Thanks Charlie, I love my hair cut! I showed Charlie a photo of what I wanted and he knew exactly what to do. I'm very happy with the results, I have a new style to play with and my hair feels much healthier. Charlie is professional, friendly and clearly very passionate about what he does - I highly recommend. Rebecca x

Super professional service. Very quick and super happy with the results. I can confidently recommend Charlie. He is a sweetheart and passionate about hair styling. All this in a very competitive price. Easy 5 stars!

This was my fifth time at Hurwundeki and every time I've got exactly the haircut I want. Chris cut my hair this time and he did a great job. He took care and attention and genuinely listened to what I wanted but also gave his advice and expertise as to what would look good. I also like that I don't have to book and can just walk in.
Y. T.
First time here. Switched from long to very short hair a few months ago. Trusted Case (not sure about spelling, sorry!) to cut back again with a bit of a restyle and he did a fantastic job! Will defo be coming back!

I went to get a haircut after lockdown and had such a great experience and I was so happy with the result!! My hairdressers name was Charlie and he really listened to me and put the effort to understand exactly what I wanted. I absolutely loved my hair by the end and was seriously one of the best cuts I’ve ever had so will definitely stay loyal customer with Charlie.
T. M.
Always get a good cut here. Friendly, efficient, and really good haircuts, especially for the price. Have seen a few different stylists over the years and each one did a really good job. Highly recommend!
A. M.
Walked in for a hair cut and Charlie did wonders - he is incredible. It's truly the best, the most efficient haircut I ever had. He did exactly what I wanted without me even needing to say.
C. B.
I am really particular with my hair and I love this team - never have a met a hairdresser that knows so much about hair then this guy. Never going anywhere else again :)
R. B.
Had a great haircut with Charlie today. Love this place, been coming here for years! Quick, reliable, unpretentious.
T. K.
These guys are absolutely amazing. I come here regularly for myself and they are also excellent with my kids' hair. Talented, friendly, attentive and skilled, all amazingly good value. I recommend to everyone and so many people I know come here and never go anywhere else ever again. Best team in town!

I had my hair cut by the business's owner, Ki, at the salon next to Cambridge Heath Road station. It was £60 (for "women" which I'm guessing means long hair) and I booked in advance via email. They take cash or card.
When making the booking, they direct you to the website for instructions on how best to keep you and your stylist safe during the pandemic and request that you wear a mask (if you're able) and that you wash your hair in advance. I did both and washed my hands in the sink provided when I arrived. Note that when I arrived at the salon they did offer to wash my hair if I wanted so if you really can't do this yourself, they will do it for you – they just prefer not to have to put you and themselves at unnecessary risk if possible.
Ki is an excellent stylist, I never give him any instruction other than rough length and I'm always very pleased with my cuts. They also grow out really well, he divides the sections up in a way that suits your head shape, he's tried to explain it to me before and I don't understand it but it works. Ki is a super interesting person as well as a meticulous hair stylist and I highly recommend booking direct with him if you can afford it, otherwise the walk-in slots are much cheaper and quicker.

Brilliant local cafe / shared working space by Cambridge Heath Station in Bethnal Green!
Also doubles / triples as a Korean restaurant for lunch and a barber where you buy haircuts in 15 minute increments...
Really friendly staff and great food - the bibimbap is just awesome!!

