I am a keen road cyclist and have been using Big On Bikes for servicing and repairs for the last 4 years. The service, turn time and communication are excellent and I have never had any issues. Another quality service they provide is a crash report for insurance purposes. If you are unlucky enough fall off your bike they assess the damage and provide a report that satisfies insurance claim requirements. I highly recommend Big on Bikes

Not having ridden a bike in 40 years I was apprehensive about turning up at Big On Bikes with my recently purchased (third hand), 2007, Giant Rock mountain bike, expecting ridicule for riding an old bike and being a fossil at 62. I have been using Big On Bikes for 3 years. The team has always been friendly, been quick to offer advice and provides advice when asked. The quality of their workmanship is first class. They have done my road bike 3 times and my hybrid. When I have taken them out after the service the ride is always better, gears re-tuned, all bearings checked and greased etc. The parts that are replaced are always shown to me when I collect the bike and explanations given for replacement. Any replacement is checked (email / phone) before the work is done. A brilliant service and I would never go anywhere else.

Another great service by Big on Bikes. I knew my six year old MTB needed some love but didn't realise just how much. I pointed out the areas that I thought needed attention but they texted me a couple of times to point out issues that I had missed. Took my bike in for a general look over after it had been stuck in the garage far too long. Got it back promptly with a few vital parts renewed. I felt confident that my bike was running as smoothly as possible and most importantly was safe - a great job!

I contacted Dave when my road bike started mis-shifting just before a race with an issue I couldn't diagnose at home. I'd just moved to the area and was still finding my way around. Dave was very welcoming and honest - he told me that they were very busy and couldn't guarantee they would fix the issue before my race, so gave me the option to bring it in right away, or wait for the following week and have it fixed between races. The issue was better but not totally fixed the next day, which I spotted on my ride home, so I took it back and they were very apologetic. They took another look and fixed the issue for good the same day. The price charged was very reasonable compared to bike shops I had used in the past. I won't hesitate to go back in the future. **Updated after a repeat visit with a different bike** Dave did a fantastic, and surprisingly quick job at rebuilding my shifter. A spring has snapped, and Shimano don't sell a replacement part. The shifter is around 4 years old and no longer manufactured, so getting one new would have been a nightmare. Dave was happy to take on the work and confident he could fix the issue, which was not an easy fix. Despite being really busy they turned it round in 3 working days, earlier than expected. And on top of that the repair was cheaper than expected. I've just increased my rating from 4 to 5 stars.

Great bike shop. I have used them twice, first to repair my front hunt trail wide wheel which they did really quickly and for a reasonable price. Took my friends DT Swiss 26" MTB wheel to be rebuilt and was desperate to get it done fairly quickly. Big on bikes performed a sterling job. The frame had an odd offset that I was not aware of so when this was collected and finally fitted to the frame, it had to go back to be re-dished. This was no problem for the shop and they sorted it quickly without fuss. There isn't many places to go for good quality bike maintenance in Derby these days so it's great that they're there. If you need any maintenance doing and you want it done properly give them a go. Thanks Dave I'll be back when I need to use you again. Nick

Dave & Simon are bike fixing experts. I have 3 bicycles which have had a fair bit of work done on them recently. They diagnose and fix the problem quickly. They have removed buckles & trued my wheels to perfection. My mountain bike is now riding better than when it was new and my old Raleigh hybrid has been restored to its former glory! Good sized water bottles too! I have had dodgy bike repairs from other bike 'repairers' so now I only use Big on Bikes. When I trundle out of the workshop I know that I have a safe, repaired, trustworthy bike.

I was lucky enough to win a prize of a voucher for use at Big on Bikes at the Little Eaton Carnival this year. For individuals like myself who have no interest in bikes apart from riding them, Big on Bikes is perfect. Any problems or something needs tweaking I just drop it off and leave it with them. Open seven days a week which surprised me but made life easier, they've sorted out crashed ones and botched home repairs gone wrong for me so nothing has been straight forward and they've all come back perfect. Would have no hesitation in recommending them, just straight forward, good, no hassle and job done!

I had a very small but very urgent repair needed - I didn't think they'd even consider, but they absolutely did and had it done for me no problem. Was really great service and will definitely be seeing them again.

Had a snapped and badly damaged chain during a local spin. Unable to repair at the roadside. Had spent what cash I had on me on a cuppa earlier. ( lesson learned... always carry a card)!!! My mate told me Big on Bikes was about a mile away. What a friendly and trusting gent Dave was. I explained my situation and he still fitted a new chain within minutes even though I had no money on me and took my word that I would return with payment later that day. In recent weeks big on bikes have fitted a new press fit bottom bracket and headset on my mtb, done a lower leg oil change on a fox fork, rebuilt a Mavic mtb rear wheel hub and also fitted new bearings into a hope rear road wheel. I normally do most of my bike work myself but some stuff is just too complicated or risky without the right tools these days especially on top end carbon frames. I was really happy with the service and everything is running as it should be again. Big on bikes were recommended to me. I would happily use them again and recommend to others. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly giving good advice when needed.

Been using BoB for about a year. Other shops gave really poor service and high prices. BoB give great advice, very quick turnaround and will work with you. Prices are competitive and great to see a recent expansion. They only do service ,so specialists in this area. Always helpful and my roadie mates have been on recommendation with good results. Had pivot and both hub bearings done, BB services , brakes, gear stuff, crank issues all fixed. Good to work with.

I'm refurbing a Bianchi Mega Pro - the majority of it was pretty shot but the frame was worth saving, and a few other bits. After the re-spray, I needed help fitting the new headset, existing bottom bracket and re-building new wheels on the hubs. Dave and Simon were great. One hub turned out to be shot, but the other could be salvaged. The wheels are fantastic - exactly the style I was looking for (Pacenti polished aluminium rims). Really happy with their advice and service.
