Reviews of Casa Madeira
F. F.
Excellent Portuguese restaurant. Great taste and friendly staff. I recommend. It is not perfect for someone looking for a budget meal, but the food compensated the price.
A. P.
very nice portugese tapas restaurant.
I ate seafood tapas here and was impressed with the big portions and fresh tasty seafood. The clams are particularly nice. Limpets was a unique experience and were good but I probably wouldn't get again just because theyre quite rich and portion was very big. Crispy white bait in a nice batter and again, massive portion.
Service was friendly and fairly fast.
The prices are not like cheap or anything but I would say its reasonable for the area and what restaurant offers. I would definitely go again.
B. 9.
The food was good- fresh and hot - cooked well and we enjoyed everything ordered, at the end everyone was stuffed and had a good time.
We appreciated the waiter suggestions and his friendliness- I will definitely visit again soon.
P. S.
Five star restaurant. Great food, big portions, the food was ready fast, the staff was very nice and polite. The restaurant was really clean and proper Portuguese. Definitely coming back for another nice meal😊 and plus you have a Portuguese shop next door😊
E. P.
A typical portuguese restaurant in London. The outdoor seating area is very pleasant with plenty of shadow for sunny days. Friendly staff, all the food and drinks came as requested. The food as lovely, the octopus was very well made. Only reason to not give 5 stars was the cheesecake, wasn't fresh, you could taste and see that had been made the day before, you can see by the photo the aspect of the strawberries as well. I advice the sangria to drink, very refreshing for a warm day.

A very nice ambience restaurant. The food was good, but not exceptional. The baby chicken looked precooked and not grilled and was a bit bland. The Bifana Special, Chourico assado, Porco Alentanjeno were really good. I felt it was a bit overpriced. However the service was excellent. They also have a cafe and a shop adjacent which you can stroll though while waiting for you food.

It's rare that you go to a restaurant where you order around 10 dishes and each one is 10 out of 10. This was one of these rare experiences at Casa Madeira. Ingredients are super fresh and cooked beautifully. The service is some of the best I have experienced in London. Great house wine, Portuguese beer and a really good, strong espresso. Definitely on my must-visit list, every time I am in London!!
S. Z.
Great Portuguese food, especially the seafood! Friendly service albeit a bit slow.

Excellent service by João Camacho.
The food was delicious and great atmosphere. I 💯 recommend Casa Madeira

I really love Casa Madeira. No matter if I've booked or turn up at the last minute, and often with a large group of people, there is always space, but it's also never quiet. The staff are efficient and friendly and the food is reliable and reasonably priced. It's got a fun and relaxed vibe and does make me feel like I might be in a local Portuguese restaurant.
The food isn't stand out but it's never bad, it's tasty and I always leave with a full belly! I'd recommend as a good spot for food with friends.

Tasty food. Portuguese food well cooked and with Portuguese food. Its a great place to take family. I recommend.
Little bit expensive but still worth if that's not a problem
B. F.
Great place, high class Restaurant, nice people and really good service, it is just 2 Mins walk from Vauxhall Station.
L. N.
Amazing authentic Portuguese food and friendly service. Very reasonably priced too.

10 out of 10 absolutely loved it , these guys know their stuff, yummy yummy yummy 😋
R. M.
Lovely breakfast good quality food and fantastic service very reasonably priced for area
C. P.
Close to the Vauxhall bridge and tube the casa Madeira is an unexpected delight. We stumbled on it and chose to have breakfast in the cafe area but there is also an adjacent restaurant. As far as breakfasts go the options were extensive and ranged from Portuguese options to good old English breakfast. Croissants and pastel da nata were also on the menu along with great Portuguese cakes and fresh orange juice. If you are in the are this is the place to go for breakfast.
J. V.
Value for money and service 5 star! The atmosphere and the seasoning of the dishes can be improved…. I would still recommend a visit!
A. P.
I dined out here for lunch on Bank Holiday Monday with a friend - we found the restaurant pleasant and a great outdoor seating - however the service and the timing was poor. We had to wait almost 1 hr 15 mins for our main courses to be served - the restaurant was not even totally full. The staff seemed to serve all the other tables, but seemingly forgot about us. The starter I ordered arrived with the main, instead of before and they charged us for two bread & olives, instead of just one. The Eat Out to Help Out scheme did reduce the price significantly. Moreover, the quality of the food was very good - the Salted Cod was a large portion, served with potatoes and vegetables.
There is a cafe on the left which serves Portuguese Tapas and coffees/teas, and a shop which has a vast selection of delicacies (Portuguese).
I think I will try the cafe out, but probably not the restaurant again due to the slow service.

Excellent atmosphere, good food 👌

Been coming to this place for about 15 years now and it never disappoints.even after moving out of London we visit most times when we are in town. Food and service is always good. Due to covid they have increased and improved the outdoor seating area and it was a great addition and this time we had a lovely afternoon spent with family. We always have the espertada beef and bacalhau la bras. Our daughter loves the meat rissoles.
K. B.
What a lovely place, had a yummy cheese and ham toastie and tea. Great value. The Toilets were spotless and smelt so clean.

