday or Sunday it opens is enough to tell you that this little bakery is something special. Food is amazing, only gripe is having to wait 20 minutes to get it but they are starting to open on a Wednesday evening so that should relieve some of the pent up demand 👍 …
D. D.
Big bear bakery is a fantastic place to get some nice breakfast 🥐 and amazing sweet treats! Anytime I'm in the area I try to get some. …
P. J.
The best bread I had for a long time!
S. L.
It has lovely cakes and pastries and breads....The only problem is that they only open one day a week. It is very popular as they do vegan and gluten free. It is all tasty and lovely.
R. P.
Their sandwiches are so good. Nice pastries and cakes too. Really long queue but worth the wait
K.
You have to wait in a queue but it is most definitely worth it, the bread is absolutely delicious - best sourdough I've ever tasted or am ever likely to taste.
J. H.
THE bakery of the southside. Great bread and best almond croissants I’ve ever had. Toasties also great
D. B.
I love this wee bakery. Only open on the weekend, it's worth the occasional wait, as every local descends on it. Everything is delicious but get there early!
G. F.
