Reviews of GAIL's Bakery Victoria Park
B. S.
Good cakes, pastries, bread, sandwiches and good drinks, coffee - what more could you want! A central location in Victoria Park village - perfect to grab a few things and eat them waddling around Viccy Park
V. M.
I had ,,girty chai,, with cinnamon rolls. Very testy and fresh. The staff are very friendly.Just 5 min from Victoria Park.Very recommended.
J. G.
One of the only coffee chain in London with good coffee. Service is always good, friendly and caring.
Their pastries are fresh, delicious and good quality.
Enjoy 😊
Z. A.
Lovely bakery with delicious feta and spinach rolls and decent selection of both sweet and savoury. Cappuccino is lovely and so is the Americano. I found that from 11am is starts getting quite busy (queue runs outside the bakery!) so best to go earlier!
F. G.
I was looking for some local bakery stores around my neighbourhood area. I went a bit further from Stratford cross Victoria Park and came to this cafe. It has lots of homemade bread. I didn’t really read any reviews and went for what I saw in the shop. The sausage roll seemed to be freshly baked as I could see it was displayed from the tray. I ordered that and the cinnamon roll which looks really beautiful. I was very impressed with the sausage roll. I just realise people were commenting how good the sausage roll and they are brilliant!! It was warm and meat was so juicy with crispy pastry. The cinnamon roll was divine! This is an absolutely a brilliant cafe for takeaway and if you want some fresh bakery. I will definitely come back in the future!
B.
Really decent coffee, lovely and small cake options (not some massive cake you need 4 people to share with!), and good customer service.
B. P.
The staff are not overly friendly. They are alert and fast. Perfect !!!
I would hug an untrained Rottweiler for the cinnamon buns.
Outside the door are ravenous hordes of customers who couldn't wait to get home. They just stand there eating their orders and I completely understand why.
Excellent.

Visited today following friends recommendation and was not disappointed!
Fantastic bakery with so much more than just classic pastry. Super friendly staff will welcome you with a big smile :)
Be aware of the queue, this spot is quite popular and well located just next to Victoria Park.
If you’re not a cooking person - get in and choose your coffee & breakfast. I do recommend ham&cheese croissants a quiches! Yum!
Cheese bread sticks are a must.
Will come back soon folks. Thank you for kind service and great lunch! ❤️

Was served by not a very friendly lady, which is fine. But bit into this plastic thing in my cheddar scone which I, or worse, a child could have choked on.
L. S.
I love this cafe, location is very convenient and the place is very cozy. It is nice for a quick branch or a coffee and pastry, all there food and drinks options are delicious. They have a wide range of bread to take home. The staff are nice but the customer service could be better.
G. B.
Very friendly staff and delicious bakery. I tried the mini burgers. Chicken burger was flavoursome though the chicken pieces itself were dry and chewy. The sweet potato one was delicious. They have sales as well and ample space at the back to sit down and enjoy the food. I am most definitely going back.
A. L.
Used to love their chocolate and almond croissant so much. Now it's not taste as good as before. Cheese straw, cheese, Spanish roll are ok.
I. O. (.
This is the best cafe next to Victoria park. It is one of the best in Bethnal Green. Baked goods are second to none. Very friendly staff. Excellent lattes. The back pateo is heated and very cozy.
D. F.
The staff are very friendly and professional there's always a great selection of food and the coffee is amazing
I'm a regular and have noticed the improvement in the past couple of weeks thanks guys
O. S.
Delicious desserts and great tea by Jing, which is some of the best tea I've ever had. Prices are a bit high, but that's true for all Gail's Bakeries. This branch is small but very cute with a (heated) terrace in the back.
S. N.
Good friendly staff and very chilled place to relax and spend quality time with a loved one. Try the hot chocolate.
J. H.
Get Waste-less sourdough bread while you are there. Ask for bread to be sliced. Once at, home transfer bread from their paper bag into plastic one, or something air tight, otherwise bread will be rock hard after one day. I recommend go there during office working hours because there are no queues. This place is great and popular.
R. S.
Pancake and Scrambled eggs. Pancakes were really good, I would recommend it to anyone looking for good pancakes. They were not very filling but really right portion in my opinion (might not be the case for others)
G. C.
Highly recommended. Sausage roll was proper tasty, the cold pressed drinks were refreshing.
My only suggestion would be to add one or two more kimchi slices to their braised beef + kimchi sandwich, but it was still good.
C. M.
I love Gail’s! The sliders are tasty, the bread and pastries are great. Some things are a touch expensive and the coffee can occasionally be super hot but overall I think it’s great!
S. N.
Really tasty pastries and excellent decaf coffee! ☕
a. r.
Gails is a must visit. Although a chain yet the staff are super friendly and nice.
Try their breads and yes the cinnamon bun (kannel bunna). It’s one of the best in towns.
Flat white was also nice.
