Wonderful staff, lovely room but who thought it was a good idea to have it in the middle of nowhere? Obviously the person who doesn't know Liverpool. I have to get two buses and walk for 20 minutes each way - I am 70years old and suffer from arthritis in my knee. I realise you may get office staff popping in on their lunch break but I doubt if you get shoppers, people picking children up from school, people meeting for coffee etc. I don't know how long more I can keep attending unless you can advise me of a centre more accessible, which I would feel dreadful about.

Giving blood saves lives, everyone should do it. Proud to a be a regular donor. Just do it, the first visit is the best, the nurses take very good care of you. Don't worry if you're ever told you can't donate, there are lots of reasons why the may not take a donation (including where you've travelled recently). All discussed in private consultation room. Staff that I met seemed nice enough,but at no point was I told to check if my veins where good enough,so traveled for hour to get there only to unfortunately be turned away as my veins not suitable.Have never had anything mentioned before when having blood taken,but was told by the staff member by veins appeared too thin to take the needle.I’m disappointed as would of liked to help but there you go.

I donated blood for the first time today and I fainted in the chair after giving blood. The nurses there were very helpful after i'd woken up and even stayed after it had closed to make sure that I was okay.

Be a good person and give blood today, it's easy and doesn't hurt. Free coffee, sandwiches and biscuits, friendly staff and the pre-donation tests can warn you of health problems.
