I have recently completed a 11 week course and received my qualification for my NVQ 2 & 3. I am pleased to say the trainers and teachers were extremely friendly, patient and helpful whilst learning barbering. They had extremely helped me boost my confidence to a point where I feel completely comfortable completing a haircut on my own. Hair For Men Academy is an amazing school. I did the NVQ2 - 9 weeks course. I started out as an absolute beginner (with no prior knowledge or experience in cutting hair) and by the end of my first week I had already been taught how to perform a variety of different men's hair cuts which I was then able to carry out on real life models with the guidance and support from tutors. The academy is run professionally by academy director Paul Guy, who has a lifetime of experience and knowledge in the industry, alongside his great team of tutors who will guide you thoroughly throughout the course to ensure that you will have the knowledge, skills and confidence to come out and pursue a career in barbering. For me, the ultimate end goal was to be job ready by the end of the course. 2 weeks before I was due to finish the course, I had been trained and supported by the tutors so well that I was actually able to line myself up with full time work in a busy barber shop in central London, which I started straight after completing the course. Hair For Men Academy had moulded me into everything that I needed to be in order for me to go out there and start a career in Barbering. I'm now 3 months into my new career and I'm having great success. I hope this advice helps anyone thinking to join a course at Hair For Men Academy.

I done the 8 weeks barbering diploma @ Hair for men academy and I must say it was the best experience from start to finish. Paul Guy the academy owner, educators James, Tom and Henry have abundance of barbering experience between them all so you will be in good hands and learn so much in the time you are there. I came with hardly any experience and Im leaving with experience, knowledge and confidence to go out and cut hair without any help. I recommend this academy over the others 101% if you really are interested in pursuing a career in barbering, you will get plenty of haircuts whilst your training so dont worry about that, all haircuts, wet luxury shaves and beard trims are all FREE!! So even if you want to just check the academy out before you start just go in and get a haircut and see for yourselves. When I first started I was nervous but now I can see how far myself and my barbering skills have come. I had the absolute pleasure of attending the hair for men academy for 9 weeks to complete my NVQ level 2 training to become a qualified barber. From day one I was made to feel very welcome by all of the amazing educators teaching the various skills I needed to learn. I was never once made to feel I couldn't ask any questions if I needed to. Each technique was explained as few or as many times as I needed it to in a very honest and instructive way. The atmosphere was brilliant and always fun which made learning so much easier. Whilst I was glad I had passed the course at the end of the 9 weeks I was also sad to leave the great friends I had made there. I finished my level 2&3 qualification in June of this year and it was absolutely brilliant, I didn’t want to leave! Going into it I was really nervous but all the educators were very welcoming and made me feel at ease. I met some great people while doing this course and learnt so much in such a small period of time. Each technique was showed to us multiple times to ensure we got the hang of it. The shop floor itself was a great experience of what a barbershop would be like and we were able to do loads of haircuts on real models! If I could do the course again, I would! I would recommend hair for men to anyone thinking of training to be a barber and to top it all off I managed to get a job in a shop just 2 weeks after completing the course!

I recently spent 11 weeks at the academy, completing my level 2&3 barbering. Upon starting at the academy I had no barbering experience what so ever and I am now, 4 months on, employed at a respectable barbershop in my area all thanks to the skills and knowledge acquired during my time at hair for men academy. They will take you from absolute newbie and train you up to become a competent and complete barber, providing you with a clear understanding of how to cut all hair types, styles and lengths. The tutors themselves are excellent barbers with years of experience between them and this reflects in their teaching methods. The receptionist however, should keep her focus on filing her nails and cabinets instead of making assumptions on what she thinks people can or can’t achieve and leave that down to the professionals; it’s impossible to know students capabilities when you’ve not even left the comfort of your sofa to work for over a year, let alone met them! Aside from this though, the academy is a great place to come and learn the trade of barbering and when you’re not cutting hair there’s lots to do in the area, not to mention the unbelievable night life that’s down there. If I had it my way I would’ve stayed for longer, although I think I may of ended up either dead or bankrupt. I would definitely recommend coming here as it will set you up and give you everything you need to become a quality barber, so long as you work hard and put maximum effort in. There is always the first time and that's exactly my case. I won't lie I was little unsure of what to expect but excited in a very positive way. I'm always happy to help and I believe in a way I have helped. As I tend to stick to long hair haircuts, this has been a good challenge for the young cheerful member of your team who is taking his first steps in the world of hair design. Under a watchful and understanding eye of his coach, he hid a tremendous job and I can't thank him and the whole friendly bunch of future barbers enough :). Have just completed an amazing 11 weeks of an NVQ Level 3 qualification in barbering. What a fantastic experience, a team of extremely knowledgeable educators who ensure you have a “can do “ attitude, you are supported, encouraged and guided each step of the way by everyone and have come away with the confidence to go out and cut hair. Don’t let age be a barrier, at 57, at no point was I made to feel I was too old for a massive change of career either by the team of educators or my peers. One of the best things I’ve ever done (and have made some friends for life too. Those 5 stars? Very well deserved!

