Reviews of The Cornish Bakery
M. A. W.
Our stop every Wednesday for a delicious flat white. Super kind attendant and everything seems to me to be done with affection. Thank you
C. B.
Quaint little bakery, well priced and the food was flavourful and high quality.
Staff were really nice and the shop is located in the more open square area so if there's someone performing there you can see it and even sit outside.

Apart from the pastries which is the main purpose of our visit the customer service suits the quality of the products.
One major thing I like about this place is that they are experimental trying new flavors. Now I find myself checking in any time I am in York to try them, my excuse to keep eating them.
Also enjoy the sausage rolls as that is my comfort food. Ideal for the cheats if you are a fitness figure like myself.

Was passing this bakery and decided to give it a try. So pleased we did! Coffee was fabulous, staff were lovely and friendly. They were very knowledgeable about their products too. Will definitely return next time we are in the city centre.

Fantastic venue and outstanding staff. Brownie as per my 11yr old was the best he's had in ages. Highly recommend a visit here for great coffee and pasties. Staff are superb and friendly nothings too much.
L. K.
Love this place. The coffee is amazing and the staff are really friendly. I usually just grab a coffee and go but on my visit this week I stayed and sat in. Love the atmosphere here and plan many more visits.
A. S.
Although the food was lovely. I was annoyed that I had to show my girlfriend driving license in order to use the blue light card. I had to leave the shop to find her across the road to grab her id. Even though she was just in with me a few minutes ago.
D. B.
Have to say that the sausage rolls that these do are the best I have ever tasted. Yes, they are more expensive than Gregg's and other similar bakeries but they really are amazing and worth the money.
T. K.
Receiving 5 stars due to the Cherry Almond croissant. Great value for money and so delicious
I only tried the Cheese and Onion pasty which was ok. But returned 3x for the croissant

We stumbled upon this lovely place whilst exploring the city and so pleased we did, pasties are so tasty and the manager was a wealth of knowledge about the local area giving us loads of tips for seeing as much of the city as possible. We will recommend to friends visiting the city and will return ourselves. Thank you for fantastic service
A. C.

We received a very cordial welcome on a Sunday morning (8.45am). The pastries were tasty and teas (including rooibos) spot on.
H. B.
The Thai pasty was delicious and filling. Hubby had a toasties which he also enjoyed. The people serving were really friendly and it was nice to see them back open again. Dont normally leave reviews for takeaway but they deserve it
A. B.
A great little shop with reliable and efficient customer service. Always a fave place to visit.
M. K.
Very helpful and welcoming staff, good selection of food and drink at reasonable and affordable prices. Not the best place for an eat in experience but is a great shop for take away lunch/ snacks.
B. M.
Very friendly staff, some seating but no toilets. Staff really helpful with pointing us to nearest toilets though!
Food was good and made effort to get kids hot chocolate to sensible temp before serving which was appreciated by greedy toddler.

I used to live in Cornwall and believe me I have eaten a lot of pasties these are as good as any I have had
we had a pastie and a coffee each perfect to go food clean and friendly
S.
Friendly staff, but slow service. We purchased Lamb & Mint and Traditional pasties - the Lamb was the tastier of the two, but we both found them to be quite watery and without much flavour in the filling. However, the pastry was nice
A. T.
Lovely bakery & friendly staff. Stopped by for a pasty and the choice is massive.. guided by the lovely lady behind the counter I ended up with a vegan spiced cauliflower one, gorgeous!
G. M.
Visited both branches of The Cornish Bakery over the last couple of weekends. Staff have been friendly, chatty, helpful and patient, particularly with social distancing measures in place. Tasty food and great value for money.
T. S.
Very fresh food. Kate the manager was friendly and pleasant taking trouble to train new staff. Made us very welcome
S. R.

My husband and I bought 6 of their large traditional pasties which were absolutely delicious, packed full of flavour and piping hot. I also purchased a pork, apple and cider one but sadly this one let me down. I only found one piece of pork at the end and seemed to be a rather mushy apple and potato pasty, it just lacked any flavour at all, however the pastry was well cooked and good. Bit of a disappointment but doesn't put me off trying any others just not the pork one.
E. B.
Absolutely fantastic . A must if you want an authentic taste of Cornwall without the 7 hour drive. Really not to be missed.
M. G.
Such friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere in the cafe. Tasty scones and cake. Well worth a visit.
J. E.
The bakery has a really nice pastry selection which is good, and an alright sandwich spread. The sandwiches aren't really anything to speak of, but they are in a convenient location and are fresh. No real seating really is an inconvenience, but a good place if you are in a pinch.
J. H.
Really delicious Pasties, also the French bread style Pizza's are great. For £2 it is also affordable, compared to a competing Cornish Pasty outlet close by, that charges double.
Only downside, they charge 40p extra per item to eat in, which in my view is way too much, hence 4 stars not 5!
S. T.
Wow got to be the best Cornish pasties outside Cornwall
M. P.
The Cornish pasties are totally authentic. The ingredients including the spice mixture are exactly right. Absolutely delicious. It's like being in Falmouth minus the sea(gulls)! No picture cos I ate it in 5 minutes flat!
T. M.
I love the Cornish pudding is very nice. I truly recommend the "pastel de nata" a portuguese speciality... accompanied with coffee is very tasty.
P. T.
staff very friendly and good food - coffee amongst the best - clean and tidy inside - good value as well - thanks a lot!
D. M.

M. S.
Lovley staff very friendly and professional

Delicious and very affordable. I had to chicken bake for only two pounds. I took two more to the train. I recommand strongly if you are in York and want to have a delicious lunch at an excellant price.
J. W.
Just wanted a quick bite to eat whilst on the go and the chicken ham and leek pasty was delicious
N. K.
friendly staff and nice food
Z. J.
Being of Cornish descent lots of places wouldn't know what a proper Cornish pasty was if it jumped up and hit them in the face. The same cannot be said about a traditional pasty from this place. Correct filling and cut of meat. Proper job!
A. P.
Nice pasty nice coffee polite staff sat outside on a table
G. K.
After doing the Escape room across the road we worked up an appetite and this did not disappoint. Lovely bakery with super friendly staff recommend to all

Popped in for large cornish pasty and a cheese and onion pasty. They were delicious and the lady who served us was very helpful and friendly. Thank you.
S. W.
Beautiful cheese and onion pasties. Only downside is the thick crust round the edge and the price is a bit expensive.
H. P.
Really nice fresh pasty, hot and delicious, fab customer service as well.
D. H.
