Edward James in Battersea offer a high quality service. The salon is situated amidst restaurants, pubs and Supermarkets on a main road, so is easily accessible. It is well presented and it is obvious that a lot of effort has been made to make the place look fancy and attract clientele of all ages. They also offer a number of hair products to those that maybe interested. The staff are exceptionally friendly from the time a customer walks in, regardless of how busy they are. They ensure that each customer is given full attention and care and this is obvious from the complimentary drinks and head and shoulder massages. My stylist Hayley, has been my stylist for approximately two years and has always done a great job. She is extremely friendly and professional and it's obvious that she has plenty of experience under her belt. She has never disappointed and gives her work her 100 percent as she ensures my hair look a lot better from when I first walked in. Her service is quite therapeutic and sometimes this is what is needed after a long day. I recommend her services to all.

A great haircut and perfect colouring is the first, key service at Edward James and Mide, who does my hair, does both perfectly. She listens to what I ask for, discusses it and then does what we agree. The next layer of service is the focus and interest on the customer as a person and that's what makes it extra special. I have always had an incredibly positive experience at Edward James. I first came here a year or so ago and have always hated my hair - however when I come away from the salon I have never been so happy with my hair. I had balyage and the colours that they use are such good quality that my hair did not feel damaged whatsoever. I always have Charlie who is lovely, friendly and so great - I would never trust anyone else with my hair! Not the cheapest salon in the world but is worth every penny - you certainly get what you pay for :).

Having been a bit scared by the prospect of colouring my hair, I've been delighted by the results. Charli took time to understand my needs, and go for subtle, pretty highlights, just enough to start to cover the grey bits, but didn't look false at all - e.g. my hair but better ! I first came to the salon about 18 months ago with hair that had been badly damaged elsewhere (think snapped off at the roots). Patricia did a lovely olaplex treatment, and was so careful and thorough I kept coming back. Since then, she has cut my hair and then done balayages as well as treatments to keep it in good condition despite taking it from black to blonde. I have had so many compliments on my hair, and have recommended friends who now are also devoted to her. The salon itself is lovely. Good selection of drinks, lovely massage and the massage chairs at the basin as excellent. The whole team at the salon are lovely and professional. It has taken me years to find a good hairdresser that I want to keep going back to, but I’ve finally managed it!

I can’t recommend Edward James highly enough, they are hands down the best salon I have ever been to - I’ve been a client for two years, with the lovely Natalie as my stylist, and there’s no way I’d consider going anywhere else now. They are completely focussed on giving the client an exceptional experience, it’s such a treat on every visit and so warm and welcoming. My hair has never looked better (and it’s not the easiest hair). Genuinely I’ve had so many complements since I’ve been coming here. That’s all you really need to know but I’m not great at being brief so read on for more detail (I may post this to more than one site in case anyone is concerned about validity of review!) So to set context. I had the same hairdresser for 7 years. He died under very sad circumstances. Working out where to go next was really hard as it almost felt disloyal. But then I thought he would never forgive me for having bad hair! And so I had to choose somewhere. My hair is long and thick and a bit wavy but not in a cool way so I mostly straighten it and it takes a lot of my time whatever I do. Initially I was looking into some of the famous hairdressers we all know of as I wanted a level of security around the quality of results. I’m prepared to pay if it’s worth it. But what put me off was the location of some of those salons. I live in south west London and really like being able to go to local businesses when I can. There’s a great community feeling here and to be honest, I’m in the salon between 3 to 5 hours each time I go - a 10 min journey vs an hour each way makes a big difference. So I was googling local places in the hope I could find a similar standard nearby, and came across Edward James and pretty consistently fab reviews. So I booked in... I booked with Natalie as I was very nervous about going somewhere new and purposely went for the top end of the scale of stylists. After two years of her being my hair stylist, I completely trust her. She is so lovely, friendly and down to earth and I genuinely look forward to catching up with her. The first time I met her I was so relieved to find that she has long hair, as I do as well and hate hairdressers trying to cut off so much more than I want - I’m just not someone who likes to change their hair a great deal and there’s never any pressure to try something new unless you want to! I’ve never left the salon feeling other than elated with my hair. It isn’t cheap coming here but for me worth every penny. A friend of mine often talks about the idea of “cost per use” to evaluate the worth of buying / paying for something. Well I look in the mirror everyday and my hair makes the biggest impact on how I look so to me that’s worth the investment. Since I’ve been coming to Natalie, my hair has never looked better and the confidence that brings on a daily basis is priceless. Also there is a range of price levels depending on stylist, I have highlights, I have keratin treatments and I try to go very regularly. So you could spend way less than I do to be honest and still enjoy the service there. So to that point. The service is phenomenal. The staff are all just lovely. You get a lovely head and shoulder massage as standard at the start of every visit. They have great refreshments and occasionally some bubbles! And everyone is just so nice! I’m always there a long time but it just feels like a treat. Um so quite a long review which is maybe why I normally don’t bother - if I share an opinion it tends to be in detail. But this place is fabulous and deserves every ounce of praise. Thanks guys!

