Reviews of The Bakehouse

I am a big sourdough fan and have been searching for the best sourdough I can find in the UK - It is a little unbelievable that the best sourdough I have ever tasted is right in Sherwood, Nottingham! The classic sourdough is great, with good crust and strong sour taste. The garlic & herb sourdough is also excellent and is my favorite. Yes they are slightly more expensive but the price is reflected by the high quality bakery they produce. Breakfast is good too. If you are in search of the best sourdough, you should give this a try.
J.
Brilliant food and coffee. Loved the bacon and the cheese scone. Contender for the best breakfast in Nottingham.

Love Love Love this place what a find! Although I live in St Ann’s it’s become my local spot for GOOD coffee and DIVINE bread and pastries!!
If you haven’t been, GO! You won’t be disappointed! Also the service is first class!
J.
I hadn't been back to The Bakehouse since lockdown, but was very pleasantly surprised. Its bakery products have always been first class but the lunch menu hasn't usually piqued my interest. But not any more. Spoiled for choice!
E. B.
Friendly and prompt service, amazing coffee. Will be definitely returning!
J. G.
The Bakehouse is INCREDIBLE!! Small but cosy and a handful of tables so I'd recommend booking. We went for breakfast, was a great atmosphere and service was quick and friendly. We are big coffee lovers and the coffee was spot on.. probably the best I've tasted in the UK actually. The breakfast... Oh my the breakfast! We had the full English which had locally sourced meats, very tasty baked beans & the best sour dough bread! Much more on the menu which I look forward to trying as we'd 100% be returning! Also quite fancy the lunch and supper menus too😋

This review is left during covid lockdown 2021.
The time was morning and it was not busy.
I ordered a vegetarian breakfast and oat milk cappuccino.
The good: food was well cooked well, bread was fresh and tasty, mushrooms tastes amazing ( fried and flavourful) and we're good quality.
The bad: food was served in cardboard box and was warm not hot, the bread came pre oiled/buttered, the coffee was slightly burnt,
The discussion: The premises were clean and filled with the delicious smells of a bakery. I sat outside in the warm sunshine, the staff were friendly but seemed rushed with little apparent reason for them to be so. The food was good quality but a little expensive for it to come in a take out box.
Conclusion: This is a place worth revisiting, next time I will try their baked products rather than their menu items.

100% worth it.
I ordered a delivery of the Bakemuffin and croissants.
Both are absolutely incredible.
The Bakemuffin was huge, delicious. Perfect runny egg, lovely cheese, great amount too. Perfect cooked sausage. And the muffin, so soft and fresh.
The croissants are light, fluffy and just delicious.
Will definitely be going there when able to but happy for the delivery option to ve available.

Amazing lunch here... best sandwich I've had in a long time!!!! And the Sausage roll (lunch pudding) was perfect. So perfect I almost for got to take a picture! Great coffee too!
M. M.
Glorious little place with superb breakfasts and fantastic staff. The beans are 5 star.
T. B.
Wonderful. Bread is (obviously) top notch, but so are the cakes, the breakfasts, the selection of beers, the staff, the coffees, the.... you get the point. Go visit.
R. P. W.
Delightful visit to The Bakehouse. Table service and staff were great as was the delicious food. We also stayed for a slice of Almond and Apricot Croissant Cake which was outstanding. Will be returning!
R. F.
Love The Bakehouse. Great breads and pastries, super coffees, such a great location. Just wish they were open on Mondays!
K. H.
Loved it. Very friendly, cosy and welcoming. Went on a Fri mid afternoon and was very busy so sometimes tricky to get a seat. There are some seats outside for when the weather is fine. Great selection of teas, coffees, soft drinks, beers, ciders and wines as well as gin selection. Serve delicious seasonal plates, savouries and home baked goodies. Complimentary water brought to tabke without asking. Award winning breads on display, along with quality savoury/sausage rolls to tempt you. Dog and child friendly. Lovely baby change area in toilet facilities. Free doggie biscuits. Nice decor - modern rustic.
j. h.
Happy service. given 4 star because my first visit could give 5. The smell of fresh baking is gorgeous

