We booked in for a lovely Afternoon Tea, and were left a little confused when the menu available on the tables didn't show what was on offer. No Ceylon, but the Earl Grey was nice. No sugar tongs for the sugar cube bowl, so be aware as it's a covid risk. The food was brought out on lovely cake towers and there was plenty for the modest £20. The sandwiches were a little plain but well filled and the sweet desserts were lovely apart from the brownies which were far too dense. The cheese scones were served without butter, but they had some upon request that was as hard as stone. Not great, but easily solved by putting it under the teapot. The fake flowers on the table were filthy, covered in dust etc which I noticed after a few minutes of sitting down. It really took away from the lovely setting. Overall 3/5. It's ok. Could be a lot better. Considering the location, more effort is required to maintain custom.

Gorgeous little place offering delicious baked treats. We had Afternoon Tea, effortlessly catering for a vegetarian and a vegan, with bottomless tea and coffee! Helpful staff, beautiful surroundings, rich and enjoyable food.

The place was ok. Quite busy when we arrived. The baked goods were unfortunately a bit too sweet for us. We received them fairly quickly but had to wait for our drinks for quote some time. This is not ideal when the sweet treats are making you thirsty.

Pancakes and milkshake lovely! Cream tea lush! Very nicely decorated! One big let down is having things we ordered served separately and it not coming out together! Resulting in us thinking they had forgot half of our order and asking for it. Waitressing staff friendly when taking orders however some what lacking oomph when bringing over orders / clearing tables. Nice place could be exceptional!

Had an absolutely gorgeous afternoon tea here. Could not fault a single thing. The portions were huge so had some to take home and enjoy. The staff were friendly and it was very clean. Recommended without a doubt.

Had delicious gluten free french toast with fresh berries. Whilst they were quite good in being able to substitute the bread for gluten free, having read that they were able to cater for gluten free I was surprised that out of the 28 amazing looking cakes on offer there were none I could try. For any others stuck on a gluten free diet it's probably worth popping in on the off chance but not a special trip unless you call to check first. On a side note my partner did get to have an amazing looking milk shake 😍

The Great British Cupcakery So we were checking out #tynebridge And fancied a quick coffee/snack. Came across this cute little place called #thegreatbritishcupcakery Serving cakes, teas, coffees, and a selection of waffles. The decor and set up is so cute, floral walls, lovely displays and very bright. The menu selection is quite small but that's not a bad thing. Certain breakfast items are only available until midday however they have a good selection of other little bits along with afternoon tea which is available throughout the rest of the day. I had the all day breakfast waffle, which to be honest wasn't that amazing sadly! I was really looking forward to it but it was lacking flavour. It came with poached eggs (which weren't runny :( ) avocado and hollandaise sauce (i opted for no bacon). £8.95 which isnt bad considering the location its just a shame it wasn't well prepared, but was presented well. Absolutely love the decor in here so nice especially the flowery board which is great for taking photos when you want a nice background... Staff were very friendly. I ordered the banoffee cupcake which was so nice and a cup of tea.. I could have literally just have had 1 of each of everything as they looked so lush and yummy on the display..

The gluten free afternoon tea is the best I’ve ever had. The scones were a little crumbly, as most GF scones are, but still tasted lovely. I had the exact same things as everyone else did on their normal afternoon teas, and it was all delicious. If only the place was a little more wheelchair accessible (it took 4 guys to get me in) then I’d be back as often as possible.

Absolutely beautiful place! The decor is lush and the food is divine! The staff were really welcoming and friendly and the service was excellent. Will definitely be returning and definitely recommend a visit

I love this place! Their milkshakes are my favourite and they have a wonderful food selection. Their cupcakes are second to none, and I absolutely loved my 21st Birthday Cake. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Shamazing milkshakes which are layered with sweetness. They know how to do proper rice crispy bars with their mars bar bites. It is difficult to get a seat and prepare yourself for a potential 15/20 minute wait at peak times. Staff were really friendly and the cake selection was AMAZING!

The smell of purfume was too strong which I wouldn't normally mind but the smell had soaked into the food - I'd recommend closed counter to stop the smell getting into the cakes. Presentation was nice in the shop and great attention to detail too. I would recommend if the taste wasn't in the food of the purfume

I ordered one of the standard celebration cakes through their website for collection. The cake was packaged well, and the staff were very friendly, they even offered advice on how best to get it home safely. The cake was absolutely delicious and clearly very fresh - the buttercream was soft and hadn’t hardened (like it sometimes does with cakes that are left). Thank you GBC!

The cake itself was beautiful to look at and in the end was everything I asked for. I booked GB cupcakery with confidence after seeing them and their team at a wedding fair a few years prior to the wedding who talked me through the process of ordering and made it all sound very personal. I have even attended the cafe numerous times. However the customer service around booking and arranging the design/tasting was challenging and I even had doubts at times the cake was going to be delivered on my wedding day. I know there was a global pandemic in the middle of it all, however the lack of communication from them was lacking throughout the process. We even booked a tasting box to collect from the cafe (after spending 3 months and numerous calls and emails trying to contact them) - we drove 30 miles to collect it only to find they had NOT prepared the box for us. They did kindly post it out to us, however in the tasting box, one of the portions had a very large egg shell the size of a finger nail when I bit into it. I did email them to inform them of this along with my choice of flavours. However, no acknowledgement of this email was made when I spoke to them on the phone to tell Then my choices for the second time - after I had waited with no reply for another 3 weeks from my said email. (at this point my mother was begging me to cancel the cake and loose my £165 deposit as she has worked in catering all her life and service like this is not what is expected) but i decided to stick with it and give them The benefit of doubt. Anyway the cake did turn up, they eventually the week before the day spoke through everything with us and the cake was beautiful on the day, with extra thanks to the flowers provided by the florist. The cake inside did have lumps of flour in the sponge but by this point that was expected as attention to detail when it came to the inside of the cakes is clearly looked over. I am glad to see that the option of booking wedding cakes is now NOT an option on their website as this company is clearly too busy with the cafe to care for wedding customers. Even after taking a £165 deposit. Their excuses for lack of communication was they had closed the direct email address for wedding enquiries. As they were too busy to take any more on. Which I can’t understand you doing without informing your brides and grooms of this change first. Thanks for the cake but I would not recommend using GB cupcakery for a wedding.

I love coming down here for a sweet treat. The staff are always very friendly, they have tasty sandwiches too. Can't beat a nice cuppa with a yummy cupcake! I had my hen du here for an afternoon tea and it all went perfectly - we were stuffed. Can't recommend them enough!

An amazing place and not just to view. Cakes and cupcakes have a great range in flavour. Teas and coffee have a reasonable price. The place is extremely cute, friendly staff and they have takeaway which is something I haven't seen before. Highly recommended.

Nice staff, very friendly. The cakes are £3.40 each and cupcakes are £2.40, you could go to Greggs and get a pack of cakes for that price, however the billionaire shortbread was really nice. No disabled access however, no excuse these days.

Spent Sunday afternoon in this lovely cafe, gorgeous cakes, sandwiches and drinks. It was packed when we arrived but were quickly given a table and service was excellent. It's great to have a proper tea shop away from the likes of Costa and Starbucks you should try here you won't be disappointed and will return again
