I visited today for my first ever curly cut. After a good consultation Val gave my hair a dry curly cut & then cleansed & moisturised my hair with a lovely little head massage. My hair now has lovely shape & the cut really enhances my curls. Val was so lovely, professional, knowledgeable & experienced with curly hair I would definitely go back & highly recommend.

I love it at Val Cussell hair! They've always been very friendly, low-pressure (no hard sell of products, etc.) and it's felt really safe since COVID as well. I'm 37 years old and my last hair cut (done by Amelia) is honestly the best I've ever had! I treated myself to a Kerastraight treatment and I'm so glad I did. Megan was absolutely fantastic and took meticulous care in carrying out the treatment. It was a great afternoon of pampering with fantastic results. My hair which is naturally heavy, thick and wavy was so smooth. My husband couldn't believe it hadn't been cut or thinned. Megan also carried out the aftercare a few days later, making sure the rinse and wash was done properly and making sure I knew how to maintain it myself. It was so quick to style it straight, knocking at least 30 mins off my usual regime. Thank you for my lovely hair and thank you for making me feel safe in the salon with your careful attention to Covid procedures.

A wonderful hair dresser that goes above and beyond to make their clients feel comfortable. Always happy to see you and nothing is too much trouble. I recently had my very long hair cut short - a major change. Val was so supportive and patient with me and made me feel so at ease. I then went back to have highlights done. Luna did my highlights and did the most fantastic job. Just what I was looking for without me even knowing. And Davey makes the best coffee. Even went out and got me soya milk!!! In July 2017 I started having my hair cut by Val Cussell. I was definitely one of those people who feared having their haircut. Val was so patient with me and listened to what I wanted. One year on and I’m now one of those people who loves going to the hairdresser. I never understood it before but Val has totally converted me. So relaxing, enjoyable and fantastic advice. I’ve also had Kera Straight treatment by Luna, I now don’t dread drying my hair myself as it’s so easy. I would recommend Val and her team to anyone who fears the hairdresser or just wants honest, good advice and a fantastic haircut.

My regular hairdresser moved abroad so I figured I'd try a salon local to me. This place looks nice from the outside and the reviews are good so decided to give it a go. Have just had my colour done plus a cut and blow dry by Chris and would highly recommend. Lovely atmosphere, very pleased with my hair and I even got some delicious cake.. so happy to have found a new place that is a 5 minute walk away.

Val has been cutting & colouring my hair for a while now (along with my children). It's always a joy to spend some calm relaxing time with Val & now her staff. I always walk out feeling happy & uplifted by not only a great cut & colour but by being around such lovely people in her beautiful new salon. Exactly what Fiveway's has needed. They accommodated me just before Christmas by fitting in a Gel Nail Polish in between my colour & cut. I can't recommend Charlie high enough. The polish lasted nearly 4 weeks. I only had them removed as my own nails had grown too long! The polish was as good as it was the day it was put on. I have to say I totally disagree with the earlier post about having a bad experience at Val's..am guessing it was a 'set up' by a rival local business! Not the first time a new local business has had to experience this sort of petty behaviour!

so glad i found val and she isn't in a salon in the centre of town , its great to have such a wonderful hairdresser locally. val offers a truly personal touch and is warm and friendly . i have my hair cut and coloured by val and always leave with a smile on my face : ) i have also had the fibre force treatment . i had a lot of broken ends before i meet val , she has brought my hair back to life with care and the use of fibre force . if you are looking for a great hairdresser , you have just found her !! : ) I'm even happier now val has opened a new salon at five ways ,not only is val there but her new salon now offers some wonderful extras . a new beautician who is great and the salon is very chic ,a lovely place to vist . i would highly recommend both val and her lovely staff .

I went to pee Wees for 17 years and have been grieving since they left Brighton. Val Cussell's salon in the heart of Fiveways in Brighton has become my go to place for all things beauty and hair. I love that I can get my nails done and hair done at the same time and in a completely relaxing, calm and luxurious setting. Val is knowledgable, experienced and very creative. I first visited Val after I had lost a lot of hair after pregnancy and she guided me on products and treatments with expert advice and care. Charlie always does my gel manicures and I cannot recommend her enough - her precision is impeccable and my manicure lasts between 3-4 weeks. Charlie has a great range of colours to choose from and she is the expert when it comes to shaping nails and making you feel like a million bucks. Gemma gives the most amazing shampoo head massage and blow-dry. As if that wasn't enough I also take my 2 year old son in every 4 weeks to get his haircut by Peter, who is the most patient person I have ever met, especially when my toddler looks left, right, left every minute during the cut. My son loves Peter and actually looks forward to visiting the hairdressers, which I never thought would happen. I cannot recommend Val Cussell and her amazing team enough - a lovely fresh salon, talented and creative staff, good with kids, experts at beauty and fast becoming my second home.

Its difficult to describe how good Val is - she´s not only friendly funny and good at her job - and I mean very very good (I´d been to about 20 hairdressers before I found her) but after three or four Fibre Force hair treatments, apparently I look 10 years younger!!! Great experience at VCH, Megan was lovely and professional. She added red streaks to my naturally black hair and I'm really happy with the end result. I realised after that I wanted a few more foils which was quick and easy to book in with VCH for no additional fee. Would absolutely recommend this salon! :)
