Can never stop thinking about 2019 Edinburgh Christmas market and coming across Cakes By Rebecca’s old school sponge slice on one of the stalls… I’ve never looked back since! Now she’s stocked somewhere local to me I don’t think I’ll be able to stop my self eating all the stock! It’s a super thick layer of sponge with a really nice sweet icing and sprinkles on the top! One of the best ones I’ve had.

I’ve used Cakes by Rebecca since she first started making commercial cakes from Henderson’s she made my son’s communion cake (amazing) she has became a treat for our family events and Christmas with her cakes decorated for dinner as a family. Staff are always wonderful and kind and great to get recommended new items to try. I cannot say enough !! The store is wonderful also ! The vans are super cute and make good fun spotting around the area as they deliver! Keep it up guys you’ll always have my business !

**edited review and updated** Unfortunately, I have experienced the same issue with last two purchases of Beccas best bakes. There has definitely been a receipe change to the toffee square cake sponge and sauce/caramel and these sadly are no longer as luxurious as previous - possibly to save money which is understandable. I will not be purchasing again sadly. Old school cake still fab and recommended, but icing has been considerably less than previous. Thanks Below was rectified and cakes were sent out by Rebecca which were fab. Thank you. Glad to say the Toffee square on this batch was the original Toffee so I'm glad I must have just got a 'bad' batch. Happy - thank you. Thanks for quick reply. It was Toffee Square in Beccas best Bakes. See pic The best cakes. My favourites are Rebeccas best bites, especially the old school cake and the toffee sponge cake with caramel and tablet. However, had this recently and it tastes like a completely different toffee cake and caramel receipe - possibly a bad batch, but if this is the new receipe I'll not be purchasing again, Its completely different, and tasteless which is very disappointing. Please change the receipe back if you have changed it.

I tend to avoid walking past the shop where these are sold as it's too much of a temptation to go in and buy some. I've tried several different items (the favourites packs, slices, and cake jars) and they've all been incredible. Next time I want to treat myself I know where to head :)

Came in today as over in the area and so glad I did, got myself a good selection and so far everything is wonderful, particularly the lotus doughnut firm fav, was served by a blonde lady didn't catch her name but she was so nice explained what cakes was what and took the time to chat to me and made me feel so welcome shout out to her ❤️ first class service and first class cakes definitely be returning ❤️
