Reviews of Flori Bakery
D. C.
Went to Flori bakery for first time today. Was so looking forward to tasty pastries given all the positive reviews. Pastries looked amazing and ordered a whole bunch. Imagine my disappointment when I plated up to find 2 burnt ham and cheese pastries. Pretty much inedible. Should never have been served to us….I hope this is just a blip as the cheese and lingonberry pastries were excellent

Delicious pastries! Had to queue for a while to get in, but you can understand why this place is so popular once you've tasted the food! A little on the pricey side so definitely a bit of a treat, but it's certainly worth it. Do not leave this place without buying one of their chocolate chip cookies - they are to die for! 😍

After watching friends try these amazing pastries for close on 2 years, I decided I'd had enough and would make the trip; it was most definitely worth it!
Visiting 2 days consecutively there was a great variety, changing across both days, with some of the staples (i.e. croissants and cookies) staying present.
The pastries themselves are absolutely DELICIOUS, almost transporting you into a small french pattisserie somewhere in the south of France. The chocolate and almond croissants had the perfect level of crunch and chocolate, with a subtle but present taste of almond throughout. However, the standout items were the cardamon and cinnamon buns, incredibly tasty enriched dough which bold flavours of each spice, they were delightfully sticky and a real treat.
Whilst these aren't the cheapest pastries going, the quality and sheer size of each item is more than enough to warrant their price; and who doesn't like supporting a small independent bakery?!
The staff are also extremely friendly, and happy to chat to you about each pastry, as well as informing you if anything is about to come out the oven. A real treat, and definitely worth visiting if you're anywhere near by!

Excellent pastry, very buttery and flaky. A tad expensive but you get what you paid for. Will definitely return.

I thought hard before saying this but…. I think this place makes the best croissant I’ve ever eaten!! In 2 days myself and my wife ate 6 of their products, all of them very nice.
A little pricey but this is a quality product, so I would expect to have a slightly high price attached.
Highly recommend a visit!

Now this bakery is one worth going out of the York city walls for. They have a range of sweet to savory bakes which rest on the slightly more expensive side but are all exceptionally different that it's worth the splurge. I think all of them would be worth having. The only reason this place lost one star was the fact its drinks are rather sub-par so I would not recommend you go for any of their coffees and just stick to the baked goods.

very interesting takes on French classic but they work!
ham and cheese croissant
bacon and maple twists
some other delicious pastries with asparagus
if only the cafe area was bigger
staff is very welcoming and work tirelessly baking new stuff so it is all very fresh
R. A.
Fun little bakery, nice choice of products. Quite different and the taste is supreme when compared to all the usual British bakeries.
However, the prices go up to 4.5-5£ for a single pastry.

Exquisite pastries and a warm welcome every time. I must now be in the double digits of different Flori treats I have tried, and each one has been on another level. The atmosphere feels so positive and friendly that you can't help but feel incredibly happy to spend your money here. I'm inspired by their incredible talent and the pastry haven they have created.

Why would you get your pastries from anywhere else?! Unbelievable! No words can describe the quality and sensational taste...just go...you will not be disappointed! A piece of advice, whatever you buy, make sure you add on a cookie too, you do not want to miss out on the cookies! Best I have ever tasted!

Can't recommend highly enough. Lovely independent bakery. Delicious goods and lovely friendly staff. But get there early! They are very popular.
S. S.
Best pastry bakery in town, if not the whole of Yorkshire! Lovely people behind the counter crafting with their love and passion every day that create a smile onto customers faces.
Z. X.
Decent quality pastries! (Slightly expensive but nice)
T. K.
Amazingly value for money (considering it's Artisan) and wonderful service.
The Kanelbullar (swedish cinnamon bun) was my favourite out of my purchases. And I've spent months around Sweden and Norway to be able to judge that these were a pretty good standard.
M. W.
Love the pastries from this great bakery. Really friendly staff. Be prepared for a bit of a queue, it is really popular!
E. W.
We came across this little bakery during our morning dog walk into town. There’s always been a queue and was intrigued to see what people were buying! So we decided to join the queue this morning and sample the baked delights!! It was worth the wait as the goodies were freshly baked through the night! There were a lovely selection including cardamom buns, humongous pain au Chocolat, brownies etc. We plumped for 2 almond croissants, an Americano and iced coffee! The ladies behind the ‘bench’ were friendly and welcoming! The croissants were absolutely delightful, fresh, soft and with the right amount of almond paste and toasted almonds. They were huge too! But I managed to eat the lot! I couldn’t resist! The coffees were a lovely accompaniment too! We will definitely be back again to try the other baked goodies! What a wonderful find!!