I visited a Hair Salon + Coffee Shop when I studied in Sheffield, but this time in hackney (the hipster area in London) I discovered a “secret and creative space”, which was renovated recently and was transformed to “Hair Salon+ Tea House+ Vintage Shop”, a place for a lazy afternoon or just a break at noon.
HURWUNDEKI
Category: Hair Salon+ Tea House+ Vintage Shop
WIFI: Free to use (need to ask for a code)
Seating: There are a small garden in the front, with 4-5 tables and 2-3 chairs each table. In the tea room, there are many tables and chairs or armchairs around.
Ambience: There is so much to see and explore, just overwhelming. Hand-selected Korean Fashion pieces, collectibles, and chinaware fill the wall, shelves, and tables. It seems like you walk straight into a time machine and woken up in the “70s with a combination of western and eastern styles”. Even you just take a seat by the glass window and drink a fruit/flower tea (I like Sensational Bora Bora Fruit Blend), with the cheerful flowers around, quiet and peaceful, you will refuel your soul. The staff is super friendly and don’t mind I walk around and stay longer, and longer…
Cost: Tea £2.8 (A variety of Black Tea, Green Tea, Fruit Tea, and Herbal & Rooibos Tea)
Coffee & Hot Chocolate £2-£3
Cakes & Snacks £1.9-£3.5
Finger Sandwiches £2.5
A simple afternoon tea for two, with the selection of Scones, cakes, finger sandwiches £5.5-£12.5
Hair £39 Men, £45 Women
Something Special about the store:
(1) A mixture of hairdressing, tea room and vintage shop, actually in the past, they even provide Korean food (the owner is a Korean), very cool concept;
(2) They just renovated the layout inside with transforming the hairdressing seats to vintage products displaying counters, and there are still mirrors on the wall, a little eccentric but creative.
Problems:
(1) Sometimes too much is not a good thing, there are so many stuff around, which make your eyes busy, definitely, not distraction-free, it is not a place for remote working.
(2) Indeed, they provide lots of tables, chairs, armchairs and sofas inside, but very random and the space is narrow, you may feel uncomfortable to sit inside and enjoy your tea of coffee.

I am so happy about my haircut. I did a walk-in and just love the concept of the Cambridge Heath store, quick and easy, not expensive. Nothing I’ve seen before for women and I appreciate it a lot!