I recently completed my NVQ level 2&3 in barbering here at hair for men academy and I would recommend to anyone wanting to get into barbering that you study here! the educators are all so friendly and vary in experience so you learn all different techniques that complete the same outcome, but can choose the way that suits you best! You will learn everything needed to get you shop ready, from how to deal with clients to consultations and of course the cutting itself! No matter on your experience of cutting whether there be any in your past you will leave feeling confident going into a shop! From my experience it was an enjoyable place to learn and the educators make you feel very welcome from the get to! Despite a pandemic slowing the course down and limiting haircuts I still left feeling confident because of the educators teaching so because of that I can safely say no matter how much you struggle they will make you feel confident by the end!The more you put in the more you will get back and I wish the best of luck to Paul and the team in their future!

I have just completed a 9 week NVQ 2 course in barbering at hair for men academy in Shoreditch. I can honestly say that it has been one of the most for filling experiences of my life. The course has allowed me to pick up skills in which I can use across a plethora of haircuts. None of this would have been possible without the educators at the academy. Paul and Debbie have been a pleasure to be around. Both offering their unique style of barbering as an example. Looking back on my first haircut 8 and 1/2 weeks ago I can see a huge improvement in all areas. Cannot recommend Hair For Men Academy enough if you are serious about gaining proper skills. I am a professional Make-Up Artist working in Film & TV, and I attended the Hair for Men Academy for their Fast Track Barber course. The course is perfect if like me, you need a really comprehensive introduction (or refresher) into barbering, but only have limited time to dedicate to it. The course tutors, Paul, Tom and Henry are highly skilled, and really patient and generous with their time and knowledge. Its a highly informative course, with really professional tutors, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would love to attend a longer and more in depth course for barbering in the future, and I'd only attend the Hair For Men Academy to do so, after my experience last week. I can't recommend the course or the tutors highly enough.

Missed the 205 bus and was chasing it down the street when I came across this place. Figured I had some time to burn because the bus was quickly fading into the distance. Came down and got a bald fade from Josh, he did a great job and both him and his instructor were attentive to my haircut and my large head. Good line work and blend. I attended the Hair for Men Academy as a student from September to December 2020 where I completed my NVQ level 2 + 3 in barbering. At the age of 33 I decided to retrain and follow a passion of mine. After speaking with friends in the industry and doing some extensive research, I decided to pay for a place at HFM Academy due to its outstanding reputation, and I was so pleased that I did, as I had a fantastic experience! The best thing about the HFM are the people. During the 3 month course I had the benefit of learning from 4 tutors who all differ in techniques and teaching methods. The variety on offer is so important to produce a well rounded learning experience. The syllabus is very broad and thorough, which means that you leave the academy fully equipped for the shop floor. I felt extremely comfortable and confident in cutting hair after I left the academy albeit a little slow in completing cuts, however I know this will come with practice. I recently had an interview with Headcase Barbers (Fleet) and they were delighted to employ me under the knowledge that I had trained with Paul and the team at HFM Academy. I like to provide constructive criticism where I can, however I don't have any negatives to report on. If you are looking to change careers (like me) or if you're looking to sharpen up on the skills your already have, I seriously recommend HFM. Cool atmosphere, comforting environment, perfect location, amazing people, first class training. Thanks HFM Academy!!