Really enjoyed this place.
There is a lot to be said for a restaurant that makes you feel like you are on your holidays.
We visited on a Saturday early evening (3 adults, one child). We sat outside and you can almost feel as though you are in Portugal rather than Vauxhall. The music was a tad loud initially but the waiter said he would turn it down without us having to mention it. Service was excellent and waiters were very attentive. No separate children's menu but an adult portion from main menu was adapted for our small person, which I find preferable to specific kids food.
Food was lovely with great flavour. Only one negative was that we ordered two steaks, medium done and medium/rare, and I would say both came edging towards blue. I still enjoyed, but my companion was unable to eat his. Bonus for me though, I got it put in a doggy bag and fried it up next day.
I will definitely return.
A. K.
Decent food. Big portions. Friendly staff. Little bit disappointed with white sangria, but in total cannot complain
A. D.
Very good variety of food and nice quality. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Very genuine Portuguese place
P. J. A. C.
Fantastic place! My friend told me this is authentic Portuguese food and she was right. I cannot believe how good it was. Had the best mussels I've ever had. Atmosphere is amazing, live music and it makes you feel like you are somewhere in Madeira. I highly recommend it. In fact, I am telling everybody about it because the experience was unforgettable. I'll be back soon :)
K. K.
Friendliest staff I’ve ever experienced in 20 years in London - our waiter brought us a sample of a dessert so we could see if we liked it before ordering. Decent food and extremely reasonable prices.
L. N.
Amazing authentic Portuguese food and friendly service. Very reasonably priced too.
A. L.
Delicious food. Good service. I suggest trying any of the fish dishes.
D. N.
Found a little Gem, amazing staff and best meal we have had in a very long time
B. F.
Great place, high class Restaurant, nice people and really good service, it is just 2 Mins walk from Vauxhall Station.
L. T.
Great find, lovely sausage sandwich and cappuccino.
S. S.
Classic no frills cafe with the nice twist of Portuguese Madeira flavour. Staff are friendly and lot's of authentic cuisines to choose from at inexpensive prices (especially for London). Recommend the Portuguese tarts and specialties here.
Can get quite hectic there during peak times, which left one of my orders in limbo - though don't let that deter you, still worth it.
K. W.
Cheap and cheerful cafe, lovely prawn sandwich. Visited at 2pm so can't coment on evening menu or atmosphere. Constant rumbling noise of trains, bit you get used to it.
M. F. d. A.
We sat at the Café — more informal than the Restaurant next door — where snacks and smaller dishes and plenty of pastries are served. It is a vast menu, and lots offered ready made on the displays. One pays first at the cashier to get the order brought to the table.
We wanted to have two specialties from O Porto. The Francesinha (meaning “Little French”) is sort of a Portuguese croque-madame served with French fries. Filled with assorted meats, Casa Madeira’s was rather rich in terms of ingredients — just the tomato paste covering it wasn’t much good. The Bifana is a pork steak sandwich, the special version comes with salad within the bread roll. The steak was well seasoned and really tender. Both dishes were really generous in size!
Problem was — none of the dishes was really hot, so that the slices of cheese had not melted (especially on the Francesinha, as one can see in the pics) and still tasted to refrigerator.
J. S.
By far one of the best (if not the best) portuguese food restaurants thatvi have ever been and eat. The food is taste really fresh and the dishes are as close as you can get them in Portugal. I will definetly become a regular on this place
C. D.
First visit here, it was like being back in Madeira again! Excellent traditional Portuguese food and a good wine menu. Will visit again.
R. M.
Lovely breakfast good quality food and fantastic service very reasonably priced for area
M. W.
Overpriced for what is pretty average quality food. It was a busy Friday evening but staff were dismissive and made mistakes, just seemed to want to make as much money from us as possible. Bar closed before 11pm which left us wandering the streets of vauxhall looking for a nightcap. Have had much better experiences with Portuguese restaurants in Stockwell.
E. S.
Good portion of food, fairly priced. The full English veggie option is wonderful.
l. r.
Food is nice, can be a bit pricey for what it is. But non the less I enjoy coming here for a Portuguese foodie fix. It's connected to a cafe and a little shop for all the little Portuguese goodies you need. Lunch and a little grocery shop whenever I visit.
M. B.
Well, what's not to like: the menu is wide and tasty, the beer is cold and Portuguese, the outdoor seating is pretty good and the service is busy, busy, busy. Sandwiches, breakfasts, cakes, tapas - all there, all day so have what you fancy when you fancy it and then....come again for something else on offer. Don't forget a coffee and pasteis de nata
A.
I think so far is the best Portuguese restaurant ive ever tried.
Price:

Fantastic food. Great staff. And able to sit outside in December is a huge bonus!!
M. M.
It's extremely good with an excellent lunch offer. Strongly recommend the buffet with an array of diverse traditional Portuguese cuisine.
H. H.
This is an excellent restaurant and worth a visit if you are in the area. The food is great with lovely attentive service too.
A. H.
Was looking for some cakes for a colleagues birthday. Didn't want to get them from a high street retailer. Got two amazing cakes. Staff in the office were amazed as well. Great tasting. A bit on the dear side but it's pretty much central London. Will defo recommend for cakes.
s. g.
Food is always delicious, service is amazing. My number to go when visiting London
A. S.
Excellent and authentic Portuguese food. A bit expensive. However, it's worth it! I heard they do bbq in the summertime, looking for it to go there in summer 😎!
D.
Staff are very friendly, food came quick and was very tasty!! 5 stars!!
E. M.
Typical Portuguese cafe with large terrace for outdoor seating, in addition to indoor space under the railway arches.
A. f.
Really nice waiter's.... Thanks for the your service and chef's food is amazing flavour... Thanks so much for the hospitality... My regards Antonio d Freitas Viking Cruise Suisse college... Maitre D hotel operation...

Good tasty food, generous portions, food arrived quickly.
Good quality but low prices for central London, excellent value but doesn't feel cheap.
Fast service, starters in 10 minutes and main course in 30 minutes of ordering.

We had dinner here couple months ago, it’s very affordable prices however the taste isn’t so great.
d. l.
10 out of 10 absolutely loved it , these guys know their stuff, yummy yummy yummy 😋
D. Q.
This was the best meal we've had in London. We selected several tapas and Silvio was helpful in helping us choose. The portions were very generous. It was beautiful food made from fresh ingredients. This seems to be real authentic Portuguese food. The desserts are worth going back for also.
u.
Very good vibe and the food was excellent. A little pricey as a dinner for 2 came at 80+ with wine.
F. A.
The best Portuguese restaurant there is , lovely staff, amazing service and the most delicious food
Highly recommend it.
L. P.
The menu looked amazing, that's why we chose to eat here.
Unfortunately the food was awful, we had a fish stew with rice that was bland and one of us had a t bone steak that contained more fat than meat. In hindsight we should have complained as it was expensive too, we would never go again. Staff were lovely though
S. C.
Amazing service ,amazing pastries !
Always available at the last minute .
Highly recommend all the different business, from Deli to Restaurant!
Muito obrigada !
L. B.
Amazing food, fantastic service! We will definitely be back.

