Reviews of Toby Carvery Cockleshell
S. P.
It was a carvery and the vegetables were tasty but the serving dishes were almost empty. The turkey was beautiful but the beef very fatty and tough. The staff were very attentive and polite, a nice young man was very helpful. Enjoyed my meal but couldn't eat the beef and didn't even take it home to my cat.
I. S.
Brilliant experience. Took a group of 15 students with additional needs, the staff were excellent very accommodating. The food was great. An excellent experience from the booking stage to leaving contented and full. Thank you Toby Carvery Cockleshell, Gorseinon!
A. C.
I am a regular customer of yours and I know the staff through visiting so often. On a few occasions the food has been over cooked and dry. Please keep an eye on how the food looks on your quiet days. Please always do the beef dripping potatoes they are divine.
Z. W.
The outside looks tired with the fence broken down, but inside was clean and tidy. Waited for a little while to be seated and for the waiter to come over. But the staff were really lovely. The food was not very hot at all, by the time you got back to your table it was warm.
A. E.
We received a nice welcome, all the staff were wonderful - well presented, polite, helpful and patient. The carvery lunch was perfect and we were delighted with the experience. We were disappointed that there was no cranberry sauce but a minor hitch.
H. J.
Nice meal, good service, the staff were very friendly. Not over busy just nice and comfortable there between 5.30&6pm. The meat in the carvery very tender and the sweets very nice and good portion size. I will use again.
W. M.
Staff are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. Ordered our drinks first, which came quickly. Qued for the carvery. I had gammon and beef and all trimmings the roasties in beef dripping are to die for, topped their tasty gravy. No room for dessert as I was too full. Fair play outstanding carvery. I am also a regular at the Toby. Try it if you haven't been, you won't be disappointed.

We visited the cockleshell recently and we were more than pleased with our evening out. The food was delicious with plenty of choice and lots of it !! The staff were very polite and helpful . We were served by Jess and she is a credit to your business .

We called here as my partner went for His jabs across the road. We haven't been for ages. They found us a seat. It seemed a bit cold in there. My son and partner went up while I stayed at the table. They were gone ages. Nearly an hour to get their food. I went up and by the time I qued nearly an hour too. And got what I wanted. Some of the food had run out but I had what I would eat. I got back to the table and boys had finished theirs. Food was lovely but a little cold as I had to wait for more gravy to be brought out . beef was really tough but I think it was because it was coming to the end if the joint. Men said theirs was lovely. I think they were trying to fit too many people in I would go back but make sure I went as a family as we could eat together.

Charged for a child's carvery when she didn't have one she had a Yorkshire pudding. Asked for the bill and the server came over with the card machine and before I had seen it my partner had paid but the bill was £41. Asked to actually see the bill and when questioned about the child's meal she said she will check and come back..we waited for a while she kept walking back to the section seen we were still there and left again. So what could be improved is actually producing the bill when asked and actually attention to our query? It wasn't resolved so paid for a child's meal that we never had.

