Professional and skilled haircut guaranteed every time, regardless of which barber you shall decide to go with. Always made to feel welcome and relaxed at Alfie Allen. Can be hard to get an appointment but that’s testament to the quality of cut this barber delivers. Highly recommend.

Always a great cut, in a nice environment and with a top bunch of blokes. I have Eddie as my barber and would absolutely recommend him and Alfie Allen as a barber’s shop in general. On moving to Colchester it took me quite a while to find a barber who was consistently excellent, as there is much more to (good) barbering than just being a ‘hair dresser’. Now, I’m far from an expert on matters of cutting hair, but I will say that if you are a chap* who wants their hair done well, a barber and a hair dresser/stylist (think Toni & Guy type places that offer a unisex (high endish) service), are not the same thing. It’s a bit like having a Range Rover and taking it for a service at a Mercedes dealership. The dealer is perfectly good at servicing Mercedes, but just not the right place for a Range Rover. Barbers are barbers for a reason, and as far as barber’s shops in Essex go (and I have travelled far and wide across the county in the search for a decent hair cut before finding Eddie!), the Alfie Allen lot are the best there is! I’ve been married and divorced a few times and such, I can say that now I’ve found Eddie, I’ll take more care in hanging on to him than I did the wives - and he’s cheaper..! *Given it’s 2022 and we live in modern days, by my use of the word chap, please take this to mean whatever you identify as! God* knows someone, somewhere will take offence, hence this caveat!! ;-) *Although not religious myself, obviously this term is usually associated with the Abrahamic God. However, please do take the opportunity to apply this term to whichever deity you choose to worship. I don’t want anyone to feel excluded from this review, even Satanists.

Alfie Allens is a great barbers with a great atmosphere ! Don't let the smell of testosterone and Alfie's cologne put yot you off, they're a super friendly place and very welcoming. BREAKDOWN OF THE BARBERS THEMSELVES ALFIE Alfie is a top gent and always knocks it out of the park with his top notch cuts. Sadly he lost all of his own hair as a child when watching 'The Empire Strikes Back' and the shocking revelation that Darth Vader was Luke's father caused it to fall out almost overnight. He now lives vicariously through his clients, giving amazing haircuts that he can never have himself. DANIEL Dan is the older journeyman with a wealth of experience in all cuts and techniques as he was around when it was invented yet he still keeps his finger firmly on the pulse of the latest trends and gives quality crisp cuts. He lives in hope of the mullet coming back into fashion...it won't Dan...let it go.... EDDIE Ed is the young gun of the trio, the new Alfie 2.0 Appenticed to Alfie Allen's at a young age he watched and learned from the masters. Now like Bruce Lee did, he combines the styles he's learnt to create his own slick cuts done his way. Some say that Eddie was found in a box on the doorstep of a tattoo parlor as a baby and this explains why he doesn't say much but expresses himself through his ink and haircuts. FINALLY Please note, Alfie Allens is a popular place and while they would love to see you in there, walk-ins aren't always available so if possible give them a call in advance to book an appointment.

Good barbers aren't always the easiest to find and great are even harder but the guys at Alfie Allen have got it all going on. The ambience is spot-on: modern and simple decor with touches of anarchy in the pieces of art dotted around. The welcome is genuine and warm with each barber ensuring their clients are treated as individuals - it's a mature set up. The service is spot on and the skill set of the guys is top-notch. The rewards are well deserved and a fab asset to Colchester.

I was sure I had already rated these guys but was promoted to do so again by Google and I still rate them as the best Barber's I've ever used. Always happy with the cut and service. Would and have recommended to all. They are one of the barber shops to have to book an appointment which at first took some getting used to as I had been used to just turning up and waiting, and waiting and waiting 😂 and as you can guess I am now all for the booking of appointments!! I now just book my next cut in on the way out and best of all you get an reminder email so you can move your appointment via there website to any available slots! Can't rate the whole experience higher.
