Nice people in a really cozy place! I've been using their services for more than a year now. Always welcoming, greeting you with smile and a drink. They even have an amazing coffee machine. You can drop by for a coffee 🙂 The first visit I had, I needed a change and I've got it. A good haircut makes a big difference! Always getting advises from John or the others. With few exceptions I have always booked my visits with John and I've had a great time. After visiting many different barbershops I'm happy that I've found my place. I've been recommending the place and will continue to recommend it. And you should give it a try. It's worth it!

I've used Ruffians Covent Garden and Shoreditch for a couple of years, and both are as good as it gets! The whole team are as talented as they are friendly, and the vibe in the shop is always so relaxing. Cal's been my barber for a while and at this point I'd trust him with my life - can't recommend him enough for a great chat and creative scissor cut! Overall it's quite expensive, but you absolutely get what you pay for. (Even the coffee is top tier!)

Let me tell you the story of the mother-in-law with incredibly high standards and the haircut miracle… I guess the story speaks for itself. Cal and team are the only ones again and again who do a haircut that impresses not only myself, but family as well. Fancy haircuts are hard to actually be happy with, but the combination of the service, the quality of cut, and the understanding of your hair’s health make ruffians stand out. I had tried I think every barber under the sun and this is the only one I can say is worth regular visits! Also, the dogs that come through are so cute!

I turned up for my appointment slightly apprehensive knowing it was a free haircut from one of the trainees at Ruffians and I was a little skeptical if they could do Afro hair to the same standards I was used to. I was really surprised at the level of skill, attention to detail and most of all, the great experience. Fantastic barbershop experience during my visit to Ruffians today. My barber Sirak was extremely professional throughout my wet shave. Thoroughly impressed with the skill and attention paid to how my skin was responding to the cut-throat razor strokes. It produced one of the best wet shaves I've ever had. Not the slightest stinging or feel of irritation after it. Just a smooth and relaxed face !! The shop has a good relaxing atmosphere and is extremely well run. I am yet to get my hair cut here, but I’ve popped in to pick up hair products on a few occasions and the staff have always gone out of their way to be amazingly helpful and friendly. Update: on a second visit I can confirm the staff are not just helpful, they’re some of the friendliest, most charming, welcoming people I’ve come across in a London establishment! One of many to follow Cal to Covent Garden Ruffians. I always felt like Shoreditch was a bit too cool for me, but felt right at home at the Covent Garden barbershop. The atmosphere and set up at Shoreditch was first class, so I didn’t know what to expect at Covent Garden. But it’s absolutely the same great ruffians experience. Having previously been a customer at the Shoredith store I moved over with Callum as he always does a nice job with a fade and general haircare advice! The Covent Garden store is great. Warm welcome, Taking my coat and grabbing a beer for me and having a chat while I wait for Callum to clean his chair and workstation. Cal has been cutting my hair at the Shoreditch branch for the past 3 years and I had a brief panic when I couldn't book Cal at Shoreditch branch. That was short lived when I found he was available at Covent Garden. I couldn't let anyone else near my barnet after a 4-month lockdown... He is a master barber! I've visited the Covent Garden branch previously (Jake gives an outstanding beard trim) and it has a great vibe. They have recently installed an espresso bar at the front of the shop, which is a nice touch and gives a really good espresso (I'll need to take a note of the beans next time I'm in). Great way to start a weekend. I had tried a few barbers in London before I stumbled upon Ruffians. These guys are head and shoulders above their competitors.

Going to Ruffians to get my haircut has been one of the best grooming decisions I’ve made and Matt is by far the best barber I’ve ever had, he’s absolutely fantastic! After my first haircut with Matt a couple of years ago, I was left so impressed with his work that since that appointment I've booked another appointment with him every 4 weeks and have been doing so for 2 years now! He does a great job each and every time and listens to what I want and recommends what’s best. The whole experience is very relaxing - from being warmly greeted and offered a drink, followed by a great haircut, wash with a relaxing head massage, followed by a precise beard trim and tidy. After visiting Matt, I’ve always received compliments on my hair and he’s always been able to consistently recreate the look each and every time without fail. I could not recommend him more highly!

Every barber is of an outstanding standard but I can only rate Jake as he's the only guy that's cut my hair since going. Grab a beer, have a great chat and enjoy the experience of a quality cut in covent garden. Don't be put of by the price, you most certainly get your moneys worth and you'll kick yourself for not seeing a quality barber before now. The margain in a cheap barbers and Ruffians is miles apart.

I started going to Ruffians soon after it opened and discovered the barber trained at the local village barber shop I had been visiting for the last 20 odd years. I briefly stopped going to Ruffians after he moved, out of loyalty, but realised it was the whole experience that I really missed and enjoyed, not just the barber. I have never had a bad experience or haircut/beard trim here. The atmosphere, customer service and experience is excellent. My new barber Linda takes her time, gives expert advice and always puts me at ease, so much so that going here is something I actively look forward to in order to cheer me up. I got married last summer and they opened up specially early on a Sunday to ensure that me and my grooms party could prepare for the big day. It was the perfect start to the whole wedding for me, they made everything special and nothing was too much of a bother. As said, the actual hair cut is first rate, but it is the people and the whole experience that really does make this a 5 star establishment.

