I’ve always hated going to get my haircut as I always leave disappointed and I’ve had a few disaster cuts that make me even more nervous about making a hair appointment anywhere. I had never been to this salon before but after reading their reviews and looking on their Instagram page I thought I’d give them a go and I was not disappointed at all. I can truly say that I am over the moon with the service I received today and I couldn’t love my hair more, Eloise did a lovely job and I will definitely be coming back to this salon 💗 Highly Recommend!!

As a curly girl, going to hair salons that didn’t cater to Black/African hair would put me off and I would have to fend myself and do my research online or via family members. So it’s beautiful to see how times are changing and giving junior hair apprentices that opportunity and open the doors to greater things!

After years of box bleaching I was worried they would criticise me for the damage and also cut all my hair off. But my hairdresser Erin was lovely and understanding and made sure I was okay with the process every step of the way. They are a very kind and approachable salon, and from looking around the room at other clients that day, it seems everyone gets amazing results.

C.I have been going to Yoke for around 5 years, and have been consistently blown away by the warmth, skill and genuine care I've received from the moment I've picked up the phone to book until leaving the salon. I've never been dissatisfied with my cut or colour and have been mega impressed by each team member's passion and thoughtfulness - but particularly Jo who as an owner goes above and beyond to give her clients and colleagues a good experience. I've never received this level of consistency from a salon and you'd be hard-pushed to find people who understand hair this well anywhere. We're lucky to have you here in the South West!

Having gone prematurely grey, my hair had been battered with various box dyes, colourants and all sorts over the years to cling onto any form of youth. I was nervous about 'embracing the grey' but knew it was time to make the move. I approached Yoke having seen them on Instagram and immediately got the feeling I would be in good educated hands. I booked a consultation with Jo and I was immediately put at ease. The consultation method prior to getting my hair done was a breath of fresh air, I felt acknowledged, listened to and also was spoken to openly and honestly about how my hair could be approached. My hair appointment was not immediately after my consultation which was explained to me honestly due to being so busy (signs of a decent salon!) but I knew my appointment would be worth the wait. Having since had my hair done, to say I am happy with the result is an understatement. I get compliments regularly at how well it is blended and how it makes others want to 'embrace the grey'! Couldn't praise Jo and the team more highly. If you want a professional, honest hair cut/colour by people who truly know their stuff, then you only need to go to Yoke. No wonder their waiting list is as long as my arm!

N.Hands down one of the best hair salons in UK! I've spent unscrupulous amounts of money on haircuts and the service and standards provided by Yoke supersedes my experience at other hair salons, even compared to the likes of Larry King in South Ken. Highly recommend Amelie and Erin for a cut. She's wonderfully bubbly, friendly and absolutely talented. It's no wonder their team are award-winning. Jo is incredibly knowledgeable about all things hair and I trust her entirely to do what is right for my hair, both in terms of short term satisfaction and long term care. A salon with a gargantuan reputation in the city and with good reason! World domination next!

The salon itself is stunning, based by the sea in Royal William Yard, and the interior screams unique and cool. There is never a feeling that you're getting the same colour/cut as everyone else or that you had last time; each appointment starts afresh, getting a real understanding of what you want, and it's totally bespoke. Staff are approachable and friendly - there simply isn't any of the slightly intimating atmosphere you get in other salons - and that's reflected in how involved in and passionate about the local community YOKE is. I always leave happy and with hair in amazing condition - we're lucky to have such an excellent salon in Plymouth.

They take so much care of your hair and put the health of it before anything else. I appreciate the honest feedback when discussing styles and colours to suit you. They only recommend products that have a solid basis of science behind them too.

E. W.Im so happy i was recommended Yoke. I have tried ALOT of different hair dressers in Plymouth and i just have never had a good experience. I feel really uncomfortable in hairdressers. Im not a chatty person and i get tiered quiet quick, but because my hair is so thick im always at hairdresser for a long time.
I usually feel like im a burden and just want to get out as quickly as i can with a quick 'yup thats fine, thank you'. With Yoke i didn't feel any pressure to chat, but everyone was polite and kind. I didn't feel a burden for my hair being difficult, even though it takes about an hour to dry. Most importantly i didn't feel a need to run away at the end because i was genuinely happy with the results, and i felt rested and happy rather then drained when i left.
Yes it is slightly more expensive then other hairdressers in town but its worth it. SO many times i have had consultations where the hairdresser has said all the right things, and iv felt like they have listened, and then once they have finished with my hair im left wondering if my vision is ok as the photos i have provided are far from the results i am left with. Yoke listened and sincerely wanted me to be happy with the results.
As my Gran would say 'Buy cheap, buy twice'.

J.Absolutely love this place!! Really lovely people, the owners Steve and Jo are very friendly and professional, as are all the staff. The salon has a great atmosphere, very chilled and relaxed, it’s purposely not over busy, meaning you get a nice relaxing experience. Lots of lovely little touches too, such as ‘proper’ tea and coffee, lovely decor and what is really nice is they are environmentally conscious and use eco friendly techniques where possible. Would highly highly recommend this fantastic locally owned salon 👍🏻🥰
