Reviews of Wild Goose Bakery - Forest Gate Arches
F. G.
Hidden gem independent bakery shop around Forest Gate area. Really great quiet place if you want some nice coffee and some lovely snacks to go with. They do some lovely hot dishes too but would think some of their pastries are freshly made. You can always grab some lovely homemade bread here too. The kitchen is just next to the main store. Definitely good place to come for lovely brekkie!

Very nice bakery inspired in south african recipes. Tasty vegan options I try the vegan doughnut and the vegan sausage roll amaizing. The people at the shop was very friendly. Highly recommended 😋

A real neighbourhood gem. Excellent bread and pastries and a large, well curated selection of other things - coffee, cheese and butter, granola, frozen sourdough for pizzas, just an incredible assortment of great stuff.

Absolutely love this place! Amazing staff, amazing food and the bread is just to die for!
Everyone should go! Don’t even think about it, you won’t be disappointed!
M. C.
Great selection of baked goods, cheeses and treats. Lovely friendly staff too. My favourite bakers. Their strong white bread flour is really good. Thanks everyone!
S. S.
Just been to the forest gate branch. Really enjoyed my coffee with a lovely fresh red velvet cake. So much better and relaxed place than the Leytonstone branch with lovely friendly smiley staff.

Only realised this place was here about a month ago, and what a delight to find! Freshly made sourdough bread, coffee and treated myself to quite possibly the best carrot cake I’ve ever had! I will be back ❤️

The best bakery and the nicest of people. Very lucky to have this in Forest Gate. You can't go wrong with any of their bakes, but the red velvet cake is the one!
A. I.
Amazing cake, and a cute shop with lots of interesting ingredients. Great bread too. Definitely worth a visit, but beware, you will keep returning to try all the different cakes!
J. C.
Stopped for some coffee and sweet treats!
Thought we would try something from their lunch menu too. Really good produce, the bakery items (tarts & bread) we bought we sooo good. Can’t fault them at all! Nom nom nom #conciousbakery.

Friendly service, delicious hot chocolate and fresh bread. The smore brownies and hot chocolate were excellent too. It's a small garden, decorated with plants with a few seating benches - but for takeaway during covid, the small space is not a problem.

Loved the place. Amazing breakfast... Great service. Lot of selections of cakes cookies breads. Will def be visiting this place regular.

Small but perfectly formed, Wild Goose Bakery's outpost at the Forest Gate Arches on Station Road is a utilitarian space made lovely by the baked goods & origami birds hanging from the ceiling.
I had a spinach brioche with a decaf coffee early on a Saturday morning and both were delicious. Staff were friendly and as the space slowly filled up (mainly couples and parents with kids) they all found space inside or out on a bench amongst some communal green planting.
A lovely addition to that stretch of cafes and bars, with some gorgeous-looking sweet treats I will be back to try out!

Most amazing bakery, stunning food, with lots of healthy and organic options, lovely friendly staff.
My favourite place 😊

Amazing little bakery. Bread is amazing and cakes too. Lovely outdoors space too. Suitable for families too

This bakery was recommended to me at the beginning of this month. Their freshly baked Rye bread is moorish and yummy mince 😋
M. T.
Fantastic sourdough and cakes; all very laid back, great friendly staff.

Love this place - what a hidden gem in Forest Gate! My sister and I are huge fans. They do excellent coffee and wonderful pastries (including both meat and vegan sausage rolls - delicious) and a really nice variety of deli and bakery items.

Live in the block opposite and needs a fresh loaf today- well not bad although not a massive fan with sourdough bread and no good for a bacon sandwich in my opinion but nice with lurpak butter.
Support local business but they can be noisy sometimes with the banging and clanging of trays especially early houses when I need to get up fir work but not to the sound of that! Owner is a nice guy and understanding
Will not rush to go back but will go again as this 4th visit. Also noticed a few flies in the shop, hard to keep
out but thought of them landing on the bread and cakes is a put off. Try to get door beads or something to prevent them coming in.
Overall bread was nice pricey but sourdough always is
K. C.
Best bread in town. Awesome frozen sourdough pizza dough too.
M. N.
Sensational sourdough, perfect poached eggs, cracking coffee and stellar service!

Perfect local bakery + basic groceries store. Love their selection catering to all dietary needs.
Cherry on top is that they are a social enterprise doing their part to help with school lunches, their suspended care packages etc.
They are one of the top reasons to love the forest gate neighborhood!

What a great hidden spot!! You can buy groceries without plastic and in recycled packaging. The coffee is tasty and the baked goods including the bread is delish. Staff are lovely and helpful. The only reason I gave it three stars is because we had a birthday cake recently and the bakers clearly didn’t know their flavours. The cake was ok but nothing special.
M. M.
Very good local shop! I highly recommend the salmon croissant!! Very good Chai latte and pastries but you can also buy fresh pasta, some cheese and veggies (a bit pricy). Love the place, going every week end before heading to the park with baby, like many parents in the area. And best butter croissants in the area!!!

