Reviews of Konditor
S.
Firstimer who was desperately looking for a small cute cake for daughter's first birthday .
The gentleman with the glasses at the till/ barista had an amazing customer service, full of knowledge and was so patient with me...
The cake he recommended me was amazing and I would totally come back to get my future birthday cakes there.
G. C.
Best Chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting in the World. I can't find the words to describe the taste, so I will just say its more than fabulous. Such a shame to find the Stoney Street store is now permanently closed. We.need more stores than fewer. I ended up walking to Waterloo from Greenwich because this cake is just so good.
S. U.
Definitely deserve 5 stars.
Visited after initially passing by enroute elsewhere and then did a Google search to check the reviews and opening times whilst staying nearby.
Amazing place and the range of cake slices - red velvet, strawberry and lemon, carrot cake … the list goes on.
The member of staff was really kind as I asked if they had any disposable cutlery due to staying in a hotel whilst visiting London and they provided a couple of sets.
Will definitely visit again - they also do whole cakes - check out the website.
L. K.
Gorgeous and tasty treats in a surprising location. We chose to pop by on a whim, and were delighted to find a wonderland of delectable and whimsical cakes. I only wish we could have convinced them to open a store in LA!
M. T.
It’s a good raspberry chocolate cake, rich flavour but a bit too sweet I have to add more raspberry with it
C. M.
Now that the borough market location is closed, this is the nearest option for me. Thankfully the staff is amazing, friendly and they're stocked with the goodies you love and didn't know you couldn't live without.
N. S.
Delicious cakes and brownies. There are many distinct and unique flavours. Not cheap but worth it.
L. H.
I have bought 3 birthday cakes , all were absolutely delicious, and I bake my own sometimes so know a good cake.
S. B.
I walk past this amazing and delightful shop on the way to work every day. It's always a pleasure to see the change in display through the different seasons. Ok, I have to admit that I do pop in around twice a week for their wheat free pecan nut brownie. It is sooo good and it disappears so very quickly. A real treat, a delight. Go on, try it. I dare you. But don't write to me if you become addicted. 🤗
J. K.
First time I have used this firm..... THEY'RE EXCELLENT!!! I got a lemon cake for my wife's birthday she loved it. Moist and flavorful. Now I know the quality, I'll be back. Highly recommend them.
J. A.
Britney and Mihali were brilliant
Service is amazing
A. H.
Gorgeous, premium quality cakes. Not cheap but not run-of-the-mill. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Shop is easy to find. Did I mention how nice the cakes are??
M. S.
I have ordered a box of vegan mince pies yesterday; the mince pies arrived today and are the best vegan mince pies I have tried so far! Most vegan mince pies can only be found in supermarkets, and they don't taste amazing... In fact, I have now tried 7 different vegan mince pies from both fancy bakeries and supermarkets and Konditor pies are just the best. I am really happy I found these!
B. i.
The carrot and pistachio cake i had today was amazing! I will be going out of my way to come back here again to try what else they have!
C. F.
I wanted to buy a cake for my wife to help celebrate her promotion at work, They had a fantastic range and I picked the sticky toffee cake. Wow, it was fantastic, the cake was light and airy, the icing had a lovely taste and it made my wife smile, which was obviously the main aim!
T. W.
Very good espresso. Trouble with the card machine so they gave it to me on the house. Will return when I have the opportunity.
E. J.
lovely cakes and even lovelier people. Not disappointed. Real yummy cakes.
D. M.
They have the best brownies I've ever had!
T. G.
I came here when I had found myself tight for time on baking my wife a Birthday cake. They were able to prepare me a personalised cake within an hour, were incredibly helpful and understanding and moreover the cake was truly delicious. The shop itself is beautifully decorated and all the staff are friendly. A delightful experience all round.
L. L.
The pies and brownies are really good. You rarely get a dry cake, but the taste experience is still sensational. Unfortunately, you can't say that about the service. Very, very unfriendly service when taking away. That's really two star deduction because I really don't like going there because of that.
J. C.
Excellent hot chocolates and moist cakes!
D. C.
Very good cake shop in the 'fine quality' bracket. They make delicious cakes and a wide variety of sponges and flavours, as well as brownies and muffins. The shop has a seating area at the back and they do coffee and chocolate, so order a selection of cake and relax. The staff are helpful. The shop is tastefully decorated and has a slight old world charm.
J.
How cakes should be enjoyed; a single slice, savoured sensually. (If they were cheaper I'd have written a duo of slices, but my former suggestion is probably healthier anyway)
Four out of the five times I've visited, the cake slices have been perfect; once, it was slightly dry.
Oh well, no one is perfect! So I'd have kept my review 5 stars if, like another reviewer suggested, there was a way to use less plastic wrapping on each individual slice. I'll email in when I think of one! :)
B. D.
Absolutely loved it. Still talking about the amazing brownies 🤤
A. J.
I have tried curly whirly and tiramisu cakes and both are really good.
