I've been going here for 3 years and always had a great experience. I'm fairly sure the staff fixed more than they told me or let me pay for so can't thank them enough. Regularly borrow the pump or ask for help with small things (my bike lock the most recent which they fixed in 30 seconds without charge). Strongly recommend

Great small bike shop with very knowledgable staff who don't try to upsell- was quoted 200 pounds for a repair at a different shop in town after experiencing a minor issue- came into The Cycle Service & they noticed a twisted link in my chain which was causing my problems. 30 minutes and 8 pounds later my bike was running perfectly- will be coming back here whenever I need work done!

Got a puncture around Arthur’s seat / Hollyrood park and this was ten only place nearby. The lady working there was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The replacement was done in 15-20 mins for just £9.50 and she took the time out to show & explain to me what caused the puncture. Will definitely use again!

Fantastic service. They sorted my bike out within 2 days, much sooner than I expected and they fixed the problems I was having with it. Been in a couple of times. First to fit brakes and a new inner tube, excellent service and great communication. Gave me a text saying it was ready to pick up 2 hours later. Second time to get my pedal crank tightened up, the lady working there kindly did it for me for free and offered great advice about keeping it in a good nick. 10/10 would recommend. Great experience all round. My out of the box new bike needed setup for use; derailleur and brakes needed adjusted/refitted, and generally fine tuned before getting out on the roads. High quality work, helpful service and value for money.

Staffed by folk who love bikes. It's a small shop so they don't stock as much in the way of parts or accessories as a big chain, but they know their stuff and are open late. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend for servicing or advice. And they sell spray.bike paint, which, as a serial tinkerer and bike tart, is great.

The staff are so friendly,helpful and accommodating! ( they took my bike very short notice). The service on my bike was top quality!. ( my bike is old and part siezed so they couldn't replace part they did a temporary fix and did not charge me as they could not replace part however what ever they did do it is amazing to cycle for the time being!.) therefore ld have to say The standard of work and value for money was outstanding!. I could not recommend this bike shop highly enough!.

Popped in after work 5.30pm and although both staff were working on bikes they were able to squeeze me in and fix my brakes and cables within the hour. And the price was very reasonable as well. Fabulous bike shop: I definitely prefer to use the Cycle Service over other shops in Edinburgh! Excellent prices, the best service - had a full service by Hannah yday of my commuting bike - she ended up having to replace quite a lot, but phoned to check before doing anything we hadn’t discussed when I dropped him off (the bike - affectionately known as the Dromedary). Now feels like a new bike (and he wasn’t new when I got him). Cannot recommend them highly enough!!

I've always had really great service at the cycle service! I always go in gung ho for a really expensive fix that is never really necessary. They always find a way to gently tell me that my ideas are silly (my words) and then they fix my bike for a fraction of what I anticipate spending. Very trustworthy folk! also if you have your brakes for 26 years maybe get new brakes if they are not working? I don't know that much about bikes but if a professional suggested that I would think it's sensible.

Packing light on a journey to Edinburgh, I left my multi tool at home and needed to tighten my headset. The lovely staff loaned me a tool without batting an eyelid and were very friendly to a non-paying customer. This really gets my vote! They have a cool shop with an open workshop area and lots of nice kit on sale. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone in the South Bridge area of town. Thanks guys!

Excellent experience with these guys, was recommended to use them through a friend, and they met and completely exceeded expectations. Walked in off the street to ask them to sort out my brake calipers, which they duly did within 24 hours. Might have expected a rush job on that turnaround time but they had gone the extra mile in fixing my headset too and letting me know of other any other issues I'd want to watch out for, and any which I could fix myself easily (something I appreciated a lot as I enjoy mucking about with the bike) - these issues were something another local bike shop had not found / bothered to tell me about after a full service a month or so earlier.. Very friendly and good to talk to, great value for money, with very useful opening hours. I've spent a lot of money in a lot of bike shops, and these guys are a clear margin above the others I've been to.

This may be a new shop but these guys really know their stuff. I've used them for both my classic road bike and new mountain bike. The road bike had some strange hub bearing issue and they quickly diagnosed and sorted it. They're like your classic wise old hands back street proper service joint but without the grey hair and beard muttering. Reasonable prices and super friendly service too. I have used the Cycle Service on a number of occasions now from small jobs to full services and my experience has been consistently excellent with brilliant customer service, great communication and quick turnaround from Chris and Hannah. Most recently, Chris specced up and built a custom bike for me. Chris met and exceeded the remit that I had in mind (a bomber commuter that wouldn't embarrass itself as a fast road bike)- he came up with the perfect solution for my requirements, better than I could have imagined was possible. Fantastic and highly recommended.

You won't find a better place for your bike! It's a small startup founded by people with love for all things bikes. They are super knowledgeable and incredible at what they do. I've been to many shops around Edi, but I always keep coming to this one. Definitely would vouch for it.

What a service. Heading to the Commonwealth pool on bike and rear casset came loose. Popped into the Cycle Service and feared the worst. Couldn't have been more wrong , super friendly staff who took wheel off and fixed problem in minutes, also fixed a niggly fault had on gears in seconds and never charged a penny. (where another bike repair shop that I won't name,but wasn't very CO-OPERATIVE!!! mentioned it would run into hundreds for new shifters etc) Thank you so much, The Cycle Service i will be using this shop for all my bike services in future.

Took my bike in for a profoundly non-standard piece of repair work(hint: it required hacksaws) and it was done that same afternoon to a gollygoshdarn high standard. I've known the staff for years from their previous shops and their work and advice has always been top notch. They do that lovely thing where, if you walk in and say you want Glamorous Expensive Component A but Cheaper Frumpy Component B is just as good for your needs, they'll suggest you buy B. It's a terrible business model, but as a customer I think it's ace.

Phoned around 11 am to see if I could bring my bike in to replace a shifter cable, was told to bring my bike in and it should get done the same day. Had a text around 1 pm to come and pick up my bike, fast, friendly and good value service.

Having seen The Cycle Service mentioned on the CCE forum I looked up their Facebook after failing to book my partners road bike in elsewhere for a service. By chance, it was their opening day but Hannah and Chris promised they could sort out a service when I phoned them at 8am that morning. The Dolce had given us trouble for years - it's initial setup and two subsequent services had never managed to get the rear brake working correctly as the geometry of the cable stops on the small frame forced the rear calliper to one side. All the cables at the front were too long and rubbed on the wheels and the shifting was sluggish. After a few thousand miles of commuting it was in need of a new cassette and chain too - Chris wins points here for being very clear about how much life was left in what we had on the bike but we were keen to replace it as we will be doom a sportive this summer. They also win on communication - they wanted to put a better quality cassette on but phoned first to confirm and check our preferred ratio. They had also highlighted the rear brake may be tricky and suggested a short length of Nokon outer to provide more flex between the cable stop and brake. Chris spent quite a while trying alternatives before phoning me to check it was ok to fit this and got an excellent price on it with a price match at his supplier. It's the first time the rear brake has been able to properly stop the bike as now the calliper a can be spaced correctly. The servicing they did was top notch as was all the cable replacement and new grip tape. All the components they fitted were brand names, good quality grades and priced very reasonably. They've also invited us back to check the cables for free in a few weeks if they stretch further on the bike. Whilst I do a lot of bike maintenance at home I couldn't beat the service and prices offered here and it's saved me at least a day of effort. I'll certainly be taking our other bikes back to them in the future. I couldn't recommend them more highly!
