I did 4 weeks here and honestly didn't want it to end. Experienced tutors, all with an enthusiastic, professional approach to teaching. You get to work on different cuts and hair types. Came today to get my haircut, and Mario who cut my hair was tremendous. He painstakingly took a large amount of time, meticulously cutting each side, despite my heavy and thick hair which can be a nightmare for other barbers. Today my haircut was handled by Leah. She is a really nice student at the academy, I love the haircut result, and love how friendly she is and other staffs in the building. Although they take longer compared to a barbers where you pay they take alot of pride in the haircuts and ensure they give you the best haircut and the staff are really encouraging towards the trainee and know exactly what they doing. I was a student at Total Barber from Feb to the end of April. I can honestly say it was one of the best things I have ever done. To anyone thinking of taking up barbering, even if you've never picked up a pair of scissors/clippers, this place is perfect for you. I done the full 10 week NVQ course. The tutors are absolutely amazing and make you feel at ease as soon as you walk in the door on the first day, as well as continually building your confidence throughout the course. I was thrilled that I could feel my confidence grow by the week. I finished the course feeling very good about myself and definitely felt ready to start work in a barbershop, to which I am now working in a well established shop where I live. Another great thing about TB is that they are very flexible. It is more than possible to do the course whilst maintaining a job; you can spread the course by attening a few days a week. Back to the tutors, the teaching style is laid back but nevertheless very informative, they all bringing something different to the table, and are all equally brilliant in what they do. All have the patience of a saint and are all genuinely great guys. Thank you H, Josh, Shaun and Steve, you have given me the skills for a career for life! I am barber!

I started this course with 0 experience barbering and travelled from Ireland to do it also. The entire staff made me feel more welcome than i had ever anticipated, It's almost like its own crazy family in a way. Brilliant haircut by Paul. Without doubt salon-quality work and customer service. Unlike most street barbershops, everyone were really attentive and seemed very enthusiastic about their job. Students and staff were constantly checking out cuts as they were passing by, and all haircuts are closely supervised by teachers. Everyone wore masks and face shields. It's a well-equipped and genuinely cool space.

Highly recommend Total Barber Academy, I flew in from Andorra to be taught by the best in the business and they more than lived up to my expectations, I had such a good experience and I did not want to leave, everyone was so friendly and it felt like a little family even from day one, I was so nervous as I had no barber experience and I was instantly put at ease when I introduced to everyone, they were so informative and the skills they have and teach show why they are so highly thought of in the industry. Can not wait to visit again to gain even more skills, I only did a short course, however I learnt more in those 2 weeks than I did in a year at college doing hairdressing, they just know how to tap in to the way that you learn best to get the most out of you. I did the course back in October and still we have kept in contact and they continue to help and encourage me, truly blessed to have met them all. From booking to to barber this has been a total great experience for me I was seen by a lovely chap with a baseball cap who confirmed by online booking and got me to sign in and within 10 minutes was seen by my barber Abz. He was a friendly and jovial chap who asked a bunch of questions I've never been asked before about my hair and head health condition. How to check in what I wanted and then confirmed this with his tutor Sean. He explained what he was doing throughout and confirmed steps with me along the way and got his tutor to have a double check when he finished. I got a fresh shape -up... but I almost don't want to give a great review because it was so good and the place will get so busy now that I won't be able to be seen 😬 But you have to give kudos where it is due... so hats off and head shaved to the Total Barbers Academy crew. 💯🔥

Review has been lonnnnng overdue. I took the barber course back in 2013. The course was well taught and you learn all the skills from beginner to a confident barber. You learn how to cut any style with clippers and scissors and also learn how to do a hot towel shave. Plenty of models keep walking in to practise on. That's important! I really enjoyed the course and went from no barbering skills to being employed within months. Great location, training and the banter that comes with it. Defo recommend.

I took the 10 week NVQ course at total barber. When I was looking at courses I had to choose between this academy and another one. I am so glad I chose Total barber. Anyone looking to train as a barber use this academy, you won't regret it. Its an intensive course so there are ups and downs but the tutors are all amazing and will help you when you're struggling and push you when you're flying. I couldn't believe the standard of my cuts at the end of my course. The guys that work there are what make the place the best. H is a really nice guy and gives you so much confidence. Josh has a very high standard and will teach you all the technical aspects of barbering and a good guy. The manager Shaun is a genuine legend and helped me more than he knows. He's very good with people and I watched him connect with every single student and got the best out of them. I attended Total Barber for the NVQ 2 Course ending early 2018. What an amazing journey. From not being able to hold scissors correctly to now owning and operating my own barber shop here in Australia. The Staff, the vibe, it's all there. So sad to leave. By the time you leave after having worked in the shop, it feels like you are leaving family and leaving home.....Do yourself a favor, if you want to be a barber.......arrange a meeting, make the call and go to Total Barber. Can't speak highly enough of the team, they really push you and nurture you through the whole thing. I had to get it the NVQ all done before I returned to Australia, and thanks to Shaun, H, and Josh we got it dusted early and was able to cut hair for fun. So many types of hair, hair style and cultures. If you want diverse hair cutting experience look no further!

I've been coming to get my haircut from this academy for the past 5 years. Hands down, the most chilled place to get a free cut and shave. Previously used to go to London School of Barbering but felt like I was on a conveyor belt and students were under a lot of pressure to cut as many heads as possible. Not Total Barbers, super relaxed teachers and students, place is buzzing, tunes are wavy and you get the full works: consultation by the student on what style you want, they get sign off by the teachers and then settle you in with a great free haircut, wash if you want and finish by styling your hair with products before you leave. The cut throat shaves here are not to be missed, hot towel treatment with exfoliation/massage and finish off with moisturising balm. You leave feeling like a new man, no exaggeration, see for yourself. Shout out to Shaun and Josh, you gents are running a sound ship, respect!