Good food. Good value. Trains racing above needs getting used to
C. C.
Absolutely loved this place! It was heated which is great, the food was impeccable and the service top notch! Everyone was so professional and helpful, especially our waiter Alexandre who went above and beyond to make sure we’re taken care of and even offered to bring me a mask after I mistakenly dropped mine on the floor. Deserves five stars because that’s exactly how they made us feel! Very welcoming place, looking forward to go back soon.

Lovely food the service was excellent

Went last night for the first time. It was so much fun it's not only a restaurant with good food, also they had a DJ lots of people we were dancing and having an incredible time. Very friendly staff.
I had a T-bone it was delicious, portions are huge, good wine and sagres beer.
We'll be back for sure
M. F.
It's such a lively place on a Saturday night. But pretty much every Saturday they have a wedding or a birthday celebration so it's always recommended to book 2 weeks in advance. The food was great, the Portuguese wine really good and the staff very friendly. I recommend the Espetadas meat dish, it's incredible!
E. B.
Fantastic from the beginning. Saturday evening so was very busy. We were seated immediately. Our server, Alex, was attentive, honest and efficient and recommended based on our food preferences.
The food arrived quickly, and our child's food came with the starters as requested. Highlight was the flaming chorizo, which was cooked in front of us.
Mains were also cooked very well. Our daughter had the richest carbonara we've ever tasted and I had rare fillet steak which was slightly too salty for my taste but still excellently cooked and very moist.
Alex went out of his way to help and make our experience one to remember including engaging with our daughter, and giving us an extra dessert to takeaway.
If we were staying longer, we would definitely be back, it was superb.
K. K.
delicious food and great staff but decor... that's the part which should be improved!!
T. F.
I had lunch here with a group of 6 and the staff was really friendly and the food was delicious. My only complaint would be that the bread wasn't fresh, but that didn't ruin the experience in any way.
M.
Lovely food, lovely staff!

Wow . I really liked this place. Simple food seasoned well .
K. S.
Been a few times, had tapas style dishes this time around. Gnocchi and batatas bravas were really good, prawns were a little lacking in flavour. Best dish I’ve had so far are the skewers, have the skewers. Great place to go to when the Portuguese football team are playing!
J. T.
Great spot with outside seating to get coffee and pastel de nata. Also a cosy spot to eat in out of the rain
R. G.
Very fantastic and tasty food. Excellent service Thank you so much!
R. S.
Convenient Portuguese coffee house, staff were not happy about us splitting the bill. .

