I've been here twice now. The first time I got the 'inspired' nails and had the most beautiful floral pattern to match the dress I was wearing. The second, unfortunately my artist was out sick but they were nice enough to squeeze me in so I could get my nails done for my sisters wedding. Lovely people and my nails always look beautiful at the end!

I've been visiting Buff for around a year now since moving to Edinburgh, and it definitely is the best nail choice I've made. After seeing Jen's designs, I just had to book an appointment. Jen is a very talented artist and paints nails like she's painting a picture - the process really is so intriguing to watch, and relaxing too. Imagine Bob Ross as a nail artist, and that is Jen! It also helps that the nail bar has a chill atmosphere and the girls in there are so down to earth and have great chat. I always look forward to my next design and the compliments I receive on them are so bittersweet, as I only wish I could say I'd done them myself!

Jen is my gal, and every time I leave (after a good natter and a cracking soundtrack) I feel thoroughly pampered and zen. Jen is an artist in the truest sense of the word – I've never seen someone so talented at nails and so creative. I'd never go to anyone or anywhere else. She looks after you from the moment you enter the salon, taking interest in your own ideas and putting her signature care and attention onto the finished product. My absolute fave place to go, it's a salon like no other and a real self-care treat. Every nail artist is pure lovely and super talented. I have been a regular client of the wonderful Vanda at Buff for a couple of years now. The salon itself is modern, chic, clean, relaxing and friendly, and in a great central location. It’s the best quality and longest lasting Shellac manicure I have found in Edinburgh (I usually have a Re-Shellac every 3-4 weeks). Vanda is a dream nail tech (/pal/therapist!) who really listens, cares and is hugely talented at more stylish nail art as well as recommending the right colours to suit your skin tone (I always get compliments on my nails!). Really impressed at the level of care taken during Covid times and hasn’t affected the salon experience. Would not hesitate to recommend. See you again very soon ladies 😊

I am HOOKED. There's a standard of service Buff provides which is hard to come by. Vanda, the artist I usually go to, is knowledgeable, well trained and has a good flair for colour, she really understands what I'm looking for every time I go. I was also impressed when I couldn't book with Vanda and found the same level of service with Rachel, so you know that it's the business as a whole which performs. But it's not just the nails. The location, gorgeous decor, sights and friendly (but not fake) atmosphere more than make up for the high price point, which is why I keep coming back again and again. If you're hesitating- don't. Give it a shot, but be warned, you'll be planning your next trip as soon as you leave :)

I always love going to buff when I have a chance. I live in the US but I’ve been “stealing” Jen’s amazing art ideas for ages. The salon is adorable and clean. Their protocols once reopening after lockdown are consistent and comforting. People legit don’t believe some of her hand drawn designs aren’t stickers when I tell them - i’ve had everything from vintage VW camper vans to Matisse, a recreation of characters by one of my favourite artists, tarot cards, and who can forget my walnut wood grain phase? Jen is so talented, and she’s such a good laugh as well. Literally the best application of shellac I've had, about 5-6 thin layers; super strong and lasted 3+ weeks, not a chip or imperfection throughout that time. I’ve been coming to Buff for three years now and although my bank account hates me for it, I can’t see that changing anytime soon. I always book with Vanda without question, the appointments feel more like a catch-up with a friend (if you get past the face masks and the Pyrex screens). I quite often get nail art, sometimes with something I want and other times I just let Vanda do what she wants. My favourites have been the minimalistic, Scandi nail art styles. If you want nails that everyone is going to ‘ooh’ at, are chic, plus an hour of great chat that’ll sometimes have you belly laughing then Vanda is your gal.

My nails were filed down to as short as they could possibly be, even though we had discussed keeping a bit of length at the beginning of the appointment and they were relatively short to begin with. I was being bridesmaid the following day, so I was a bit upset they were filed down so short and had wanted lovely nails. The gel was very thick and 2 of my nails peeled off after 10 days, gel polish usually lasts 2-3 weeks. I was pretty disappointed and I really don’t think it’s worth the money, I’ll go elsewhere next time.

I had the courtesy of going to Buff last week to get my nails done and the whole experience was amazing from start to finish. Being a nurse I can’t often get my nails done but it was an absolute privilege having Jen perform her magic and give me the most perfect set of nails. After chatting on Instagram before my appointment Jen knew exactly what I was looking for and she blew me away with the nail art she did on the day. She kept my nails long using Apres extensions which is exactly what I wanted and she involved me in every step of the process. Jen explained exactly what she was doing and always made sure I was comfortable and happy. The nail art she did was unbelievable and went above and beyond all my expectations, I loved the use of all the colours she used and the use of extras such as gold foil and glitter just added to the design and overall look. I was overjoyed with my nails and still am, I’ve had so many compliments on them and will be so sad when they have to get removed. Buff is a beautiful nail salon in the perfect location in town, I felt comfortable the whole time I was there and as everyone was wearing masks and using hand sanitizer/washing hands I also felt safe. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and I will definitely be back every time I have a holiday from work and can get my nails done.