It’s a perfect place to go after a morning run in Victoria park !
A. K.
Really cute coffee place with nice pastries.
S. M. N.
Very nice customer service, coffee latti and cossaints, fantastic. Keep up the good work. 👍
J. R.
The pistache rose and lemon cake was amazing, but the best part has been the "ratatouille" on the back garden, quite impressive
a. d. s.
Gails has got to be my most favourite bakery in London. My go-to treats are always their cinnamon bun (genuinely the most amazing treat - it’s the perfect balance between crisy, chewy, soft, sugary and cinnamon). More of a cronut than bun but not to be missed! I also love their sausage rolls (although would be good if they would heat up) as well as their cheese and ham croissant. Staff are friendly and helpful. There’s always a line so get there early but it’s always well worth the wait
V. R.
What a great place! I was served by a lovely guy who served me with a smile and also recommended scones which were devine. Super busy cafe but all staff were fab, coffee top rate and the sausage rolls and scone will have me coming back weekly. Great find near Victoria Park - plus they have take out so you can take their delicious goodies home. Highly recommend!
M. C.
These guys absolutely know what they are doing!! Very unique pastries and great breakfast options. I also loved the coffee which I enjoyed at their garden on a sunny weekday. Very friendly staff, nice people around, cool music, great interior design. Definitely a place with a divine character, style & layout. Located in South Hackney next to Victoria Park, couldn’t expect anything less to be honest 😎

Lovely staff and amazing food. They got me hooked with the cinnamon roll and the pecan nut scone. I just wish they were cheaper!
j. i.
Yummy food, yummy coffee. The staff here were very friendly and professional. There is a lovely outside seating area too. It is so close to Victoria Park so perfect place to grab some lunch and then go for a wander. It is clean inside, the food they serve is healthy and delicious. They have a good range is food and cakes for sale. I had a lovely time here and will visit again when in the area.
Z. M.
Mixed bag - generally it is just way too crowded and feels stressful to sit inside. You have people in the queue hovering over your table and the door is constantly left swinging open. Some of the staff are lovely but others can be quite terse (probably overworked). Whenever I sit in I always wait ages for my order - even if it's just a coffee and cake, so no heating/prep required. This would be somewhat ok if people who were behind me in the queue weren't all getting their coffees before me... The food is lovely (albeit overpriced) but it is hard to justify coming back given how stressful it often proves to be.
J. F.
Wonderful place with superb kish and iced coffee. Very friendly staff.
M. R.
Very nice coffee bar with a great selection of breads, sourdough and cakes. It got busy as the school run began, and as it's a long narrow shop, it got a bit congested with prams, but everyone was friendly and it didn't cause any problems. A good place to go to have a quiet chat with a friend or read a book on your own.
M. S. D. G.
Pastries are lovely, slightly over priced but the quality is there. You must try their sausage rolls. Also their sourdough bread is very nice too. I haven't tried their sweet products (muffins, cake, etc..) but I can assume that they are of good quality.
J. W.
Gail’s is a great chain, but this one in particular is more chilled and relaxing. Food was excellent.
J. M.
The sausage rolls are incredible. Treat yourself. Even if you're a vegan. It's worth it.
a. H.
Artisan bakery. Lots of sourdough options. Lots of savoury choices like sausage rolls. However the shop is very narrow and only size available for slicing bread is regular. You have to buy an entire loaf of lemon drizzle cake rather than a slice. Very busy shop. Doesn’t have to premium customer service that comes with the premium prices.
D. S.
Positives :Gorgeous baked goods and snappy service. Vegan cocoa was tasty.
Negatives :noisy, narrow and I felt cold, because they leave the doors open. They started turning lights off rather than coming round to say they're closing soon. Slightly over priced.
Conclusion :best for take away.
j. b.
good local bakery stores around my neighbourhood area.Great breads, and a small eat in menu make this a great option for breakfast on the go.
S. S.
Ride past on my way to work. Occasionally I stop for a coffee, a pause for my thoughts. It is quiet enough for that held moment, but with passing folk so feel you have company. If I can work out how to make their chocolate tahini bites, I'd be happy!
M. A.
Brilliant food. Comfortable atmosphere. Really good coffee.
K. S.
Shocking lack of vegan options. Not acceptable in this day and age.
Coffee was good. If coffee doesn’t taste like this, it’s complaint-inducing.
Y. H.
I've always been a big fan of Gail's but this particularly branch is just exquisite. I always joke that their hot cross buns mark the start of my spring but you haven't lived until you've tried one. The customer service here is astounding, so incredibly friendly and honestly you won't find a better cafe or bakery in the area, or even in London.
K. S.
Bread is quite yummy. Back garden is nice, quiet. Avocado is piled high on toast. Iced latte varies in strength from day to day. That said, service is extremely slow and not very "warm.
S. M. C.
Delicious bread and nice cafe'.
s. j.
