This was not the first time that I had visited John Wood's where I always receive great service, but this time was more special as I was picking up my custom built from Matt. The bike looked great, I received loads of guidance on kit and gear and the bike was built with an insane attention to details. Superb bike shop and superb service

Dropped my bike in so they could see what headset they might need to order for me - they fixed it on the spot. Turns out it'd been put together wrongly. Didn't take my wallet as wasn't expecting to have anything done - not a problem and wasn't a charge as a few minutes to sort. Thank-you, you guys are ace and I'll be using you for all bike-issues / purchases going forward! Highly recommend :-)

Brilliant bike shop. They are extremely knowledgable and helpful. Their service prices are fair and if there is an issue with you bike after its been repaired they are more than happy to take a second look for free. Potentially the best bike shop I've used in bristol.

I really thought the value and quality of the repair and service my bike received was excellent. It did take a bit longer than expected but I think that reflects both the popularity of the gov cycle vouchers and the popularity of the bike shop. Any hangups about the wait quickly dispersed when I got my bike back and saw what a great job had been done by Connie.

I took my bike in for a service, they were helpful, good pricing, good communication and good turn around time. I unfortunately did have a problem with the bike with the peddle falling off after being replaced, the first fix wasn't successful, after which they fully replaced the cranks. During the problems they did give good customer service and resolved the issue at no additional charge. I do believe my issue was bad luck and I would use these guys again

Great staff, I took my new Fat Wheel bike in as it had an issue with the bottom bracket, Matt went above and beyond to solve the problem as nothing was ordinary about it. Couldn't recommend enough.

I recently booked my son's bike in for a service and to sort out a new chain and brakes. They did a fabulous job and it's looking and working great. There was a little mix up with dates for getting the bike back but nothing too problematic. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Great bike shop. Always informative and return my bike to me good as new after a service. I even popped in to see if they had any bike spares - needed a screw cap for my rear wheel - and they gave me one free of charge. Great independent bike shop.

Half way through my Saturday cycle I’ve noticed my chain was a bit rattling so luckily cycled passed John Wood’s to ask if they could just get some lube on it... they not only did this as also did a quick fix on my slightly loose fork in less than 10min!! They’re super friendly and kind. One “complain”... that didn’t let me pay for this (haha). I will definitely go back when needed 👌🏻

James and Co at John Wood's Cycle Repair Centre, great service, good value and really helped me out of a pickle. I had a DIY bike repair problem half way through BB removal, due to lack of correct tool, rang round loads to see if anyone had stock of tool, to no avail. James offered to help me out and got the bottom bracket (now wrecked, involved a screwdriver) out for me super quick. Helped me find the right tool and best value, so could order through them. Top work!

Just visited hanham cycles for new tyre inertube.on sons bike fitted for me straight away.no charge for fitting.excellent service as usual friendly helpful shop.

My bike was nackered after being left in a shed for 3 years. Took it in and a week later it was done! Usually would have been quicker but it needed a lot of work. Got it back and it's like brand new! They even cleaned it up for me. Top repair!

When a standard service concluded that my bike was ‘unsafe to ride’ one week before a month long bike holiday that I’ve been planning for, well, months, it was a stressful day. This unassuming little bike shop on Hanham High Street were absolute heroes, turning round my warranty claim with Genesis Bikes, stripping my components and rebuilding the new frame within a week. I owe Matt and everyone in his team a massive debt of gratitude. So if you're in Bristol and looking for any work on your bike please give these guys a turn. They're absolutely brilliant!

Bought my first bike in years not long after it got taken over by Matt.I had a idea in my head of what i was after but after speaking with Matt i left it up to him in just a few days he had got back to me with a choice which was far better than what i imagined and under my budget. i have been back for a service and winter tires and lights and every time hes always striving to find the best products at a fair price. I went back again to have slick tires put back on for summer and he had even kept my lightly used ones from last summer all in all a fantastic little shop run by a very enthusiastic young man i can not recommend the shop or Matt highly enough.

