Reviews of Lambeth Bridge
B. S.
Not much to say about a bridge, other than it worked for crossing the river. Good views to the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye while there.
A. P.
Lovely place for a walk enjoying a mixed view, the bridge divides two different scenarios: ancient and modern…fascinating!
J. N.
Great views right next to a superb coffee kiosk
D. A.
A very scenic walk along the Southbank Riverside to Lambeth Bridge and Palace. Surrounded by Historic buildings nestled amongst modern structures.
A. J.
It was a lovely walk along the bridge with a stunning view ! I recommend anyone to walk by during a sunny day :)
A. W.
Quiet bridge from which you can see the nearby Westminster Bridge, St Thomas Hospital and the beautiful Thames.
E. T.
Beautiful place for a walk by Thames. There are benches around and many landmarks to admire. Really close to tube stations, amenities and the houses of Parliament and London Eye. Always enjoy a walk and a coffee there.
m.
One of the many bridges near Westminster for pedestrians and traffic to cross the River Thames. There's nothing especially noteworthy about the bridge that would make you want to go out of the way to see it. The bridge does have an eye catching colour scheme. Parts of the bridge is conspicuously painted in a red/pink scheme. Supposedly because it's the same colour as the leather benches in the House of Lords. The bridge is fairly clean and as it's further from the Houses of Parliament, there's a lot less tourists and lets you enjoy the views of the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and the River Thames without fear of getting trampled by the horde of visitors.
M. C.
Visit the nice garden on the south end of the bridge. Books to read in there as well.
A. F.
Beautiful view across to the river from the obelisks topped with pinecones ( or some say 🍍🍍) on the Lambeth Palace side
R. I.
Lambeth Bridge is a road traffic and footbridge crossing the River Thames in an east-west direction in central London. The river flows north at the crossing point. Downstream, the next bridge is Westminster Bridge; upstream, the next bridge is Vauxhall Bridge.
On the east side, in Lambeth, are Lambeth Palace, the Albert Embankment, St. Thomas' Hospital, and the International Maritime Organization. On the west side, in Westminster, are Thames House (the headquarters of MI5), behind which is Horseferry House (the National Probation Service headquarters), and Clelland House and Abell House (the headquarters of HM Prison Service), and the Millbank Tower and Tate Britain. The Palace of Westminster is a short walk downstream to the north through the Victoria Tower Garden.
S. I.
Is the perfect place you are the best feel of the Thames river and very good for running and exercising and also cycling I wish to be there every day
M.
Come here 4-5 hours before 11.59 pm of Dec 31 and you’ll see the fireworks 🎇 so close .
P. P.
This is another lovely iron bridge crossing from horseferry road North of the river to Lambeth road Southside. There is more London skyline to admire from this bridge due to the location of Parliament and Lambeth Palace. Another great bridge to walk over with easy walks from Millbank and Albert Embankment depending on which side of the river you choose. Lovely and recommended as part of the Silver Jubilee walkway.
R. A. D. o. V.
A few years back I read in High Life (an on-board magazine by British Airways for their air travellers) that there was a plan to refurbish all of the bridges across the Thames in its London section and supply them with modern LED decorative lighting.
I think, such works had been completed for Lambeth Bridge; it looks really nice at night, although the bridge itself is in a good state of repair but not particularly remarkable.
It spans across River Thames at Cromwell Park (which is at the western
side of the Houses of Parliament) on the North Bank at right next to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in the South bank (London Borough of Lambeth) with downtown sights such as former manufacturing site of Royal Doulton China factory, BHP of the London Fire Brigade and their Museum as well as Lambeth Palace, Evelina Children's Hospital, Florence Nightingale Museum and St Thomas' Hospital nearby. It is located between Vauxhall Bridge and Westminster Bridge on the river (upstream and downstream respectively).
D. O.
Beautiful area. So many landmarks you can see from the bridge.
C. J.
Very well constructed bridge. Westminster palace can be spotted in the distance on the bridge, and the view looks great at night. This is also the bridge the knight bus drives through in the Harry Potter movies.
K. G.
Saw the fireworks on New Years from this bridge and oh it felt so good! As of course didn’t hear the music but the count down was loud enough for the whole of London to hear it! The tickets for New Years show got sold out within minutes and this was our best resort to see the fire works! We did manage to get a good view but since everybody (including me) was trying to capture the night on their phones, it felt like there were more phones in the sky than fire crackers! This is indeed the best place to watch the fireworks on New Years just in case one doesn’t manage to get the tickets!
c. m.
