I love this place!! Been coming for a few years now and had my first colour a few days ago. I wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted going in, but Fairy did a beautiful job and it turned out even better than I’d have hoped. They’re quick and efficient, know what they’re doing and give fantastic cuts. Oh and you can’t beat the location! :)

Always impressed by their work! I have been going to Hair By Fairy for well over a year every few months to dye my hair blue. The colour is always really vibrant and lasts ages. I'm always happy with the colour and the pricing is always fair - especially for somewhere in central London! The staff are also all really sweet and the salon is always very relaxed. Easily my favourite hair salon in London and would highly recommend. *Just editing this review to add a photo. Got my hair done again today and I love everything about it. I've been going to Hair By Fairy for my quarterly haircuts ever since a friend recommended them 20 years ago. They are warm, friendly, play great music in a charming, well-located salon. They are quick, efficient and very good at what they do. Factor in their always low prices, and HBF has to be one of, if not, the best value hairdressers in town!

I've been going to Fairy for 25years and whenever I'm in London ... technically great hairdressers, lovely people with lots of knowledge and quality product. I've used Hair by Fairy for Colours and Cut, for both me and our children and have always been very happy with the service. Latest treatment has been half head hair extensions to liven up my tired looking hair. Great head massages when washing hair and always treated like an old friend in communication. Situated in a hidden oasis in the middle of Covent Garden surrounded by fab local businesses (pizza, Neal's Yard, decent coffee and awesome Thai back rub). This is a magical corner of London.

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING YOU NEED TO GO… I’m not even capping when I say this is the best experience I have ever had getting my hair done. I have never had such a good hair cut. ( a mullet btw) my hair was cut by the owner I think? She was amazing honestly so good. Ask for the lady who gave Jess with brown hair a mullet. Because you will not be disappointed. I had ruined my own hair by cutting it WRONG. She fixed it so easily and spoke to me through the entire process and told me ideas of what she thought would look best regarding the length to fit the style etc. She was amazing relaxing kind. Honestly the best hair cut I’ve ever had even as another customer was leaving she shouted over to her kindly and said something along the lines of “dear you must take your hair from out of your coat it will flatten it” and when I was leaving she was calling over to me and telling me how much of the hair oil to use!! She clearly cares allot about her customers and has a real passion for hair dressing. Honestly a breathe of fresh air within the london beauty industry. Om top of this the price was amazing too it was £59 in total and I even bought a hair oil!! 59 FOR THE BEST HAIR CUT AND HAIR CUT EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE !! You will not regret this. I was in London and wanted to cut my hair in a big posh saloon but when I step in this shop i have immediately realized that was the right place. This is literally the best hair salon I have been to ever. My friends also share the same opinion. For a higher cost, this place actually give so much more than they offered. The hair dressers and the manager are very friendly and nice, I had interactions with almost everyone of them in the shop and they are very nice and talented. Because I cut off a lot of my hair, they advised me to donate my hair to Little Princess Trust which is very nice of them to advise. They use very good products considering the state of my hair after the bleach is considered very healthy compared to other people I know. I dyed my hair in very bright colours on my jet black hair and after two bleaches, the colours on my hair are very bright and looked even better than I expected which was very amazing. The hairdressers offered to curl my friend’s and my hair without charging for it and all of us received a very big discount. I paid £88 pounds for possibly a £350 service. I can’t ask for a better place to go to for my hair.

The team are very friendly, prices very reasonable and the job was fairly quick and very well done. Highly recommend! Just adding to this to reiterate how great the service is here! I got a great haircut here recently by Paula and had my hair redyed by Fairy today. I am so happy with the re-bleach and pink-purple mix, and the amazing price. I've been going to Hair By Fairy to have my hair dyed (balayage) and cut for a few years now, but unfortunately I used another hairdresser for my post-lockdown do because it was closer to home. Big mistake! I ended up with stripy hair. Fortunately, Paula was able to save the day, and she and one of her colleagues put great care and attention into making sure everything was evened out, and my hair looked exactly how I wanted. Definitely worth the trip into town. Covid regulations were followed by everyone and I came out with the honey balayage I'd wanted all along.

I never want more than a basic cut to keep my hair healthy, so Hair by Fairy is a dream come true, because I can just pop in without an appointment and I don't have to pay a billion pounds for someone to trim my hair. I've never had to wait more than ten minutes, it's cheap, the stylists are nice and efficient, and the owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I've been coming here for a year now and can't recommend it enough for an economical, pleasant hair cut (and I'd bet they're good for more complicated things, too)! They've recently put the price up to £25 for a women's wash and cut, but that's still a great deal.

Been going here pretty much consistently since I moved to London 12 years ago. It's the best price to quality ratio I've found in London by a mile. Really great, consistent haircuts and impossibly cheap in Covent Garden. When I've moved to a new location I've occasionally tried a local place rather than travel into central London, but it's always been a let down. And Bijan manages the place brilliantly, always feel taken care of. Looking forward to heading in next week and get the mop hacked back after months in lockdown.

