Special little company that deserves all the success they can get. Tim and Sarah built a Mixte bike for my wife. To be fair, it wasn't the quickest or cheapest process (took over 6 months) but a lot of that was down to Covid-19. In any event, the attention to detail, the parts, the accessories, the build, the paintwork are all great - and we're pleased with the outcome.

Really unique shop with a classy character, both Tim and Sarah are really helpful in building my Shorter a few years ago and getting parts together for a new track build. Highly recommend them are any bicycle related stuff!

Chapeau! A total pleasure to deal with Sarah and Tim, even if by mail order. Prices are generally cheaper than most other retailers in their niche and they are more than happy to give advice after sale as well. If an issue arises, they let you know and they solve it. There's a lot they haven't had time to put up on the website I believe, so defiantly ask them if you're after something, since they may have it! Cycles and cycling components, sourced and sold by cyclists who love cycling!

My experience of Isambard’s Cycles is extremely positive. The bike has already given us a lot of fun and memorable, not to mention, comfortable rides on both road and trail. I recently purchased a 1984 Peugeot Canyon Express from them, for the sole purpose of carrying my young son, and his toddler paraphernalia. The process of buying the bike and the additional front rack was extremely easy, and they were even able to have it delivered to my local bike shop in East Lothian, where it could be fitted with a child’s seat. Isambard’s used to service my bikes, when I worked in Shoreditch, so I was already aware of how seriously they take vintage bikes, and vintage was my logical choice this time around, in terms of quality, value for money and eyelets...only hugely expensive heavy tourers and cargo bikes, seem to have sufficient eyelets nowadays for attaching front and back racks (and probably mudguards in the future). I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending these guys.

I had such a pleasant experience at this lovely little bike shop today. The most helpful and kind staff I have come across in a long time. Not shy of giving advice, sharing knowledge and made me feel very comfortable even though I am clearly a total novice. Sorted out the issue I was having with my brakes and even made me a nice cuppa while I was waiting. Recommended to anyone and everyone. Fantastic selection of bikes too! Absolutely outstanding bike shop, great repairs, easy to deal with and really quality stock for sale and for upgrades. The difference between a local shop like this and some of the big high street outlets is they’re not trying to gouge, they always follow up and are happy to tidy up any little post service squeaks etc. I don’t even work near here anymore but I’m happy to go out of my way to bring my bike for a proper service to people I can trust.

It was so refreshing to be greeted by two people who were honest, very knowledgeable and quite lovely. Having not owned or bought a vintage bike before I was wary that I could literally be taken for a ride on the price.... However Tim and Sarah both made me feel very comfortable, were upfront on all costings and not once did they try for a hard sell... I left with complete confidence that in two weeks time I'd be collecting my first custom vintage cycle, exciting! Upon my return I was greeted by my new steed. The workmanship and care that went into the build was incredible and after a few tweaks I was riding away a very happy man. New to cycling and wanted to take my second hand bike for a service - really liked the fact that they provide a bespoke quote based on an assessment of your bike Vs set prices other shops have. Great value, advise and all round service - ended up being the same price as other shops but included parts. Will return again.

I wanted to write this a while back but I forgot. I brought my purple vintage Peugeot tourer in to have both wheels replaced a month or so ago after being bandied about by a couple of other bike places (my bike is old and the wheels are an odd measurement). These guys took a look, immediately offered me a couple of options at a very fair price and I decided to have both wheels replaced and fitted with brand new ones. Fast forward to only 2 days later and the job is done: brand new shiny wheels and so far, solid as houses. I feel so happy to have found a bike place that I can trust and rely on...not so easy in East London... and will definitely be returning. Thanks guys!

Went in with my other half to look at her fairly knackered bike, they gave an honest, non-patronising explanation of everything and clearly laid out options in an email - really good for non-experts who want things explained and to think about cost before committing to anything else. Even though it needed new cranks in the end they fitted some budget ones, didn't charge any extra than quoted, done on time and all seems well. So thumbs up from us - good service, and customer service! Nice one lads.

I am very tall, spent a looong time looking for a suitable size frame. They had one in store, not only that but it was a beauty, very unusual lugwork and people have been asking me where I got it ever since. Very reasonably priced. They're friendly and expert. I use them for servicing (3+ years) and they always go the extra length to get the job done, they know what they're doing. Highly recommended.

I recently stopped by to drop off my bob jackson for some maintenance work, I had quite a specific list of jobs but the mechanic (Tim) knew exactly what I was talking about ! which is cool :) I really appreciated the fact that they kept in contact with me via text whilst the work was being carried out to update me. My bicycle was given back better than ever, I even got to test ride it before I paid. When I took the bike home I noticed that my seatpost had been greased with anti cease without me even asking - it really is the small things that count. Like many others, I believe it's important that small shops with genuine people like isambard's still exist. I've been to brick lane bikes which is a couple of hundred yards down the road, but don't be fooled by their fancy branding and shiny stock - I'd recommend Isambard's over any shop any day. I will be back with my others bicycles v soon :) thanks guys.

Five star advice and service from Sarah and Tim. A delightful place with owners that clearly live and breathe vintage bicycles. They, along with Takashi (mechanic supreme) and David (Colour Tech), oversaw the restoration of my godson's 1970s Holdsworth Mystique.