I love Edward James salon; they were brilliant before lockdown, but since re-opening, they work so hard to make going to the hairdresser the pleasure it used to be, without in any way compromising Covid-safety. The receptionist is welcoming and efficient. Everything is so well organised. Most importantly, the quality of stylists and colourists are excellent. Pavlova is superb, I highly recommend her. Nice neck massage prior to hair wash. Chairs at the basins were also massage enabled which was great however the basin had no neck covering which made it extremely hard and painful on the back of my neck. Good quality products used. Unfortunately the lady cutting my hair was scissor happy and my long thick locks were soon mid length. Good shape but i had to request she didn't use the thinning scissors underneath my hair as after 20 years of growth I didn't want whispy tail ends. This left me with one side lighter than the other. I've never had thinning scissors used that aggressively before, especially without asking. Also the first cut was made on my length before asking if I was ok with the amount as I had specified 1-2" off only. A little more communication with the customer would ho a long way

Edward James is absolutely brilliant. I get my colour done with Lauren--she 100% gets my style/taste without even having to explain, fits me when (within reason) whenever I need it and I always come out feeling like a new and improved person. She is, hands down, the best colourist and stylist I've ever had. Sadly I'm moving country soon and on my last visit to get my hair done yesterday, she brought me a card and flowers. Had my leaving do and got a MILLION compliments. Everyone at the salon is so nice and very clearly talented. I cannot say enough good things about Lauren-- will be sad to leave her!

I went to Edward James in Clapham for the first time not knowing really what to expect, although when I first called to book an appointment, I was asked if my previous hairdresser could send notes on what Aveda products I had used. I thought this very thorough and was impressed that they needed this information before my treatment. From the moment I arrived to when I left 2.5 hours later, I felt as if I was in heaven! I was given a neck and shoulders massage, offered coffee and later Prosecco! The salon was buzzing but not in a hectic, stressful way. Whilst waiting for my hair cut (after my colour had been washed off) I was offered a hand massage! Genarro ( colour) and Pav (cut)were lovely, very professional and friendly. I loved my experience there and am so happy that I found a new hairdressers that is worth every penny I paid!

Fab first experience at this salon, and definitely will come back. Christian may not be the most enthused or talkative of colourists, but he did a good job, and I was very happy with the end result. Harriet my cutter, was positive, lovely and understood straight away what my issues were with the previous cut, and what would suit me, she did a fab job. I would definitely ask for her again. The salon at Clapham was super busy, like uncomfortably so, to the point where (much to my surprise) at one point I got asked if I was ok to get off my comfy hairdresser chair and go sit with head full of foils on the sofa in the foyer with a view to pedestrians etc. I did mind, and they found another solution, but it is testament that it is probably uncomfortably/too tightly booked. The good news is they have just opened a salon at Balham, which I was told is 2 levels and more roomy, so I think I will try that next, especially as lovely Harriet is moving there too. Overall, very positive first experience, and first time client 30% discount was a lovely surprise. Special mention goes to absolutely terrific Flora, the best personnel I have encountered in any hairdresser, absolutely gorgeous caring professional, and not just because it is always a delight to start one's hairdresser experience with a head and shoulder massage on arrival with fragrant essential oil.

Today was my first visit in this salon and I loved every minute of it. Little details like offering complimentary tea and biscuits, discount for first time visitors, massaging chair to relax my back muscles while having my hair washed, head and shoulder massage- fantastic service! Having my hair done at Edward James is my little treat to myself! I met Ed at his previous salon and as soon as I caught wind that he was opening up his own salon I was banging on his door, as he was the most enjoyable part of having my hair done. I originally had dark brown shoulder-length hair but consistently had problems with grey re-growth on my hair line but with guidance from Ed and him setting an action plan of small steps, I now have blonde mid-length hair, which I should have done years ago and suits my complexion and face shape so much better. I receive a lot of compliments and I'm always happy to recommend Edward James. Ed's a brilliant hair dresser but that's not now the only part I enjoy of going to the Salon. The teams at both salons are very friendly and engaging, the salons are always clean, lovely Aveda products, good selection of magazines, always offered a selection of drinks (even champers in the evenings) and the complimentary stress relief massages are just super! I wouldn't recommend any where else better!

