Very very nice pie&mash. Made with care by Tom the owner. Veg pies delicious mushroom & leek his own recipe, much better than meat substitute fillings! Simply heaven on a plate. This place is absolutely amazing, came from north London as we had seen that barneys had such amazing reviews and it did not disappoint. Sadly I wasn’t able to park so my partner had to run in and get the pies but the owner was more than helpful with trying to find us a parking spot but Sadly they were all taken (not his fault). The pie and mash was so good, definitely the best I’ve ever had, the mash was so smooth and the filling of the pie OMG, packed with flavour, I usually use salt on all my food but this didn’t need one bit. The gravy was silky and thick with a rich flavour. WILL BE COMING BACK FOR SURE!!!

Came across Barney’s on JustEat in 2020 and was surprised by how lovely it was! The pies were really fresh and meaty and not burnt like they sometimes are. I’ve converted my whole family to Barney’s and my mum said it is “better than Cookes and Manzes”! I think that comment speaks for itself. God knows how this place was only established a few years ago and it’s better than two of the original east end pie and mash shops!

Had a great lunch at Barney’s today, nice simple meat pies, great flavour, lots of filling… creamy mash and liquor. The chilli vinegar was the perfect accompaniment. Had a good chat with the owner, which was nice as I was dining solo…it made for a bit of a social as we put the world to rights. Will return!

We came across Barney's this week. The pie, mash and liquor was really tasty. The pies were made fresh that morning, and you could tell. Barney is the best host you can hope for. I found his shop quite by chance while riding in the area with my partner, a couple of weeks ago, and what a great surprise. The most traditional, tasty, gorgeous pies, and liquor, I've ever had the luck to experience in London, in a lovely, cosy shop like the ones from books or movies. Everything is hand made, even the chilly vinegar we ended up buying a bottle to bring home. And Barney always has a good story to share, too!! Lovely pie and mash, it really hit the spot. It would have been 5☆ but ran out of stewed eels. If you want the vegetable pie iit is best to ring up first so it is ready for you. You need to look out for shop as it is in a parade between 2 streets. Barney is a friendly chap and well worth a visit.

Great newcomer to the Pie & Mash game in London. Tucked away on the outskirts of Walthamstow, this restaurant could be easily overlooked (don't!!) Proper traditional Pie mash and liqour all handmade on the premises, they even make veggie pies which is handy for me.. Not sure if it's open for take out during lockdown, if it is, order some online and help support your local pie and mash shop during these diffcult times, if not, be sure to pay Barneys a visit when the restrictions are lifted.. Oh yeah, and try the homemade chilli vinegar, it'll put hairs on your chest! 🌶

I'm back on my old manor, and there's a brand-new pie and mash shop here. Barney's Pie & Mash, Walthamstow, E17. If you're in the area, get yourself along to see Tom in his shop. All kinds of pies, including veggie/ vegan, and fruit pies with custard or ice cream as well. The liquor is absolutely first-class, too, and everything is made by hand, in the shop, by Tom. A stone's throw from the old Walthamstow dog track. I've eaten pie and mash for over 30 years, and this is right up there with the best. I'll definitely be back! I can't rate this highly enough.

Had a delicious take-away from this charming, award-winning eatery. Pie was very tasty and satisfying: delicate pastry did not overpower the meat filling; the mash potatoes were comforting, and the two were nicely brought together and complemented by the tangy liquor. Shall definitely be back for more next time I am in Walthamstow and I shall eat in. Barney's Pie&Mash is bright, cheerful and super clean ( it had just had its 5 star hygiene rating renewed); the chef/owner is extremely welcoming, interesting to talk to, a very talented cook, with enormous passion for what he does. I would highly recommend this place.

The prices are excellent value, prepared and cooked by a friendly helpful chap. Manzies in the market, may have gone, but this place curtainly on equal par. Be my local pie mash shop from now on.
