Reviews of Christopher's

Just happened to be delivering a few doors away, got a take away soya latte, must say best coffee I've tasted in yonks, nice interesting shop, polite lady serving, reasonably priced, no frills... we must support our independent deli's .

Best bread and Coffee in this area by a mile.
Great selection of lovely bits get my curry jars here as well. So good!!!
Staff are lovely and understandably doing their best with Social Distancing and have set up everything as best they can. Service can be slow but only one staff member working completely understand. It is worth the wait!
Just thinking about their bread makes my hungry.

It’s amazing. The bread is so nice, the people are wonderful and the pastries are great. There’s gonna be a queue when you get there but it’s there for a reason and well worth the wait. Cinnamon buns are amazing and I love the croissants. They also sell really nice bits and bobs in there and i bought some amazing jam to go with the croissants.

Just stumbled over this gem of a place. Having treated myself to a delicious brunch of fluffy scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on nutty bread I am stuffed. Shame really, as I've just spotted something mouthwatering on their lunchtime specials board that would go rather spectacularly with one of the impressive selection of wines they've got. If only I'd been born a lady who lunched!! I'll be back with friends. Thank you.

This is a lovely cafe / deli. I must confess that I haven't yet tried their bread, though it seems very popular and there's a lovely range. But the coffee is super, the pain au choc I had this morning was top notch (they look unassuming but so good!) and they have a great selection of cakes etc. The ginger berry oat slice was delicious. There's also a really nice range of deli stuff - jams, preserves, nut butters, granola, chocolate, a couple of cheeses. It does get rather busy of a morning and it can be tricky to find a spot to sit in, especially if it's not all fresco weather, but it's pretty cosy! Staff are at their friendliest when it's not as busy, and they did forget my coffee today, but I can forgive the odd hiccough for the excellent quality!

Popped in as a stop off during a bike ride. Nicely set up and organised for ordering safely. The artisanal produce is not for,or at aimed at, me but the coffee and service were good.

Love this place - pain au chocs are off the scale and the coffee's pretty good too. The service is staff-dependent and should probably lose it a point but the rest carries it ;-)

Great coffee and delicious pastries!
M. S.
Excellent coffee and cake. Best flour free chocolate cake and gluten free oat flapjack I’ve ever tasted. Bit expensive but worth every penny for the taste, quality and size of portions.

This five-star review is specifically for the low-gluten bread. (They don't call it "no-gluten" because although there's basically none in there, it is made alongside regular bread.) I'd urge anyone who has gone gluten-free, especially for health benefits, to try it: most gluten-free bread is actually worse for you nutritionally, whereas this one is made mainly out of whole oat flour and teff, and is very tasty and filling. Innovative product - worth local support.

Don't listen to any of the negative reviews on here. Some people are just too impatient! The food and coffee is worth the wait at this busy bakery! The staff are great and always cater for me even when it's clearly very busy (and they remember my order which is a bonus). It can get overcrowded but that soon dies down. I will be back next week for sure, keep up the good work Christopher's.

Fantastic bread with a good variety ... sourdough french baguette is excellent
Staff have always been nice and friendly.
Nice cheap breakfast option: 2 self service toast for £2.50 ... very good

This coffee shop/bakery/deli is wonderful. The coffee and bread are both phenomenal and on top of that the owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Would recommend this place to anybody

I absolutely love this cafe. It's definitely the best in Herne Hill and worth the walk down from the station.
The pain au chocolats are to die for! One of these a morning with my coffee (a choice of blends! Who else does that?! It's great) and I'm ready for the day!
The staff are always super friendly and happy to help. Lauren is a gift sent from above and is always her smiley and bubbly self. The cafe seems to be run really well as well, and I believe the tall man in bakers whites is the famous Christopher that we have to thank for everything.
It's nice to have a regular place to relax and somewhere where I know I can count on good service and products every time! It often feels like I'm there every day.

