I don't often feel compelled to review places, but I feel this deserves an exception. I'm new to the area and was looking for a new barber - Groom was the recommendation I received from a friend. It did not disappoint. Despite visiting on what seemed like a busy lunchtime shift, I was made to feel like time and care was being taken over my hair. At no point did it feel rushed; in fact, I came out feeling relaxed and very pleased with the haircut and beard trim I had received. Special mention to Emre who was terrific, very friendly, and gave me some beard grooming advice to take with me! Very good value for the time spent on my hair. I have found my new barber in SW London.

I went to this Barber as recommended by my son on a Sunder afternoon the lady done my hair and a facemask (first time ever ) and face massage . The service was amazing I felt like I just came out of a Spa day . I got a Loyalty card as this is my new Barber . Thank You .

Visited Groom twice now. Fantastic all round. Very welcoming straight from the off. Speaking to the owner, the mentality is to offer the best cut and service regardless of time. Which is exactly what I'm after when getting a trim. We went through what I wanted and was offered advice on the best approaches for my style. Both cuts were at a perfectionist level and you can tell the barbers have quite a few years experience between them. The razor blade finishing and singe are great little touches and are appreciated as many others around the area go with the bare minimum approach to a chop. If you're in the need for a haircut, these guys are the best I've come across and I've tried all the top rated barbers in the area.

An average experience from Groom barbers in Balham. Relatively quiet when you enter, I was only greeted by the owner, the other two did not seem that welcoming. I was seen by a gentlemen with glasses. I asked for a standard short back and sides with a trim on top. However, when the barber proceeded to cut my hair on top he didn't bother to ask how much of the top I wanted cut off and just chopped away. Subsequently, rather than a trim he made the top a little too short. In addition, once he had finished he didn't let me check the back of my hair with the mirror so I left not seeing whether the back was done ok. He didn't make any effort to talk to me and didn't ask me whether I wanted anything else or whether I was happy with the cut at the end. Felt a little awkward as he just took the cover off me and then silence. Prior to sitting for my haircut I overheard a woman complaining to the owner that a barber who works at Groom (is tall with blue eyes) had cut her son's hair too short on one side and that she had to let it grow out for a month. Again, didn't give me much confidence. Thankfully, whilst my cut was a little shorter than I wanted it still looked ok. There's a couple of good things about this barbers: - Loyalty card. They offer a loyalty scheme where if you visit a certain number of times you get £3 off a haircut (they charge £17 which is slightly more than other places). If you visit 10 times you get free hair wax/gel. Not a bad idea but no real incentive to come back for £3 off when you can go to another barber up the road and pay £1 less each time you go for a hair cut - thus working out as a saving. How about a free haircut after 10 visits? Or half price hair cut? Or a free hot towel? Or free drinks? -Nice look to the barbers. However it's quite a small space compared to local ones in the area. - The owner seems nice, welcoming and knows his stuff. I think the majority of people who attended for a hair cut were waiting for him. I think the owner needs to do some work on ensuing that the other staff work to the same standard. Overall an average experience with some improvements needed to the service provided by the barbers working there. I probably won't make a return, however, as other barbers within Balham are slightly cheaper and provide a better overall experience/service at this time.