What a fabulous independent cafe!!
I discovered their new store in the Hockley area of Nottingham and it does not disappoint!! I can never manage to attend their Sherwood store but having them expand into the city centre is a god send 😍
Their Hockley store is chic and aesthetically pleasing to enter, plenty of seating as there is a lower level and outside seating and the coffee….uuuffff….The coffee is amazing!! It’s not normally my go to drink but from this cafe, it sure will be from now on!! I had a mocha and it was absolutely delicious!!
They had a great selection of breads and pastries on display which looked sooo yummy (watching the figure for now 😆) and they will be serving fresh made sandwiches soon (Hockley cafe)!!
I would highly recommend this cafe, the Hockley cafe and the Sherwood cafe!!
💕💕💕

Friendly staff, quick service and good quality food and drink
A. L.
Good flat white coffee and nice lunches. Had a sausage casserole with cider and mustard, very tasty. Cosy place!
E. A.
Absolutely amazing coffe and cake.
Staff so nice and friendly

Seriously, the best bread in Nottingham. Wait, the best bread in the country. Amazing breads and pastries, available to eat in or take away. Be aware there's no fresh bread at retail on Sunday, so make sure you pop in on Saturday to get that sourdough fix.
L.
Really cosy little cafe 😊 Attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere worth the short wait for a table 👌🏼
S. C.
Love this place. Food is super fresh and delicious. Service is amazing. Nice place to have a cake and coffee. I grab a cake from here all the time.
N. T.
On this particular day, neither The Pudding Pantry nor the other cafe on the road could manage to seat their customers at empty tables. Their staff were clearly struggling. The Bakehouse, despite being full and dealing with Deliveroo pickups and a steady takeaway demand, were able to manage the demand and sort all their customers. Well done, I'll be back and won't bother trying the other two places again.
N. G.
Great lunch, dog friendly, exceptional value and service, nice range of items on sale to take away as well
R. M.
Very professional, elegant ,attention to small details ,quality food with modern and European touch. A place not to be missed
J. W.
Loved it. Great coffee, cakes and breads. Highly recommended xx
g. h.
Their reputation for bread baking is well earned. They also stock Outpost coffee now which, in my mind, is up there with the best in the country. Certainly my preferred roaster/supplier
L. P.
Seriously some of the best sausages rolls I’ve ever had!
We come most weekends to get sourdough for breakfast and it is to die for, add in a cheeky sausage roll and a 200 degree coffee and you have the start to a perfect weekend.
Staff are always friendly and helpful - this place is a real asset for Sherwood
S. E.
We got 2 fantsstic pizzas and some beer for date night in woodthorpe park. Try the truffle pizza!
E. S.
Is so good we've been back for two weeks tasting this amazing tapas. Absolutely beautiful! Taste sensation! Lovely atmosphere too. Pork belly is a fave as well as the mushrooms, It's all delicious. you must try! I have a red wine and finish off with a luxurious hot chocolate 👌what a way to finish a Friday night .
I. R.
Wow this place gets busy! Amazing breads and cakes to take away, awesome coffee and dishes to eat in, great service with a smile and really comfortable decor with eclectic chairs and tables. Throw in that they are dog friendly, this is a brilliant lunchtime visit. They are also licensed and had a very broad selection of beers so I will pop back for an evening and I'm looking forward to it.
T. U.
Cosy and friendly. Food is tasty, the kedgeree us delicious but the sausage and lentil stew was disappointing. Too much strong tomato flavour which masked any other tastes. Cakes are very good, and very generous portions. Service friendly and helpful.
E. B.
Had really lovely breakfast here Monday morning. Great price, quality food. Got brownies to go and that was very delicious too. Lovely atmosphere to study, work or read while having a bite. Highly recommended 😊
V. P.
LOVE this place, such a friendly bakery/ cafe and bar! Popped in for lunch and ended up staying for hours with a coffee and cake too! Brilliant atmosphere, very friendly staff and owners. The food and drinks were faultless and we also took a loaf home to enjoy the next day which was delicious!
Can't wait to come back :)
S. B.
Lovely coffee & cake on a Sunday 😊
N. V.
Food was well presented and very tasty. Small venue so advised to book. Lovely atmosphere and good value. We had the tapas, which came in small dishes but 2 was quite enough, with the bread.
C. P.
Great setting and atmosphere.
Breads and cakes freshly baked on site. Really good quality coffee (also licensed if you fancy something stronger).
Staff super friendly and helpful.
Whoever is in charge has got this place just right. Can't recommend this highly enough.
J. E.
Superb flat-white. Some very interesting looking cake, sausage rolls crammed with meat. I enjoyed an excellent toasted tea cake. Did I mention, good service too?
T. N.
Great relaxed atmosphere and great food which will please veggies and meat eaters. Good value and situated on the bustling main road in Sherwood. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and they have a well stocked dessert menu. A must for a coffee and pastries or lunch.
t. o.
only visited since lockdown and honestly have had the best sausage rolls, cheesecake, scones ever so glad I did will, bread kits are fab too, will definitely be coming to experience the menu when you're back open 👍🏾