A lovely terrace, hot frothy coffee and great service. In the heart of London. Not much more to ask for really.
N.
Nice place, staff were friendly and patient. Food was decently priced for London
P. R.
Everyone is awesome. Friendly and understanding. A very good night.
M. C. T.
Excellent choice! From frozen to fresh cakes baked on the premises
P. M. (.
Took more than an hour for the food to come and when it finally came they put a sauce I asked to remove so I had to send it back. The place is nice and I believe the service was worst due to places re opening after a long lockdown but still, 3 stars are appropriate.
D. R.
This is a fantastic, authentic Portuguese/Madeira restaurant. Their menu is superb, great selection of tapas, meat and fish dishes. Also, worth looking at their wine selection with some hard to find Portuguese wines which just makes the experience 10 times better. Their staff are super friendly, and have great knowledge of their food. And don't forget to grab some pastel de nata on your way out to take home! Will definitely be coming back 😊
g. m.
Great traditional Portuguese food, good service and venue.
Can’t wait to buy some specialty foods from the deli 😃
P. R.
Great food and service! On Saturday evening they have live music entertainment. Go there and enjoy! You won't be disappointed!
M. F.
We had a nice experience for the most part. Fortunately, my girlfriend doesn't speak or understand Portuguese so she didn't hear the South African/Madeiran waiter telling the table behind me about his little fantasy of wanting to slap me for the way I speak, while apparently informing me that I'm not black. However, she definitely felt the lack of respect and disdain in his tone from having to serve an African American female. You can take the cigano out of Johannesburg... he's definitely letting the place down.
J. S.
Traditional Portuguese cafe, connected to a restaurant and shop. Opens till late. Good place to enjoy a “pasteis de nata” or the traditional Belem’s custard cake.
R. G.
Very nice outdoor space. The staff is fantastic and friendly. The best espresso and coffee in the area as well as a nice choice of Mediterranean/Portuguese cuisine. I recommend.
a. f.
Passing by with few friends saw this queue of people waiting for a table. Well we did the same and what a marvelous place to have a meal .food was superb ,cocktails where amazing ..service was top notch ..will be back definitely ..
D.
Casa Madeira is a tale of two cities, you've got great food at fair prices that caters for a variety of options (although not for vegans unfortunately).
While food is great the service is the biggest impact to the restaurant as it's just shockingly slow, this might be a result of the COVID-19 challenges which places have adopted but it makes dining here a time consuming affair.
Also the restaurant does provide Eat Out to Help Out, but double check your bill as they didn't apply the discount for all 3 diners and only took one amount off, but because of the delay in service we just wanted to go instead of challenge it.
M. C.
The Portuguese custard tarts and coffees are very very tasty! I visited Cafe Madeira for some coffees during a work event yesterday. I ordered 5 coffees and the kind gentleman gave me five complementary Portuguese pastries with them! A few hours later, my team had no cutlery for lunch, I popped in to see if they had any. He gave me 8 sets of knife & forks for free too (I did offer to pay but he insisted!). I was astounded by this kindness, especially during these difficult times where I imagine there are not too many customers. Thank you so much!!
M. C.
Great spot
Good food
Good service
Good location
Z. A.
Really nice atmosphere, delicious food and great service. Highly recommended.
J. O.
good outdoor seating, tasty food, friendly efficient service but did not feel rushed. Pastel de nata and a glass of Madeira were a perfect end to the meal
N. C.
The food is great and the portions are generous. Can be a little pricey, but it reminds me of my family's cooking, so it's really all worth it. There is a Cafe to the one side of the resturant and a Portuguese grocery shop attached to the other selling all things from Portugal. They also sell alcohol. I have still yet to try the outside seating area, as it looks quite nice. It's always been raining when I go though.
The staff is very friendly and all speak Portuguese 🇵🇹
My only criticism is that there is a LOT of single use plastics being used which can 100% be avoided. When they serve sauces it comes in a plastic cup, the tomato sause is in plastic sachets, the shop has plastic grocery bags and the take away food box was a plastic box, wrapped in cling film, put in a plastic packet. It REALLY is unacceptable in this day and age, I feel.
M. M.
Hot chocolate = delicious. Seating inside or out = perfect. Nice atmosphere during the day or night. Relaxing especially during the evening. They also do buffet but not much to choose from.
A. N.
Awesome place to sit in the sun with beer and food, very friendly staff. During these "unprecedented times" they've managed to hit a great middle ground between welcoming, hygienic, attentive and socially distanced. When so many places in London are either closed or flouting the rules, Madeira smashes it :)
E. 7.
I have been to Casa Madeira for lunch with friends, it was my second time.
Very good portions, tasty food and very friendly and efficient service!
OK value, but this is London ...
p. h.
You have to try the legendary custard pie here. Very tasty!
R. M.
One of my favourites! Full of character, proper old London family restaurant. Huge plates of food . You are best ordering Portuguese. Pizza was a bit too cheesy! Staff are great
D. C. A.
We were lucky to see this restaurant. Wide variety of food choices. As this is a Portuguese restaurant, we opted for grilled cod fish and octopus with onions, potatoes and veggies. The servings were big enough to feel full. Clean place and friendly waiter. Ours speak Portuguese, Spanish and English. Highly recommended.
L. N.
Probably the best place to go for Portuguese groceries in London.
The typical Portuguese place where you can feel at home. Hope the restaurant gets to open again soon.
Z. N.
Today we did visit the restaurant because we really wanted to eat beef (Portuguese bitoque) we requested very well done and medium for each, but then the beef came completely raw, we asked the staff member if they could cook a bit more our beef, when the staff member (she was very kind girl) asked the chef through the window we saw how the chef took our plates very angry and complaining as like we were asking something wrong, the chef was very rude and unpleasant, when our dish came back the beef was still not well done, then we asked for help, the only reason I put 4 starts and not 1 it’s because Alexandre one of the staff members solved the problem the best way possible, he was very kind and understandable and he was the only reason why we just didn’t leave the restaurant. Thank you very much Alexandre for your service we really appreciate.
C. C.
Food was perfect, bit delay with the attention as the place was full and little staff.
But the staff was always friendly and food as always so good.
Worth it 👌
M. S.
I liked the place a lot, it is no frills for sure, but very charming with the older Portuguese ladies cooking in the kitchen and their food was great!
K. R.
Popped in for a quick vino, couldn't finish it, not to my taste
J. P. L.
Its is very nice restaurant :D very typical, style of Madeira island :) seems a busy restaurant :) nice food, fresh food and nice desserts too :D
J. R.
First time at this restaurant but left disappointed with the quality of the food.
Welcome with lack of warmth
No area to place your coat. Have to use the back of the chair.
Service was good. Waiters Very attentive to detail.
Food ordered not great. Not much flavour. Menu says “grilled” but presented deep fried
Desserts not great either.
Overall too expensive for what is offered.
Will not repeat the experience.
A. R.
Very good food! Excellent wine? 😍
M. B.
Big selection of food, freshly made, good service. We eat here at lunchtime every week, we find the staff are friendly and fast. If the sun's out there are tables outside. The associated deli next door has a big selection of Portuguese food items.
S. G.
Good close coffee shop near to where I lìve. Can eat inside or outside or takeaway, staff are pleasant and ready to deal with you in a polite manner. It makes you wander if we are actually on the train's above. Sometimes can be a bit noisy.
S. M.
really tasty food and wonderful service:)will def go back !
M.
Lovely food, lovely staff!
D. G.
is a place where you can find traditional dishes from Portugal and Madeira Island and with a mini market where you can buy Portuguese products and some traditional Madeiran products.
M. G.
Best place in London to eat fish. Nice environment. Not elegant but for easygoing dinner is great
B. A.
This is about the restaurant, not their Deli/Cafe next door. Restaurant food is good. But they charged 2.5GBP for the bread that was kept on the table before the actual order was served. I have never seen any restaurants charging for this as everywhere else this comes complimentary. At least they should have mentioned about the charges upfront. The waiters are friendly and good location.
H. H.
Food and service were good. I found a hair in my pizza but the incident was handled well by staff. The tables are very closely packed and there is quite a lot if train nose by the overhead tracks. Overall a good time though
A. W.
A place under railway arches which should offer plenty of ambience, but the décor is rather bland. On the plus side the food was very tasty and the wines on offer delicious. The service not particularly friendly or helpful. (A finger bowl requested was served with scolding hot water ouch!)once the music stated it was hard to hold a conversation. Not sure we will return.