Nice place for a walk and the view is amazing!
V. I.
One of the most beautiful places in London! !!!
Every single day of the year this location is breathtaking.
It's nice to walk around and waching the boats going up and down the river.
Very open space that will relax you and charge your body with good energy.
Some winter days though especially when it's very windy it's freezing cold.
Alot of people choose this area for jogging.
Safety has increased on both sides of the bridge so cars can't actually hit the pedestrians.
K. A.
Such an under rated bridge. Adjacent to Lambeth Palace and rarely busy with traffic. A nice walk along the South side of the embankment on both sides.
Not much of a photo opp, but good views of Vauxhall and it's sprouting high rises on one side as well as Westminster Bridge and Parliament with the London Eye not far beyond on the other.
R. A.
good fun, had a friendly bicycle ride but found it very hard to leave
D. L.
Watched the new years come in around hear, as you can see and imagine the fireworks was stunning. Well worth seeing.
D. S.
It was a special trip to London with my wife, it was such a lovely day to do a lot of walking and seeing some sights while there..
D. S.
Great place to view down the Thames westwords in the winter.
B. F.
It was a great experience to be on a boat, it was my first. Higly recommended. Also was a fantastic day out with hubby, walking around, have some food, drink.
L. K.
Very picturesque. We went mudlarking along the Thames and under this bridge. It has a convenient staircase down to the river.
S. J.
Great service provided today.
We hired the vessel to scatter my sister ashes.
A very emotional day but the staff on the vessel was very polite and patient with us as well as respectable with our situation.
C. E.
This offers some great photos of Big Ben, the River Thames, House of Lords, London Eye among many other things. I would suggest this bridge if you want to cross to the other side because it tends to be less busy making it easier to gain a clear photo but also successful navigate.
S. P.
Part of the London experience. Walking along the Thames, and crossing the bridges on foot is a great feeling.
J. G.
Just a fab place to be, sights of London and good walk along the river
I. L. (. G.
Officially the bridge of borough, it's quite a beautiful bridge I know most people say what you see one well you have seen them all well I would disagree this bridges also stated quite close to the houses of parliament and st Thomas's hospital..... I use to find this bridge quite boring, now that had all changed.
R. G.
Excellent view of the Thames, Parliament, and Big Ben. As of this month, the only view of Ben without scaffolding.
S.
Went to Lambeth bridge yesterday to see the fireworks happening at London eye.
A. D.
Architecture amazing and hotspot for much activity and traffic. Bus routes.Weird tree in centre of traffic roundabout tells you approx 10 mins to Tate or 10 mins to Houses of Parliament. 15 mins to sandwich shops for all the offices which are cheap and handy in otherwise expensive area of tourist Zone 1.
F. G.
Amazing view. Perfect for pictures
M. R.
New years fireworks and views from Lambeth Bridge. Absolutely stunning!! 😍
D. H.
Unfortunately there was a cycle accident when I was there. But otherwise it was excellent. A very hot day in June 2020.
S. K.
Great sweeping views of London from the River Thames nice historical Bridge adjacent to Lambeth Palace aside from that there is nearby Close access to the covid-19 memorial wall situated just a few minutes along the River on the south side on the River wall of st. Thomas's Hospital
M. N.
Lovely 😍 place, quiet at the moment 👌
A. C.
Came here to watch the NYE fireworks 2019. The view was good, alittle off angle but good.
M. A. T.
Lovely to visit the @GardenMuseumLDN just by Lambeth Bridge yesterday - wonderful, peaceful garden & cafe
J. P.
Come on - this is just a bridge. Expect nothing out of the ordinary and you won't be disappointed.
O. M.
This place is very close to river Thames and you can see a Big Ben and a Parliament.
s. h.
This place has a great view.. unfortunately the city was empty due to COV19, but will never get to see it this empty again.
S. G.
Great view of Westminster, without the crowd of Westminster bridge!
A. D.
Nice bridge. Not as good as other bridges, but nice.
K. F.
Can see Big Ben and Westminster from this bridge. But there are much more scenic bridges!
S. S.
Beautiful view from the bridge
O. N.
Not one of the most famous bridges over the Thames, it has some elegant design and offers nice views of Westminster, the London Eye and the City of London in the distance. Part of a nice walk if you love walking along the river Thames like I do.
D. S.
So what can make a bridge amazing? New Years Eve fireworks! Have to get there four hours in advance to get a view from the side walk on the proper side, or you will only be able to see the highest fireworks.
