Had my first salon haircut here in years and my first ever balayage. I brought some reference pictures but was nervous that it could go wrong as it felt like a big change and my hair wasn't quite long enough for the style I had in mind. Les did an incredible job and I left absolutely over the moon. It also was much faster than expected but the standard was not affected. Great value and so much cheaper than what I would have paid in London. Would highly recommend this place and Les!

I love my new look, thanks to Angela. I’ve gone to Ysalon today for partial highlights. I had colour before on Ysalon; I love my summer look! Angela is a very professional hairdresser, and you know it when you see how she works, and the time she spends no matter what until your hair is perfect. No one treats my hair like her. Ysalon is the best hairdressing in Newcastle for me, and I will continue going and going until she retires 😁

I'm always very apprehensive trying out new salons, but I am so glad I went to Y Salon and will definitely go back, Angela was amazing. She talked to me a lot about my hair, showed me loads of pictures, and really spent a lot of time and effort to give me exactly what I wanted. I had a really nice experience at Y salon. Angela and the whole team were lovely. So much care is taken over every detail from the products used to the washing and consultation, not to mention the cut itself. I will be coming back for my next cut!

Highly recommend. Before the 3rd lockdown, i was in desperate need of having my extensions refitted. Found Y Salon on an online search and thankfully got an appointment before the lockdown. The stylist, john, was really friendly and very knowledgeable about different products that would be suitable for my hair. The owner, les, was also very friendly and chatted to me about the products they stocked and how the Salon worked towards using reusable/recyclable plastics and a lot of the products they stocked were more natural and hair friendly. The layout of the salon has been adapted to be Covid friendly. Areas cleaned down and used aprons isolated. Staff were wearing the correct PPE, which is reassuring. I was recommended and bought a quinoa-based solution that is designed to repair damaged hair. Ive really enjoyed using this product. I would recommend the salon. I dont pass through Eldon Gardens, so i wasn't sure where to go but actually, it was really really easy to find.

I have been going to this salon for at least 7 years, had major colour changes and my hair has always been amazing still strong and super shiny. Colour I usually have done with Angela, and blow drys I have had done with all the staff always very good. I would highly recommend. I am a natural very dark brunette, they have taken me to every shade I have ever wanted to be with no damage to my hair!

By far the best hairdressers I have ever been to. I used to be frightened to get my hair cut as I have curly, thick and dry hair which no hairdresser seemed to be able to tame, until I saw Angela at Y Salon. The staff immediately knew which products (which are all ethical) would be best for my hair, how to cut it and what advice to give me in terms of caring for it. On top of this, the staff are the loveliest most real people you could hope to meet, which makes their one-to-one personal style even better. Alongside all of this the Salon have a policy of being as ethical as possible, an attitude which translates over the whole store, from their products to their fixtures! I now only go to Y Salon, and highly recommend to anyone to try them out - I can guarantee you will love it.

Amazing salon! I use this salong regularly for my hair cut, coloured, styled and blow dried, wouldn't go anywhere else, bery professional and do an amazing job! During this pandemic the salon have taken extreme measures for mine and their staffs safety, a grray procedure and provided hand sanitizer and face masks if you do not have your own. I can highly recommend, have only ever had good experiences. 10******

I have been visiting Y salon for nearly 20 years, and am always extremely happy with the service. Today I visited with balayage hair, but wanted a recolour back towards my natural colour, as I was struggling to maintain good condition of my thick curly hair at the ends, and wanted really healthy-looking hair for a wedding I am attending soon. Leslie recommended a protein spray 'Quinoaplex R3' to repair my hair, and also Kevin Murphy shampoo (vegan friendly and the bottles are made from recycled plastic found in the ocean) - so I was happy to try these products. My hair is now so soft and shiny - I can actually see and feel that these products worked! I now have gorgeous chocolatey-brown hair, with a cut & blow dry worthy of a page in a glossy magazine - thanks Leslie!

I visit Y Salon every 6 weeks for a colour, cut and blow dry. The experience and professionalism of the staff is of such a high standard. My hair is looked after very well and I really love the Kevin Murphy products they use at the salon. I’d most definitely recommend Y Salon to others!

Always have a positive experience coming to Y Salon. Always come for my roots and have my hair toned to the most beautiful grey colour. Had my hair cut and styled for the first time in ages after a previous bad experience at a different salon (regis). Came out with a gorgeous new look which was full of volume and smelt amazing.. I can not recommend this salon enough. Expect to meet friendly staff who are passionate about what they do and the environment! What is not to love?

I’ve been coming to Y Salon for 10 years. They treat me like family I can not recommend them enough ! They’ve bleached me, shaved half my head, give me extensions and any other mad thing I’ve asked for and it’s always come out looking fabulous! They’ve also been super helpful with hair care advice after changes to my body and lifestyle (eg. childbirth, breastfeeding, vegetarianism). Brought my two young sons in for haircuts today and they were fantastic! It’s the only time my boys have ever sat still in a hairdressers chair! Such a good salon. They really look after you.