Delicious bread and pastries (cinnamon buns to die for) and lovely staff. So lucky to have Christopher’s in our neighbourhood

Great spot for brunch, breakfast, coffee, whatever. Monmouth coffee - delicious. Sandwiches, superb (the Lauren Special is a real winner). The bread, all freshly made daily on site, is on another level. Get yourself some Aymar Hot Pepper spread while you're there, you won't regret it.

This kiwi coffee snob says great coffee here (like Capital, not a fan of fruity Monmouth.)
Had the avacado, bacon on sourdough, very tasty. Missus had the tomato, cheese and jamon toastie - so good! Pane chocolate and croissants were very buttery, very very tasty.
Will come back again as we are locals. Thanks for the great service!

I’m giving Christophers a 5 star review because,
1. The Pain au chocolat are baked on site, try any other cafe in the area and ask if they bake their pastries on site, the answer will come in the form of an adverb (no).
2. The staff are amongst some of the nicest people you will encounter in the area.
3. The premises is clinically clean, and that includes the toilets.
4. If you sit out the front you will have sunshine beaming down upon you, unless it’s a cloudy day. 😉
And so please to enjoy yourself at this independent bakery.

The most delicious bread I've tasted, love the Fresian Rye, quiches to die for and for the health conscious wonderful salads! Lovely service from Sue-Anne, they also have fantastic take away deli goods. An asset to Herne Hill...

Absolutely amazing bread! Lovely owners, unfortunately the service is below any expectations. Very disorganised team, the rotation of the staff is very high which probably doesn't help. They all seem to be very nice and friendly but after all they have no clue what are they doing behind the till? To elaborate more: no orders coordination at all, they don't remember after 2 min which order is for who and being a regular visitor I gave it a discount for the 1st year but nothing has really changed and bearing in mind prices you would at least expect that the service will be on much higher level. Now, I will still pop by to buy croissant and bread pretty much every day as it is absolutely unique but still can't believe how is it possible for the team to be so disorganised. Maybe in terms of tracking orders they should thing of using little numbers on the tables to avoid running from one to another and asking who has ordered what... It is a bit of a shame as breadwise it is an absolute creme de la creme!!!

Lovely little bakery, one of the best around East/North Dulwich/Herne Hill. Nice selection of foodie produce, great bread, but it's all about sitting in and having a delicious toastie/soup/salad, coffee and a cake.
I. H.
Love this local deli, it's such a delight. Staff are really friendly, has a nice upbeat atmosphere and the food is delicious. I come out of my way to visit Christopher's, keep up the good work!
M. W.
Best bread in town. Hands down
A. L.
Seriously the best croissants in London. They sell out quickly, seems everyone in town agrees. Charming and friendly atmosphere. Loved my Christophers experience!!
E. M.
Excellent bakery, with amazing deli products from around the world. The coffee is very nice and the atmosphere is relaxed.
J. D.
We come here all the time and it's a great little place. It doesn't have an extensive menu, but the food is good, the bakery and the bread are great and the coffee good too.
S. G.
Bread is very tasty but quite overpriced. Other menu items are interesting and usually up to scratch. Could improve customer service though.
D. P.
A new favourite haunt in my local area! Super friendly staff serving yummy food; stunning breads, quiches and salads. See you again soon!
K. J.
Excellent bread, albeit a touch pricey, very friendly atmosphere but so popular with a loyal crowd of regulars that you sometimes have to cue for a bit.
R. H.
Great fresh bread, coffee and pastries. I love the scrambled eggs on toast, but I hear the rest of the menu is good too
P. S.
Absolutely fantastic, croissants are great, coffee is great, friendly staff and you might even see Angela eagle inside!
J. L.
Get there early for the gooiest, most wonderful cinnamon roll in town.
M. B.
Friendly staff, great coffees and cheesecake

A touch of Spanish class in Herne Hill. Quality!
More a deli than restaurant but you can eat well and have a glass of wine to wash it down.
