Great, fast and friendly service! I was texting with Lewis on a Wednesday and booked my bike in for upgrade of my RS fork to the new 2019 Debonair Spring (which I only found out on his Fb page), he ensured the part is in the shop by Friday. Kosma, the senior mechanic who is very friendly and seem very knowledgeable & experienced about any bike stuff, did the upgrade and lower fork service, plus bottom bracket service, oh and he sorted out a wee noise on shock mounting ,... all done within few hours! (bike was originally scheduled to be collected on Saturday) By the way, Lewis sorted out the needed upgrade kit even though he was away on holiday! I will definitely be back again next time my bike needs any service/repair! I would very highly recommend Bike & Spanner!

I have just been into Bike and Spanner to rectify an issue where I had tried to fix something on my bike myself. The guys had a quick look, identified what I had done wrong and sorted out my headset in less than five minutes. They were also helpful with some other advice advising me on the correct parts to order online. This level of friendly service from a local independent bike shop is what distinguishes them from the retail chains. Bought a bike from them. As there was no bike shop in England that had any decent cheap bikes in stock. Once I get the bike I will update the review. Finally Got the bike. But gears weren’t working properly so I took it to a local bike shop who charged me £20 to fix the issue. Found some scratches on the bike aswell. Still waiting nearly 2 years later for a T shirt they promised to send me from Scotland. I’ve given up waiting. I’ll look else to buy a bike next time.

Bike & Spanner have been amazing. Trying to get hold of a decent MTB during the pandemic has been incredibly difficult - B&S pre ordered a bike for me before it came into the country. Even when there was an issue with the distributor meant I was sent the wrong size Lewis somehow managed to find a Large and get it reserved for me in the next delivery to the UK. Throughout the whole process B&S where super friendly and out to do whatever they could to make things right for me. It's hugely appreciated. I've been out riding everyday since the Large arrived, it feels amazing. Bike was delivered well packaged and safely with fast delivery and it had been set up flawlessly. Thanks B&S!

Great wee shop and very friendly staff. I went inside the other day because my pannier rack kept coming off loose and they fixed it all right there and then for free, despite them being busy on a different job. They took time to explain what the issue was (the frame hole for the screw had been eroded) but they came up with a solution and and put new bolt and nut for it. Very pleased with the service! If you have a bike and you need help with it - this is the place to go! Lewis was so friendly and so helpful at putting my new bike together for me. I used the collection and build service which was ideal for me being new to the bike world! It was a really quick turnarond meaning i could enjoy my bike straight away. After it was built Lewis also helped talk me through the bikes features to make sure i was safe and helped kit me out with a padlock. I cannot recommend this business enough.

I was in urgent need of a set of replacement Fox fork lowers after my son snapped his pair after a crash. Spoke to a guy called Conner on the telephone who was very helpful, and was told to allow up to 10 days for them to arrive. After 2 days, the fork lowers arrived! I contacted Bike & Spanner about a full service (YT Capra) and the possibility of a collect/pick-up service. Lewis picked my bike up from my house the next morning and dropped it back again 2 days later - amazing customer service!! The service itself was spot-on, too: it’s obvious that the guys know what they’re doing and take pride in their work. My bike came back spotless, shiny and running like a dream. After Long time not having my bike serviced looked for good bike shops around the area so came across Bike and Spanner, greeted by friendly guy called (Lewis), gave me a detailed explanation of services they do, was happy to take on full service as the bike not been seen for long time, came back to pick up bike was amazed by how good it was bike was like new, we talked about some biking stuff over a complimentary coffee. Helpful and fast. Needed a small repair done that I don't have the right tool for. Phoned 4 other local shops and was told they couldn't look at the bike for at least 3 weeks. These guys fitted us in the same afternoon. It was fixed in 5 minutes and cost £5. Saved me an evening of frustration dismantling the gears and probably buying £40 of new tools

Even at the height of the lockdown when bike shops are under pressure like never before, Bike and Spanner couldn't have been more helpful. The bike I was after wasn't in their stock but since they were a Commencal dealer I asked if there was any chance they could order it. Jagoda replied immediately and I placed my order there and then. My wife and I took our mountain bikes into Bike & Spanner after being let down by another supposedly ‘high-end’ bike shop down the road in Stockbridge. I explained to the other bike shop that I wanted a proper finalized spec and invoice before work could commence, yet after 3 weeks I didn’t have this and the bikes were just sitting there. The owner was laid back, friendly and had a fancy coffee machine but at the end of the day I was paying a lot of money for servicing and upgrades to both bikes and I was very clear from the start about my expectations. It was therefore very frustrating that they didn’t listen and act upon my requirements. Communication and speed of service was a real issue. I decided to go with Bike & Spanner on the strength of reviews, and my expectations were totally exceeded. We took the bikes into the shop on a Saturday and left them with the head mechanic, Kosmas. He was clearly extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. However, as I’d already drafted an email with my requirements, I said it would be easier to just send that over and left the bikes with him. Kosmas said that Lewis (the owner) was not in but he would get back to me soon which was fine. I didn’t expect to hear anything until later the following week, but was amazed that Lewis sent me a really detailed and helpful email reply the next day (SUNDAY!) outlining a proposed spec and schedule. More impressive still was that he addressed EVERY specific point and question I had raised and said he could have the bikes ready in a week! I really felt that I was being LISTENED to and valued as a customer. Lewis kept me informed all the way through the process, which the other bike shop had failed to do. When I picked up the bikes, I was blown away! These were high-spec but older mountain bikes, but they genuinely looked 100% like new, if not better! The care he and Kosmas took over the work was more than you would expect they would take over their own bikes. This was matched by the service, communication and friendly down-to -earth attitude.They even threw in one upgrade for free, and offered free services for the bikes again within 6 months! The bikes are now better to ride than they were when they were new and we can’t wait to hit the trails again! I will never consider using any other bike shop as long as I live in the area - this is how you go about getting repeat business! After years of being let-down by different bike shops, I’m so pleased to have finally found one I can rely on. I can’t imagine you will get this kind of service in any other bike shop in Edinburgh, so I can whole-heartedly recommend Bike & Spanner, regardless of whether you are looking to get your bikes serviced or are looking to get a new one - these guys will look after you. Thanks Lewis and Kosmas (and sorry for taking so long to getting around to this review)!

The team here are first class. They propose the most economic way to get your bike back into shape, and don't just suggest that you replace anything that is even slightly worn. My bike is now running sweet as a nut. Since Grease Monkey at Roseburn stopped servicing bikes, this is now my preferred maintainer. Many thanks.

Had my Mondraker Dune Carbon xr in for a black service with full bearing replacement and shock service (the works basically). You might think your biking is running well but what a difference. I have been running the bike now for 6 weeks since the service and its still as good as new or actually feels better! These guys know what they are doing and I would not hesitate to bring top end bikes (or other) in here for any work. I was also pleasantly surprised with the reasonable pricing.

I visited Bike & Spanner looking to purchase a bike for my son. The guys talked me through various models in the shop as I'm not very educated when it comes to bikes. I then decided to buy a bike which arrived only two days later. Lewis asked if my son could come along to collect it to enable him to set the suspension to his weight. Also to show him various set up options. We were advised that we receive a free service with the purchase which is fantastic. It's the only bike shop in Edinburgh I will use from now on.