Sunday afternoon, place was packed but they still managed to find us a table, with a smile!!!!
Food was on point. Loads of meat. Veg cooked well.
If i had any gripe it would be the gravy was thin and salt in pots was damp. But hey who cares. Food was lovely.
L.
Great greeting when entering we were shown to our reserved table promptly, Service was very efficient and friendly overall the food was well stocked and hot Only issue for me was from the carvery section with very poor qty of meat being put on plate, This has declined since our last visit, This should form the main event with a very much improved yorkshire pudding, For what your pay i would have expected full carved slices, Apart from that we had a good experience and Person greeting run the show well keeping staff on their toes , Would i return with my family of 5 ...possibly if the carvery was a little more generous .
S. M.
We are regulars at this Toby but we were so disappointed at this visit. The carvery was a disgrace. There were minute joints of beef and gammon on display. It was as though they had to make it last until the next day when a new joint would be available. The carvery itself looked as though a bomb had hit it. Disgraceful. The Yorkshire puddings were on bits and we had to ask for some whole ones. We had to ask for more toasties and gravy as they were not replenished. All the veg that was available was very dry, the heat lamps were too hot. I invited some relatives who had come to stay out for dinner. But I was so embarrassed. Toby really let itself and me down.
H. N.
Food was hot and fresh and lovely.
Hadnt made a booking but was seated straight away as had a disabled adult in our party and was, accomadated straight away.
Young waiter was extremely helpful and, fetched a smaller glass of water when my mother felt the larger one was too heavy for her.. Will be back again soon
B. L. J.
Excellent carvery. Restaurant was lovely and clean. Food was fresh and tasty. Staff were amazing. The staff were really good with the kids. We will definitely return.
T. J.
Really friendly place, the staff were able to accommodate our group of eleven without a booking (which I realise was a mean thing to throw at them!) after only a short wait. The atmosphere was great and the food did the trick!
C. M.
The Staff were really friendly but unfortunately the food was not the best, Yorkshire pudding were hard, no mash potatoes, very limited veg selection, gravy was water no thickness to it at all. I was a little disappointed with the orange and chocolate sundae too.
S. B.
Christmas Dinner. The young lady who served us was brilliant. Unfortunately, the staff supporting her who were delivering the food were totally hopeless! We had to wait over an hour and 20 minutes for our starter, even though it was pre ordered.
S. B.
Beef was very fatty and food was not hot. No gravy, only vegan available. Could not wait for staff to complain otherwise my food would have been even colder. Food was also dry.
D. D.
No mash as usual due to the potato peeler being broken. Seems to be a common occurrence at Toby…my daughter only likes mash. Surely someone could walk 50 steps to Asda to get a new peeler
S. R.
Carvery food gd. Children's menu no chicken options available and the Mac and cheese ,cheese overpowered the dish my granddaughter didn't eat it. Again with dessert several options not available. LADIES TOILETS !!!!! I took my granddaughter into ladies there was toilet paper all over the floor in most cubicles but the WORST thing please get the cleaners to dust the lamp shades above the sinks they were absolutely covered in dust and filthy.
G. K.
Food is always good and plenty of it. Sadly the service this time was poor. Ordered children's meal and I waited at the table with my four year old, wife and two other children qued for the carvery for a good fifteen minutes. When they got back chased up about the childrens meal and was told it would be waiting at the counter so had to que then with my four year old whilst rest of the family ate. Would have been nice for our waitress to inform us of the process! Sadly this meant our family could not actually eat together!
Surprised how many things were sold out on a Friday night as well.
S. H.
Great food, we had the cavery. The selection was plentiful and the food nice and hot. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning.
C. I.
Attended for breakfast. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We found the resturant to be dark and dated. Food was lovely with good choice. Yorkies were a bit crumbly but not complaining.
J. &. J. R.
Food as alway was amazing. We initially was served by one waitress then another turned up and took over. Whilst I was having my meal. I asked if I could add a Takeaway meal to my order. The young woman's badge stated her name was Harry. Harry asked if there were any allergies for the Takeaway etc. About 30 minutes later, I stood to pay for our meals and collect my Takeaway. I was then told by Harry that I would have to que once again for my Takeaway??? There approximately 15 to 20 people waiting to be served. I was really angry that after already waiting in the horrendous que, I was made to wait for a 2nd time. Why did the waitress ask me just like the 1st lady who served me if there were any allergies if she was not going to fulfill my Takeaway order? I had to wait and stand a further 20 minutes plus. Totally unexplained as well as unexceptable.
A. C.
At first the serving area was a little busy but it soon calmed down and the selection of meat was good and the vegetables were more than adequate we were stuffed after 👍
D. B.
The food as always was absolutely delicious , it was extremely busy as I would expect but the majority of staff seemed to take it in their stride and everyone was dealt with in a calm and friendly efficient manner.
S. W.
The waitress was helpful without being intrusive, the food was great as per normal. There was a long queue to obtain our food, but that was expected with the offer being on
E. R.
First impression on visit reception very good, pleasant and helpful, shown to table, and introduced to waiter, who brought drink, took our order, also very pleasant I think her name was Trish, she was very attentive and helpful.
A. W.
The breakfast was lovely as usual and a nice treat 😊
It was a little bit cold inside, but there weren't that many people there, so there was not a lot of additional body heat.
R. C.
At the Toby carvery was disappointed because no mash potatoes other than that we enjoyed the food the staff was amazing and friendly 😀 had been there twice in one week and enjoyed it there like to thank everyone a happy new year see you in 2o23
B. D.
went here the other day. food and service were great. 10/10 would reccomend
server:jess
raffle ticket number:205
T. R.
Fantastic service, and very accommodating to a special request for seating. Food was brilliant, especially for the price. The meat was a little bit fatty, but again, for the price, you can't complain.
M. V.
Good food, but if you order from menu and don't have carvery, it takes a lot longer, but still tasty 😋
S. G.
Simon, our carver, was beyond excellent. He came from behind the counter and brought my delicious roast beef dinner over to my table after adding condiments. I am disabled and wheelchair bound.
B. H.
The Greet & meet not booked but very helpful, manager showed us to our seats explaining ‘Luke’ will be looking after but he is just serving someone at the moment but he will be with you. AIts nice to be kept informed and a few minutes later Luke, with a smile greeted us welcoming us pleasant nice service manner. Obviously a changeover time in staff because we then had Natasha looking after the area we were in. Natasha was also extremely pleasant with outstanding customer service experience. We have eaten in many Toby’s across the South Of England and Wales but this Carvery is undoubtedly the Very Best for excellence in great Toby Food all cooked to perfection, the display was neat, clean & tidy. The customer service was OUTSTANDING. Thank you, we will definitely recommend this Carvery, especially as we are managing a campsite within 15 minutes drive from here.
J. C.
Always love the food here. Back to helping yourself which is always the best way in places like this. We went for breakfast and everything was delicious. Sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, potatoes. My daughter had a Yorkshire pudding with hers! I'm not sure that should be on a breakfast plate but she enjoyed 🤷🏼♂️
Highly recommend this place to anyone, especially as the price was low compared to breakfasts elsewhere 👍
A. C.
My husband and I took our 5 year old granddaughter here as she loves a carvery.
The food was very well cooked and the choice of meats and vegetables were second to none
The only disappointing thing was the roast beef. It was so gristly and tough that it was inedible (although our dog enjoyed it with a bit of chewing).
Maybe we should have called someone over to report it !?
However, we will definitely go there again as Toby Carvery is the best carvery we have had.
The staff were very nice and clearly worked very hard.
C. E. A.
Lovely carvery, everything was fresh, hot and tasty, more care needed with condiments but on the whole I would definately recommend. King size roast is huge. I'll be getting a standard size plate next time! Excellent value for money.
D. O.
Very nice carvery today ive never had a bad meal there and the staff are so very friendly
S. W.
Great staff, food really nice, carvery good value for money x
J. M.
We always go to Toby Cockleshell rather than our local Toby, as we find it better somehow. The staff are great and always willing to help.
The ladies loo's weren't up to their usual high standard on this visit.
A. C.
Have had several dinners here, but the last one was awful . Tasteless gravy, big lumps of hard cauliflower, tiny mushed roasties and lumpy mash! Extremely disappointed this time, has put me off ordering again!!
J. O.
Food was great. However, staff were run off their feet. Only saw 3 staff which consisted of 1 manager and 2 waitresses. They really need more help.
C. J.
Was quite busy there, staff appeared overwhelmed. While queuing for food, they ran out of many things so had to go back for Yorkshire pudding. They also ran out of leek dish and despite people waiting for another to come out, they were eventually told that no more of the leeks had been put onto cook. Despite the queues and some veg missing, the food was tasty and staff were polite.
g. b.
1st visit to a Toby pub, we'll definitely go again first class Sunday lunch, be aware you'll need to have a healthy appetite, the food is served hot and you get a hot plate to put your grub on. Very impressive I must say, well worth a visit
M. K.
Staffs were nice and friendly. All foods and drinks were very nice and good value too. We will come back again.😘
S. B.
Went for Christmas day. Lovely food. But not great service
M. T.
On this particular visit the food was very good I must say the female chef was the best I've seen she actually gave us an adequate amount of meat normally it's so thinly cut you can see through it but must say the dinner on this occasion was the best I've had for a long time very tasty and plenty of meat thank you.
T. A.
Another excellent carvery. Don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. As usual eyes bigger than bellys for some but the takeaway boxes deal with that.
A. G.
Sunday dinner was lovely and good value for money, and the service was excellent.
H. A.
Good meal but modest meat portion and ice cream machine was unserviceable.
T. M.
We have carvery every now and again here and the food is always good. The waitresses are attentive. The only bugbear is lack of opening windows and broken Aircon
R. B.
Too warm in restaurant needs aircon. But food was awesome. Service was brilliant, very friendly and was not rushed to leave table.
j. j.
The food was well presented, and easy to serve yourself,as a first time visitor every thing was quite self explanitory,my only gripe is that there was no black pudding, but apart from that, nice staff, nice surroundings and well air conditioned, will deffinately go back, good value for money.
C. D.
The carvery was delicious plenty to choose from ample portions. Just couldn't fault the carvery. Had apple pie for desert, the pastry was a little tough but that is being a little picky.
K. H.
All you can eat breakfast. It's abit hit and miss with the food items on the breakfast really. First time we went up I found the bacon to be hard and dry like it had been there a while. There always seemed to be a wait for the fried eggs but they were cooked perfectly. The best part of the breakfast was the sausages. They really were delicious! The hash browns were nice and I enjoyed the potato in egg. The second time we went up, the bacon was fresh and a lot tastier. The breakfast is tidy enough for the price and they have an offer on at the weekends where kids eat free.