J. P.
Beautiful bridge near London Eyes
E. M.
I was among the large crowd of cyclists that were kettled and arrested on the 3rd September. The highlight was the fantastic view of London from this beautiful bridge. The lowlight was the cell in Wandsworth police station where I ended up. Lets hope the governments of the World take action on the climate emergency before it is too late. Terrific bridge well worth a visit
M. P.
London is the greatest city in the world. It is very big an has a great history.
M. A. C.
Nice historic place beauty of London .
B. A.
You have a great view of River Thames from here. You can also access other tourist centres like Big Ben, Westminster, Coca-Cola London Eye, London Sea life, London Dungeons etc. The proximity of the bridge to all these important places makes it an important place to visit.
E. P. &. D. L. U.
Lambeth Bridge is a road traffic and footbridge crossing the River Thames in an east-west direction in central London. The river flows north at the crossing point. Downstream, the next bridge is Westminster Bridge; upstream, the next bridge is Vauxhall Bridge.
The most conspicuous colour in the bridge's paint scheme is red, the same colour as the leather benches in the House of Lords, which is at the southern end of the Palace of Westminster nearest the bridge. This is in contrast to Westminster Bridge, which is predominantly green, the same colour as the benches in the House of Commons at the northern end of the Houses of Parliament.
A. E.
I love bridges especially walking across at night summer times the view at sunset and sundown is mindblowing you need to make sure you are there for the entire times just stand back and admire the beauty off nature this bright is not the most popular as others but it still does the job.
K. R.
Loved the place beside the Thames... Have witnessed the new year fireworks from there...Nice place
L. W.
Refreshing, peaceful and relaxing 😌
P. Z.
Found it a nice enjoyment crossing the bridge on my first visit to this part of the Thames , well done on keeping the maintenance of the bridge so high.
M. C.
Good bridge. Dry. Looks quite pretty. Steepish ramps on each side. Let down by too much traffic.
J. B.
It's a bridge, it goes over water, how can I review it heheh
v. D.
Lovely old bridge great views lovely thames path wallks and the gardening museum near lambeth Palace is great 👍
P. O.
This is a excellent place to go. I went up on the time is now movement with the Extinction Rebellion and friends of the Earth Christian Aid were also present. The time is now to act on climate change we must do this and if it means walking Man parliament cross the Lambeth Bridge then so be it we need some good luck our way so do Grant us the best you can
A. B.
Great place to watch the London to Brighton run. Made a nice change.
M. B.
It's a bridge. Very useful for crossing the river.
V. P. R. d. G. A.
Nice
P. C.
It's a very nice bridge with obelisks at both sides at each end. Useful if you're in Lambeth and want to be in Westminster and visa-versa. Not exactly sure why Google is asking me to review a bridge.
h. o.
Cool views
L. G.
Great view of parliament, big Ben and the London eye
G. M.
One can get a nice spot to view the London eye. Good and free spot will be available here to see London eye fireworks on New year's Eve.
P. B.
Bridge over Thames offers good view of house of parliament, London eye and Vauxhall skyscrapers. Ofter overlooked, yet certainly great place for tourists to take fantastic pictures of London
A. K.
Nice old fashioned bridge on Thames.
*** Best spot for a photograph with MI5 Headquarters in the background.
Worth a stroll if your are walking on the river bank.
N. A.
Nice bridge, went there to see new year celebrations as we didn't had tickets for embankment area. You can get a clear view of London Eye on one side and on the other London Tower Bridge
C. c.
Love here
M. A.
It was a lovely Day so I had a lovely walk from St Thomas's Hospital near the river bank down to the embankment.
O. P.
Beautiful views of the Thames:) nice church and a little garden- old graveyard- nearby. Would be good to have a walk there in a sunny day:)
T. M. K.
Harry Potter it the big attraction in London and this bridge is connected to it as they say. One of the scenes with the triple decker bus was shot here. So kids make photos here. From the other side of the bridge you see the Parliament in the background and the London Eye.
C. G.
Best view of the New Year Fireworks. However it tends to get crowded and my sweet spot is quite dangerous as the Met Police did ask me to get down 😉
K. S.
Strange, but Lambeth bridge is my favourite one.
K. K.
Get chance to visualize very closely using BIM Software Revit
L. G.
Great vantage point for photos of key sights in London.
H. B.
very nice view to watch the new year countdown for free 😁
p. c.