Hurwundeki is a must go to if you want consistently spot on haircuts. I sit down, have an idea of what I want and they are able to advise me on what best to get done. I always see Kris myself and have never been disappointed. If you do have to wait, it's worth it and there are plenty of coffee shops nearby.
R. S.
Have been going hurwundeki for my haircut for a few years now. Kris cuts my hair and his attention to detail, expertise in his craft and the good chat all makes for a great experience. And for 15£ you'd be hard pressed to find a salon quality haircut at this price in London. There is a Korean influenced approach to their cuts which I think sets them apart from the usual bearded hipster barber
A. P.
I've been introduced to this hairdresser by my girlfriend that she is used to going there for ages and I have to say it's one of the best I've tried so far. The quality/price is amazing and all the guys are very professional and nice. Every time they have done a great job! Really recommend it if you want to try a professional and friendly hairdresser :)
S. C.
I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to having a hair cut having had loads of bad experiences but my hairdresser moved back to Finland so I thought I'd try Hurwundeki. It's close and the price suits me right now plus I really needed a cut!
I found everyone to be lovely and welcoming, I wasn't expecting high end quality cutting simply because of the price. The young guy who washed and cut my hair did a really lovely job I thought it was finished and then another guy I believe to be Ki came over and said he would finish and he is truly magic. Very experienced with hair and a clear passion, he made the cut come alive I'm super happy and will be back regularly. Thankyou so much 🙏🏻
M. P.
Interesting space including a Korean restaurant, a café and a barber. Loved the vibe, so will be coming back to try their Korean recipes.
W. T.
Speedy response from the owner regarding enquiries. I always come back to this place even though I moved to Surrey. Chris is the go to person for me at this place. They know how to do my hair properly!
M. T.
Nice staff, great salon... definitely go back. I don't understand why some give bad score, maybe because they are interested...
W. Y.
The food I ordered with my friends here was very good for the reasonable price we paid. I ordered the bibimbap which was absolutely delicious and was a very filling portion size. The waitress that served us was very friendly. The atmosphere of the place is very chilled and relaxed, the decor is very vintage with a homely feel to the place.
K. P.
I regularly have my hair cut here with Krisz who always works wonders with graphic short hair styles using creative techniques. The relaxed and welcoming atmosphere of the boutique salon makes it a pleasure.
M. V.
Have been coming here for years and never had a bad haircut, still travel from South East to come here. Friendly and quick service, always recommend to anyone who asks for a barbers
S. B.
I've been going to Hurwundeki for years and it's really the best salon I have found in East London. It's simple to drop by and add your name to the board and waiting times are quick, but they give me a really good cut each time which is THE reason why I keep going back. Hurwundeki is an amazing addition to Bethnal Green/Hackney. Kris is great.
J. G.
Price was good and no appointment needed for it. It’s much more expensive if you book an appointment time. Although the cut for my daughter was fine, he took off a good two / three inches more than we requested. So a mixed review really.
L. H.
Having frequented the Brick Lane branch, I did not think the service could get any better!
I had the pleasure of getting my haircut by Levi, she was incredibly focussed, precise and gave me helpful advice - not something I've had the fortune of experiencing before. Will definitely be back!
J. B.
I asked someone in the street where she had had her hair cut as she had similar straight short fine hair like mine and she recommended this place. Haven't looked back and loads of my friends go. Super quick and a good sharp hair cut that grows out well. Lastly very affordable.
N. C.
So happy with my experience here. I would definitely recommend ! The hairdresser was precise and took their time which I really appreciated. My new go to place for trims. Thank you so much for everything :)
K. W.
So happy with my Cut. Charlie is an incredible stylist and barber. He is also able to do all hair types including afro-caribbean. Thank you!
C. K.
Love this place and concept. You pay a flat fee for a quick haircut, no appointments necessary you just turn up and put your name on the blackboard and wait. The wait is never very long and the service always quick, efficient and with great results. Highly recommended for a quick, no fuss, maintenance haircut!
S. P.
Love this place! I have a short haircut and they know their stuff. Perfectly cut with no mistakes. Been going for about a year now. Honeslty it's super affordable and really cool hip place to get a haircut. SO WORTH IT!
B. F.
I've got my hair cut here for a few years. Always had a good cut here and when I had my very long hair chopped off. They donated the hair to a charity that makes wigs for women undergoing cancer treatment. I thought that was pretty cool.
R. Z.
Best haircut I have ever had in all of my life. Mr. Ki is a real artist, he doesn't talk much but he gets it right. He is not for everyone. My girlfriend says the same, we'll absolutely come back again and we'll come back here for sure!
A. T.
I got a great haircut as a walk-in, exactly how I wanted for only £33. The people who complain here should recognise that this place gives good and inexpensive haircuts, but doesn’t give all the extra pointless frills - the towels don’t match and nobody asks you where you are going on holidays.
They also had a chihuahua!
S. D.
Best haircut I’ve had in the area (I should know I’ve tried them all!) Keino was brilliant he did my haircut in exactly the right way - he must be telepathic ! I went up the smaller salon on the corner of Hackney Road but he is usually at the larger branch down the road where there is also a cafe.
H. B.
New haircut experience which was very positive. Chris took time to understand the hair, asked requirements and then cut accordingly. Very quick, in and out in less than 20 mins - no nonsense excellence!
M. C.
Finally a hair stylist who took control of my hair and totally created a new look! Colour is amazing and finally my thin hair has life! Amy was fab and I can't recommend her enough!! I'm so happy it's led me to write my first Google review!
N.
Had a fantastic cut from Charlie this week. Funny and friendly and actually listened to what I wanted. Would recommend him and will be back.
E. G.