A. H.
Pretty good roast dinner. Fairly quick service. Not much else to say really.
S. J. J. E.
Food Was 👍 👌 Service Was Slow, I Had To Keep finding The Staff. I Used Disabled Toilet, It Was Dirty & Needed Cleaning. Staff Were Friendly. Best Food Ever !!!!
A. C.
My son's birthday so we went to his favourite place to eat. Lovely food and service once again, thank you
R. G.
The food was cooked really well and plenty of choice. Great service and friendly staff
S. P.
The food was hot, very tasty.
The queue was long and we waited ages.
But it more than made up for it with the carvery
R. T.
Food pretty good for a carvery, service friendly. Decor dated and worn. Would use again
M. H.
Very warm welcome even though we hadn’t booked , we were shown a table , staff good , food excellent , food server was good , food was piping hot and a great selection and an extra was bubble and squeak , all very good , first class
e.
Good quality food. Poor waitress service. It wasn't busy here tonight. Waitress too complacent in her attitude and left customers waiting for far too long - couple arrived led to a table next to me by a bar staff member waited.. and waited.. and waited for attention from the waitress around 15 to 20 mins !! She eventually approached them and overheard her saying: "Sorry I didn't know you were here!" !! It's not a massive restaurant - she should have noticed !! She eventually approached me and asked what I would like to drink, said a pint of Stella and she brought me a pint of cider instead. Didn't feel bothered to tell her that and drank it anyway. This girl (thin, dark hair with very prominent thick glasses) needs more training for the job I would suggest!
D. D.
Highly recommend we went for the first day opening celebration it has been designed to a very high level and the carvery better than Toby's Swansea due to having all the trimmings and staff very attentive.
L. R.
Fabulous as always, only one tiny thing the beef was bit tough but everything else beautiful and a lovely polite girl served us
s. h.
lovely carvery been a few times enjoyed the food every time
H.
Dropped in for a carvery meal last Saturday lunchtime. The food was absolutely delicious, hot and fresh. Staff...from the chef behind the carvery, the young lady who looked after our table, in fact all we came into contact with were a delight, friendly, and welcoming. Definitely be back, and can't wait to do so. Many thanks all.......
M. D.
Meals have improved since the last visit Really tasty Hope it stays like this we enjoyed
A. R.
My father and I always love a carvery from here! Can always tell a good place when it's always busy ☺️
P. “. E.
Fantastic carvery, and fantastic staff, can't fault this establishment
S. M.
Lovely place, bit more lighting needed inside as it was quite dark where i was seated. Food was lovely, plenty of choice of meats and veggies. Friendly staff and welcoming. Waited in queue gor food about 10 mins. Will definitely visit again.
M. C.
Love coming here for a roast. Looked after by luke as was very pleasant to me me and my family. Well done luke and Toby 😁😁👍👍👍👍👍🙂
A. P.
Great as you would expect from Toby carvery. Good value if you go mid week. Only let down was no pigs in blankets.
C. H.
We came for my son's birthday. The food was quite nice. The down side was the table although clean was very sticky. The evening was spoilt because it was so warm. This made us cut our visit short and not have a dessert.
H. W.
Outstanding carvery and the price is unbeatable honestly come on down for a family dinner that will bring back memories
T. F. R.
Had Lunch here yesterday, Really surprised how fresh & good the food is, the staff are very helpful, would Recommend going early.
A. E.
Love it here. Super food. Always 1st class roast dinner.
r. S.
Lovely layout great selection of food and access for wheelchairs and disabled
Parking
Staff very polite and helpful
N. B.
The usual selection of roasts and pick your own sides that you find in every Toby Carvery. I am more of a breakfast fan that they serve earlier, but you can't beat a good Roast
S. h.
I enjoyed the dinner that I had much better quality meat cooked to perfection,,.
L. H.
The staff were great from start to finish, the food was perfect and the chef on the carvery was really pleasant and kind. Just keep doing what you're doing and you can't go wrong!
N. A.
Restaurant was too hot. No Aircon or windows to open. Food was good and staff attentive. Good place!
R. J.
Didn't book but they found us a place for two. The carvery was good and the dessert was very enjoyable and personalised from the chef.
L. P.
Very busy time, but staff were amazing, Bethan and Codi both dealt with the awkward customers with ease and both were lovely and attentive during our visit
J. E.
Very busy place. Queued for 30 mins to get our food. Was a bit put off by all the flys around the food area.
S. D.
Good experience, friendly staff able to seat us in a quiet area to allow for children with additional needs. The food was good it would have been 5 stars had the chef taken more interest other than saying "don't know wasn't here when it was made" after being asked about dairy products due to allergies. Other than this all good and the take the blue light card which is a plus on the money side
J. T.
Welcome was fantastic food was beautiful I wouild highly recommend staff were very friendly and very professional many thanks
R. M.
Have had many a breakfast here at Toby cockleshell, fantastic fantastic fantastic, it's that simple, beautiful food great friendly staff, would Highley recommend
A. J.
We took a chance and visited the Cockleshell on the off chance they could fit us in for food.
The welcome was really good, after a short wait to check availability due to not allowing walk-ins due to how busy they were with bookings, we were offered a table, amazing.
First of all, order drinks at the bar, this is where we met the amazing Ethan. Ethan was attentive and professional but still very very friendly, we also paid for our carvery at the bar.
The time came to join the queue for our food, it’s incredible how busy they were, the queue soon disappeared.
Our turn came, one of the chefs was so funny, even had angel wings to raise people’s spirits, didn’t get his name, sorry.
The food was lovely and very soon there were 2 empty plates and 2 very satisfied customers.
Before we left, Ethan appeared to clear our table, again, he was very friendly and attentive, if only all places had an Ethan.
Thanks guys for a lovely experience this evening.
G.
Booked ahead and the booking system is automated which worked really well. As usual it's a good deal here with 4 choices of meat and plenty of vegetables but disappointedly the roast potatoes weren't great. Bit rubbery. The hot lamps are hot, which is great, but probably not for the potatoes. However everything else was fine. Our waitress was lovely and attentive too.
J. J. (.
Great food, great prices , friendly team
R. D.
Visited the carvery today with my wife. The food was amazing as usual, but the main reason for this review was our waiter, Ethan. He was very attentive, polite, and was happy to engage in conversation instead of making us feel like we needed to hurry up and finish our meal. A very pleasant young man, and a credit to your staff. Thank you Ethan!
A. S.
Staff very friendly, food was lovely and fresh and used blue light card which was a bonus
W. W.
We had a Carvery this evening, the restaurant was clean and tidy . I can honestly say that TWO members of staff stood out , they were called RHIAN and JORDAN . Such welcoming chefs, full of joy and empathy..
I would definitely return for the Food and these two members of staff .. Thank you for a memorable evening. Easy 5 Star 🌟 rating ....
C. B.
Always have a nice carvery there staff are lovely always so helpful
S. A.
Haven't been for a long time food has improved would reccomend
S. P.
Fantastic food, chef was really chatty and friendly will definitely go back
A. L.
Tash our lovely waitress was awesome, pleasant, polite, very friendly and very efficient, also very welcoming.
R. L.
Good food but sometimes breakfast menu can lack the advertised items like breakfast gravy and hash browns. Be cautious with breakfast yorkies as they can be dry and burnt. They often taste like cardboard!!!
Carvery was nice. Some veg dry as under heating lamps too long.
Meat portions not great size.
d. f.
Toby carvery, as you'd expect, decent food in good surroundings, always a pleasure to eat at a Toby 😁
T. J.
Excellent selection of meat and vegetables on offer. Hot food and drinks arrived quickly.
K. W.
The food was very tasty, a bit of a queue for the carvery, but it was a Sunday. Staff very polite and welcoming. The only complaint I would have is, it was too warm in the restaurant, poor staff especially serving the carvery. Please get air-conditioning installed.
m. h.
Easy to get to , good staff , food piping hot , seating area was good , there was 5 of us , we were looked after very well
K. C.
The food was fresh the service quick and polite
I treat my granddaughter every Wednesday
R. S. (. M. S.
Roasties were lovely, please get the self serve drinks machine working again 😆
L. W.
We had 2 carverys and 2 wraps one ultimate beef 😋 oh my god they were stunning..
The other wrap was ham hock.
They are huge and its only £4.99
I can't believe how cheap and how nice the yorkie wraps are.
You get a whole huge meal for such a great price.
S. J.
Showed to a table straight away, drinks order taken and told to gk to carvery when we were ready.
Lovely joints of meat and plenty of variety of veg.
K. L.
Great value good location polite staf very good food.
s. t.
Better in the week , dinning area needs updating looks a bit shabby , dinner was OK but it's a bit of a conveyor belt
E. B.
Lovely food and still very reasonable price during this time of inflated prices.
A. R.
The food was average.
The chief who served us was friendly & welcoming. The rest of the service was very poor. While having the meal not one member of staff came to our table to see if were OK.
Had to chase the waitress to take a drinks order. Never asked us if we would like a desert. But when it came to paying the waitress was there like a shot. The restaurant was very quiet so there was no excuse for poor service.
M.
Excellent food, with great service from the Toby staff!
D. J.
Had lovely Sunday carvery. Choice of 4 meats (can have them all) giant Yorkshire pudding, a big range of fresh veg (peas, carrot, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, stuffing, swede).
Sat by the door with a wheelchair user, and the door was open so a bit cold but the customers were queuing to get in, it's so lovely and the pub was full. Good dessert options too but I was too full for one. Lovely staff, clean toilets, sheltered smoking area, big free car park.
C. O.
Was a really cold evening, but was warm & cosy inside. Attended to by a lovely waitress, Natasha. Food was excellent & veg was all freshly put out. Nice to be back to serving yourself with the veg. Plenty of parking, despite being busy. Carvery never disappoints. Fair price for great food.
S. H.
Jessica was our server today, she wad amazing, so helpful. Simon was on the carvery and again so helpful. Both of them a credit to the restaurant. Food was incredible, we had the festive carvery, everything was perfect. Must have been good as I ate my sprouts.
B. J.
Even though its cheap and cheerful ... Its always a nice evening and good food if you avoid the shoe leather (beef) 😉 Ham, Pork and Turkey is always stunning and the Potatoes are to die for with good amount of meat scraps if you request them.
Service was also good and they are very accommodating, especially when they were not doing takeaways that evening but opened it up for me to have one 😀
I. F.
Good value and choice. We went for 9am open, so everything was fresh. Might be a different story if you turn up near the end of service. Food quality was good. Would recommend.
S.
Lovely staff and hosting, food is good but don't expect the highest quality. It is a chain buffet, but a nicer chain buffet. Well priced, and one of the few remaining places to serve apple tango on tap. Worth it for that alone.
Yorkies always ginormous and if they deem yours not to be gargantuan enough they'll chuck on another half just to make sure.
A good place for student budget celebrations, just be aware of what deals are on as you could end up with a horde of after school kids sticking their mucky hands in everything (not a diss, kids are kids, just would prefer quieter and cleaner so advise coming when kids deals are not on)