I have just finished my NVQ 2 & 3 at the Hair for Men Academy and what a great experience! Barbering is something I had thought about doing for a long time and finally decided to make the jump at 28 and I’m so glad I did! The only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner! As I was leaving a secured job to change career I did a lot of research on different barbering academies as where I live there wasn’t one locally so I had to travel. I wanted to make sure I felt confident with a variety of haircuts and get the attention to detail in training I needed so when leaving I had the best chance of employment straight away and this course ticked all those boxes! The educators are all so friendly and brilliant at what they do with a vast amount of knowledge and experience between them. I have learnt so many great techniques leaving me confident with a range of different haircuts and the belief to be creative. I've been coming here since mid 2018 and haven't gone back to anyone else (sorry to my old barber) the students are taught to the highest standard when it comes to a London academy. All students that I've had cut my hair 10+ students have cut confidently but you're in safe hands with the educators around that if there may be something they're not 100% on they'll be shown professionally. A great course. A great academy. I wanted to expand my knowledge on angles, sectioning and connecting cuts and all of my questions were answered. All the tutors at Hair for Men Academy are great, they’re so knowledgeable and really care about your learning. After a few days of practicing on a dolly head you’re quickly getting to experience working on real clients. All of the tutors are very supportive and encouraging and walk you through the cuts until you’re able to take the lead yourself. It’s like a little family there and everyone training and the tutors all super encouraging and complimentary making it the perfect environment to learn or develop skills in. The course felt really personal to my own specific learning and seemed to be tailored to each individual person training and the tutors quickly identified where they could develop my skills that would be most useful to me. Great place which is extremely friendly . Iv been in as a customer for a haircut twice and its clean and tidy. Everyone temperature is checked staff wear masks My only negative is they do not offer some of the most common haircuts. For example they do not allow customers to have a foil machine fade for some reason however I find this bizarre as in the real world customers will ask for foil fades. Again not criticising at all just an observation . I have nothing but positive things to say

Official Level 2 barber cannot believe it! Hair For Men Academy has been a great experience after finishing a nine week course. Starting this course I had very little experience at the finish I was fully equipped to go out and find a job within a shop as well as having the confidence within myself. I completed the 5 day Fast Track Barbering course last week and I had a brilliant time! I had the smallest amount of experience with cutting men’s hair but very little confidence. I really enjoyed the week- the atmosphere was lovely, relaxed and professional with all the other students being welcoming and supportive of one another too. We received Paul, Debbie and Erol’s constant guidance and they made our week a really fun one. The best academy in the uk, I started of not having a clue how to cut and within 3 days I was cutting clients hair I done the 9 week nvq course. You receive quality training at a fair price you really are able to go straight into a barber shop after the course confidently. I can’t recommend the Hair for Men Academy in Shoreditch enough. From day one I was made to feel welcome and within three days I was cutting hair. Although it’s an academy, it has a barbershop feel to it and all the tutors are great with many years experience between them. Even though during the course we went into lockdown the academy organised online theory lessons for us to take part in each week, so that when we came back after lockdown we could solely focus on cutting client's hair. I will leave the academy confident in securing my first job in the industry. I was a Student who started in March. From day one the team at Hair For Men where incredibly warm and welcoming and I knew I had chosen the right place for my future career. Even when the pandemic hit and the academy had to close, they ensured to use the time efficiently and continue training us, tackling the theory session of the course via Web meetings, as far as I'm aware the only academy providing such a service. Beyond the pandemic when we were allowed to enter, the support Paul, Tom, Stacey and Henry gave to each and everyone of us to help get us back up to speed was incredible. Plenty of demonstrations as well as one on one advise which was all clear and consise and most importantly easy to understand. The corse allows you to get cutting on real models quickly with all the advice you need, replicating what it feels like to work in a real barber shop. So if you are looking for barbering career and have never picked up a pair of scissors before or if you need refresher corse, no matter your ability, these are the guys for you. I will be sad to leave. I have made great friends who I hope I will remain in contact with for the long future.

