Super service, I popped in on a Saturday and despite being busy Derek took time to look at my bike, fixed the problem and also fixed my gears at the same time without me asking! Very reasonably priced too. I will be back and feel I can trust Him to do a good job with my bike.

Excellent! Constant punctures have driven us insane. Even though we'd stated we kept getting the same problem at two other bike stores neither gave any guidance other than telling us it was our decision. Came to Blackhall as I didn't have time to go all the way into town and received the exact opposite. Straight off he gives me the option of the two strongest tyres to choose from and the pros and cons of both as well as advising not to use the lever to finish getting it on to stop the risk of damage. We also thought a new wheel was needed as the spokes were damaged. Response? Simply no, we can easily get the spoke fixed, bring it in! Brought it in the following day and he'd done it in less than an hour of me leaving. The tube I'd been getting was the wrong valve and all along the other store had been telling us it was meant to be presta! No wonder we'd been getting so many punctures. The valve had never been secure. Didn't make me pay for the other type, just simply swapped the right for wrong. Amazing! Never going to be going to the other stores now. Blackhall is definitely our go to.

This guy was a ride saver for us. We were riding a week long tour of Scotland and on day 5 the side wall of my tyre failed. The door of the shop was locked when I arrived, but he opened up and fitted a new tyre for me straight away so we could continue our tour. He also checked and increased the pressure in my other tyre as it had lost some over the last few days. Great service! Thankyou very much!

I went in to see Derek with a bike that was desperate for some TLC. I came in to the shop with no booking and was able to get my bike back the next day. When I rode my bike home from the shop I was so pleased with the results of the repairs. It felt like an entirely different & new bicycle. Super happy to have found my new local bike mechanic.

This is due for a couple of weeks now. Derek was very kind in fixing my gear cables just straight away and he did it in a couple of mins, as it only needed to be adjusted ever so slightly. He didn't charge me anything and he also put some oil in it to assure it functions smoothly. He seemed really helpful!

Popped in on the off chance that Derek might be able to help. My gears were jumping all over the place. I had only picked the bike up from another bike repair shop the day before where a whole new set of gears and shifters had been fitted. Derek took a look and saw that the work done was not of good quality. He stepped in sorted the problems and the bike is now running fantastic and no charge. Got a broken spoke and warped back wheel on Friday evening cycle. Phoned shop at 11am on the Saturday, dropped off the wheel at the shop at 11.30am and repaired wheel ready to collect at 2.30pm. Excellent service and a very reasonably priced repair. Would highly recommend.

A hidden gem! Having used many of the other bike shops in Edinburgh was refreshing to find Blackhall Cycles. A few of us were riding the John Muir Way (150 miles) and the gears of one of us became a problem. He popped in to see Derek late in the day without a booking. Half an hour later all problems sorted and he was on his way again.Flying! My bike had suffered from the bashing it received during our ride. A week later I carried out most of the work but needed some more expert skills and special tools. Off to Derek who sorted my problem, checked out the work I had done, greased various parts (properly) and gave me a properly roadworthy bike back again. Tomorrow phoning to make appointment to have new cassette (the rear knobbly sprockets) and a new chain fitted, replacing those on bike when I bought it 6 years ago. Will nip next door to Cafe Citron while I wait. Only problem with Blackhall Cycles is he is too cheap (honest).

Problem with rear wheel whilst on a weekend break. Took wheel to shop and owner Derick had it stripped and rebuilt within 15 mins. Fantastic service , friendly and didn't overcharge. I only wish I had a bike shop like this near my home.

We cycled (with my toddler) to ravelston woods and when we unlocked our bikes, ready to return home, realised that something had gotten broken, probably in the locking and we couldn’t cycle anywhere. Panicking a little, we found blackhall cycles round the corner, and the guy went out of his way and it was fixed in no time. Very relieved and very thankful!

Had a nightmare of a cycle to work in which I went through both of the spare inner-tubes I carry with me and still having to push to the nearest bike shop which turned out to be this one.