Great food but they need to clean the air conditioner it was really dirty .visited today 28th August 2022 was given a table which was clean but my seat had squashed potato all over it so obviously cleanliness isn't priority at this establishment only profit.

We’ve tried a few Toby Carvery’s in the past but have never really enjoyed, undercooked veg etc. We were in Gorseinon today and thought we’d give this Toby a go, we hadn’t booked a table but decided to try anyway!!
The lady at front of house was lovely, very polite and friendly, she asked if we had booked, which we hadn’t but she fitted us in anyway!!
We have to say this was the best Toby by far, the place was clean and fresh looking, the staff were amazing, all friendly and professional and the guy who served our drinks and took payment was so nice, he said he has been working there around 2 years, we didn’t get his name but what a lovely young man, a credit to your restaurant.
The food here was absolutely delicious, plenty of perfectly cooked veg and a variety of meats, we will definitely return!!
Thank you…..
G. B.
Hot and quality food despite how busy it was. Staff very welcoming.
S. N.
Food was incredible as always but the restaurant was too hot which makes it uncomfortable to eat.
G. L.
As usual, the food was delicious and great value for the money. Apart from front of house, the staff were amazing. Front of house was abrupt, she was not welcoming, and was not wearing a mask. Whilst I understand she is probably exempt, front of house is not an ideal place for her.
J. O.
I've been here several times now over multiple years due to family, and the best I can say is that you will be fed and the staff try very hard. Definitely better to go when busy so the food turnover is high, and the beef and potato gratin are usually reliable.
J. J.
I visited here with my two nieces on 2nd August (2021) and had the vegetarian Toad-in-the-hole and enjoyed it very much, but was disappointed that I couldn’t finish it - because the Yorkshire Pudding was massive and completely filled the plate so much that all the vegetables could be fitted inside and had no loss of gravy anywhere!
Although we had to wait a long time in the queue, as the only person serving was the chef, it was worth the wait but, after mentioning about the size of the Yorkshire pudding to someone, we were told that only one man had ever managed to finish it completely! Isn’t that a waste, because I’m sure that most customers would be happy with a pudding of half the size, so that they could manage to finish their meal and even find room for dessert!! Please consider this for the future. Otherwise, the rest of the meal was excellent. 😀