I have been coming to the clapham branch for 2 years and love this place. I was on the look out for an Aveda salon and not only does this deliver but offers lovely perks such as the stress relief massage, great coffee and other drinks with biscuits. It really helps you switch off and relax from the daily grind. Pavlova has been taking care of my hair beautifully, I have premature greys and slightly dry hair. I always get comments on how my great my hair looks, it has been healthy and full with a regular dose of spilt end treatments as well. The price is reasonable for Aveda and you can avail rebooking discounts. I couldn't reccomend it enough!

First visit to this place of loveliness.. I thought I was just going for a hair cut and a bit of a discussion about how to salvage the various colours that languish in my hair. These are long term historic attempts at some grey coverage, some uplifting highlights and some -Oh dear-tone - them -down - low lights. Not a good look. My friend Lucy had taken me in hand and recommended Edward James Salon in Northcote Road. She directed me to the wonderful stylist Mide and said "Relax, you will I promise, come out of there feeling and looking a lot better" Frankly in my case, the only way was up. The whole experience was just great. Really efficient receptionists.. not always the case at hairdressers, tea produced as I sat down, then a head massage.. who knew? Mide arrived, and an excellent consultation ensued, what ever she thought about my straw -like locks, her face did not betray her - she hardly paused before she suggested some root coverage to blend and a few foils in darker tones to deal with the over sunned blonde highlights. While I tried not to enjoy flicking through "Hello", the lovely girl who massaged my head came back to massage my hands! I reclined in a chair that reminded me of the dentist but with nicer results - a back massage, while my hair was washed and treated, ... More tea, GREAT hair cut, and stylish dry - wafted out of there feeling like I'd had a mini break! Note to self, do not immediately go across the road to the supermarket to shop.. spell broken. Looking forward to allowing myself the next time.

Having been a client here a few years ago I stopped visiting Edward james because of changing Staff constantly and rather poor service. Recently I decided to give it another chance as adam cut my daughters hair so beautifully and was so welcoming towards me and even gave me an impromptu consultation on my current hair. We decided that some highlights And a all over colour underneath would be a good plan of action , Adam really listened to what I wanted and spent a lot of time really making sure that we where on the same page. I havnt been happy with my hair colour since last year and adam really gave me realistic expectations and even gave me a few price options. I was So thrilled with my new colour and cut ,It was soft shiny and exactly what I wanted. The service has dramatically improved since my last visit, adam did deal with me directly throughout but the other staff seemed nice .Iv never been happier with my hair or my experience in any salon. Price wise , it’s not a cheap salon , but Honeslty worth every penny ! If you want a great hairdresser visit adam!

I defy anyone to find a finer hairdresser! Edward James, both in Northcote Road at the Putney High Street salon, are just brilliant. You are made to feel so welcome and like a proper customer. I have been to so many salons and spas over the years where one can feel uncomfortable and intimidated; but not here. From the moment you arrive you feel cocooned. A complimentary head massage sets you on your way to feeling utterly spoilt. Whether it be for a simple wash and blow-dry or for a full head of highlights you are guided effortlessly through with professional advise and care. ( Proper coffee is the order of the day - not a jar of nescafe in sight! btw). The Spa in Putney is wonderful, here again Edward has brilliantly engaged staff who really care about what you need. Forget going North of the River - this place is all you need and more. Both salons are second to none, whoever you have they are charming, friendly and above all, know their stuff.

I'm in my 10th year of coming back, having moved from Clapham to Wiltshire and back to London but an hour away - I couldn't contemplate going elsewhere, despite the logistics and time to get there. It is an experience rather than a service. Ed is intuitive and attentive, noticing the smallest detail to make sure clients are happy. All of Ed's team are friendly, and they seem to be having fun with each other - such a lovely environment. The surrounding are spot-on stylish, with just the right level of opulent kitsch (I'm looking at you, golden palm tree lamps!).. most importantly, my hair! I always leave with great hair, walking 6 inches taller. Ed has got to know me and I've trusted him to give me various fringes, umpteen different shades of scattered lights, bobs and long layers. Currently "owning" my grey by accenting the streak I have in front, and adding some gorgeous scattered streaks underneath and around to give the inevitable onset of grey a bit of rock-star edge.

A bit expensive but worth it! Great service, massages, drinks and snacks offered, the staff are lovely and the place itself is very nice. The end results are also always great, have never been disappointed by a haircut there! What's also great is that they listen to what you want and make it work rather than trying to make their own tastes reflect on your head.
