Special little company that deserves all the success they can get. Tim and Sarah built a Mixte bike for my wife. To be fair, it wasn't the quickest or cheapest process (took over 6 months) but a lot of that was down to Covid-19. In any event, the attention to detail, the parts, the accessories, the build, the paintwork are all great - and we're pleased with the outcome.

Really unique shop with a classy character, both Tim and Sarah are really helpful in building my Shorter a few years ago and getting parts together for a new track build. Highly recommend them are any bicycle related stuff!

Chapeau! A total pleasure to deal with Sarah and Tim, even if by mail order. Prices are generally cheaper than most other retailers in their niche and they are more than happy to give advice after sale as well. If an issue arises, they let you know and they solve it.
There's a lot they haven't had time to put up on the website I believe, so defiantly ask them if you're after something, since they may have it!
Cycles and cycling components, sourced and sold by cyclists who love cycling!

My experience of Isambard’s Cycles is extremely positive. The bike has already given us a lot of fun and memorable, not to mention, comfortable rides on both road and trail.
I recently purchased a 1984 Peugeot Canyon Express from them, for the sole purpose of carrying my young son, and his toddler paraphernalia. The process of buying the bike and the additional front rack was extremely easy, and they were even able to have it delivered to my local bike shop in East Lothian, where it could be fitted with a child’s seat.
Isambard’s used to service my bikes, when I worked in Shoreditch, so I was already aware of how seriously they take vintage bikes, and vintage was my logical choice this time around, in terms of quality, value for money and eyelets...only hugely expensive heavy tourers and cargo bikes, seem to have sufficient eyelets nowadays for attaching front and back racks (and probably mudguards in the future).
I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending these guys.

Had a bike built by Tim - bike turned out exactly as I wanted and was a great experience, communication top notch and good Price. They have a great eye for detail. Would recommend to anyone - great use of cycle to work scheme.

I had such a pleasant experience at this lovely little bike shop today. The most helpful and kind staff I have come across in a long time. Not shy of giving advice, sharing knowledge and made me feel very comfortable even though I am clearly a total novice. Sorted out the issue I was having with my brakes and even made me a nice cuppa while I was waiting. Recommended to anyone and everyone. Fantastic selection of bikes too! Some real pearlers in there and I don't just mean the bicycles! Thanks again! :)

Absolutely outstanding bike shop, great repairs, easy to deal with and really quality stock for sale and for upgrades. The difference between a local shop like this and some of the big high street outlets is they’re not trying to gouge, they always follow up and are happy to tidy up any little post service squeaks etc. I don’t even work near here anymore but I’m happy to go out of my way to bring my bike for a proper service to people I can trust.

Isambard's are brilliant, the shop is beautiful in itself and the people who run it helpful, kind and extremely knowledgeable about bikes. They were kind enough to put my bike together on the day I'd asked in spite of parts arriving late. Superb service and very nice people. Definitely recommended!

It was so refreshing to be greeted by two people who were honest, very knowledgeable and quite lovely. Having not owned or bought a vintage bike before I was wary that I could literally be taken for a ride on the price.... However Tim and Sarah both made me feel very comfortable, were upfront on all costings and not once did they try for a hard sell... I left with complete confidence that in two weeks time I'd be collecting my first custom vintage cycle, exciting!
Upon my return I was greeted by my new steed. The workmanship and care that went into the build was incredible and after a few tweaks I was riding away a very happy man.
I'd recommend these guys to anybody who's looking for a new bike,
and the new premises is LUSH

New to cycling and wanted to take my second hand bike for a service - really liked the fact that they provide a bespoke quote based on an assessment of your bike Vs set prices other shops have. Great value, advise and all round service - ended up being the same price as other shops but included parts. Will return again.

A must visit if you are into classic bicycles. Excellent bicycle shop, super friendly owners / staff. Turnaround quick on repairs and very reasonably priced. Great for those new to cycling looking for advice and for those that are looking for a rare part. Great selection of classic steel frames from the 1940's onwards. 5/5 no questions.

I couldn't recommend Isambard's enough. I just had my custom bike built by them and I couldn't be happier. They listened to my needs, answered all my bycicle novice questions and built the exact bike I wanted. Sarah and Tim are super knowledgeable, super friendly and provide a great service. Thanks so much!

I've never experienced such care, attention to detail, honesty and such a complete sense of personalised craft. They are so passionate about bicycles they invest a lot of focus and love into the work that they do. The most wonderful bike shop experience I've ever had.