If you're interested in food that has some flavour, the best pastel de nata in London or just looking for an authentic Portugal ethnic food experience, this is your spot.
F. S. M.
Very much enjoyed this place! Maybe because I’m Portuguese :)
Dish for 2person looks like for 4people! (That type of place)
D. Z. M.
A really amazing place for both Portugese origin people and people who loves good dishes that served in style and provided in an authentic Madeiran atmosphere.
Nice selection of wine, food, live music, really close to public transportation too, easy to access and very friendly welcoming on arrival!
D. M.
Love this place. Coffee is really cheap and lovely and the staff are classic Portuguese. Some people interpret it as rude but it's the Portuguese way! Nice selection of sandwich's and the salads are massive and delicious. Quite often go here for lunch although I wish they would fix the extractor fan as my clothes always smell like a deep fat fryer after I've left
D.
Customer service was great. Food was also really good 👌🏾
G. P.
A quick visit to the coffee shops at this large shop including a proper restaurant plus a very good Portuguese food retail area. But the coffee shop was quite busy, we had to wait in front of the desk, the coffee they served is very good unfortunately they have just one regular cup shape. For the the sweets, I took a very nice creamy coconut cake and my two guests two different pastries which were unfortunately dry and quite old. Sometimes it's happened. The bill was alright. We will return.
H. R.
the best Portuguese restaurant in London, traditional food and very good service
S. A.
Large sitting area, inside and outside terrace. Did not tried the food but plenty of people eating and seem enjoying it.
Prices for drinks pretty spicy though
R. D.
Very average expensive food. Not coming back
A. W.
There are three options here the cafe on the left facing the arches for coffee and snacks, the cafe restaurant for meals and drinks and the deli for takeaway food. We went for the restaurant option sat outside and had a beef steak sandwich and chips and a plate of grilled sardines with a pint of Sagres beer and a glass of wine. The service was good, the bill came to 25 pounds including service and we throughly enjoyed it. We have used the Maderia often when in the area and have not been let down yet.
A. H.
Great food reasonable prices good service will definitely go in again when in the area
P. G.
We had incredible seafood and very good wine! Price is fair and great service!
P. M.
Beautiful breakfast, lovely coffee . There is a great selection of other foods available both sweet and savoury. I have never had a bad meal here😁. Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is great. I would recommend that anybody try.
B. D.
Simply the best place for breakfast on Sunday morning (or any morning or brunch) great value too!
P. C.
Best Portuguese restaurant in London by a long shot
M. F.
On a sunny day on London, eating outside here felt about as close as it is possible to get to Portugal at the moment. Simple, beautifully cooked sardines and prawns, and a pint of Sagres. The inside looked very typical of my experience of Lisbon. Keen to return.
S. S.
This was a cute little Portuguese Pub and restaurant. We didn't eat in the restaurant but in the Pub part (actually outside on the patio). The food in this part wasn't Portuguese but more like a grill with sandwiches and they have a big English breakfast. We read online I think that they serve that all the time but they actually didn't. Sandwiches were decent and they had good beer selection and a nice patio.
G. P.
A real asset to the area, with a strong Portuguese character and community. I always go there for breakfast during the weekend to have one of their delicious pastries and coffees. Nata cake is a must have! A wide offer for lunch and dinner as well. I really like their delhi shop with typical products from Mediterranean areas. Wish there could be more like this in London!
P. H.
Large local cafe type restaurant. The mains were great here - good, hearty, home-cooked feel to the dishes, with generous portions. The desserts, however, were not great, and felt like they had been mass-produced. Nice waiters, and good side outside for the rare occasions when we have good weather in this country!
Y. R. d. S.
Friendly staff and a café with great options of Portuguese, Brazilian and British food for great prices and a great "homemade" taste. The annex shop has also many products from Portugal and Brazil which you would have trouble finding elsewhere, and also for very reasonable prices. Highly recommend!
A. R.
Good service, very friendly staff.
j. p.
Nice place to chill and have lunch 🙂
J. K.
A hidden gem in the Vauxhall neighbourhood. A few of the most memorable meals in London were here. Here you get great food, great service and great value. What more can you ask for in a restaurant?
It has a very authentic, simple feel to it. And it seems like a great community place. The restaurant fills up quick on weekends and live music extends long into the night.
Very highly recommended. Order 1 of each tapas if you're with a group of 2-4 and you'll have a wonderful night.
T. S.
The portions are incredible! We had the meat skewers and the salt cod hash with eggs and potatoes. Plenty of Polenta, trying saying that with your mouth full. Very good stuff, traditional Portuguese vibes.
J. R.
It was my second time visiting this place. It's offers a good variety of food and buffet. Absolutely loved it.They also have a little store next to it with Portuguese products and not expensive. The place was full but staff managed well all costumers around.Central London but a good area to have lunch with family and friends. Good selection of beers and wine.Definitely will go back.
L. G.
Always great to be here
Nice food, lovely atmosphere, good attendance for all.
C. v. C.
This lovely squeaky clean place shows a lovely side of Portugal. Even though I clearly and visibly am not Portuguese, staff and guests exude a warm and very welcoming atmosphere. One immediately somehow feels at home there. A very authentic and highly recommended place.
J. H.
Great food, great service, great wine. Really good food, highly recommended
j. p.
Delicious food! Great service !!
m. i.
Great atmosphere, good food and drink .
Loved it
B. R.
A great local Portuguese restaurant in Central South London. Great local food, great portions and live music! I always get the oven-baked salt cod!
N. V.
Amazing food and great wine!
A. T.
It's not the first time I have visited the place for lunch and can say that it feels like the food got even better since my last visit. Try it out and make your own judgements. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. ot over or under cooked. Good size portions. Also very reasonably priced.
Á. F.
Delicious dishes, good service
M. N. G.
Great place to get your Portuguese supplies. Even some Brazilian items also. Staff very friendly and even helped us to take our groceries to the car. Got 6 custard tarts for free too for spending a fair bit there. Result 👍
A. S.
A Portuguese restaurant were you can eat Portuguese food very well made.
K. R.
Plenty of options. Good for all day breakfast.
c. p.
Great atmosphere, reasonable prices, excellent quality in food and drinks...
Good Madeira spirit...
Excellent
V. T.
Great food, drink & atmosphere 🍹👌 Feels like your on holiday 😁
m. f.
Best food
Perfect service
Definitely worth trying
D. C.
All day cafe. Great value, portions and quality. Great selection of cakes. Very clean and Covid-19 Safeguarding.
K. H.
Great place in a good location. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Often go there for a bite to eat and do some work. Good selection of hot and cold food as well as hot and cold drinks. The staff are pleasant and bring your food to the table once orders. Would recommend
D. S.
Well run Portuguese family cafe (and restaurant, and deli).
I took a friend there today for her first time. She loved the selection.
I. E. B.
Great food, however I think it is very pricey compared to other portuguese restaursnts in the area.
The restaurant in itself is very cheesy in terms of decoration and they always have either the football on or terrible "pimba" music.
Still worth it for the food.
A. O.
Came here for lunch with some work people, had the jacket potato with beans, and it was lovely. Quick service, nice staff with a massive selection of food.
They also have a bar and do cocktails...
G. O.
Very good restaurant, good food, good service and reasonable prices. Its literally the only portuguese restaurant that i can say "its safe to eat" believe me when i say "ive seen things" lol. Green light for this one people!
g. r.
Lovely, great food
R. R.
A large group of colleagues came for dinner and a drink.
Paying individually or per couple wasn't allowed, causing disputes afterwards.
The food was good and there was music and dancing.
It was quite busy and crowded, especially on the dance floor.
The service was really good and staff were friendly.
M. L.
I like this restaurant for its atmosphere.
The food is great and authentic and service is friendly.
It is clearly a restaurant/café/shop where Portuguese people living in London go to, celebrating birthdays or watching a match of football. As it is a big restaurant, you can always find a quie table if you wish.
The food is homely and tasty.
I also discovered this summer that it was a nice place for drinking a beer with friends quite late. They have a terrasse un front of the restaurant and they close quite late.
A.
I love these guys, plenty of character, you have the prison lunch lady who never smiles, the joker, the no jokes but cool guy. Their food is good, unless you ask for stuff off the menu, i.e peri peri chicken. Good size portion, but man is it terrible. I've eaten better from a burger van in a side street with £1 burgers. Hard chicken, certainly microwaved or left over from the night or few nights before.
Keep to the sandwiches, panini's, breakfasts etc and you'll be fine. Deserts are good, depends on the day though. They don't like to throw away stuff and you could end up with stale croissant.
K. G.
Good food nice staff and good prices. You will not be disappointed if you venture to this place. It's one of those places that once you have been you will look forward to your next visit as the choice and quality of food service and price will leave your tummy and pocket very happy.
A. D. V.
Good food...good people...will be back definatley...travelled all the way from milton keynes.
F. A.
Great food and service.
F. H.
Huge, delicious portions for very reasonable prices. I recommend to go here.
R. H.
Good coffee and pasta de nata, Poncha was trying a bit too hard and over did it with the ol' agua dente a little bit, still a nice little taste of the island.
Cakes were a little pricey but we shall return to try the other fare and I may experience the Francesinha next time. Full low down to follow.
D. C.
A very complete venue where to have a fine dinning, club at night, grab a beer or simply get a nice cup of coffee, their inventive three stores distribution is very convenient to allow customers to take the best advantage of the stablishment at any time of the day.
J. H.
Portuguese restaurant in the heart of vauxhall, good selection of hot meals.
S. C.
A little bit of Portugal in Vauxhall. Sit outside, grab a cafe con leche and a pastel de nata, and dream you're in Lisbon...
A. S.
Great personable service with fresh food
S. Z.
I've been eating and drinking here for a couple of years as I work locally and once you're a regular, you're treated like family. You can either drink (and eat) in the bar area or sit in the restaurant for a full table service experience. I would highly recommend the seafood here and if you're into your meat, try the Espitada Mista. The portion sizes are very large so make sure you turn up hungry. They have a good selection of desserts also or if you want something on the go, you can enter the supermarket next door or the cafe and pick up Portuguese favourites or Portuguese tarts! Good selection of British and Portuguese beers here at really good prices. The house wine really packs a punch but is recommended if you like a drink. On Friday night's, they are open late and a lot of Portuguese locals come in as the bar area turns into a disco. Everyone is very friendly especially if you're willing to dance. Prices here are very good especially for what you get for your money. Could not recommend a better place to visit in Vauxhall.
C. F.
Great food. Reasonably priced. Good location. Love the tables and chairs outside. Overall, brilliant place if you just want a quick coffee or something more.
J. H.
Went here for tapas once - it wasn't bad. Presumably more of a Portuguese than Spanish theme here, but I couldn't see a huge difference in the dishes we ordered. A bit cheaper than what you might find North of the river.
L. R.
Great authentic food. The food is great, portions big, atmosphere down to earth. Unlike so many other places this is really a relaxed place to have a good meal. Highly recommend it
I.
Great outdoor seating. The waiters speak to you in Portuguese if you speak the language yourself.
J. I. C. U.
Nice and friendly staff, good food, cool and nice terrace..worth visit!
B. M. d. C.
Very nice people but expensive
F. W.
Food was fantastic. Can be dining with large groups who ? provided entertainment. Wasn't expecting to have a dance. But dance we did.
A. W.
Seriously delicious.
C. D.
Amazing Portugese restaurant and food. The service is really good and the food.. fantastic
Going back for more
m. f.
Great restaurant with very lively athmosphere. Friendly staff that will accomodate any extra requests not on the normal menu. The restaurant also has a bar and a comprehensive wine list, beers and cocktails. There is also a cafe where you can get your morning pastries and coffee.
C. B.
Chilled and friendly✌️🍺
D. B.
Love this place. Great buffet dinner available every day at a reasonable price. The staff are great too, down to earth and super hard working!
M. D.
A nice, friendly Portuguese cafe and bar along the Albert Embankment. Good for an after work drink during the summer months as there is an outdoors drinking area. There is a happy hour Monday to Friday.
D. c.
Great variety of hot and cold meals, sandwiches and snacks. Quick service and value for money. There's not alot they don't do, and their custard tarts are legendary.
L.
Portuguese food at its best but a bit pricey though. Stay in for a Saturday eve dinner with bacalhau and casal Garcia wine, after that a Portuguese style expresso followed by Porto wine, one of the best experiences in a Portuguese restaurant. There is live music after 10pm, kids are allowed before that as this is a family place.
J. W.
Amazing service, amazing food.
O. S.
Good food, just a little pricer than I would have thought as it's not a posh place. The market shop that joined to it has some cool stuff
L.
Great atmosphere. Food on the expensive side but good. Great to have somewhere where all ages can dance the night away after if they want.
M. “. D.
I came here to meet a friend for lunch and to catch up. I waited 45 minutes for her and during that time I observed the staff bringing out orders to the customers at their tables outside where I was sitting as well. My table was dirty and no one came round clean it. After 30 minutes I went inside to order a coffee, which they brought to me outside! What happened to my friend? It turned out that she was waiting for me at another cafe in the area with Madeira in its name!😅
s. D.
Great staff excellent service and espresso is always consistent. I have been coming for years and it always gets better.
Weldone Madeira.
D. N.
Super tasty food and really friendly staff!
l.
This place makes you feel at home.
For a spanish guy like me that has been living in London for almost 8 years already, every now and then it is good to have that spanish/portuguese small town bar feeling.
The food is ok and cheap
C. B.
Good fi and lovely atmosphere ☺️😋
F. C.
My third visit. Each time I found it a very nice place to go to with a friend. It covers 3 premises at Vauxhall : A restaurant (good food), a surprisingly well stocked shop and a large cafe which is well patronised in which to take time in.
B. C.
Best restaurant we came across in London!!!
We walked everywhere and even used Google for recommendations. The food was incredible!!! The service was excellent!!
Thank-you to the owner and staff for everything !!!
C. M. H.
Excellent fresh fish
A. S.
I went here for breakfast and ordered a full English. While it may not be the most authentic spot they offer superb service and a good value for fulfilling food. One huge plus is the fact that they have superior hours in a location that is a bit underserved.
C. P. V.
I’m Madeiran so coming here is a taste of home, yummy traditional dishes & friendly staff!
K. S.
Great, friendly service. Amazing food (try the chicken Piri Piri) and delicious Sangria. There is a little shop attached with fantastic pastries as well.
T. R.
Great place to visit while in London. Loved the breakfast. Very cozy, not big or fancy, but the food and the service is great. Will be back when we visit London again.
F. U.
Very nice Portuguese food in Vauxhall area. Delicious and cheap
G. T.
Same awful Portuguese coffee. They never seemed to get it right. The deli is amazing though. Worth a shop for their meat.
S. S.
Beautiful shop, all fresh food. Loved
J. H.
best place inside the M25
F. S.
Very nice place to go if you like the type of buffet food. The cooking is based on portuguese food and the price is £9.95, quite affordable. Friendly staff.
I. G.
Excellent garlic bread with tradicional bread from Madeira!!
o. p.
Amazing location, great food and stuff! Recommended!
j. H.
What a lovely night! A gem of a place - great whitebait and gambas, all served with fresh bread and sardine pate, lovely steak, fresh salad, douro red wine, lovely double espresso, lively, friendly atmosphere, large port, great service, music intil 3am (didn't last that long, me 11.15, but if you fancy) Great stuff - definately on the list for future nights out.