Helpful and friendly staff quick service food lovely as always
A. R.
Booked online to arrive 25mins later (the drive) table ready to go. My waitress chloe could see i had just finished so came straight ova offered drinks and told me i to enjoy my carvery. I then hit the counter where my asd son accidentally said something super rude followed with a plz. The man in the counter took the whole interaction in his stride and even excepted the apology when i explained y he had been rude. Ur staff always do u proud. Thank u a returning guest.
J. T.
Great if you enjoy queuing; 53 mins for the carvery. Food was great but place seems understaffed.
L. E.
Lovely service. Food was hot. Plenty of choice
H. W.
Staff very nice and great customer service. However arvery area was abit messy with spilt food and selection didn't seem as fresh as other restaurants I have visited.
G.
Midweek breakfast. Ample parking spaces.
We were acknowledged quickly & shown to a table. Waiter was very friendly.
Quality of food was fine. However, luck of the draw, there were a couple of bits of sausages, bacon & potatoes left looking passed their best. I was relieved to see a fresh batch but instead of discarding the remaing ones, she put them on my plate hence my score of 4/5 as all else was fine.
C. R.
Food and service was outstanding and made to feel very welcome and safe. Nice chef on the carvery didn't show any sign of frustration at doing 3 plates at the same time and could see my daughter was getting anxious so he carried 2 of the plates over to the table for me, food was delicious, meat fell apart and love the beef dripping roasties 🤤. One quibble would be the 2 people at the table next to us having a very in depth conversation about certain things that shouldn't be in ear shot of youngsters (or even adults for some of it) which of course was in no way the fault of the staff who apologised when I mentioned maybe sound proof booths would be an idea moving forward as I'm sure people think they are invisible with a thin piece of wood/plastic screen between tables and told me I should have spoken to her earlier as she would have told them the conversation was inappropriate could they tone it down please.
L. W.
Long wait for drink order to be taken. Misinformation about the vegetarian menu and rather abrupt response from the chef at the carvery when I asked about the veggie options which was what I was told to do by the waitress.
No cutlery delivered to table.
However, food was really nice, and my fellow diners reported meat was gorgeous. Never got the veggie option so unable to review.
Would try again, i think due to food being very nice.
c. m.
Seemed more choice of meat and vegetables this time which we enjoyed , the only down side of the evening was that I had to ask the waitress a few times for a glass as I ordered the refillable soft drink , by which time I was 1/2 way through my meal
L. J.
Always lovely food.
There was a few flies around though landed on my food a few times
l. w.
As a regular it was as usual really good ,friendly staff good food ,reasonably priced .The ice-cream machine has still not been fixed and has been out of order for a while. The environment is looking a little tired and could do with a little spruce .
T. E.
Very good service by the waiting staff but just about average food. We visited here for the first time this evening.
We were quite disappointed by the tiny portion of meat served at the carvery & my husband and I are not big eaters. The Roast potatoes were hard, the cauliflower cheese was hard & undercooked. The mashed potato had no seasoning whatsoever.
When we got to where the sauces were the gravy was spilt all over so we were unable to rest our plate down, the mint sauce was empty & also spilt all over.
On the plus side the Yorkshire pudding was very impressive and the ice cream Sunday dessert was delicious.
S. G.
Food was absolutely lovely just like every time we have been, all the staff are always so polite and so helpful
N. L.
Food was lovely meat a bit thin but the atmosphere and place was extremely to warm to eat food
T. C.
Lovely food nice staff will go again
S. J.
Lovely food great atmosphere and friendly staff
L. M.
Excellent carvery plenty of choice. Booking is advisable
E. T.
Called here today spot of lunch. Amazing food. Carving staff brilliant and also waiter Ethan. He couldn't do enough for us. We will be back - soon. Highly recommended and Covid safe.
S. G.
Its nice , good value and convenient
d. w.
Good food fair prices, clean, good atmosphere, friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
G. L.
Always stunning. I didn't feel unsafe eating or serving myself with the current situation. Server's were lovely. And everyone worked really well and fast and as a team. Was good to see
m. k.
Lovely lady showed us to our table we hadn’t booked but it wasn’t a problem. Very prompt service and all staff made us feel welcome. Carvery very good. Tables cleared and thoroughly cleaned. Thanks to all at cockleshell Toby.
K. R.
Spacious eating area, lovely staff. Carvery was nice, couldn't fault the taste, although not very warm. Would definitely go again.
d. r.
Warm and welcoming staff from the moment you walk in. Always clean and tidy looking. My daughter is not a veg eater but loves the foot long pig dog . Food is always amazing cant wait to go back again
R. W.
First time been for breakfast - very good
T. T.
Good value, tasty and friendly service.
R. T.
The service is excellent here. The carvery is delicious. It does get busy so you may have to queue but it's not very long and it's worth it!
E. M. G.
Very busy but once we had our table we had a nice food and staff were friendly 😋
a. b.
It was just the ticket for us today!!! Plus there was 50%discount off the most delicious Carvery Meal ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
D. D. R.
Food great as normal but this time waited 10min for bacon and had to ask for a plate no plates available for us to take got back to my table my son had finished hi breakfast so dissapointed
T. M.
First time in
Toby Carvery Swansea.
SUPERB VALUE.
Only £10.00 for a fantastic plate of food.
You can have one or four different meats, beef, turkey, ham, pork, all the vegetable choices, yorkshire puddings, dumplings gravy. You need a really empty tummy for this carvery and you can go up a notch if you're extra hungry by getting the bigger plate for a little extra.
Highly recommend for value, great food and very helpful STAFF.
Well done Toby Carvery!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
T. H.
Can't beat a cooked lunch. Staff very friendly and helpful. Chef/carver had great people skills..talking to every person he served.
Most important...beautiful meal
# update...went for a breakfast this morning.. what an absolute disaster and difference in service. Had to ask for clean plates as the ones laid out had all bits of food stuck to them. Food was running out and people waiting, holding up queue.. food going cold while you waited for the chef to top up missing items..coffee was like tarmac..I've never tasted it so strong..
Very disappointed today which may make me think twice about going back if this is the new service...😢
K. E.
Lovely takeaway, great tasting food.
A. H.
Lovely food and plenty of it! Beef gravy was delish, Yorkie puds were big and fluffy, lots of veg to choose from and everything was piping hot. Will certainly be back for more.
J. D.
Can be a little crowded, but still worth the visit.
l. f.
Food was nice but there was no pork or Turkey which left just beef and gammon which was a little disappointing.
Seated too close to the restroom too, so was a little smelly and people constantly walking past.
D. M.
It was just OK really. The gravy not up to other Tobys we have been to and there was something in one serving dish, that looked disgusting full of grease and couldn't even work out what it was!!! A bit disappointed
K. E.
Lush food, staff are nice too.
A. S.
Had a wonderful experience, Rhian the chef was absolutely incredible and we had to praise the vegetable bake. Our server Jessica was also incredibly attentive and welcoming.
J. B.
Had a lovely family carvery .Food and service was excellent. Felt very comfortable eating here , during the strange times we are living in.Queued at a save distance for carvery. 2 members of staff served you.Told them what you wanted. All staff were very friendly , approachable and helpful .
d. W.
Always good service at this Toby carvery. Still good value for money. The place can be very busy but friendly. We'll worth a visit.
M. J.
Food was lovely and the service was excellent.
S. J.
The food is OK, they have half a dozen vegan and vegetarian dishes so full marks for that. The waitress Caitlin who served us was amazing. Handled the 32 minute wait for roasts and the lack of allotment pie with ease and made us feel very comfortable.
All together a good experience and with discount vouchers a very reasonable meal.
Use the app and it is easy to pay and leave.