Lovely bridge great views either way.. apparently my father got his head temporarily stuck in one of the bridge decorations as a small kid lol
A. I.
Good place to take pictures
J. F.
One of the old style constructed bridges of London. Dont miss it at night time if searching for hidden wonders of the city
T. M. #.
In my opinion, the best view of the Westminster Palace and Big Ben
S. S.
Built by the Black Prince the Lambeth Castle is spectacular..
W. J.
Really nice bridge. Want to get across the Thames but don’t want to go over Westminster or Vauxhall bridges? This one is for you.
D. P.
I crossed Lambeth bridge whilst undertaking the Thames Bridges trex Challenge one warm day in early September. It was opened in 1932, its red colour is said to represent the seats in the House if Lords. MEMBERS of the Lords would walk along this bridge, whilst members of parliament would use Westminster bridge. Lovely bridge in the shadow of the houses of parliment.
C. B.
It provides an amazing view of the London Eye; a great spot for enjoying the new year's fireworks. But one needs to get there early to secure a good spot
M. W.
Lambeth Bridge is excellent, an interesting history and great views of Houses of Parliament and Battersea opposite direction. With the added bonus of Lambeth Palace and the Garden museum on the south bank.
J. S.
Used to be the site of the Archbishop of Canterbury's horse ferry. That carried people from Westminster Palace to Lambeth Palace and is situated at the beginning of Horseferry Road, Westminster.
First erected as a tolled suspension bridge for pedestrian use in 1862. It was too steep for horses and proved dangerous.
The present bridge built just after the reopening of Westminster Bridge, after the flood of 1928, opened in 1932.
The red of Lambeth Bridge is to match the leather benches of The House of Lords. Whereas, the green of Westminster Bridge is to match the leather benches of The House of Commons.
The obelisks at either end of the Bridge have pineapples atop of them as a tribute to John Tredescant the Younger who grew the 1st ever pineapple in Britain and is buried in the churchyard of St Mary's at Lambeth (Garden Museum). Next-door to Lambeth Palace literally on the other side of Lambeth Bridge from Westminster.
The antique cast-iron lampposts have elaborate dolphins entwining them.
It is grade 2 listed and has the best river horizon Central London has to offer. And is by far the better bridge of the two as is way less busy pedestrian/tourist wise. Also open to vehicle use.
Nice to walk over it and stroll along the Albert Embankment behind St Thomas's Hospital and onto South Bank.
Best place to situate yourself for the annual New Year's fireworks display too.
P. B.
Not sure how to rate a bridge. This one has the entirely commendible characteristic of reaching both sides of the river, with an equally useful bit in the middle. And boats go under.
R. L.
Nice spot to go for a walk for people that work in the area over lunch time. Walk the bridges as something to do that's quick and manageable. Also useful for walking lunch time meetings!
H.
Big Ben under renovation.
R. P.
It's a bridge over troubled waters, to MI5.
It's a pretty view in the afternoon. you can walk along the river here up towards the giant London Eye
M. W.
First time I've walked over it, probably the last aswell as couldn't wait to get off, the longest walk ever!! I'd call it a marmite moment, you'll either love it or hate it!!
F. R.
Allways a pleasure to walk to even if just to appreciate its arquitetonic beauty.
M. B.
A great place to start a boat trip
N. R. (.
It's a bridge. Nice views, though Waterloo Bridge has better. I walked on it and didn't fall into the Thames.
a. B.
The views are amazing to towards London Eye and Westminster
J. C.
Great view of London Eye and Parliament. Unfortunately Big Ben was surrounded in scaffolding during my visit.
C. K.
We stand on this bridge to celebrate new years eve. There's nothing special here actually, but you still got a nice view to the city of London.
H. P.
First time seeing the bridge even though I've been to the UK before it's a sight to see
J. A.
Love the city of London. So much history and the food is expensive. Also the Thames is dirty.
J. B.
A great way to cross River Thames.

S. L.

T. K.
Nice place for a walk. Surrounded by beautiful European architecture. Mesmerising view on either side.
C. W.
To be honest, if it's a bridge you're after, can I suggest heading North and using Westminster bridge. They don't call it Bestminster bridge for nothing...
T. S.
Here was beautiful bit to sit which was dark and another which was in the light
Which she benches faced the river in anyway but was beautiful nethertheless
A. M.

e.
Essential to get from one side of the river to other side. Good views of Lambeth pallace and houses of parliament

Great architecture and history in the buildings lovely day out, striking through the streets and bridges
S. B.
It did its job, I was on one side of a body of water when I began using the bridge, by the end of my time using the bridge I was on the other side of the same body of water
B. J.
Very good part of the country you can just about see everything from here jump on the London Eye and you can see the lot