Simply and efficiently. The food is always delicious. From simple sandwiches to big dishes. Portuguese style and variety... And is not expensive also.
d.
Massive portions and great tasting Portuguese food. Lively atmosphere and has a Portuguese supermarket attached to it to pick up more Portuguese goods to take home with you
t.
For place and food I need to give 5 stars but there is one but. With my meal everything was perfect but my girlfriend has found 2 hairs in her chicken so i need to take 2 stars for it.
C. N.
You eat well but you have to be prepared and have time because the service is slow
B.
Reasonable priced, good coffee and food. Good customer service
T. Z. T.
good service, tasty food and reasonably priced
E.
Nice Portuguese restaurant and cafè. Lots of specialities at modest prices. Good spot for a quick drink and tapas. Also on location a grocery and delicatessen shop selling typical Portuguese and Italian products.
S. D.
Really friendly staff and good quality food. The Portuguese specialities are grwat. Has a large outdoor space to sit and watch the world go by. The interior is really dated though and like a greasy spoon.
C. K.
Very impressive Portuguese-style cafe. Great range of snacks and meals, good value. You can just have a coffee or a complete meal. Friendly staff.
G. U.
Great Portuguese pub, it has something different compared to the rest of the pubs around.
Nice outside area and food look tasty( I didn't eat but I will one day )
T. L.
Very nice place to eat. Food very good nice staff
K. R.
Great Portuguese cafe/bar serving proper Portuguese coffee and cakes and meals along with fry ups etc! Next door is a little Portuguese supermarket selling Portuguese stuff! It's basically Portugal but in Vauxhall! Oh and they have Sagres on draft!
M. M.
Portuguese food you enjoy and feels like you are in Lisbon. The staff were very nice.
t. k.
Lovely outside space, food and prices are great, suitable for families
G. C.
This is a fabulous Portuguese cafe with lovely pastries. Reminds me of my trip to Northern Portugal. Does sandwiches and breakfasts too. Friendly staff.
E. E. S.
I like very much the shop. They have all the Portuguese and Brazilian also but the Team Members look like they don't care about the customers. They are cold and snobby.
J. B.
Great service and attention! Delicious Portugues food!
j. b.
Nice food & a family atmosphere
P. P.
Very friendly place, very good food and really good if you are Portuguese and want to have a chat with someone from home! Will come back definitely!!
E. M.
We had the pizza. It was excellent. The service was also great. The house wine is Portuguese and is really very good.
T. W.
Extremely expensive for the quality good provided. Meals arrived cold and presentation was nothing better than meals served at home. Veggies seemed to be frozen rather than fresh.
T. F.
Good coffee and good food. Could do with an aesthetic upgrade. Good place to go when I'm feeling nostalgic. Also a good selection of Portuguese products in the delicatessen area.
A. S. L.
Quality independent restaurant serving fresh and very high quality ingredients. Due to the small staff number the service is personal and honest with genuine care and passion.
Z. A.
The foods are excellent and the tablet are comfortable to spend time. lt stands under the train- railroad and that's why you may talk loudly. l do advice the restaurant.
J. J.
I love the very helpful waitstaff and the food is delicious. It's a Portuguese style place with plenty of options. Price is great too.
V. P.
Great food and familiar atmosphere. Lovely place for family lunch and gatherings.
W. B.
Great food, great service, great setting. These guys know what they are doing
J. Y. D. S.
Very crowded, impossible to sit there. Long hours waiting for a table.
J. M.
Great coffee. Well designed outside space. Helpful staff
I. M.
The food wasn’t great and the waiters were too busy to care. It wasn’t the finger licking yummy experience you get at the other Portuguese restaurants in the same area. Try the other Portuguese places around.
L. R.
Great family friendly restaurant. Good food. Large portions and dancing to Portuguese hits. Food and drink reasonable for London
L. W.
Typical portuguese food, well cooked, tasty
Ox tongue, tripe and beans stew and bacalhau definitely to be tried
Great coffee and delicious pasteis de nata
E. G.
The food was very nice and the staff were very friendly. Feels like in Portugal!
M. M.
Portuguese food all around, great delicious products.
D. K.
Always great coffee the custard tarts are superb
A. C. L. Á.
The caldo verde and prego are great but there is still room for improvement. A bit overpriced for the type of venue it is but great to watch Portuguese football matches!
J. M.
Nice coffee, amazing pastel de nata. Service was a bit disorganised. Worth it for the food and coffee.
M. V.
The food is great but there could be some improvements on the restaurant. Anyway I always happy to go there for portuguese food
C. P.
Very pleasant, staff really friendly and helpful. I've been coming here specially when I come to London for many years. Great coffee food and prices.