Not being a huge cyclist as I'm more of a food lover I was very happy to stumble upon a very nice high quality free to collector push bike which had clearly been in storage for some time. I picked it up and could see it would need a service and some new tires etc so I ran it down to my local cycle shop on the local High Street. I thought it was going to cost me a fair whack but worth while for the quality of the bike. I was surprisingly shocked when the young guy behind the counter said a basic service and two new tires would be a very reasonable cost but the bike was in very good condition and in need of a good wash. When I picked up the bike it looked brand new and rode like a new bike, I have been getting great use out of it ever since and have been back to the shop several times over for accessories and further inner tube repairs. Highly recommended!!

I approached Mat and John Wood's Cycle Repair Centre having narrowed my search to 3 makes of bikes - Ridgeback, Croix de Fer and Surly. Mat had all 3 available to be looked at. I already had been into Evans in Bristol City Centre to be told that if I bought the bike they would order it in and I would get a chance to look at it ... muppets !! Mat was like a breath of fresh air, the bikes were brought outside for me to look at (social distancing) and Mat answered all my questions with sound knowledge. I ordered a Suly Disc Tracker with extras on the spot. Due to the high demand at the time I had to wait for it and then we had no space at home due to landscapers taking over our garage. Mat was very understanding and accommodating. I have, this week, collected my bike, it is truly a joy to behold and will get me back on a bike and hopefully we will enjoy many miles and years together. I always, when possible buy from an independent - you help the chap you meet pay for the roof over his family's head and food on the table - you are not paying for a range of executives to draw a large salary and buy flash cars. Thank you Mat for your patience, your advice and preparing my new bike. You come highly recommended !!!

I have used many bike shops inc. Halfords for 5 years prior to trying this repair shop. I found the friendly and helpful staff far more thorough in their service and will be using them from now on. When I picked up my bike I noticed the staff actually take the time to explain to other customers the products they were buying and even offer to adjust somebody's cycling shoes for them. This is the only repair shop I have been to that does this and with a smile. I couldn't be happier, long live the local bike shop.

My local bike shop but wouldn't go elsewhere even if I moved. The guys are all really helpful and give great services. You won't get any "cheap" bikes or services here, if you're looking for that, but you get what you pay for with bicycles and I was very happy with my bike and will carry on coming here for services, parts and accessories.

Whether your bike is worth less than a hundred pounds or multiples of thousands of pounds one fact unites us all and that is looking after it and servicing it is far cheaper than ignoring a problem or suspicious noise. When you get to the limit of your maintenance experience and knowledge you need someone you can trust to talk to to find out what’s wrong and come up with a plan of action to fix the problem so that costs don’t keeping mounting and further damage or unnecessary wear is avoided. You want connection with that person so that you can talk things over even if you don’t have the vocabulary and your lack of knowledge is self-evident. You also want the piece of mind that if you suggest something that could incur unnecessary cost you will get the right solution at the right price and never the one at that higher price even if it could be justified. The icing on the cake is the small things that go beyond what you expected. It’s also important for peace of mind that before you leave your bike you know how much everything is going to cost and if another problem is found you’re told and can decide whether the work should be done knowing how much it will be. In the last few weeks I’ve had a broken spoke and bent wheel, my Ortlieb pannier clip needed replacing after being knocked off my bike, my pedal crank bearings were worn and my disc brake was clicking so I went into John Woods Cycle Repair Centre in Hanham and everything above is what I got from Mat and his team. I’ve had a lot of experience of bike shops over the years and they are one of the best.

Awesome Guys......My son was unable to ride his new Christmas bike as there was a problem with the pedal and he was very upset, I dropped it off here and not only were they able to fix his pedal but they also adjusted his gears which had not been aligned properly, my son was so happy.....and when I went to pay they didnt even charge me what absolute heros......support your local High St everyone they need it more than ever in these tough times