For years I dreaded the hairdresser, mainly because of the excruciating pain of being asked about my weekend or holiday plans in a dreary, half-bored northern accent while shackled to a chair. If you have ever wanted a perfect haircut in peaceful silence, for the price of a dinner, try Hurwundeki. I only wish there was a Hurwundeki dentist too.
F. C.
A great haircut for a very reasonable price... The stuff is lovely and they take care of you way more than in other more "famous" and pricey places... Worthy a visit...
A. C.
Big fan. Great cuts, affordable prices and friendly enough staff. Better than going to a basic city 'fade' barber. HWDK actually pay attention to detail.
8/10 for me and would recommend.
T. P.
Had a great first experience. Wasn't sure what to expect from an £18 haircut, as a woman with long and thick hair, the stylist did a perfect job! Very happy, will go back, would recommend!
R.
Just got my hair done here for the 3rd time. Really pleased with it as with previous times. Lovely staff and great value!
S. L.
The place is not excellent or poor.
They have many hairdressers that change all the time and depending on your luck(which person you go to) , you get either a good haircut or a 'what is this?!'.
Price is very fair though, can't complain about that.
D. W.
Come for the noodles, stay for the haircut. Cheap and cheerful.
J. T.
Kee Lee is amazing. I have been cutting my hair with him for years and I always get compliments from my friends! I always recommend him and my friends always go back.
M. M.
Seems I just found a place where to come back to... :) Quick, not expensive, great result. You just pop in and wait your turn (not long) - the only way I can do hair cut being a mom of young baby and toddler
s. n.
This place is my only to go place for getting a haircut as they always get it right.my hairdresser Amy in particular has always does an amazing job, I would not go anywhere else for a haircut .100% recommned.
E. W.
Great place to get a quick and cheap haircut. Just turn up and put your name on a board for the next available stylist. Been going for years and almost every time it's been great. People giving it 1* should probably spend more than £20 on a haircut in Central London.
K. S.
Ive only had good haircuts here and it's especially good given its relatively cheap and you can just turn up on the day
D. B.
The hairdresser and restaurant are actually 2 different places, it's not what I expected. The cut itself was good (thank you Russian lady!), it really took only 15 mins!
J. H.
Great cheap haircuts, nice food and amazing coffee. Such an interesting concept. Been going for years now and I can't see that ending!
F.
Charlie is now my regular here and is so so talented! I always get so many compliments on my hair after he’s worked his magic! Xx
U. A. (.
Went there for dinner. The food is average. Starters were better. Some dishes better than other. However the service is not that great and doesn't make you feel very welcome and in someways puts you off from recommending.
P. K.
Brilliant service ,brilliant staff and brilliant salon.
F. N.
Excellent service! Didn't expect such luxurious results with so little money. The haircut was awesome! Definitely gonna go there again! Highly recommended!
N. B.
One dude who cuts the hair, with a gaggle of young girls who I guess are the trainees. They don't really do much except for sit on their phones, gossip, and wash hair. The Japanese hairdresser is good though, and the price is reasonable.
S. K.
£20 for a haircut, no complaints. Fast and easy trim of my hair, straight and as expected. Wasn't expecting any thrills based on how the company run and it was perfect
T. H. T.
Reviews are a mixed bag here, so I was apprehensive, but my first visit was great — forgot to get the name of my hairdresser (beret, earring), but he was lovely, asked me what I liked, made suggestions, set me at ease, and gave me exactly what I wanted. Turned out way better than I expected, and the cut wasn't rushed at all despite the 15-minute branding, and though I was his last customer before his lunch. Fantastic for £13.
Things to note: CASH and walk-ins ONLY, you have to go through a boutique (on the right) and up the stairs to get to the salon, and write your name in chalk on the board (blue for men, pink for women) to get on the wait list.
R. W.
One of the best haircuts I've had and certainly the cheapest in central London.. won't be going anywhere else. Have visited the restaurant a few times though not for a while - always been impressed by the food and great value esp with the BYO policy on drinks.
C. T.
Haven't had a haircut here but love the food and weird little space. Great bibimbap. It's also BYOB.
D. L.
The most amazing haircut! Unfortunately I didn’t ask for her name, but I had a really nice girl cut my hair yesterday. When she saw how thick my hair was, she asked if I was in a rush and then proceeded to give me the most thoughtful and skilled haircut I’ve received in years. All for £18. Insane. I’m so stoked. Will definitely be coming back.
P. M.
I’ve been going here for donkey’s years and the combo of good style and cheap price cannot be beat. Ask for Chris. He told me to write that but still, it’s true
m.
Highly recommended! Very nice staff. I got a really good haircut
S. G.
I am ever so pleased with the overall experience! God knows how bad my hair was entering the salon...but I am glad to say my hair is now happy and healthy! I had my hair cut by Ki (the director) and he gave me useful advice for hair care and made me laugh so much. The salon it’s self is beautifully maintained and a good selection of music.
J. K.
Great haircuts every time, quick service and a decent price!
n. i.
This is the 3th time that I had a haircut here. Today I have a haircut with a lovely female hairdresser. She is nice. I suggest to have a haircut at weekday before 12. Only 18 pounds was paid for dry cut. It's not bad as previous comments.
I. S.
The best cut I've had in a salon for a while ask for Lucy!!! Quiet salon, strange atmosphere the first couple of times I went but very affordable and great cuts
C. B.
Best walk-in hair cut in London! And cheap and fast, no nonsense, no fuss but great cut
L. M.
Really tasty food. Great value for money, especially given the size of the portions! Lovely staff and really cool quirky interior! Loved it!
M. Z.
Great food, haircut quality varies - better for a simple upkeep than a hairstyle change.
C. S.
I am happy going here for a haircut. I usually hate going to the barbers and this place has a system that I can appreciate. Not a bad price too. My wife and my girlfriend go here as well!
L. O.
The only place in London that knows how to cut curly hair properly. I struggled for years 'til I found this place. A very good hair cut. No you don't get 'the fancy bits' of getting it washed and having a long chat about where you're going on your holiday, but that's not important. If it is, you can pay three times as much elsewhere for the pleasure.
C. H.
Haircut for ladies can be hit and miss but at the price and convenience its great!