R. W.
Excellent, good food, clean, service excellent, staff friendly. Reasonably priced. Best cafe around.
d. H.
Fantastic food and atmosphere, friendly courteous staff, and amazing value for money.
S. W.
Been here many occasions at all times of day. Breakfast pricey but luncheons are reasonable for London. Extremely authentic and would highly recommend.
N. A.
Decently priced for the area, would not recommend the lasagna as it tasted like it was been cooked last week. The entertainment saved it as well as their club sandwich.
G.
The food was nice and it was a reasonable price. It gets busy at lunch though, so don't leave it too late.
T. F.
Have gone there many times. Portuguese people. Good service and food. Prices can be abit on the heavy side but that's London for you.
B. V.
My go-to place in London for octopus. Of course you can have a number of fish dishes, mostly cod and delicious BBD meats! Perfect location for a walk by the river afterwards.
A. R.
The food is amazing, the service is so nice and it's like going back home to Portugal for a little while 😍
C. S.
Fantastic. The fish was very fresh but for me the food was a little bit bland. Staff very helpful and friendly.
R. F.
Nice pourtughese restaurant with live music. I suggest bacalau.
K. P.
My first Portuguese experience in London. The food is good and fresh but a little too pricey. The staffs are very friendly.
P. A.
Had a lovely meal in here, staff were attentive and food was good could have just done with a little more choice but that may just be a personal thing.
H. P.
Good food at very reasonable prices. The pastries are to die for and if you want a quick snack... The special prego is a must.
E. A.
A very honest place for lunch and dinner. This time we used the dinner for the all you can eat buffet for 9.95.
D. T.
Cute Italian cafe and sandwich bar. They're a bit quirky and you spot a few things they could do better but it's a nice experience and I'm happy to continue to use them
L. S.
Very good price for middle of London, service is very fast and food taste very nice (donuts are the best).