Y. C.
Recommend: carrot cakes!!
J. B.
Delicious cakes and brownies. So good! small cosy seating area
A. O.
Not sure if you should pop in? Let me assure you, its the right decision to pop in.
It's not cheap for a cake or slice *BUT* it is completely worth it!
Lovely cake, brownies and slices. Service is always also lovely plus nice and friendly.
The selection changes throughout the season and some options pop up for special occasions, but you'll find some good solid staples here all year around.
I'm a semi frequent flier of Konditor.
D. C.
A small and very photogenic cake shop with lots of choice of sweet treats like cakes and brownies. Only open for takeaway at the moment; a perfect pitstop while walking around Waterloo.
R. A.
Best brownie I ever had!!! Guys are very nice and the place very cosy!
L.
Amazing service! Arranged a personalised curly wurly cake for a 21st birthday with Konditor and I couldn't be happier. The cakes and brownies are perfection and the cake went down very well! Thanks Konditor for making the event that much yummier!!
T. K.
Amazing quality of cakes, brownies and ready made lunches. The staff is super friendly as well. It's a pleasant experience every time I visit. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is that for such amazing pastries, the coffee is really sub par.
If the coffee was on the level of the bakery, I would give myself diabetes in no time.
E.
Large selection of cakes and other sweet treats, and very helpful and friendly staff. My cake (lemon chiffon) was a bit stale but still very nice. There are only 3 tables to sit at inside so probably best for more intimate catch-ups or solo visitors.
J. B.
This location of the chain is extra cute. London Patisserie is usually dreadful compared to mainland Europe and Asia but Konditor and Cook is actually pretty good. They used to do really good mini lemon meringue but no more, the larger size still on offer isn't as good. My favourite thing they sell is Lebkuchen which you can only get at Christmas. I wish they would sell it all year around.
R. B.
The best cakes and brownies in the world. They also have a great lunch menu here, sometimes theres a queue, but it's totally worth it for the freshly cooked, most delicious food. Also worth picking up their cookbook so you can make them at home... the recipe really does work.
D. C.
The only bad thing about this place is that it is too close too work and the temptation of cake is just too strong! They bake exceptional quality cakes and brownies and have a great selection of fresh hot dishes available at lunch time. My recommendations - carrot cake, fudge packed brownie and ham & cheese tiger roll (not just any cheese and ham sandwich!)
L. C.
In this small, cozy bakery you can find a huge choice of yammy cakes. First time I passed by, I was craving brownies so I decided to give it a try. They were like coming from Heaven. The chocolate, the caramel and it was so fresh that it melts in your mouth. Since then I started coming from time to time and take desserts for home – always different. I guess I will write which ones I recommend after we have tried them all.
K. S.
Grabbed a few items on our way to our Airbnb as the smell coming from this shop was intoxicating! Wish I had bought more items as everything we had was DELICIOUS and so flavorful and moist. Highly recommend making a trip out here to grab some items.
A. G.
The prices here aren't cheap, but by god they're worth it. My girlfriend and I come here now and then to treat ourselves, and they have the best cakes in London. Our latest treat was some mince pies, and I don't think I've ever eaten a finer mince pie in my life. Fantastic place.
K. M.
I popped in there today because I needed directions to where I was meeting my cousin. The staff were incredibly helpful. The cakes smelled delicious. I feel guilty for not buying some slices. I'm going to have to book tickets for The Old Vic or The National Theatre soon so that I can pop in there and have some of their cakes.
K. N.
Amazing bakes - I have tried tarts to cupcakes to cakes. It also has great deals where you can mix and match mini cupcakes or brownies. Price is quite high.
J. M.
My favourite bakery in London. I'm a sucker for their signature Curly Whirly cake (nothing to do with the Carbury's chocolate bar) and try to taste whatever their seasonal offering is, like their Guinness cake for St. Patrick's Day. The really mini cakes are £1.50, while their personalised celebration cakes are £30+.
C. T.
Great little bakery. Everyone knows about the legendary brownies and curly wurly cake, but they do great lunch options too. Hot food, specifically the lasagne, and the salad options are top notch. Staff are always a delight as well.
S. S. B.
Ideal local shop for the sweet-toothed amongst us, though there are also savoury specials to take away. And if you like chocolate brownies you'll love the fact they have at least four varieties to choose from.
S. K.
An amazing find. Fresh, tasty lunch options and delicious desserts. The brownies were divine. Very easy to walk from Waterloo station. Nearest escalators to street level are around platform 3-5. Then about 3-5 minutes walk with luggage. It is expensive but it beats the drab and generic food at the station.
J. R.
Great around Christmas with fantastic German X-mas cookies. Overall just a good but expensive bakery for the rest of the year. Not a fan of their english style cakes - drowned in icing.
I. A. R.
Great cakes, perfect for when you have an unexpected dinner party and don't want to show up empty-handed! My boyfriend swears by their pumpkin pie, and coming from an American it's a good recommendation ;)
j. h.