Since moving to London, I've always had my hair cut at Hair by Fairy. It's very affordable and the queues always move very quickly. I was very impressed with today in particular, as I had my hair dyed for the very first time. I was well looked after and was given plenty of advice on what colour would suit me (I was getting a crazy colour, so didn't know where to start). Ended up with really cool bright purple hair - I LOVE IT! I would definitely recommend this hair salon!

I went here just before lockdown for a pixie cut. The hairdresser was brilliant. In less than 15 minutes, she had given me the most beautiful pixie cut I've ever had. This is my regular spot. Great cuts and great colour. All the staff there are nice and from all over the world. I've had good cuts & good chats with everyone :) 2017 I decided to bleach up to icy grey from my natural brown. May cut, bleached & coloured my hair and it looked ah-may-zing! Now I try to see her everytime. Some places the cut looks good but it grows out badly, May's cuts always grow out nicely so if I can't make my next appointment it looks less like a mad scientist in between. They can get very busy but they always take the time for you to make sure you leave happy. I tell all my friends to go there now! EDITED REVIEW - PLEASE READ ALL CAUSE I HAD TWO VERY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES Hair By Fairy has been the best hairdressing experience I’ve had in London. I had a very peculiar request - a blue balayage - the manager sat down with me and we agreed what to do together as he guided me to the best choice. Everyone in the staff has been extremely kind and competent, and the final result was amazing. Definitely the best hairdressers in central London, the location is also a wonderful place, so I cannot recommend them enough! EDIT: I feel like I have to update my review as unfortunately my second visit wasn't as good as the first one. I went there to refresh my colour, so cover the roots with a darker brown and re-do the blue at the bottom. When I left the first time they told me I would only have to pay £20 to put the blue back. Of course I was expecting to pay a bit more as I had to do the roots as well, anyway the final bill came up to a much higher cost and I was so disappointed. The lady doing my hair was a different one this time and she did my colour very nicely, although VERY quickly - I noticed she was rushing. When she blow dried my hair, she didn't even ask how I wanted it blow dried, and was doing it so brutally. She kept hitting my head with the brush, almost getting into one of my eyes. The cost for all of this was £100 (yes, one hundred pounds) and I still don't understand how we got to that price since I didn't have to bleach or anything. The most disappointing part was that I still have some gray hair at the roots, as my colour was done so quickly. I would still recommend this place but make sure you're being done by the Italian girl or guy (they're both amazing).

I never g anywhere else for my hair both cut and colouring. Before I came to hair by fairy I had tried everywhere - all the big ones and the boutique ones - and nobody does colour and cut the way they do here. The atmosphere is wonderful, everyone is so kind, and my hair is always literally perfect when I leave. I’ve been bleached about 15 times here and my hair remains in perfectly good condition! Couple months ago I went to Toni&Guy to get a balayage. My hair was dark brown (naturally auburn). My roots were long, however my hair was left a patchy mess. After being recommend by a friend to come here, I’m so glad I did! My hair was completely revived to a beautiful light colour balayage. The patches were fixed and I was even given a treatment. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere and felt I was in good hands! Will 100% be returning! Being new to London, Hair by Fairy will definitely become my new local hairdresser. Honestly best hairdressers I’ve been to.

This place is magical! Where else can you walk in after almost a decade and the manager still call you by your first name? Each cut comes with little differences that show each hairdressers own skill. Sometimes after a wash it can take getting used to but I've never once been left upset! My first experience of Hair by Fairy was 18 years ago, when a wash and cut was merely £6.50! Going back today was like returning home, friendly faces always happy and chatty. A true staple of the Neal's Yard and Covent Garden scene.

The salon is very clean and proficient and I must say the place is great! I waited about 10 minutes, got my hair cut by a women who I believe to be Japanese and she did an amazing job. I told the hairstylist to cut my and she did it precisely. Nothing more, nothing less. Probably the whole wash, cut, and dry took 10 - 15 minutes. I hope the washing lady was more careful but in general, it’s all worth it. They made me feel comfy and they asked me how I loved it all the way. I'd definitely go back for another cut again.

Friendly and affordable. I've been coming here to get my hair cut for the last few years. The guy at the front desk knows me now and always asks how I'm doing. There seem to be a lot of different stylists but they all appear to know what they're doing and I've never had a bad haircut from any of them. At the time of writing it's £16 for a men's hair cut. There are definitely cheaper places but I keep coming back because I know they'll do a good job!

I've been in the saloon about a month ago and I loved it! The saloon is beautiful and spacious, the staff very nice and friendly. I've been going here for 5 years and have nothing but good things to say. I find the staff welcoming and the cuts are always great. I also get highlights done there and I'm really happy with them. They're also full of good advice. I usually have May for cut and colour who is my favourite, but I've had others when she isn't available. Yes, they don't chat to you very much but that's one of the things I love about it! You can just sit back and enjoy the experience. My partner has been going there since 2003 and has never gone anywhere else. If you're after being greeted with big smiles and being served tea and hanging around for an hour then pay for an expensive salon and you'll get that. Here, the price is cheap, you get the cut you want and it's an enjoyable and easy experience. I love it.