To quickly begin this review I have been here a few times and experienced only problems when the owner has cut my hair. I had a cut with Henna which was faultless. Upon rebooking a year after I was told Henna was on leave therefore I had to get my hair cut off the owner again. He cut my fringe in well and I loved it BUT that's all he cut... it took 5 minutes and I was charged full price for a restyle. Luckily I got some student discount for the haircut. Which I had to ask for even after speaking about university on more than one occasion (I didn't know this was offered until this occasion hence why I only asked this time). I did not feel comfortable speaking up at the time about the lack of time spent on my hair, which I feel happened as it became obvious I wouldnt complain due to my timid personality on different occasions when I had left unhappy. On the day my fringe was cut in his daughter who took my money even commented on how quick it was so it must not be a regular thing for them. Upon ringing to see if Henna was back from leave a month after as I still needed a cut as my hair wasn't touched. I was informed she had left but that I could book in with someone else. I knew it was the owner on the phone so I informed him that last time I had my haircut with him that I paid for a restyle and my fringe was only cut in which took 5 minutes and he retaliated that you get less time if you don't pay for a more qualified stylist 1. That is ridiculous and 2. He is the owner In this situation I really feel I was taken adavntage of. I cannot be certain why this happened, it could be that I do not have money like other customers and maybe they did not appreciate the gaps between visits and not purchasing products etc. The fact is this hairdressers is pricey which is fare enough as they are capable and worth it WHEN they put in the time they are meant to. Sadly in my case it got lazy and when voicing that I paid for a restyle and it was over in 5 minutes it was made out this was okay and brushed off as I didn't pay for a senior stylist. I am not leaving this review lightly I just wanted to warn others about the possibility of being ripped off and also to ask Y salon not to take advantage of people just because you know they won't complain. You claim to be ethical but will happily take full price for a fringe being cut in. I don't expect you to take responsibility or even admit to this happening but we both know it happened. To finish all I have to say is that you should not treat people this way. Not that you will take note of this, but I do hope in future you would not give other customers this sort of treatment as it is wrong and quite frankly unprofessional behaviour.

Angela, Les and their team are very experienced hairdressers who know all of the latest hair trends because of their regular work with London Fashion Week and editorial work here and in London. Colour work is always spot on. Always receive loads of compliments on my hair after a visit to Y salon and always recommend them to everyone.

Angela is fantastic, so knowledgable, explains expected colour outcomes really well and most importantly, makes my hair look amazing every time! Actually, equally importantly is how caring, friendly and considerate she is. After my initial colour, I was invited back for an after-care assessment (platinum blondes are tricky!) which goes above and beyond any service I’ve ever received. I couldn’t recommend Angela or the salon more!

Ysalon is amazing I had my highlights done off the Yong lad there called Jon, he was so nice and understanding about my needs he talked about this amazing product called Quinoaplex it is one product that dose everything you can think of..! All the salon product are vegan and animal cruelty free. They use a brand called Kevin Murphy in salon and I asked a little bit more about the brand and I found out that all the product bottles are made from Ocean plastics so they are not just good for your hair they are also saving the planet..... how about that so if anyone is looking for a salon for some amazing results I highly Recommend Ysalon in Newcastle and ASK FOR JON! I will definitely be going back to them as I can now say I feel like part of the Ysalon family ❤️

best colour I've ever had! I have a pastel pink in my hair and every other salon I have been to has done it and within a week it has faded. I went to y salon and found out they are all loreal colour experts and the colour was amazing! It has not faded at all four weeks down now! Will be back very soon :)

I have been searching for a salon in newcastle since i am not from here. I tried few others before but was not very happy. I had a color correction session with Blake - from a patchy brown and black hair to a well blended balayage.It went very well. I'm very satisfied with the outcome,the service given and also the salon itself has a nice comfortable space Blake was very nice, informative and i like how he explains the steps to me.

I have been a loyal customer at YSalon for a number of years now. First of all I've just got to say that Blake's head massages when getting my hair washed is what brings me back through doors! I make sure that I get every hair treatment on offer just so I can stay in the chair longer! I'm never quite sure on the look I want for my hair, but Ashley is always full of advice, and together we get the best result. I can't see myself going anywhere else for this experience, even if it means me coming up from Bournemouth each time!

amzing amzing amzing my highlights i feel like a new woman i have this boost of confidence and was such a good price as i had said i was a liitle stuck for cash so they was so understanding and done them for £80 as they would normaly be around 100 and odd. it is a green salon as well witch is amzing they use a brand called kevin murphy witch is vegan freindly and all producs are curelty free they also offer a refill service on all there produc bottles witch is so good and so green for the planet all there producs are made from [O.W.P] witch is ocean weste plastic i am so happy thansk to jon who is also stylist of the year witsh made me feel even more special getting my hair done by stlist of the year so thansk you jon and all the y salon team

had a haircut by the new stylist trisha only cost £15 the cut was excellent and exactly how i described it to trisha the service was first class and the cut was well worth the money would have expected to pay much more if your looking for a good hairdressing experience would reccommend you try her where else in newcastle could you get a haircut for £15 this is a special seasonal offer but would go back even at full price