I have just completed the 9-week NVQ2 course at Hair for Men Academy and am really sad to have left. I entered the world of barbering blind, after spending many years in advertising. The first few days were quite daunting but the tutors made me feel so relaxed and confident from the start. Paul and Errol are two of the most professional, patient and accommodating people I have ever met. You are made to feel part of an amazing team and more so part of family. I was deciding between Hair for Men and another leading barbering college and I made the correct choice to attend this academy after hearing from other students the horror they went through with the other academy I was considering. Apart from, as I said, being professional, they were extremely creative in what they offered. The students were never short of models to practice on which made it feel like working in actual barber's. If you are looking to do a 1-week course or as I did, change your career by doing the 9-week NVQ2 course, I could not recommend these guys highly enough. I attended the academy for a one week intense course which started Monday of this week and added on a 1 day Cutthroat course that I’ll be attending this Monday. Under the excellent tuition of Paul I was able to come away being confident that barbering was the right choice for me! He taught me everything from long men’s cuts and the different cutting techniques required to give a great hair cut all the way down to how to complete a good skin fade. The course was ‘intense’ and after 3 days I was completing cuts on clients, building up more confidence with every cut I carried out. When working on clients all of the tutors were there to assist with any questions and give that little extra bit of guidance if needed. One of the tutors giving ‘little advice’ through out the course was Erol , showing different techniques that he uses to get the perfect cut and with his support I was able to finish off some nice cuts on clients. The academy is a fun, friendly environment. All of the tutors, especially Paul (Paul I’m sure you’ll read this, I’ll collect that £50 on Monday lol) are an absolute joy to be around. I went in nervous but at the end of the week I felt like I’ve made some amazing friends! I highly recommend anyone looking for a career in barbering use ‘hair for men academy’. Having just completed my Level 2 NVQ in Barbering at the Hair For Men Academy I cannot speak highly enough of the 9 week experience as a whole. On a personal level learning Barbering meant leaving behind another career to which I was super nervous about however after my first week at the Academy I was sure that I had done the right thing. The course consists of a healthy balance of hair cut demonstrations, written theory and most of all, practical.. averaging around 6 hair cuts a day - the Academy is popular and has many returning clients and so you will always be kept busy. The 3 educators Paul, Erol and Will have been great. No question is a silly question.. even if asked multiple times! They allow for you to feel relaxed by providing constant support and guidance and creating a comfortable and professional environment. I also found that the educators teaching style worked for me as they never forcibly took over a hair cut, even if it wasn’t going well. Instead the technique was always re explained and broken down so as I could learn by fixing it myself. Additionally as new students tend to start together I found this encouraged other students to help each other too. Something I think has been a great help in my learning of different techniques and styles to the barbering skill. I am leaving the Academy and starting a full time position in a barbershop right away. Completing this course has allowed for me to gain good knowledge of the barber industry and also to be confident enough to to walk straight into a job. Paul, Erol and Will - Thank you. I’d been looking for somewhere to get a trim back in February and was on a bit of a budget, my friend highly recommended the academy and re assured me they’d look after me as I was a bit apprehensive about going somewhere to be a hair model, id never done it before and didn’t really know what to expect from it all. It’s an incredibly professional institution that clearly takes a lot of pride in the students and their abilities, there was never a moment I felt worried or apprehensive during the cut, the communication was really natural and I could see that the tutors had built a really solid rapport with the guys training there. I did the NVQ L2 and L3 here and loved it. The environment fosters learning and confidence no matter your age or gender. The teachers had a wealth of knowledge to share and went the extra mile to explain and demonstrate barbering techniques. I'd say I did 150- 200 haircuts during the course and they turned out quite nice considering at the beginning I didn't even know how to hold a pair of Clippers! Be prepared to make great friends during the course, both with the instructors and with the other students. Special shout out to Erol- my personal photographer/singing partner, and Paul, Debbie and Will for the instruction, laughs, and good vibes, and Sean who is the heart of Hair for Men. Trust me. I completed my Level 2 and 3 qualification here at HFM. I finished my GCSE’s in June this year knowing I wanted to go straight into barbering and this academy stood out the most and taught me exactly what they said they would. I just completed the 1 week fast track course, and really enjoyed it! Everything was explained so clearly and the educators were very friendly so you could ask any questions you had. They went through everything needed to achieve the different looks and why that technique was used. Once I had learnt the basics of each cut I then got to move onto real clients. After the two days of working on a block head and learning the skills, I felt I knew everything I needed to then work on real clients. The educators were stood by to help and go through the cuts step by step but also let you think for yourself and just helping when needed. As the school is in shoreditch they have a lot of walk in clients as well as regulars who come back for cuts. They were not short of models which is great as it’s a struggle to find that many people to practice on. They also had all the equipment you need for you to use, and can recommend things to get if wanted. I rarely write reviews but after 2 weeks at Hair for Men I couldn't resist. As a barber student I have been to two mainstream academys. I qualified with a level 2 and 3 NVQ qualifcation. Looking for courses is difficult I found, because reviews are mostly biased, which is why making a decison of where to go is difficult. I chose Hair For Men live model 5 day course after 12 weeks in another academy. I had no confidence in myself, and because in other academies educators would worry about time I rarely finished a haircut myself causing utter confusion. When i came to Hair For Men the educators installed confidence in me and gave me clarity to all questions i had with all different learning techniques. which Is why I chose to extend because I felt my understanding was enhanced so mch. In actual fact I felt pure regret for not choosing Hair for Men to do my qualification because their way of teaching and help they provide you with is truly to the T. They do everything in their power to make you understand and beyond, without hesitation. In contrast, in other academys the educator to student is a higher ratio and I felt people got lost in sieve. Just by looking around the Level 2 student were incredibly independant and seemed to have a better understanding of the prime core theory which made them seem very advanced, compared to elsewhere. In addition elsewhere students will be practicing on headblocks for two entire weeks but I noticed here that after two to three days of head block knowledge students were with live clients and ready to go far quicker. The atmosphere of the academy is structured very similiar to an indie barber shop and has a lovely, relaxed vibe. The educators are like friends and each day I felt satisfied and thirsty for more that I am now ready for a job with confidence to produce good work! After bopping around different academys, I would fully recommend coming to Hair For Men, rest assured they will make you an educated, top barber ready to be thrown into the deep end, industry of hair!