The cockleshell is a restaurant I visit a lot so my family decided to make arrangements for a surprise visit for my 70th birthday there.
Some of my family were from Yorkshire and it took a lot of communication.
Between them and the BRILLIANT, FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT help from the organiser and waitress named "Jo" everything was perfect.
Jo welcomed us in to a beautiful decorated table in a "set aside" part of the dining room, it looked lovely
Our meal was perfect with very fresh produce and a catering for vegetarians who were also included in the party. The Chef was very efficient and pleasant, the area was clean and organised, it was all very well managed!
Jo did an absolutely wonderful job looking after us all (15) and nothing was too much trouble, dishes were brought, taken away, drinks ordered along with desserts, birthday cake carried in, candles lit all by Jo without interruption 👏👏👏
Thank you so much Jo, my day was very special to me and my family and you put a little more icing on the cake by being so lovely, kind and friendly!
I'll certainly be recommending you and the Cockleshell
Jo is an asset to the business 👍❤️
F.
Food was great. Natasha the waitress was absolutely marvellous. So helpful.
J. P.
Cleanliness, covid safety and service was excellent and the food too. I really enjoyed my gammon at the carvery and my raspberry Arctic roll. I would recommend it and look forward to my next visit.
j. r.
Never ever a disappointment, fresh vegetables, always a new exciting choice, great meat choice and a veggie option, and lovely sauces as well as veggie gravy and parsley sauce,,,
M. L.
We had a lovely time at The Cockelshell Toby Cavery in Gorseinon today.
The Staff was Very Welcoming and Friendly and made Me, My Wife and 2 Year Old Son feel like a Home there.
Plenty of Parking. Wheelchair/Pram Friendly.
Diolch Yn Fawr 👍
H. W.
A meal during the pandemic. Everything had been thought about for safety of both diners and staff. (Although, I do think that when you are ordering, or talking long term to staff that the diners should be wearing masks for the member of staffs safety - just my opinion!)
The food was fantastic and served responsibly for both staff and diners. The atmosphere was great and all the staff were really friendly. Thanks Cockleshell 😊
M. D.
Great service not to busy great taste and good selection of vegetables and meat.
Hand cleaning stations around the important areas friendly staff and tables cleaned after each customer so great Covid policy in place 👍👌
C. D.
A Young man was our waiter .He was very happy and smiling with a pleasant manner. The food was lovely ,been years since we have had a carvery and it has improved immensely
M. J.
We love the Toby Carvery Cockleshell.. Great food, friendly professional staff.. Nothing is too much trouble (we needed 2 high chairs.... and I left my wallet on the table by mistake... Which was promptly returned by a member of staff... Phew!) and we're vegetarians so I can't comment on the meat options.
J. H.
Superb carvery. Very helpful staff.
V. K.
One of the best carveries around free parking wheelchair and parking available access ... 2-years on and I have no return to the for a nice Sunday. That I was disappointed when I was handed my plate from the chef I did felt like if it was dipped in sand gritty eyes the dishwasher did not work. And there wasn't much beef to choose from and I asked is there any more coming out. His reply was there's enough left on the to be carved. And it was cold. And when I picked up my knife and folk it was dirty. So after paying £45 for Sunday lunch. I won't be going back for two adults and two children. So now I wish I went to the grape and olive
R. G.
Food limited due to breakdown in the kitchen and the drinks dispenser was not working
D. C.
Great food and value and can never manage more than one plate 😋
H. R.
Great food. Good value. The friendliest staff. Always busy so a good sign.
We visited again this weekend Nov 2021 and things were a little different. The food was nice and the Chef behind the food bar was professional and friendly. The service let you down guys. My veggie option was brought to the table for me then having to take it back to add veg etc. In the queue it got cold very quickly and spoiled it.
No one came to us (at the furthest point of the restersunt) to ask if we were ok, offer more drinks or deserts. Just turned up to ask if we were all dine and ask if we wanted the bill. Seemed keen to get the payment wrapped up.
So food good. Service, not so
R.
Finally managed to visit again after Lockdown. I am easily pleased when it comes to a Roast but.... I was disappointed that at only 12.45pm the veg was dry, as if it had been there for a long time and the gravy way too runny. I will give credit where due tho, the beef was stunning and the roasties were delicious.
It hasn't put me off returning because hopefully it was simply an off day but once more and it'll be off my Favourites and that will be a shame 🌞
G. P.
Took 80 guys for a Christian Vision for Men Breakfast at Toby Carvery, the Cockleshell on Saturday. Food was great as was the service. Thanks for having us guys!
R. L.
Lovely food, lush staff.
T. M.
I find it's hit & miss with this Toby. Sometimes the food is cold,we even had to wait 20mins for gravy ,which put me off going there for a longtime.
This occasion , it was nice. Food was hot and tasted nice. Service was good too
B. M.
Great food and very friendly helpful staff.
L. E.
Very tasty carvery, loads of meat given which was beautiful and the Yorkshires were 👌
e. r.
Really tasty food, helpful staff. Nicest Toby carvery that we as a family have visited. Will definitely visit again.
J. J.
i have to say that everything went quite tidy and enjoyed my meal. Can't think of anything to improve really.
B. 2.
4 star because the lack of meat ,but other than that the food was lovely and friendly service though out our meal .my wife had the vegetarian option and it's massive as you can see in my picture.
A. D.
an update on my last review once again outstanding the cook named jordan went out of his way to make sure i had everything i could we had a real chat while serving on the meat counter not like a robot what a gentleman he makes my experience 100x better glad you were working brilliant lovely food
Well I got to be honest that was the best carvery I have ever had we had a table of 5 booked online the waitress was amazing the food was outstanding the gentleman cutting the meat was very professional and friendly the roasties the lamb mash veg all of it was really nice beautiful gravy we had three children with us who also loved the food witch is very rare in children lol the ice creams were lovely to but the staff are outstanding there very welcomed nice and clean place can't wait to go again 😀
W. F.
Friendly welcome, great price for the food and drink supplied. Nice environment suitable for business men like myself.
L. H.
Good range of food and nice food.
m. o.
Always nice food at a reasonable price
T. L.
Great work on the transition to being covid safe. One of the places that has had to adapt so much more than other hospitality due to thier previous help your self practises. Staff were wonderful, atmosphere Great and breakfast was still decent allowing you to get 2nds. Thanks!
s. L.
Absolutely fabulous carvery and well looked after by Ethan who couldn't do enough for us. Many thanks, looking forward to visiting again
A. M.
Visited several times both for breakfast and the carvery. Although the plates are sometimes warm the food isnt hot so goes cold quite quickly. It was very busy on our last visit so they had run out of hash browns and the people in front of us were taking 3 eggs each so the eggs were running out quite quickly. Waited in the queue for ten minutes for them to refresh the eggs. I gave up waiting and my food had gone cold. This has happened on many occasions so therefor wont be risking it again.
M. J.
Lovely lunch my granddaughter really enjoyed not much choice if you don't want carvery though friendly staff
B. T.
Excellent food on each visit. Was very busy on the day but we didn't wait too long for a table. I have the vegetarian dinner and it is excellent value for money. Will return again and again. Even when reserving a table I would advise to arrive early or you may wait but it just shows how good the food is...
G. J.
What a great place had a tidy up over covid looks fresh. Service great seen to our seat and then a server came over explains everything and even asks if you have dietary needs would go again
W. M.
Enjoyed the experience service and atmosphere, would not hesitate to return in the future.
S. B.
Very nice and relaxing. Generally we have gone for quick bites or sometimes just for a drink and dessert, pretty much anything and anytime without having to book even on New Year's Eve. It is popular for carvery and breakfast is also great. Don't think you can go wrong by going here and would definitely recommend. Only reduced to 5 stars since sometimes we can't have some desserts on menu.
N. J.
Excellent food, value for money and the staff were lovely.
N. E.
Good food and service but considering the restaurant was full of windows not 1 of them could open. It was a really warm day and was told the air conditioning was not working so was too warm in the restaurant to eat, rather than waste the meal i asked if I could take it home as it had been paid for and was told they didn't provide any trays or foil, instead I had to ask the waitress who was also struggling with the heat wot I could do and she came out of the kitchen with a piece of cling film. Can i suggest the air conditioning gets fixed before the weather turns even warmer as the heat in the restaurant can put you off the food.
S. W.
Plenty of food nicely cooked, veg a bit tasteless.
J. V.
Had a lovely meal. Turned up without a booking. Were seated quietly by lovely waitress. Will be returning quite soon.
L.
The quality of the food was great and we enjoyed all the food on our plate. However the king size (£1.50 extra) and super size (£3 extra) consist of the normal portions except an extra small slice and sausages that are not worth the price. Also the staff while friendly seem to be inexperienced and few. I feel I have always been satisfied in the past with cockleshell but as the years go by the standards decrease.