J. C.
Very good and friendly, lovely food
M. D.
Casa Madeira is a nice place to sit and enjoy good food and drinks. Nice seating area outside too.
A. S.
If you want to have a real taste of Portugal, enjoy amazing food and have the best service in town then...what are you waiting for?
R. C.
Good food. Nice ambient, topically Portuguese, meaning you'll have portuguese football teams playing on the TV... Or some "novela" 😖
A. G.
Love going here because it reminds me of home, love the food and atmosphere. It is a little bit pricey but worth it.
A. A.
I just had an excellent massage. I really recommend this place. 5 star treatment.
The place is not 5 star butt the treatment is.
L. N.
I tried the buffet but it was probably a mistake: soggy fried food, sour tomato sauce, overcooked rice.
Salads look better to be honest.
S. C.
good quality food, my favourite restaurant in Vauxhall.
the staff are really friendly.
Five stars from me
R. V.
Great place to taste Portuguese food and with live music and disco at Fridays and Saturdays. A must-visit!
C. P.
Traditional and tasty Portuguese food! We love the "arroz de marisco"

Restaurant is excellent as well as the service and the snack bar next door. By the other hand the deli is ridiculously overpriced.

Just had drinks outside as no time for food which was a shame because looked lovely and reasonable priced.
F. F.
Better on a Friday or when it's crammed with locals as it gets wild with music and dance!:)
Otherwise pretty average and too
ن. ا.
Great food... Nice service... they have grilled salamone with some vegetables...
A.
-Service was excellent