This is undoubtably my favourite bike shop in London. Tim and Sarah built me my dream bike about 6 months ago and I haven't looked back. Everything about riding it makes me happy, how stable and smooth it is, its agility and speed and also how beautiful it looks. Their personalised and professional service is like no other I've experienced. A 10/10 for me! I literally recommend this bike shop to everyone I know. Thank you Isambards!

I wanted to write this a while back but I forgot. I brought my purple vintage Peugeot tourer in to have both wheels replaced a month or so ago after being bandied about by a couple of other bike places (my bike is old and the wheels are an odd measurement). These guys took a look, immediately offered me a couple of options at a very fair price and I decided to have both wheels replaced and fitted with brand new ones.
Fast forward to only 2 days later and the job is done: brand new shiny wheels and so far, solid as houses. I feel so happy to have found a bike place that I can trust and rely on...not so easy in East London... and will definitely be returning. Thanks guys!
M. R.
Super friendly, super skilful and very knowledgable, with a genuine love for what they do. Prices are fair, and Tim and Sarah turned work on my bike round really quickly, with minimum fuss. Been cycling for 14 years in London, this is the best shop I've used by a mile.
M. C.
I walked into the shop with a very specific set of requirements and had not been able to find a bike that ticked all the boxes. After a few minutes chatting to Tim and Sarah it was clear that they not only understood what I was after but also had the perfect solution. I couldn’t be happier with the end result and really feel that the bike has been made solely for me. Superb service from start to finish.
N. G.
Very good , friendly service. Definitely went the extra mile on my old bike, although not literally of course. Tim even lent me a wheel so I could get home while he fixed my own buckled front one. Highly recommended
R. B.
Superb service from Sarah and Tim who patiently answered all my stupid questions and gave me great technical advice on components and choices before building a bike exactly to the spec I wanted. Would highly recommend going in for a chat if you are looking for a vintage steel framed bicycle - either built up from the ground or from their in store stock.
T. N.
Easily the best bike shop in East London. Always going the extra mile, always trying to do the right thing towards their customers.
First time I used their services they were the only ones who took on the work, when others said I'd need to spend a lot more and buy new parts.
Recommended any time.
W. M.
best bike shop of all time. tim and sarah built me a stunning custom vintage bike for my daily commute. they're really friendly, honest and straightforward to deal with and their prices are very fair and reasonable. highly recommended if you're looking for a beautiful classic bike.
a. r.
love this shop. polite and helpful staff. drop my bike at lunchtime to replace a spoke. was ready couple of hours later. same price as agreed on the phone earlier on. would definitely recommend
O. S.
Went in with my other half to look at her fairly knackered bike, they gave an honest, non-patronising explanation of everything and clearly laid out options in an email - really good for non-experts who want things explained and to think about cost before committing to anything else.
Even though it needed new cranks in the end they fitted some budget ones, didn't charge any extra than quoted, done on time and all seems well. So thumbs up from us - good service, and customer service! Nice one lads.

Can't get better. These guys really know there stuff and have an amazing selection of frames. The whole shop is classic bike porn. Great coffee and friendly staff who can build you a beauty or get your current ride tuned up to perfection

Best bike-shop this side of London.
I live locally and have used as many as 4 in the area. Isambard's is superior in every way. Friendly, knowledgeable and cheap.
They've sorted several problems for me without accepting payment although clearly deserved.

I am very tall, spent a looong time looking for a suitable size frame. They had one in store, not only that but it was a beauty, very unusual lugwork and people have been asking me where I got it ever since. Very reasonably priced. They're friendly and expert. I use them for servicing (3+ years) and they always go the extra length to get the job done, they know what they're doing. Highly recommended.
J. H.
Best bike shop I've encountered in ten years of cycling around London. Amazing people, service, workmanship and fairly priced. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
C. D.
These guys are spot on. Personable service and you know they are giving you a fair and very good value price for their work.
Have had an inner tube / tyre replaced on a couple of occasions and it has always been done swiftly and with care.
Highly recommended!