V. “. L.
Well organised staff from the time you arrive, get seated, get served and leave. The staff on the carvery counter do a great job, food was very tasty. Good value
M. L.
Can't go wrong. Very decent
A. O.
We had a beautiful dinner with a generous portion of turkey & pork . Everything was piping hot and very tasty. Although it was quite busy we didn't need to queue which is good when you're hungry ! The dessert was also lovely too - apple & blackberry crumble with soft icecream. I will have to fast tomorrow though.
M. R.
Food was the usual good standard. Had to wait a few minutes for a fresh turkey to be brought out. When it was, realised that most other people in the restaurant had been waiting as well. A large queue formed, but only 1 carvery was serving. Another member of the kitchen staff 'sorted the veg', but could have done with 2 carving.
W. H.
Nice place food was lovely staff very friendly will visit again not too expensive either
D. S. W.
The food was really nice and the waitress was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble for her. We will be going back there very soon.
C. L.
11 of us eating and not one complaint. Beautiful food and good service until we were asked to hurry up as they'd need the table for others.... We had previously booked our table and weren't told there was a limit on time, management should address this issue, but staff are lovely.
A. h.
Tend to be a regular eater but notice that meat portions are getting less and less each time I visit.
If they slice the meat any thinner they will need a laser .
Generally excellent food but they need to seriously look at their portion sizes .
Follow up visit August 2017
Portion size improved and a much better experience , although no swede available
Quality and taste excellent . Good value for money. Would now recommend based on overall experience
M. M.
Fantastic service this evening from the brilliant Charlotte
R. E.
Enough quality food to eat Good desert
N. B.
Food was amazing and table service was great.. even with the current restrictions, due to COVID, there was availability to book that day.
Friendly staff and very clean. Would definitely visit again.. love the Toby Carvery
J. M.
Nice,always fills me up.
B. T.
Despite visiting this popular carvery serving venue on a very busy lunchtime, it proved a highly satisfying experience. With all tables fully occupied in the dining area, opting to eat in the in the plush bar area was an unexpected delight. Swiftly served to pay for lunch and get drinks, the meat and veg- turkey and pork in our case-was enjoyable and value for money.
S. M.
Nice food, good service, clean establishment
K. M.
Great breakfast as expected, slight delay at the door waiting to be seated but the staff were polite and clear with all the COVID requirements.
S. D.
Food is good, but not excellent. I would hope there'd be plenty of crackling with a pork dinner; and they never serve lamb, which is a big thumbs down for us. Customer service on bar & management leaves a lot to be desired. Waitresses are nice. To not let me share my toast & sausage with my baby son (when I wasn't even going back for 2nds) and ask me to pay for him to eat separately is just ridiculous, it was my paid for meal to do with what I like!
T. R.
Food was exceptional this evening, everything cooked beautifully. Plenty of vegetable choice too.
m. w.
Fabulous service and a great experience.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
The food was delicious. Great place to visit.... 👍🙂🙂🙂
Will go again and again.
n. l.
Good prices, good servings, good atmosphere, good parking.. Was on table 38 this afternoon and our waiter was the best
J. T.
So in my house its like family tradition to go to a Toby carvery and celebrate something usually it's a birthday but other occasions it's just as a nice meal without paying stupid prices. So Came for my mum's birthday as the one in Kiley is now closed and I'm not quite sure why I didn't come sooner. Food is always good and the staff are so nice too. Definitely going back.
J. K.
Hit and miss here. Some days are very good and busy times are served very slowly. Be prepared to queue. Priced ok some times you can find the portions a bit slimmer than other times. Queue for food can get very squished and wait time for refilling is lacking at times. Could improve the waiting times, as even quiet days you can find yourself waiting around for the food or gravy. Although the food is normally good to the same standards. Sunday's can get very very busy.
C.
Great food for the price!
c. f.
Food is always lovely apart from the struggle my mum has with certain items being gluten and soya intolerant, putting glazes on the pork meant she couldnt eat it. Friendly helpful staff, the place could do with a deep clean though.
A. T.
The place is nice and tidy but the portion of the meat in carvery station was so very thin it's like a blade, I admire the cutter very consistent with the cut & portion. A bit disappointed!
L. C.
Lovely tasty food but the beef was a bit fatty. There ewasnt a fill selection of veg on the day we visited. Just the 2 options which was disappointing.
We had a young child with us and he doesn't eat dinners but wanted to share our mashed potato. We were told that he couldn't have a fork to have some of ours and he hasn't paid and he couldn't have a side plate to scoop some odd our plate. (With eating issues a saucer is even too much for him).
A bit disappointed with the lack of understanding from the staff. I do accept that it can't be done for everyone but given that it wasn't s separate meal jusy mash I thought an exception could have been made.
My parents diet enjoy the meal as they were worried about the little one. All other service was acceptable but long awaited.
A. G.
Food was good, but quite disappointed that there were no social distances in order. The que got carvery was free for all
J. R.
We had carvery which had a nice choice and a varied range of veggies and sauces as well was vegetarian gravy
G. M.
Excellent service, friendly staff and thoroughly enjoyed the food.
H. L.
Giving it 4 stars because some of the staff not very friendly. Have had people go before us when we booked before them and waited ages for someone to come up to us for deserts. But part from that. Lovely food nice place to eat. Can get very busy. There is some really good staff there and they still smile on busy times.
S. G.
Fantastic service from making the enquiry about booking for a group of 60 people through to departure. The staff where welcoming and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Food was delicious and plentiful. Excellent value. Would recommend without hesitation.
J. H.
Very nice service - Staff were very friendly. Sue made us feel very welcome and was very kind throughout our whole experience here today. Food was absolutely beautiful and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for great service. Thank you sue and thank you to the rest of the team!
N. R.
Lovely tasty meal ,staff very friendly attentive ,lovely and clean !! Definitely recommend 👌
T. P.
Great carvery Sunday lunch and excellent friendly service
R. C.
Lovely place, great food and top level service. Sue was brilliant couldn't be any better help to us. I have just got to mention water and cheesecake, highly recommended A+++++.
C. S.
Had a lovely carvery meal today - huge Yorkshire pudding, choice of 4 meats and numerous vegetables and sauces. All fresh and delicious. Would recommend this place but don't go if you are not hungry!
B. T.
Very friendly staff who were working their socks off.Did have to wait 20mins cueing inline at covid safe distance to be served at the carvery counter.Wait was possibly due to covid regs meaning tables were only allowed up a certain amount at a time.Food was lovely.Very relaxing enviroment.Well done all.
N. M.
Food was lovely, waiting staff were fab. The downside and the reason we won't be returning was the 35 min wait, standing in line as there was only one gentlemen carving the meat. We visited at 13.30 on a Friday lunchtime and the restaurant was busy so only one person serving the meat seems ridiculous. Lots of people in the very long queue were complaining and by the time we got to our food, very hungry!
A. H.
Very easy to find, located on a corner and easily visible. Food has always been fresh and plentiful, be it an all you can eat breakfast, or carvery dinner. I happily travel a half hour to come here. Price is very competitive and staff very friendly, and the restaurant is spotlessly clean. Top marks.
M. S.
Had to change our order three times as items on the menu not available. When it did finally arrive tho, it tasted great.
C. I.
I visited late afternoon and it was quite quiet, the carvery particularly the vegetables and potatoes looked like they had been there for a fair few hours but the Mrs enjoyed it so for that reason it gets 3 stars instead of 2.
I have been here before and it was better when it was busy.
J. R.
Great carvery. Food was delicious. Choice of pork, turkey, beef, gammon (no lamb). Then as much mash, broccoli, peas, carrots, roast potatoes, cabbage etc... as you like with gravy, bread sauce, apple sauce, mint sauce etc... The soft drinks are also refillable so you should be absolutely stuffed by the time you leave! Staff are all very friendly and service is swift, although, there was a bit of a queue for the carvery when we were there.
L. A. S.
Thank you so much Sue!! Your service was brilliant. Very polite and inviting. I felt instantly welcome. So much so I had 3 courses!! I'll definitely be back as I really enjoyed the food and the service. Thank you so much!! :)
W. G.
Literally the best breakfast and bottomless coffee around, excellent value for money, staff seem so happy here? One day we heard them singing in the kitchen at 830am when we arrived, smiles all round. Theres a manager looking guy who normally greets us as we walk in and is super friendly and helpful everytime.
G. W.
Had a fabulous time food was out of this world, and the staff couldn't do enough for you, probably polish my shoes if I asked, can't wait to go back😁👍
A. J. A.
Stunning lunch. Best around