Food is lovely and the coffee is not too bad as well - they are not the best at soy but cant hold that against them as everything else is great!
P. C.
This place is the roulette wheel of hairdressers. Sometimes you get a great haircut for the price but you run the risk of it being butchered by inexperienced staff Seemingly Ki will hire anyone these days. Good tip is be really specific with what you want and guide them through it.
D. K.
Been getting my hair cuts at this chain for the last three years, the small shop across the road was the original one. On the whole the staff are nice, in the early days had my hair cut by the owner once or twice. He is a bit abrupt and lacks some emotional intelligence but does a good job. I've always been happy with the haircuts I've received. Trendy and fashionable at a great price. The quality has gone down in the last 12 months but still much better than it's competitors in the area. A year ago I would have given them 5 Stars.
J. H.
Very happy with first haircut here. I'm quite particular but the guy (Jimmy) got it spot on. Decent price too.
D. C.
Great hair cut for good price! Really impressed.
S. C.
So, quick, no fuss, Charlie cut my hair exactly how I wanted. It was perfect for me. I will 100% be coming back!
A. M.
Went for lunch. Tasty food, served quickly with generous portions. Service is bare-bones but that's part of the appeal. Unfortunately it's cash only which is a pain.
J. W.
The weirdest the name, the better coffee.
The atmosphere here is really something special. I love how quiet and peaceful it is, practically you feel like you are home.
I can spend here the whole afternoon and enjoy my something to drink. I swear I never tried coffee like this in town and trust me, I've tried a lot of coffee.
The staff is lovely and super friendly. They don't mind how much time I spend here and sometimes we talk about life stuff.
This is the place to go for a dose of nice little coffee at lazy afternoons.
R. B.
Delicious food, friendly service, good value and decent music. Had the spicy tofu stew and the hot bulgogi, which were both excellent. Bonus points for BYOB!
H. J.
We had a meal here just last Tuesday and were impressed by the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the food and the speed at which our meal arrived at our table. It was probably the cheapest meal out we've had in ages and will certainly be going back for more.
R. K.
Chris was fantastic, amazing haircut. I will be back soon
H. N.
If you are looking for the best coffee place in Bethnal Green - this is the right one. The prices are reasonable and lower compared to the coffee chains around. I can also say the service is slow, but the food and coffee are great.
B. m.
My hair is very difficult to cut and I wouldn't let anyone other than Kris cut it. Best I've had in London and super cheap.
J. H.
Very nice salon. Haircut is great here.
M. S.
Service is a bit random in that some stylists are better than others so it's very much luck of the drawer. Decent price tho so can't argue in London.
J. B.
Best hairdressers in the area. Great staff and speedy
M. S.
Rude service; good food. Tried to reserve a table for the evening and was told not to even try to turn up speculatively. Turned up to find the place half-empty, was seated, but hurried by rude head waiter who told me that if we didn't get our order in before a nearby table "then it wasn't happening." That table of people hadn't yet arrived and we were rushed into ordering before our full complement of people had arrived. We were then rushed out the door whilst, still, there were empty tables of a comparable size elsewhere in the restaurant. Good bibimbap, but given that London is full of other options I'd rather go somewhere where I feel welcome!
J. H.
A firm favourite of our family. The food is delicious and fresh, the staff are really pleasant and the coffee was also very tasty
B. R.
Had a fantastic haircut from Ludmila - listened very attentively and ensured I was happy with the cut at various stages. Thanks!
L. D.
Go to this place!. Cool vibes. Fashionable cuts. Fast service with a smile. What more do you want?
E. C.
Nice and quick, no nonsense hair cut. Basically how a haircut should be
G. V.
I give 5 star because of service Carlos from reception, (forgot the name) the lovely russian hairdresser lady and the malaysian guy working there. Excellent for the price
A. M.
Been to the drop-in shop on Cambridge Heath Road. I quite like the no-frills- in-and-out concept and that I do not have to make small talk with the stylist. And the cut is ok. But even at the discount price I think sweeping the floor in-between customers should be possible! Peoples cut-off hair piles up on the floor, on the tables, chairs - literally everywhere! It is rather disgusting! Also I still do not understand why women still have to pay more than men. They allocate 12min for men and 20min for women. But today all the blokes around me with their perfect East London hipster cuts took definitely longer than me.
E. H.
Always come here for my hair and always leave happy
M. F.
Amazing cuts and great and speedy service. Go for Kris if you can. He‘s a force of nature and knows his stuff. Also great chats
B. N.
Really love the food here. Prices seemed to have risen slightly recently but still great value, especially at lunch or if you BYOB. Must have visited 6 or 7 times and never been disappointed. The kimchi is lovely and the pork gubolgi (?) is very tasty! The interior is great but sitting outside can be a little uncomfortable. Sometimes the plates arrive staggered which can be a bit frustrating. All in all a firm recommendation. It seems as though the cafe could do itself a favour by registering separately on google, judging by the review for the salon.
M. P.
Affordable, quick and good hair cut. Also good opening times
G.
cracking haircut off oli. great service and decent price
S. J.
Go to spot for a trim - 15 mins mens cut is reasonably priced, speedy and ki is the man!
b. j.
Great haircut I got from kris, very pleased with what he produced. I see you again in 4weeks time. My man.
D.
Great Korean food under the tracks in a trendy seeing. Great food and fairly cheap
V. A. M.
Got a haircut from Ollie, really good haircut and great conversation. Really friendly atmosphere :).
A. G.
Very convenient but the prices for hair cut are to high.
M. M.
This place is great. Affordable, no frills legit haircut! Will absolutely be back!
J. B.
Great value haircuts, great food, cool interior.
K. I.
This place is great, been going for years
Ignore the negative comments - they’re probs basic
M.
Great value for money! I was lucky to get a cut by the director and I definitely love it! Will be back with family and friends! Thanks!
s. s.
amazing organic color. beautiful place. good price. will be back.
E. N.
One word...amazing!Great atmosphere ,talented staff and a great price cheers guys
M.
The owner gave me a great perm.
F. F.
Gong here as a regular, consistently getting great haircuts 🤙🏻