Need to be in queue even if you take online appointments! So my question is, what’s the use of appointments then? I had an appointment at 2pm but I was told to wait for more than half an hour. Atlast after waiting for a hour I was called for a haircut around 3:05pm. Then unfortunately😆 I had a Newcomer barber student for my haircut who was continously spraying water on my hairs and made my head wet for nothing! I just wanted a simple haircut (Short on sides, Long on top) but for this he tried more than 1 hour but failed at last. Finally his trainer came and fixed my hair at around 4:10pm because they were about to close. Well, if you don’t have money for a haircut you can go there but I personally don’t recommend that place because I think time is more important than few £! (3 stars because my haircut was not that bad)

I've been going here for a year and not once had a bad trim. Relaxed environment and everyone is always very friendly. Contrary to other reviews, I've always found the teachers to be very knowledgeable and keep a good eye on the students. Hannah and Tommy have been my last two barbers, both cut my hair to a high standard and seemed like pros. It's completely free and located 5mins from Old Street in a quirky area of Shoreditch.

TOTAL BARBER ROCKS !!!!! The NVQ Level 2 course is a fast track no nonsense course that will have you on the shop floor cutting real clients hair within 2 weeks. You will laugh and you will cry but above all you will be receiving fantastic training in classic and contemporary barbering in an inspiring enviroment. No bad teachers here. These guys are amazing! Great vibes! Great students! Great music! Excellent course overall and some very amusing nights out at the Griffin pub! As our course came to an end the Tutors did their best to guide us through how to apply for jods. What to say and how to deal with Skills Tests. Within 2 weeks I had secured a job at a high end barber shop in Canterbury. TB is not a job agency but they did everything they could to help us. I want to say a sincere thankyou to Captain Steve, Shaun, Mr.H and Josh. You were all absolutely outstanding in every way and I will never forget you or my time at TB. Despite all the hard work there was a lot of laughs! At 52 and having spent a grinding 27 years in construction my life has now totally changed for the better. If you are seriously thinking about training as a barber then do it at Total Barber. They are the best! And remember that whatever happens and wherever you end up you will always be Total Barber!

Great academy! All the tutors and students are incredibly friendly and helpful. Once you are off the training heads there is a steady stream of clients everyday for you to practice what you’ve learnt on. So lots of hands on practice. And although it was quite daunting at times not knowing who or what was going to be in your chair next, it allowed you to really stretch yourself and gain further skills. I’m really pleased i went to Total Barber as i feel you are treated as an individual. The tutors get to know you, your strengths, weaknesses and aspirations. And can tailor the teaching to your needs, around the nvq course structure. This is especially useful for Makeup Artists whose aims may be slightly different to those wishing to solely work in a barber shop. I’ve not only gained an NVQ in Barbering, which will help further my career in Film and TV, but i’ve also made many good friends for life. Got a top quality fade haircut which was fully supervised by professional barbers throughout. My barber, Jack, had amazing attention to detail and always queried for help whenever he needed assistance, which was reassuring for me. The only reason I had to drop one star was because I had to wait about 10-15 mins before being seen, despite having an appointment booked beforehand.

I chose total barber due to its location as it is in a nice part of shoreditch, also I chose total barber due to the atmosphere among the students and the teachers. Shaun was very welcoming from the get go and knew how to vary his teaching techniques between each student who may have learnt in different ways, and that was a big factor to me. Also found things such as going to the pub for a drink with the students and teachers made a warm welcome atmosphere throughout everyone and didn’t make it seem like the atmosphere you would have at school. I also found total barber made sure they covered all aspects of barbering to make sure you was ready for barbering out in the real world and not leaving you going out there not knowing certain areas within the industry so nothing was a shock, I also felt how the academy was set up like a barber shop got me used to how it will be working in a barber shop as it is the same feel in the shop to real barbershops. Totalbarber Academy Just want to say a big massive thank you to ... Captain Steve, Shaun Josh & Mr H. All of you have been absolutely fantastic guys. My son age 16 years old wanted to become a barber, we’d had a few interviews in London and found Totalbarber was the one for him. We booked a 9 week course: NVQ, I decided to join him on the course . I own my own business which is a garage (fast fit centre) we both have never cut hair, let alone did we know how to use or hold a pair of scissors. With the intense training, both of us along with the rest of the team were working on real people within two weeks being watched and guided in the right way. This made us feel very comfortable and built our confidence up very quickly. Towards the end of the course we were able to cut hair to a high standard on our own. My son has built a lot of confidence in himself thanks to you guys and now working full time in a barbershop until the end of October this year when we will open our first barber shop! I took redundancy from my career job of 17 years to become a barber. It was vital to me having taken such a massive step that I gave myself the best possible opportunity of achieving this goal. I researched the various colleges and academy's where I could gain the NVQ level 2 Barber qualification and TB stood out. I knew from my first chat with then and subsequent visit to see TB that this was the place for me. I was so impressed with the energy, enthusiasm and professional set up I signed up for the full time course the next day. Some weeks later and with a huge amount of trepidation I arrived for my first day. From then I didn't look back once and I want to say a massive thank you to all the guys for enabling me to realise my goal. It's an amazing thing that 10 weeks ago I hadn't even held scissors, comb or clippers and now next week I am starting a job which I found on week 8 of the course.