When myself and partner attended we were informed there was a 20 minute wait for a table, this turned out to only be around 10/15 minutes though.
The table we were allocated was far too small for a couple to eat on so we were then moved to another table with no drama.
After having our order confirmed we joined the very large queue that took another 10/15 minutes to get to the carvery.
Once being served they had run out of saussages for the large plate although these were later brough to our table. The rest of the Carvery was very fresh and plentyfull with no complaints at all.
We had a further delay on finishing our meal as waiting to pay was taking a long time so once prompted this was quickly resolved.
Overall a fanstastic Sunday lunch that was worth the wait, however if they could cut down on the waiting time at the carvery it would mark higher.

Good value food, dodgy drinks charging practices. Visited midweek evening on our way back from a day out around the Gower. Whilst inside was busy we were promptly seated to a suitable area. Our drinks order was taken and brought to our table (more on this later!). Most of us went for the mainstay of the premises - the roast. This was my first visit to a Toby Carvery but others in our party were veterans! The food was good and the choice of meats was great for me. Helped myself to veggies and sauces etc and for the price of the meal found it very good value - I was stuffed as was everyone else in the group. Those having deserts opted for the standard ice cream with a sauce (which when ordered together with a roast you got for £1.50 I think rather than full menu price), and whilst tempted by the sundaes, we were glad with our choice or else we'd have overdone it!
The price of the food was good value for what we got, however we did have some issues.
Firstly, we had asked to be billed individually which we were told was fine (we each wanted to pay by card as didn't think we'd have enough cash), however when the bill came it was all together. This caused a problem as individual card payments seemed no longer possible and would clearly have been a faff upon trying to do so, resulting in some of us having to borrow cash off others in our group to pay the bill. Due to the change we had to pay with there was a quibble from the waitress over 20p - upon a recount we insisted on though it was found to be there after all (we knew we had paid correctly as it was counted by ourselves twice). After studying the bill I then noted that we had been over charged for our drinks. The majority of us went for the unlimited soft drinks option, and all of us refilled with diet drinks rather than "full fat". This is relevant as there are 2 prices on the drinks menu for the unlimited soft drinks - one for diet/max/squash etc, and one for full sugar which we fully appreciate with the sugar levy now imposed. However, we had all been charged for the "full fat" option which was 30p each more expensive despite none of us enjoying the full sugar drinks. This small amount may sound trivial, however they did it to all of us in our group taking unlimited drinks, so it's reasonable to believe they do it to many more customers and so make an sly profit on it. Sadly as we only had one receipt I've not been able to use it to speak to head office about it as yet, but will do on a point of principle.
It's only fair I mention this so others are warned and check their bills and can stop them doing it again.

Unfortunately I missed the young lady's name that served us, but she was lovely and very pleasant.

Does most things very well. Let down by tiny meat portions that wouldn't feed a mouse. Been like it for years, no great desire to improve. VAT saving not passed on to customers.

Just your average eatery. Plenty of food to eat as it's all you can eat but this does effect the quality of the food.

Definitely a great improvement since we were there last, very busy so did wait a little while as we ordered off the menu not carvery. Only criticism they have blocked off where you queue for the carvery so it gets a congested by the gravy, condiments section.

Had their I'm limited breakfast, £4.69 amazing price but very ordinary food..quite a few dishes empty had to ask for egg then after waiting had to ask for hash browns. Choice of food options was I felt quite limited but if you just want to fill your belly then go for it

Not a fan of having to queue for food. Had to stand for 10mins waiting for my turn. Good choice of meats and vegetables etc. The beef was very fatty tho, couldn't eat it. The lamb was ok. Don't think we'd go back tho.

Just had a make over and had extra staff on , from other resteraunts . Therefore It was a 100% improvement from previous visits. The carvery was hot and tasty . Hope they keep extra staff as it was a shambles before , uncleared tables and the manager and chef running about trying to serve at the tables .

Excellent value for money. The beef is usually a little fatty but the crispy roast potatoes make up for it. The dinner is ready on arrival, it's very tasty and staff are polite friendly and helpful.

Booked a table yesterday at 19:40 for a sitting at 20:15. When we turned up they had stopped serving as they'd run out of meat due to being so busy. We ended up at the Old Inn at Penllergaer instead.

Very friendly staff. Good quality carvery. It was busy so each table was called in turn to go to carvery