N. D.
Outstanding, had a BLT from here, asked for the bacon well done, was coated in avocado, but that could only be a good thing, really was outstanding. Cakes too just as good. If I lived locally I'd be down there every week - clearly 5 stars
Z. R.
The brunch and coffee was delicious and served quickly, the staff weren't overly friendly but they were busy. The price is a little on the high side but the ingredients were high quality. I was let down with no salt and pepper but actually appalled that sweetner wasn't available in a coffee shop! Invest in some sweetener and get 2 more stars!
K. W.
Nice place. Only their products are open to " human elements"where people are able to cough and sneeze over them. So I personally won't try them even though I love good bakery products and they look nice. Maybe if they were covered?
c. t.
Special place to enjoy well prepared delicious food of a very high standard the chef is Wendy who is highly talented.
The artisan breads are on a higher level..
Well done to all the team for a very enjoyable lunch today Wed..9th...Jan..
Look forward to sampling the 'tapas' super menu....
J. A.
Nice surroundings, attentive staff, reasonable prices. Whilst I appreciate its a bakery I would point out that a toasty on fancy breads is just wrong. Toasties should be at least offered with the option of regular sliced loaf - as they should be!
V. H.
Great bakery to visit. Bought fennel and black pepper sausage rolls and also cheese and pickle twists, delicious.
T. B.
Good coffee and fabulous looking cakes and bread, can't wait to revisit and stock up.
D. V.
This is a great spot. We used it for a quick meeting so we only had coffee but we saw food being delivered to tables around us and it all looked delicious. I'd like to go back for a breakfast. The coffee was good and the place was quite full, giving it a nice vibe.
E. W.
The bakehouse is always super amazing. Their bread is good, and a wide selection of vegan options.
S. E.
Delicious fried duck egg and avocado with harissa on sourdough toast
C. H.
Lovely place for a tea or coffee with a wide selection of savoury and sweet treats to tempt the tastebuds, as well as the glorious selection of fresh baked breads each day. So very lucky to have this so close to home 👍👏
P. A.
A great and contemporary bakehouse.
Warm and contemporary artisan feel but with all the classics one would want for a quick lunch.
N. L.
Loved, loved the tapas this evening and such excellent value for money. Freshly prepared, very tasty and award-winning bread to die for. Service prompt and staff delightful. Will return!
D. F.
Exceptional friendly service. Make sure you visit The Bakehouse if you are in Sherwood. The coffee and sausage rolls are always first class. Highly recommended.
J. K.
Our favourite, and almost weekly, breakfast spot. Great brekky and amazing coffee. Friendly staff and a really nice feel to the place. Couldn’t ask for more !
A. K.
.....and it's an obvious five stars from me. Lovely coffee and brownie. Lovely vibe and totally dumbo free,
on what has been a stressful mercury retrograde day.😯
Very hipster and reminiscent of funky Brighton or London hangouts. ☺
M. M.
Nice stop off point to grab some snacks and coffee in these covid times. Nice range of baked goods of pretty good quality, although there is room for improvement :)
R. B.
Nice place, nice food, nice staff.
Food choices are good, portion to price may seem to be out of sync to some reviewers but I'd much sooner give money to small businesses than Wetherspoons.
The food tastes great, sat outside mid October and watched the world trundle past. I'd recommend you all do the same.
P. J.
Excellent bread particularly the sourdough
J. W.
Well priced, good food which is different. Tapas for those who aren't use it are fairly small dishes, you probably want to order multiple for a decent sized main.
R. C.
The toasted home made bread and cheese with Worcester sauce just device, reminded me of my Portuguese bread, the latte with amazing crema and really well micrbubbled frothy milk really nice, and the coffee comes through the milk with a hint of toasted wheat. We also had the Victoria sponge, the taste really nice but i felt could have done away with the icing top and middle as made cake far too sugary and sweet would have preferred a vanilla or no flavour whipped cream with a small hint of sweetness as most sweetness will be delivered by the strawberry jam and to be totally honest was a little dry so maybe covering to retain moisture would be a good idea. But was eggy and delicious well done overall to this little gem of a cafe.
S. P.
Always a pleasure, but only room for 4 people to sit inside!
A. C.
We had the fritata and the Cauliflower bake followed by a caramel button brownie... Was this amazing or what....by the way I am a Chef... The fritata black olive and courgettes was delicious topped with a chunky tomato sauce and bits of salad with coriander which cuts through the egg nicely.... The baked cauliflower was also accompanied by baked potato pieces and was curry marinated which was also amazing..... And the brownie nice not too sweet and chewy and sticky a perfect finish all washed down with an almond latte... Simply a must visit take it from the chef.
L. A.
Love this place so much that once we ate breakfast there we took a walk and came back later for cake. Great coffee and atmosphere.
S. K.
Lovely 200° coffee and cakes also good selection of craft beer and whisky. Professional service and nice loft interior. Highly recommended.
U. K.