Flori was highly recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint, the pastries are absolutely delicious. I’d recommend anyone to go, definitely the BEST bakery in York 👌🏻
H. S.
OMG. What a hidden gem, pastries as big as my head 🥐 I had a pain au chocolat and a coffee it came to just over £6, really enjoyed my visit whilst in York 🥰
S. B.
I absolutely love this place. The people, the food, the coffee. Just superb. You think you know what a good pastry is, and then you go to Flori and realise how wrong you've been

I came in quite a few times last year and my overall take away is that its a nice, minimalistic shop with good food and coffee. Unfortunately its quite expensive for what it is. Especially as its located to so many nice local bakeries, too. The vibe is very cool and exactly what 20somethings that find find themselves in York, but would much rather be in LA, would like. Good music!
From what I can gather from Instagram, all the staff are friends with each other which makes for a chill, yet clique-y atmosphere, so I never truly felt welcome to be honest - like I was a stranger at a party I wasn't actually really invited to. What always irked me was that I was charged too much for the iced coffee (which is truly delicious!) every single time I ordered one. Always about 40 p more than the price list stated... I never said anything (which is my fault) but I honestly think it was in part due to that easy going, "we're all friends here sort of" feel.
T. B.
Yummy bakeries, freshly made, warm and ready to be eaten, it is difficult to resist the temptation to buy them all !
Bring your container to avoid the bakery put in a single use paper bag.
L. R.
Absolutely incredible pastry - super friendly as well!
R. S.
I was up early, too early for the bigger breakfast cafes. Flori bakery saved me with a good coffee and even greater pastry. Thank you!
T. D.
Good coffee and pastries. Well worth a visit.
I. C.
Amazing quality. Pastry is like heaven although it is a bit pricey
M. W.
Excellent local bakery serving artisan pastries and other baked delicious delights! Excellent coffee too👍
d. h.
Outstanding pastry, cinnamon morning bun
E. P.
This little bakery does the BEST patisseries I have ever tasted in the UK. Really innovative and delicious flavours. I particularly love the asparagus croissant, and the vanilla custard that's in some of the fruit based pastries. Well worth queuing!
B. L.
We live a minute's walk away from Flori. A lot of five-star reviews here, but for me the bakery items are too greasy and a little too expensive. I'd prefer a fresher and cleaner taste that doesn't leave me reflexively reaching for the Gaviscon Double Action.
H. M. (.
Worth a short walk from the city centre. Lovely staff, outrageous croissants and great coffee as well!
M.
For someone who used to drink coffee with cardamom, then to find a place selling cardamom buns, it's like dream come true. A tad expensive for pastries tho.
S. R.
Best bakery in town and possibly the most charming people in York too. Such a gem.
N. F.
Beautiful stunning location right by York's ancient city walls, amidst a quaint & pleasant row of shops.
M. J.
Nice but not outstanding - also expensive for what it is, £4.50 for a pastry is a lot!
E. s.
Superb pastries from here, will definitely be back when it York. Pretty pricey though (and that is coming from a Londoner!)
J. S.
My son loves this place, but I thought the pasty was a bit dry and not much flavour
J. R.
Lived in York for the best part of 4 years. I've tried all the bakeries in the city centre and Flori is the best I think. Excellent pastel de nata. All bakes are delicious that I've tried. Very impressive. Only downside is a very long queue to wait in and fairly expensive pricing. Both are testament to the excellent quality of the bakery. Lovely owners too.
w.
Always fresh and amazing baked goods with quality ingredients. Such a treat !
M. H.
Super tasty pastries. Our favourite is the ham and cheese croissants and the chocolate chip cookies. Get here early!
C. T.
Great freshly baked pastries, small queue when we visited, but worth it for some of the best croissants and pastries. Must go if you are visiting York!
L. B.
This bakery serves life changingly good pastries. My favourite is the cruffin which is a muffin shape with a croissant texture filled with fruit and custard - they are amazing. I recommend getting there early for the best choice. The staff are super friendly and it's great to be supporting such a wonderful local business!
M. A. D.
Happy bakers producing excellent pastries and very good coffee
J. S. A.
They are great! We had a croissant, a bacon and maple syrup pastry and a "pastel de nata" and they were all fantastic.
We'll be going again and I absolutely recommend it.
E. C.
Love Flori takes me back to the South of France and being on holiday. Exceptional quality and always worth the queue. Get up early if you don't have time to queue.
A. A.
Nice chocolate croissant.

I’ve never left a review for anything before, but this is honestly the best bakery I have ever been to. Absolutely amazing! Really good service too, immediately came here to leave 5 stars.
P. M.
Really good flat whites. Freshly-baked pastries. Not cheap but worth it.

J. R.
Lovely Bakery with lots of different and very tasty pastries to try. The difficult part is deciding what to have! Well worth a visit for a cake & coffee from Flori. 😋
R.
A newly opened place. If you want to buy their pastry, you should be there in the morning. Tastes very good. Coffee is also nice.
At this moment they only accepts credit/debit card payments.
A. L.
The quality of baked goods from here are on another level! These guys are the real deal. If in York you MUST try them. Added to this their service is second to none with an amazing bunch of people always going that extra mile to please! Thank you! Adam and Hannah.
S. G.
