Having just moved near Truro I wanted to find a barbers in town. There are lots of gents hairdressers to choose from in Truro but 1981 caught my eye with so many good reviews. I made an appointment with Dan for the following day and was more than happy with my cut and beard trim. Despite being over 60 and past the skin fade and buzz cuts, I was made to feel more than welcome and had a great chat with Dan as he went to work. The man worked with the precision of a surgeon, a full 45 minute cut and trim, rather than the usual 20 minute in and out as fast as possible. This was my best hairdressing experience for a long time and made even an oldie feel good walking out of the shop. I wouldn’t bother trying anyone else in town!!

This was my first time going to a barbers in Truro and I am so happy that I went to the 1981 barbershop. Even without their incredible sustainability mission, it was well worth going. Jake was very friendly, asked the perfect amount of questions on what style I wanted and took great care in cutting my hair. The whole vibe of the shop was really good. As someone interested in the environment, knowing my hair and money will actually be helping the planet was the icing on the cake! Thoroughly recommend a visit!

The only barbershop I will go to from now on. I recently moved to Truro and had no idea where to go get my hair done. I walked by this place a few times and noticed that their work was consistently good. Hopped onto Google and noticed that all their reviews have been really positive. I then went on the website and booked an appointment with Dan. The whole online booking was easy to use and simple. Got there a bit early, was greeted by Damien and Dan came in shortly. The space was beautiful. Dan and I had a small chat on what I wanted to do with my hair and Dan explained in detail the different numbers with the clippers when I was a bit confused. Got my sides and my back trimmed to perfection. Dan's attention to detail was second to none. I originally booked for a full haircut but he only charged me for the back and sides because we didn't need to touch the top. I would have happily paid full price for the service! I absolutely loved the end result, looks very clean and fresh. I wouldn't bother checking out other places, you guys have a long-term customer in the bag from here on. Thanks and see you soon!

I get my hair cut here every 2 weeks since it opened, it is a very welcoming environment, the shop is bright, fresh and aesthetically pleasing. Great music, very COVID safe, love that it is completely vegan and zero waste, the guys are all friendly and easy to talk with. There is lots of parking right outside which is usually free as the machine is always broken. Inside the shop is always immaculately clean, they get great press in lots of barbering magazines and it is generally a positive and happy experience and atmosphere.

My go to place for haircuts in Truro. I’ve had my hair cut by Damien and Jake, and they’re both great. The barbershop itself is bright, clean and hygienic. Will definitely recommend.

Recently I have switched to the 1981 barbershop where I felt extremely welcomed-the shop had a really good vibe about it and is clean and tidy. My barber was Jake.I’ve used Jake for a very long time now.He’s a top barber and a top bloke.Jakes has always given me excellent skin fades,his work is the best around. Also he has given me excellent advice on my hair which definitely has made it look much better. Service he provides is the best around hence why I have followed him from his old barber shop to the 1981 barbershop. Definitely recommend the shop and if Jake has space I’d definitely recommend booking yourself in with him.

Freshest haircut going! 18 months worth chopped and gone. The guys are friendly, professional and throw a mean fade. The sustainable, zero waste barbering is the way to go! Big love for that. Dan is a gentleman and always does a first class job! Highly recommend this shop.

Dan has been cutting my hair for years, and I didn't hesitate to follow him to 1981 when he changed shops. The barbers is in a great location, with parking nearby, and is pioneering zero waste in a way to be admired. I've never had a haircut from Dan I haven't been happy with, and would highly recommend visiting him or Damien if you need a trim. I fully trust his suggestions and he's great at beard work as well. Give 1981 a try next time you need a cut!

Don't let the uber-stylish simplicity of the shop fool you, this place is all about giving you the best cut in town. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The barbers, Dan and Damien are among the best anywhere. The attention to detail in every cut I've ever had is above compare. Seriously, these guys are consummate professionals. Incredibly clean, spacious and creative new shop. Damien is very friendly, easy going and professional - always makes the customer feel welcome and at ease. A type of Barber you very rarely come across but when you do, you decide that you will follow to the corners of the globe for that fresh feeling cut. The new shop is really open, inviting and well situated with plenty of parking on Old Bridge St Car Park. A big benefit for many people working varying shifts is the flexibility to book a slot to suit the individual, as opposed to walk ins and waiting. The shop is also 100% zero waste, with no plastic being used at all. I'd recommend anyone to give this place a try for one cut and I guarantee you'll continue to get your hair cut here.

His attention to detail is second to none and he will never let you leave the chair until he’s happy that you’re happy! There’s never a rush either...