I've passed Hurwundeki Cafe loads of times and always thought it looked super cool, and not just because it is a cafe cum hairdressers. The outside area is very rundown-chic, with old children's toys, but it works considering the hipster location (Hackney Road/Cambridge Heath). I had the toast and jam which I was impressed with, and my flat white coffee was really good. I'll definitely be back.
G. L. P.
Hurwundeki brings together bibimbaps and barnet sprucing in Bethnal Green - as you do. Just next to Cambridge Heath Station, with a touch of a trompe l'oeil exterior; what appears to be an 'opportunistic garden centre chic' style palette is in fact a charming little Korean café and hairdressers.
The inside boasts a familiar East London interior checklist with exposed brick walls, regally mounted animal heads, top hats and eclectic vintage item menageries. This continues through the café to the hairdressers, where the queue for a getting your tresses fixed up had been thriving all morning by the time we visited. Those sipping coffee pre hair cut or tucking into brunch and an early udon noodle are as eclectic as the wall hangings. Let's deal with this one bit at a time, efficiently:
On the Saturday GLP headed down the Korean café was serving up all day brekkies, with their lunch menu kicking off from 12 for those ready for some fresh, home cooked and reasonably priced Korean fare. They keep things organic and traditional with a signature bimbimap bowl of flavoursome joy and Jeon; Korean pancakes stuffed with vegetables that commandeer the official texture of what can only be described as a crispy pillow. A meal deal runs in the day, which sees your hard earned ten pounds rewarded with a main, side and roasted seaweed. Do dabble in some Korean fruit teas for a surprise sweet, immune system kicker - with Chinese quince heading up the gang. In the evening you can switch the tea for a tipple of your own tasting as it's BYOB, with no corkage charge.
On to the hair side of the equation: if you fancy a quick trim pre dumpling, that's also on the menu. Set away from the café, the salon is led by Ki, a hairdresser for over 20 years and, for the past 8 months him and his team have been trimming, shaving, overhauling and transforming locals' locks for an equally reasonable £9 for guys and £14 for the ladies.
They are out to please and with good food and good hair days it's the best looking offer in Bethnal Green.
D. F.
Consistently some of the best coffee in London, and way better than most so-called specialty coffee houses
K. L.
Everyone needs cheap haircuts and Korean food, so Hurwundeki takes the prize by smashing those two things into one hipster package underneath the tunnel spaces along Cambridge Heath.
Before you start squawking about not wanting hair in your bibimbap, Hurwundeki is a split salon and restaurant, connected by a bisecting door and wall. That said, the staff are happy to have you order food and serve it piping hot after your snazzy 'do is coiffed.
£9 gets you a men's cut, and £14 for the ladies. More elaborate stylings will cost you £2 for every five minutes of complexity, but I haven't seen anyone charged for more than the baseline yet. PRO TIP: Come early in the morning for a cut and you won't wait more than five minutes.
The food is solid Korean eats, and I'm a big fan of their tteokbokki, which are soft rice cakes cooked in a luscious spicy sauce with scallions and big slices of fish cake. For mains, you can't go wrong with their bibimbaps (rice in a hot stone bowl with a variety of colorful toppings) and sundubu-jiggae (spicy tofu soup perfect for a rainy day). I'd avoid the mandu (dumplings) since they're quite tiny even if homemade and delicious.
Free and fast wi-fi is available, and the variety of seating both inside and out makes for a great place to study, write, and people-watch.