I. S.
Micro brewery, coffee shop and eatery. Found this place by accident but will make an effort to re-visit. Coffee was just perfect and the staff interaction with punters was great to watch.
C. M.
Excellent cafe, with lovely coffee and food. Also a good selection of beer including local breweries like Black Iris
A. B.
Great place for breakfast at the weekend (or on any day really!). Take the opportunity to grab yourselves some delicious bread or pastries on the way out.
P. W.
Pleasant food and service. A bit pricy, but that's how Sherwood is going, so to be expected. All in all a nice enough place, but wouldn't rush back.
G. l.
Reasonable place. We were asked to move table to make space even tho there was 2 of us and 2 of them. Bit lacking on snacks also coffee good but not great
A. R.
I have been a few times recently, it serves home made sandwiches and croissant. But it is frequented by slightly to many mother baby groups so loud unruly children are quite common.
L. B.
Bought a few bread kits from these guys over lockdown amazing service and quality the jams are brilliant and staff are so friendly!
H. C. S.
Good coffee but rather small for the price, but overall experience was good and would recommend
C. R.
Lovely little local business serving amazing coffee, pastries and pizza!

The Bakehouse is a great place with great drinks and great pastries, but due to size limitations there's not alot of food or options, what it has to offer is great and everything they have is nice, there's great service and nice people
L. C.
The location is great and the staff are friendly. The food is excellent but the coffee is pretty average.