I bought a few bread today, taste all good. Will come again.
M.
Cute, comfortable, nice place where you can enjoy delicious food and stay in a place where everything seems warm and familiar. Last time I went there I had breakfast with an excellent cappuccino made with almond milk and a gourmand choco muffin. I'll surely go back soon :)
J. S.
Always had good service and great food here. The coffee is pretty good too. Can get very busy. People need to chill out and enjoy themselves.
H. B.
Excellent bakery by Victoria Park, the perfect place to meet friends for coffee and cake, or even to have one of the many great cooked breakfast options. Super friendly and helpful staff, and all round great vibes. The mixed olive sourdough is so addictive! Vegetarian and vegan options are a lot better than in other places; I had a really great hummus and roasted vegetable ciabatta. Soya and almond milk are offered for coffee, and there are even quite a few flourless options. Coffee was excellent, the baristas definitely know their stuff! 100% recommended
j. b.
Bite-sized portion here that certainly tasted upside of pedestrian but forgettable at the price. Coffee was passable. Pleasant and professional but needs to put the 'art' back in artisan.
L. J. (.
The Quinoa Sourdough is the best bread I ever tasted. I went in there for a Plain white bread and the girl told me about Quinoa and dared me to be a little adventurous and wow, no regrets. Will be back, they really know their stuff.
S. W.
Great experience, nice place and nice staff even if I wasn't easy (didn't know what to take everything looked so good haha) Bit they were patients and nice. Thank you very much for my wonderful chai latte and cupcake!
A. K.
Great bakery - nice and friendly staff with great baked goods. What more can you ask for?
T. O. J.
I love Gails! Food is always fresh and tasty. The actual place is quite small though but there are usually tables available so not top bad!
T. H.
If you're too posh for Gregg's, come here and have the sausage roll. It's pretty incredible and could feed you for days.
J. M.
First time I have been here. It was very busy and the staff was still professional, welcoming and friendly.
Loved the bread I bought.
Norwegian Bloomer (5 Star)
A. M.
Nice place for breakfasts and lunches. Original sandwiches, salads and the cappuccino was delicious! Covered terrace in the back. Nice service too.
Ž. T.
Good place to invite your friend for a coffee or just to take a break from work and enjoy nice atmosphere. Not only atmosphere is amazing, but also the staff, who always trying their best even in a very busy environment.
D. J. M. L.

The best hot cross buns I have tasted in years - and they were straight from the oven, so VERY hot cross buns!
S. C.
Good coffee and croissant and a large selection of cakes. Service a bit slow. Bread looked fantastic.
A. R.
Small but nice cakes and coffee. Whereas Tea is made a bit too weak. Nice staff and good service!
L. A.
Great vibe! Amazing place to grab a take away and enjoy Victoria Park. Super friendly and helpful staff even though it was super busy. Will be coming back, for sure!
A. J.
Good selection of bread, lovely cakes and the sandwich are good too! Topped off with a nice outside seating area.
R. J.
Friendly service, tasty coffee and good choice of light snacks. Also good location as just north of Vicky Park.
K. H.
Liked this place a lot. Good coffee and pastries. Very nice staff too.
D. P.
The pastries are lovely but very expensive. The bread quality is generally good. Service was OK but not particularly attentive.
A. K.
Mushroom and caramelised onions quiche and cinnamon bun were superb!!
d. t.
Good coffee and some nice savoury things like the chicken burger, Gail's cakes are underwhelming though
S. T.
Very good baked stuff. A bit expensive, but very nice...! I love the seeded crackers and the hot cross buns.
D. D.
Really quite nice, efficient, and with a quite varied range of breads and pastries. My only complaint would be that metal tables in the sun are skin removers.
M. A.
Honestly one of the best breakfast I even had. The cook is a master! The pancakes are finger licking delicious!
J. G.
They have amazing sausage rolls ! I love all their food but the rolls are the best ever !
A. D.
Best almond croissant I've ever had, get there early enough when its still warm!!
L. C.
Really great branch with all the same amazing pastries. Inside and outside seating. Super friendly staff. 🙂
G. R.
Everything delicious but don't appreciate being given a large coffee without asking for it. This consistently happens & is extremely annoying.
K. M.
Takeaway baked goods & coffee are good, but the in-house dining options we ate were mediocre.
S. B.
Artisan bakery. Lots of sourdough. Middle class feels. Pick something up to take away for a brunch. Can also order food and sit in
G. B.
I could have eaten my way through the entire counter. Excellent small bakery and nice to sit in.
D. J.
Great staff; they are really friendly; lovely breakfast as well. I keep coming back and love it.
r. b.
I fine it very over priced the coffee is better in the shop next door but the pastrires are very tasty.
D. M.
Great choice of artisan baked goods, slightly overpriced. Coffee can be great depending on who makes it.
C. A.