I have been getting my haircut by Marley D Hunt at this wonderful place for the last 2 years. Every time I have a haircut I leave with great quality and this is due to the fact that he strikes for perfection. Over the past few years I have felt nothing but satisfied and most importantly comfortable with Marleys work. He continuously will ask if I like the haircut(which gives me ownership) and will not let me leave until it's at its best. Such amazing value for money in 15 mins. I strongly recommend this place and all that work there, but my personal taste and style comes from the skills of Marley.

I highly recommend Lucy at Hurwundeki close to Bethnal Green. She is a highly accomplished, skilled hairdresser. She seems able to quietly understand what you want and execute. I feel very lucky to know about her... thank you Lucy and Hurwundeki

Cheap and well-located for a hairdressers. Occasionally the haircuts aren't that great, as the staff have strict time targets and can rush.

Very good value for money with the haircut at £29

Limited menu but good food. Had 1) seafood pancake which was large, light, and crispy. The octopus was very small but seemed fresh 2) bibimbap which was a little light on the bulgogi but solid 3) fried chicken with chilli sauce which was fairly solid, although the place south of elephant and castle was crispier and Judy Joo's place was tastier 4) some kim chi which seemed standard if a bit sweet. The decoration of the place was funky and interesting that they had a espresso shop and hair dresser in the same premises. The waiter was may E. European and nice. The people cooking seemed to be late middle age Koreans. The clientele were mostly hipsters.

Hurwundeki is a unique Korean establishment, combining a cafe/restaurant unusually with a hairdressers. Though unconventional, they do it perfectly. Great value haircuts at £9 for Men and £15 for Women are just the start for this place. Traditional Korean dishes are served throughout the day for very fair prices. The lunch deal of starter, main and drink for £10 particularly wet our appetite.