I found the course by chance on google as I was looking for a course to kick start my barbering career, so I chose the 5 day fast track barber course. I live in birmingham and couldn’t find anything near me offering what the guys at hair for academy offered, So after speaking to them on the phone and looking through the Instagram account I decided to take the chance and move to London for the week. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made the team at hair for men were very welcoming and made me feel comfortable and at ease and any initial nerves quickly wore off. As the week progressed I couldn’t believe how quickly my own skill set was growing I never imagined to learn so much in a short amount of time and was impressed with the level of support and guidance the teachers gave me through out my time at the academy. The weeks course runs alongside the 9 week NVQ so there were other students further ahead than me who shared there story so far and offered advice, it felt as though we were one team, every body was learning and helping each other out just a very positive atmosphere and the coaches felt more like friends by the end of the week. My time with hair for men was short but sweet my only regret is I couldn’t do the 9 week NVQ as I can only imagine the skill level I would be leaving with but I feel I have had the best kick start to my barbering career possible and hope to rerun to refine my skills at a later date.

Although I learnt an incredible amount in such a short space of time, I would have loved a few more weeks with the guys as the knowledge from the tutors seemed endless! Seven weeks into a nine week barbering NVQ at the London Hair Academy they went into liquidation and I was left unable to finish the course. Distraught my fellow students and I went down the road to Hair for Men academy and they were so helpful and took us in with open arms. I started my NVQ level 2 back in November and I have just finished. I can’t recommend this academy enough due to the high quality of teaching and the amazing atmosphere created by everyone involved, I would like to thank the educators for the endless support in getting me to were I am now, all three of them have got so much knowledge within the field of barbering and they are so keen so share every inch of it. Place is absolutely brilliant. Customer service is exceptional for something that is free. As soon I walked in, I was offered a hot beverage and a biscuit. Sat on the chair for around 10 minutes before the haircut started. Yes it took a while and yes there were some minor blips in the hair cut but I was happy overall. Junior the teacher is a wonderful character to say the least and is very passionate about hair - I love seeing passionate people doing what they do best!

Hair for men. Where to begin? So I recently completed my NVQ lv 2 and lv 3 so now hold the title of "Masterbarber" how cool is that! I've personally learnt a lot over the 11 weeks course and had a great time with it, sad to go to be honest. But will definitely be stopping by to see the guys from time to time! As a young business I think it's great given the competition that is in the local area. It's in the prime location of shoreditch and has a steady flow of both regular and walk-in customers. The tutors are truly amazing not only as teachers but as people, I honestly believe you would struggle to find any better. The classes are small, consisting of both male and female students which is great and around 9 students or more. This is perfect for a more one to one tuition or help when needed. The environment is clean, morden and friendly. So if your looking to advance your career or your a complete novice you can't go wrong here. Just pop in speak to the guys feel the vibe and I'd be surprised if you don't walk out with a smile on your face! 😁

Just finished my fast track course for the week and couldn’t recommend these guys highly enough. From the great salon vibe, the fantastic facilities and of course the great teachers in Erol and Paul. I came into this completely out of the unknown, my comfort zone and wanting a new career change and within a week Erol and Paul and completely installed confidence in me from knowing nothing to doing 5 client haircuts by myself! I booked one day foil fading course my tutor erol is amazing teacher and barber I got what I came for and can now do foil fades learnt in one day just one day I'm confident now doing it on my own want to become a barber ? Hair for men is the only place to go I went to another school in the past they were bad lsb don't go there go to hair for men it's the best. I'll be comeing back for my wet shave course as well as scissor cuts soon .