1. Take your full fat salty butter out the fridge.
2. If you get there before 11am you will be handsomely rewarded more often than not with warm bread.
3.veggies look away..( select cold cuts from the fridge) I know they feel pricey..but you can absolutely taste the difference.
(There are lots of veggie options..but this is my review..soz)
Coffee snobs..get yourself a bag of Wood St beans and don't turn back.
4.Dont forget to treat yourself for all the good work you've done so far..go on get a cake and eat it with a takeaway coffee over the park.....
Happy Days ❤️

stunning food and great place to go. 100% recomend

The best sourdough bread. I've recently moved and have been trying out all the bakeries in the neighbourhood, but none come close to the Wild Goose sourdough.
T. L.
Great bakery, serving excellent coffee and delicious bread. Lots of great South African treats available too.
N. K.
Fantastic place for delicious coffee and cake. Great, covered seating area to meet a friend in any weather :)
And good, tasty bread to take home with you!
A. S.
Lovely place! Really good coffee and amazing freshly baked cakes, tarts, muffins etc etc! Friendly staff always nice to have a bit of a chat with the barista, lovely girl! Definitely recommend, nice little spot in Forest Gate!
J. S.
Amazing sourdough bread and super friendly staff and owners
E. B.
Really good coffee, and snacks and treats.... A nice place to visit for a coffee and relax or chat with friends...
R. C.
Fab bakery and cafe.
Bread is outstanding, as is the coffee; definitely the best coffee in the area! I try to pop in most Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Try a walk on the Wanstead Flats / Wanstead Park and finish up here. Super family friendly too.

I must say that I do take a somewhat cynical attitude to the term artisan bakers, as it is usually an excuse to produce overpriced products using the same machinery as the larger commercial enterprises.
However, in this case the prices are quite reasonable and cafe very nice. The owners have made an effort to spruce up the yard with plants in an area that is largley industrial use railway arches and I do intend to make a return visit in the near future.
M. T.
Really nice bakery with knowledgeable and approachable staff willing to talk about their products and ingredients. A great local bakery if you're in Forest Gate.

I have been several times for the past few weeks. I am unsure why this is so highly rated. Approximately spending £19-25 each time. I have had better - not in this area though. There is no price guide visible - ie the items are not labelled or named. Each time I have had to ask what it is I was buying - to get a receipt they email it to you - then the items do not match what I have bought. For the price that I am spending I do expect this not to happen.
I buy a sourdough loaf (white or seeded - what is left on the shelf) consistency wise it varies - the bread is tasty but sometimes the texture varies. I then also buy a sausage roll, they are consistent in size and filling. Cakes also consistent but I have had much better. I don't know if it is just what happens on a Sunday. But price wise even for London I find this £5 over.
They sell vegan and gluten free cakes as well. Again unlabelled. I can not say it is good. We tried some and it is ok. Not my favourite and for the price - I can not make it a regular.
I have a similar bakery closer to work and I must have been spoiled.
Edit: 2021 to the reply of the bakery. Interesting assumption of what you guesstimate even though I have given a good description. I have never tried eating in or your coffee. Usually we buy small/large loaf (seeded is preferred- this is the fluctuation of £5) 2 sausage rolls and either 2 x small and 2 large cakes. We have made several purchases with you due to the locality. I made the comment regarding texture as I have not experienced this with any other baker - we don’t buy shop bought as we are trying to contribute to local shops. I appreciate your reply and explanation.
I made a smaller purchase of a small seeded loaf, 1 sausage roll, 2 custard tarts - this came up to £10 ish. Half the price as it is half the purchase. A few weeks ago. The custard tarts were fantastic very yummy.
But I do find the reply from you some how combative. Have a good day.
Edit 3: the bakery has removed its reply. Should have left it for the public as you explained your change in texture. When I visited last. Still no clear price tags on your cakes. I am unsure if this has changed.

Amazing baked goodies! Went savoury this morning and loving their vegan haggis sausage roll. Present tense, as it’s massive and taking some time to finish 😁
A. V.
Wild Goose Arches is such a great addition to the neighbourhood. Not only does it serve excellent coffee and sweet/savoury pasties and cakes, it is a very welcoming and child friendly place.
S. G.
They're very nice people and the refillery is excellent. Great place for a coffee and cakes. I hope Wild Goose stays for ever, becoming a real hub of the local community.
K. A.
Delicious pastries, traybakes, and rolls. Love all the zero waste goods they stock too.
V. V.
I like their produce but the girl working there always seems unhappy that you have even asked for a coffee. Much more prefer Leytonstone one
D. D. C.
Feel lucky to have such a good bakery within walking distance. Best bread in east London!

This has become the heart of the area - the food is wonderful, the staff friendly and they genuinely care about the quality of the produce and the people they serve.

Small-ish cafe in the railway arch next to the main bakery. Great coffee, bread and sweet baked treats! WiFi and dog friendly too.

Good coffee, great cakes and savouries. Has quickly become a highlight of the arches. 1st point of call when I need a sugar or caffeine fix.

Nice coffee.

Sourdough is good (does anyone remember when there was bread other than sourdough).
Sausage rolls good, doughnuts good, friendly people but it's does a steady trade as I think word is out. Worth the wait in line though.
