I came in a couple months ago and Mark did my hair. He is incredible with colour and giving advice on how to style your hair. I’ve always struggled with the shape of my hair and Mark cut it in a way that has allowed it to be low maintenance and look incredible. He recoloured my hair so it suited my skin tone and could grow out in a way that wasn’t obvious. Amazing hairdresser!

I had my hair cut and blow dried yesterday for £55 and had the best time with Mark! I was in desperate need of a haircut after about 6 months without one and Mark managed to take out the dead weight without taking much off the length which was great. Had a great chinwag with him and he let me play the Christmas tunes that I wanted and to top it off, the blow dry he gave me made me feel like a celebrity! I have wavy/curly hair and normally hate having my hair blow dried but I couldn't believe how gorg he made my hair look! Lastly, he didn't try to sell me expensive hair products which as a student I really appreciated. Having my hair cut there felt like self care and I'll definitely be back :)

Outstanding and highly recommended! Mark (Torphichen salon) gave me the best haircut of my life (and I've been around a while). I feel transformed! I recently moved to Edinburgh and was nervous about finding a good hair stylist. I am so glad I found this place. He also offered great advice (I have difficult hair) and was down to earth with good chat, not fake or pretentious, and the salon is lovely - comfortable and clean. Great experience and I won't go anywhere else!

I feel like I have found my forever hairdresser. Having gone to many in Edinburgh I came here and I won't look back. I've been with Kristine several times now and she is incredible. Takes great care to make sure your hair is perfect and that you're happy with it. She's also extremely talented with short hair which - having had several hairdresser nightmares - I'm so glad to have found her. The salon itself is beautiful; it's small but in a nice way; it's clean and it's bright and professional. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good quality, well-priced, wonderful hairdresser.

From the moment I inquired about having my hair coloured to when I walked out of Noir Rouge, I was made to feel welcome. Charlie is knowledgeable and has a terrific eye to what will look good and suit your skin tone. He managed to transform my hair back to its original colour explaining what he had in mind. He was courteous, professional and the end result looks great! Definitely worth a visit!

I got went in for a haircut, and Mark (salon director) did an incredible job. You can tell he has immense experience and knowledge, and was very very helpful in specifically suggesting what would suit my hair texture, while accommodating what I wanted. Went with my fingers crossed based on reviews and came out absolutely wowed with beautiful soft layers framing my face. Mark has excellent technical abilities combined with vast experience. I just loved his cut. He has a very good understanding of hair types and what would suit the person. I have tried several high end brands to independent salons in Edinburgh and London and this has been the best to date. Not one for posting reviews, can’t recommend NOIRouge highly enough.

Have been loyal to this salon and Kristine for nearly 2 years now. She really listens to your needs/concerns, takes your unique situation into consideration and advises well. She took my hair from short, brittle and lifeless to the longest/healthiest it's ever been, all while able to maintain a lovely, natural looking blonde. I've had my hair cut, coloured and highlights by Kristine now several times and every time I come out of the salon smiling with my hair feeling so much thicker & healthier looking. She listens to what you want, gives advice on what she thinks will suit my fine hair and has a lovely calm manner. The salon is comfortable & well located and all prices are very fair, another reason for returning as further into town is extortionate.

Went here for the first time yesterday and loved the whole experience! Really warm welcome when I arrived about 20 minutes early! Was given a cup of tea and a couple of sweets while I waited. Unfortunately I didn’t get the gentleman’s name who done my cut and blow dry. I do know he’s the creative director of the store though! I had an idea of what style I wanted for my hair and showed him the images I had. What I loved was he gave constructive criticism and creative suggestions based on my hair type! I absolutely love the look I’ve came out with. It’s very much tailor made to how my hair sits naturally as well as my hair type and facial features. Also got advice on the best type of styling product for my fine flat hair which was a clay product. Delighted with the whole experience! On the way out I was given a little loyalty card and a wee gift bag with some festive chocolates inside! Highly recommend this place if you haven’t been already!

I didn't even have an appointment and the staff couldn't have been better about fitting me in and helping me out. My hair was cut by Mark who was a dream. Loved the cut and advice he gave me, but besides being exceptionally good at what he does, he was great fun. None of the normal hairdresser nightmare chat - instead interesting, witty and insightful. The stylists were wonderful and friendly as well as very skilled and experienced. A few weeks ago I decided to dye my hair for the very first time along with getting a fresh, post-lock down cut. I wanted it to look very natural with just a few subtle highlights through my long dark hair. I didn't know the difference between highlights/T-bar/balayage, so relied entirely on the expertise and advice of Mark who filled me with confidence the moment he sat me down to talk through different options and look at photos of styles I had in mind. The best part about the process was that he did not simply nod along to my suggestions but challenged them and was honest about what he thought would and would not work with my type of hair. He also mamaged to talk me out of "a boring 70s haircut" I thought I really wanted....and I'm so grateful for that! A few weeks on, my hair still looks like I've just spent a few weeks in the sun with natural looking highlights. The salon felt safe with staff making a lot of effort to abide by covid19 regulations. I will be coming back!!

I was in Edinburgh for one day only (on a Sunday) and when I enquired about having my hair coloured (the day before arriving) Nick responded instantly to me. There was a cancellation so I was able to go in and have my hair done. Mark coloured my hair, I really trusted him, he listened to everything I said and was very professional (I'd had a disaster hair cut just the week before in Dublin and didn't even mention it because I felt so comfortable). I went in for a haircut and blow-dry the day of a friend's wedding, but when I told Mark where I was headed he insisted I couldn't go with just normal hair. He sent my husband out to buy some flowers and then Mark expertly did my hair up last-minute, pinning the flowers in to match my dress. I got SO many compliments at the wedding! Highly recommended! I read the reviews and found that it is really close to my home. So I just gave it a try. I never got hair dyed in Edinburgh so I was worried about it. But the outcome is just stunning! I like the color Christina mixed for me. It was similar to my previous color but much better. It suits my skin tone perfectly as well! Well, inside a week I had an appointment with the lovely Marishka. The salon is really nice and has comfortable chairs, and I had 2 nice cups of tea while I was there. Marishka listened to what I said and did exactly what I wanted, she also has a good balance of chatting and then just allowing me to sit in peace and quiet.