Yesterday I sat in Konditor & Cook for the first time with a friend due to recommendation. I loved the ambiance – charming and welcoming with pretty decoration. We had coffee and a piece from the chocolate cake. It was amazing – the cream, the layers, the hazelnut flavor…just perfect. I will be back soon Konditor & Cook!
J. R.
They have the best brownies in London! They have a great offer of 3 brownies for £5...cant beat that. Would highly recommend going there after enjoying a savoury meal at borough market...unless you are on a diet!
H. A.
We really liked the food. 5 years later we still remember.
R. S.
best velvet cake ever!
A. R.
Absolutely fantastic cakes and brownies. Dont worry about the price this is well worth it. The staff are always very friendly and helpful too, try and avoid the busy times though! It is a small shop
G. M. A.
A useful secret tucked away from the main streets around waterloo station. It only has a handful of seats but it's quiet and much more likely to be empty than any starbucks or costa nearby. Brownies are excellent
M. M.
Really good cakes! It's not cheap to buy anything from here, but this doesn't put people off. The food here is made well and tastes divine!
Worth paying extra!
E. P.
Absolutely excellent, it was really quite the experience eating in the dark and relying on our senses to guess the food. From start to finish, we had a great experience, the staff were friendly and attentive, we were greeted promptly
E. W.
Do yourself a favour and buy a brownie from here. It was quite honestly the best brownie I have ever had!
R. M.
is a small bakery chain based near Waterloo and Borough market,
The branch closest to waterloo also happens to do lunch, and this usually consists of a range of cold and warm salads and a meat and vegetarian option.
While the prices are at the top end for a regular lunch option roughly 6 pounds, the quality and the portions are well worth it.
R. F.
You can't go wrong with their salted caramel brownie. In fact, you can't go wrong with any of their brownies. They do all sorts of other sweet treats and some sandwiches for lunch too.
C. A.
Friendly staff, brilliant free sample of Victoria Sponge. I tried curly wurly brownie and fudge brownie. Preferred curly wurly but both were good. Victoria sponge was revelatory!
A. B.
Was looking for something local while waiting for the bus near Southwark station. This place popped up. I had a bowl of curried lentil soup that was great plus something else - I liked the soup so much it's what I remember to the point of trying to make it at home.
H. G.
As well as having good food it isn't that expensive, they have a gluten free selection and their food is not really sugary. They also have a selection of hot drinks to choose from and lunches such as spaghetti, lasagne and quiche.
F. v. A.
Amazing cakes, but eating in seating is a bit strange... I converted my order to a takeaway and went and ate it by the river.
J. H.
What can I say about this shop? Well, Awesome! Great and Good! :) Awesome place for the costumers. Great food especially there cakes! Good staff and facilities. And Last this place is a highly recommended to anyone.
K. K.
Best cakes in a good few miles. Do not miss! (Coffee is also proper coffee).
Thank you!
S. S.
This place does great porridge. I like to get mine with blueberries and brown sugar! The birthday cakes are expensive but totally worth it!
B. O.
Delicious cakes, we stopped in a few times on our trip to take a slice of cake home for dessert.
M. J. P.
Come here for the famous Curly Wurly cake and the best (when it's freshly baked) salted caramel brownie that you can find in London.
N. F.
Coffee and cakes were delicious
P. G.
Really nice cakes! Great selection as well.
K. L.
Amazing cake and pleasant staff. I just wish they still did hot lunches which I much prefered to the seating area!
J. S.
Some might deem them expensive but the quality is amazing and the cakes and lunch they sell are some of the best in the area. A must visit when you are near Waterloo.
D. L.
Excellent range of cakes including vegan & gluten free, but don't expect it to be cheap.
L. B.
Huge selection of cakes and pastries, all looked beautiful - I had wondered if they did savoury too, but no.
G. M.
This is a great little place tucked away a stone's throw away from Waterloo. It feels as though you're in a Catherine Cookson film when you walk the cobbled streets of South London. Enjoy!
I. B.
Lovely bakery outside the station but slightly out of the way so some people might not be aware of this little gem of a place. Go visit when not on diet
M. P.
Cute little place with very nice deserts. Must try the lemon cake!! Perfect pit stop before a movie in BFI!
S. W.
Amazing cakes and sweets. Amazing lunch food. Lovely staff. Recommend this place to everyone!

(Translated) A great place for an excellent tea or croissant. The cakes are excellent and the small living room is super cute. A good address to remember for really affordable prices.

Un super endroit pour prendre un thé ou un croissant excellent. Les gâteaux sont excellents et le petit salon est super mignon. Une bonne adresse à retenir pour des prix vraiment abordables.

(Translated) Very cozy little difficult to find. Many pastries and cakes to choose from. Eat yourself a piece of Gin & Tonict cake and a latte to it.
Minimum seating in a small corner. Nice staff and quick service. Well worth a little detour for a good drink. Recommended. Close to many other attractions, so tap into the power here before heading out into London.
(Original)