The only place to have your hair cut in town. I can not recommend this hairdressers enough. As a child I was severely bullied because of a haircut I had when I was 12yrs old! Because of that I stopped going to hairdressers until I was 30, Hair by Fairy was the first hair dressers I went to 18 years later and have been going for the last 12 years. The price is incredible for central London but more importantly they are super friendly and welcoming. Whilst you can’t book in advance you can wait for certain stylists, just ask ❤️❤️❤️

I am coming to the saloon for over 10 years now, but today I feel that I have to write a review as I just got across the review a lady wrote before me which unfortunately was very negative. I witnessed the situation and think there has been a BIG misunderstanding ( a shame for both sides ). We both came more or less the same time. My appointment was at 10h00 hers at 10h15 as she told me as we started to chat. It is true that we started maybe a little late but she would have been served right after me which would have been maybe 10 minutes later that her scheduled appointment. One great thing about Hair by Fairy is the possibility to walk in and this morning quite a lot customers came also without an appointment. I want to assure that NOBODY in this saloon is or wants to be rude and the work done there is really good. I may have tried different saloons over the years but there is a reason I come back every time and I am sorry that the lady did not wait 5 minutes longer.

I hate spending loads of money on haircuts nowadays, i think i have had equal quality going to fancy expensive places as i have going to the local "old Lady" hairdressers, and so because of this I now tend to go for the cheaper option, especially as i am growing out my hair and generally only want a trim i don't want to be paying out £40-70. after some research i found Hair By Fairy and as it was a couple of minute walk away from my work i thought it was worth a try. knowing that you couldn't book i prepared myself for a long lunchtime wait, i was however pleasantly surprised at the 2 minute wait to get my hair washed, then another few minute wait till the stylist became available. once sat we chatted about what i wanted and away we went! 35 minutes or so later, i was done, paid my £19 and off I went. This is the perfect place if you want a no nonsense straight forward cut, i may think twice if i wanted a complete restyle but for upkeep and general maintenance it is perfect! one thing i would have liked is to have a small consultation with the stylist before my hair was washed, as i think it would have been easier to see how my hair fell before cutting it, but it was fine none the less.

A hairdresser that actually listens and also provides advice on how to make the look better. I went in at around lunchtime, was told to wait for a short while before a colouring expert was free. During this period I had to find an cash machine, because unfortunately, they do not accept cards here. This took a while, since the 2 nearest cash machines were out of order. Later I met my hairdresser, and told her approximately what I wanted to do and showed her pictures of the colour. The bleaching did not take as long as my previous bleaches had, which was very good. In fact the whole session took no longer than 3 hours, which is very good, as I a lot of hair which usually takes longer. My hairdresser advised me to apply a permanent but a slightly darker colour, which would stay for a considerably longer period of time and would be worth the money. So I did, and the result was almost exactly what I had imagined. Overall, the bleach and full head colouring + straight blowdrying amounted to £130, which they kindly discounted for me, as I didn't have enough cash. Overall an excellent experience, I left very satisfied.

Then I waited for five to ten minutes for a stylist to become avaliable to cut my hair (but it was worth it for the end result). The stylist I ended up with seemed to really know what she was doing, and I absolutely love how my hair looks. At the end she blowdried it really nicely and put a bit of oil on the ends. And all for only £19!

The blow drying is expensive - around £30. But their colouring procedures are affordable. To dye my hair was a tough decision at first, but when I saw the results there was no doubt that this was the right color for me. I never go to hairstyle salons with freshly-washed hair, because I want the professionals to see my hair when it isn't in its best condition. There is no such thing like " do the same thing that you did the last time ", so spare some time in explaining exactly what you want to see.

First I used to have them trim my long hair but then deciding after a couple of cuts that I wanted it in a short bob I had it all cut off by one if the hairdressers there and have not looked back. I've had short bob hair in my life before and never really got on with it because I've always had problems getting the hairdresser to cut it short enough. Hair By Fairy are the first place I've found where they're not scared to cut it as short as you ask and the result is a really good cut! It's quick - I find a hairdresser taking ages to cut my hair very annoying. You don't need an appointment - just walk in, I've always been seen after only a short wait.

I didn't have the greatest of experiences here the first time. I went for a set of gel nails with extensions which are meant to last three weeks. Within three days, they were coming clean off, and by the end of the first week I had lost 4 of the nails. I went back in to complain, and the girls were really apologetic. They could not believe that it had happened. They offered to redo them free of charge (which I would expect given the price of a set of gel nails), and they took great care to make sure everything was ok. They did work out the second time, and lasted the three weeks, but they were still not as "secure" as I would have liked. I'm not sure I'll be back unfortunately.
