I was really happy with the wet cut I had from Claudia. Claudia is lovely, warm and makes you feel at ease. This is the second time I have had a cut with Claudia and already I think she knows what cut would suit me and fit with my lifestyle. What sets this salon apart from others, for me, is always being able to get an appointment, professional staff who know what they are doing and listening to what their customers want, and being able to get an affordable wet cut (not everyone needs or wants a fancy blow-dry). I've never stuck with a salon for very long as I have never found one I liked enough but I am hoping to stick with this salon for a while longer. I would recommend this salon.

Had my hair put in up do by the lovely and super talented Claudia she even opened up early for me. I got so many compliments from total strangers which totally turned my day around. I would highly recommend anyone who has a special occasion or, like me, a girly lunch planned to come here; you leave looking great and feeling happy 😃

Very happy with Greg getting my hair the way I want it, even without me knowing how I want it. That's why I keep coming back. Only four stars because my impression is that the salon is not fussed about Covid, maybe doing the bare minimum protection legally required. That will suit many people just fine and if that's you, read the review as five star, but I personally would feel more comfortable if everyone was wearing a mask especially as I can't wear a tight fitting mask while having my hair cut. Having my hair done consistently by Greg is just about important to me though to take the remaining risk, so please read that as an endorsement of his skill.

I had been looking for a new hairdressers and after reading the reviews I thought I would give this place a go. The positives are that the stylists seem to be very experienced and I left with a nice haircut. The negatives are that I waited for 20 minutes after my allocated time and received no apologies, it appears that you receive a very different level of service depending on whether you are a new client or regular client and the stylist seemed to be disinterested which made the appointment feel slightly awkward (I will give them the benefit of the doubt and suggest I caught them on a bad day). Overall, I got a nice haircut but do I want to sit through another service like that to get it? Possibly not...but I would still recommend them based off the haircut alone.

Got my hair cut today by Dalton. I'd waited a bit too long to sort out my Captain Lockdown look, and the job he did was amazing; I think my partner's happier with it than I am which is saying a lot! I've only recently moved to the area and after nearly 3 decades of mostly using the same barber I'm glad I've found a new regular. I'll mask up next time, though! I feel a bit irresponsible for not doing so as it clearly says on the website that you should - and that's for the best.

It’s the third time Greg is doing my hair. I am a nervous hairdresser client. I have very long hair and previous experiences have not been good. I emailed the salon and Nick got back back to me very quickly and suggested Greg would be good for my needs. So ... I turned up at the appointed time and Greg was waiting there to welcome me. I told him I was nervous and why. He was outstanding. We sat down and he chatted with me about what I wanted, my past experiences and also what he felt was right for me. Overall .. importantly ... Greg listened. I had my hair cut and tidied up, it had been 2 years since it had been touched. The cut was fantastic and Greg explained every step and why it was best for my hair. I’d mentioned about having it coloured. He suggested we took some of what he was cutting off to do a colour test on it. Never had this done before and what a great idea. Seeing how my hair would look with a particular colour on it was inspired. Therefore, I did a colour test to make sure I didn’t have a reaction. All was good and I returned a week and a half after my cut. Greg was great again. Attentive, totally professional and an all round really nice guy. I cannot recommend him enough. He has a rare talent in a hairdresser ... he really listens to you. I appreciate his directness and would prefer someone being honest with me about what I need or what would work.

It was very easy to book an appointment online, and I certainly appreciated the option to do so. The stylist I had, Irina, was lovely. Robert was the only person I would have trusted to cut my hair after I grew it long. Great hair isn't necessarily the most important thing in the world , but it's not a bad place to start.

I took advantage of the half price online offer on my first visit and I was thrilled with the results. I went to Martin for highlights and a cut and received the results and service I would expect from a £150 top London salon for £31. Martin listened to what I wanted for my color, instantly understood what I meant and then explained how we could go about achieving the look in a way that was healthy for my hair. Having long blonde hair which is easily damaged I appreciated that he wasn’t suggesting a quick fix and instead looking for long term solutions to reduce damage and prolong the highlighted blonde color I want. I have used most top salons in Jesmond and paid arm and leg for color in London, Martin is without a doubt the most knowledgeable and focused colorist I have come across and at this price, a hidden gem. It is an added bonus that the time in the salon flies with a good atmosphere and great conversation.

I was a loyal customer of Rob's but regrettably decided to change hairdressers when I moved to Sunderland. I quickly realised that this was a huge mistake and returned to Nicholas Mark. Unbelievably, Rob was able to correct the cut and colour disaster I had received at my new hairdressers on my first return visit and I left the Nicholas Mark salon feeling amazing! I am so thankful to have found Rob and I was a fool to think I would ever find another hairdresser who would consistently outdo my expectations. I trust Rob wholeheartedly, and often allow him to decide how best to style my hair as he has taken the time to fully understand the nature of my hair, exactly how I like it and my maintenance needs (i.e. low because of my busy lifestyle). Its small but that makes it cosy. The prices are fantastic, especially if you want your hairdyed. Worth every penny. All the employees are super friendly and chatty.