I love Isambard's Cycles so much I don't even know words. The degree to which they were thorough, thoughtful and enthusiastic about building the exact bike to suit my needs was as amazing as it was refreshing. Beyond friendly and beyond quality- cannot recommend them enough <3
N.
Great bike shop. Really helpful and caring staff. Lovely classic frames.
An absolute godsend after far too many trips to shops like Evan's Cycles

I recently stopped by to drop off my bob jackson for some maintenance work, I had quite a specific list of jobs but the mechanic (Tim) knew exactly what I was talking about ! which is cool :) I really appreciated the fact that they kept in contact with me via text whilst the work was being carried out to update me. My bicycle was given back better than ever, I even got to test ride it before I paid. When I took the bike home I noticed that my seatpost had been greased with anti cease without me even asking - it really is the small things that count. Like many others, I believe it's important that small shops with genuine people like isambard's still exist. I've been to brick lane bikes which is a couple of hundred yards down the road, but don't be fooled by their fancy branding and shiny stock - I'd recommend Isambard's over any shop any day. I will be back with my others bicycles v soon :)
thanks guys.
M. G.
Fantastic experience - cannot recommend highly enough. Very happy with my custom built bike and all the service I have received from Sarah, Tim and the team
S. C.
Tim and Sarah's friendly approach first encouraged me into Isambard's. Their eye for detail and preservation of classic British frames has meant that after a custom build and a re-fresh my other bike, Isambard's will be the only bike shop i'll ever need! Thank YOU!
R. C.
The most humble and informative bike shop I've come across. Sarah, Tim & whatever staff they have in on the day are always happy to discuss, explain & advise on any project or purchase regardless of scale, budget or prior knowledge.
j.
Love the staff, love the shop, love the work they've done to my bike! Had some great experiences there, Tim knows what he's doing and his lady friend at the front desk is awesom!
R. E.
Massive thanks to Sarah and Tim for sorting me out with my gorgeous new vintage bicycle. They are both so friendly and Tims indepth knowlege on vintage bikes is fathomless. Enjoyed a great coffee too!!
J. W.
Isambard's is THE best. I'm super happy with my bike, everyone there is really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend the shop to anyone looking for a bike with character!

Five star advice and service from Sarah and Tim. A delightful place with owners that clearly live and breathe vintage bicycles. They, along with Takashi (mechanic supreme) and David (Colour Tech), oversaw the restoration of my godson's 1970s Holdsworth Mystique. This was a present for his 21st and he was absolutely thrilled with the result. If only there were more cycle shops like this one!
O. F.
From start to finish both Sarah and Tim worked closely with me to custom build the most perfect Pinarello at a good price. It’s a beautiful shop and I would highly recommend Isambard’s personal touch.
A. M.
Excellent service from Tim and Sarah. Super friendly and very skilled. Was close to writing off my Dads 1970 Claud Butler off but a couple of days and a very reasonable price later it rides better than ever.
G. E.
Brilliant. Couldn't fault them. Excellent service - honest and freindly. And the they made me a really amazing bike. If you want a bike, GO HERE.
L. H.
Always super helpful and knowledgable. They look after all my bikes, my vintage steel frame, track bike, cx bike and carbon race bike. They keep all my wheels true, answer all my silly questions and are great value.
N. B.
Really nice people, very knowledgable, patient, honest and fair. They have a great range of frames and parts, can order pretty much anything in and are keen to make sure people are happy with why they buy. Great coffee too!
L. K.
Highly recommended. They organised the restoration of an old steel frame by a specialist and built it up again in their workshop. Tim and Sarah were always communicative and helpful. The results were fantastic and I will use them again.
M. D.
Great Place. Really friendly, no hassle and very well priced. Dont usually review things, but if I have any other bike needs I dont think I will go anywhere else.
J. J.
Top bike shop. They've moved just up the road to a super location opposite Brick Lane. Always love this place as they are so helpful and friendly and really know their stuff. Wouldn't go anywhere else to get anything bike related.
P. C.
Tim and Sarah are simply fantastic. Their care and personal touch took me from concern that I'd be without my main transportation for a week to elation that I was back up and riding quickly and affordably. Tim even offered me a coffee while he worked. Here are before and after shots of the knarly fork mess I made and the beautiful fix. Thank you both!
T. G. C.

Friendly, efficient and reliable.
Questions are welcomed and are answered in an easy to understand way. If a part isn't in the shop a replacement part will be sourced from a garden shed in France or from suppliers within a number of days.
Options are given, discussed and there is no pressure to purchase.
If your'e lucky you may even get to sample the store made 'Brunel's Ice Coffee'!
S. C.
Always a friendly, quick and reliable service, it’s gotta be one of the best independent bike shops in London.