After planning several months for a trip from to the UK from the US and researching the best barbers in London I decided Ruffians was the first place I wanted to go and the first thing I did was schedule an appointment for the morning of the 27th of December 2018. When I arived at Ruffians with my partner they took my coat and offered me a drink, but didn’t take my partners coat or offer him anything. To be fair I was the one getting the haircut not my partner. Although I’d scheduled an appointment with Ashley he never showed up and Holly ended up cutting my hair. I didn’t really know what I wanted so Holly made some suggestions on what would work best with my face shape and amount of daily effort I wanted to put into styling my hair. Holly was genuinely friendly, knowledgeable and an absolute pro. She gave some great insights, I left felling confident, content and even purchased some product. I also got a facial from another barber and the product was great, but the interaction felt more like visit to the doctor compared to the haircut. I’d still recommend the service because it’s affordable and refreshing. The location and atmosphere were both great and even though I didn’t feel as out of place or uncomfortable as I thought I might.

They were fully booked and I had a major panic, but Betty managed to pull off the most incredible cut; Stylish, Practical and within 30 minutes. Welcomed me with the nicest smile as soon as I walked in and made sure I was comfortable with a nice drink of my choice and a nice coversation. Everyone was professional on many aspects such as quickly changing the barber in regards to what kind of cut I want and figuring out which barber does it the best in regards to the specific cut. The cut was amazing and very quick yet neatly done. One thing I have to say is that not like the majority, I have a very thick Japanese hair which is not fun when getting them into my shirt, therefore I was itching the whole day, yet that is not at all the barber's fault, however it would even make the already best experience the best of the best if Ruffians keep that in mind next time. Overall it was the best barber I have ever been to.

The barber I'd using since I started working in London was getting pricer and his lack of booking service meant I was now waiting for an hour for a 45 minute hair cut. Time to move on. Enter Ruffians. I was recommended this place by a friend and after reading the reviews and site, I tentatively decided to give it a go. I got to book an appointment in advance with the friendly staff. When I arrived, I was given a comfy seat and a beer and the hair cutting chap sat down and, after a few pleasantries, asked me how I wanted my hair cut. This guy seemed to be very knowledgeable about hair cutting which was off putting as I don't really think about how I am getting my hair cut - I just point to it and say "shorter". Luckily the fellow seemed to know my type and asked if there was anything I didn't want. I said "no, just don't make me look weird". The cut was as good as I could have asked for, the guy was professional and friendly, the service wasn't awkward or forced and I left a happy customer. I've already booked an appointment to get another cut. Definitely worth a recommendation if, like me, you're the barber type, but are now forced to go see "hairdressers" through lack of other options.

Went for a hair cut and beard trim with Ashley Johnson. I thought ruffians might be one of those super trendy places that makes you feel uncomfortable. I was totally wrong, from the moment you walk in you are greated with warmth, coat taken and immediately offered a drink, first thing you notice is the nice relaxed atmosphere, and its a cool place to wait in, I was 10 mins early but seen more or less straight away. Ashley was so friendly and totally knew what he was doing and made perfect suggestions, he did the best cut I’ve ever had, and a perfect beard trim. I’ll be back for sure and sorry I wasted years a my local salon.

Ruffians is an amazing place for a wind down after work, with a inviting and inspired space. I was sat down with a drink and introduced to Tod who is awesome. I left all haircut/barber anxiety at the door. Tod was so friendly and so helpful with advice about cuts and products, and really made the experience for me. I was offered a hot towel and aftershave which was spot on as I was heading back afterwards for work drinks. He was able to offer sound recommendations for my head shape and hair type. It is expensive, but for living in Central London - you get what you pay for. The location is central, the cut is excellent and attention to detail is second to none. It can sometimes be hard to get an appointment so expect a couple of days lead time. They have a front facing hair wash which is interesting to experience. They serve nice drinks while you wait, that said - they are always extremely punctual with your appointment. Service is precise and friendly.

Wasn't planning to get a snip when I visited London but when I saw Ruffians in Covent Garden I looked online at reviews and couldn't resist. I got my last haircut with skin fade on Tuesday 6th by the legendary Lukino. Never have I had a haircut lasting me more than 3weeks but most important: having people complimenting and asking where I got it cut? Nothing which I have ever experienced. I now say I have my personal barber in London, as posh as that sounds. Thank you Lukino, now I get what your good reviews are all about. Looking forward to my next trip to London.

Positives - was able to walk in and get a trim straight away and a choice of drink upon arrival. Negatives - i had a buzz cut and beard trim. Cut fine but beard trim disappointing........having had a beard for 10 years i'm pretty fussy how i like it so was very specific how the lines should be, unfortunately whilst the barber was very chatty and friendly she didn't follow what i had asked. It was too short due to the guard being used 'up' instead of 'down' which makes quite a difference and lines too low. I'm on holiday in London and am very lucky to have an amazing barber where i live (a killer fade from the beard to head, pretty key when you get a zero on the head and have a beard, very clean lines with a razor on the cheek lines) . Overall i did find Ruffians a bit fake in that respect, it just doesn't feel very authentic, though that could of course be the intention. I think i'm probably spoilt with such a good regular barber, but following what the customer has asked for should surely a priority?

Don't be put off by the cost of the haircut....trust me, it is well worth it! Oh and they don't rush like they do at a normal local barbers, they take their time and ensure they complete it properly. Emmalene had to fix the mistakes my local barber made and thank god she can work miracles.

A great overall experience, it's a nice space with very friendly and technically knowledgeable staff. Overall a traditional approach to barbering, but with lots of small innovations to the process which show they're really trying to deliver the best possible. The coffee was a nice touch (a proper rack filter coffee rack setup, they obviously take things like this seriously).
