Reviews of The Hanoi Bike Shop

Having been here a few times (at least 4) now I can say the food and service are fantastic. I’ve mostly had the banquet option to get a variety of the dishes and have yet to get something I didn’t like. The waiting staff are always friendly, welcoming and make time to chat. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone!
R. I.
Amazing food! I absolutely loved it. Will definitely be back. Staff were helpful, nice and I would highly recommend. Thank you!
Beef Pho and the shaking tofu are the main courses we had (pictured)

Good environment, friendly staffs
We came during lunch, it is quite busy, there’s plenty seatings indoor and outdoor. I recommend the baby pho and banh mi combo, the portion is more than enough for one person. I didn’t love my pho, i ordered the spicy one and its a bit oily. But banh mi is definitely worth a try! It has an egg and meatballs and salad between a bagel looking bread, it is tasty.
Really nice vibe as well.

Great space and loved the exterior but the Pho didn't blow us away, tofu was too hard and uninspiring drinks menu. The vermicelli noodles and daikon cakes were good though.
Z. M.
Lovely environment and friendly staff. The presentation of the food is really nice. The flavor of the food, however, is rather disappointing. We had four people and ordered the banquet with a wide range of food. The only thing that I kind of enjoyed is the fish. Coming from an Asian country with a British family and living and working in the UK for many years, I would say this is Asian food with western taste, very different from my impression of Vietnamese food. I noticed there weren't many Asian people in the restaurant at the start. I didn't like the food but my British family were singing the praise of it. I found that the food was overly salty and the flavors were not well balanced.
I had a great time because of the fantastic company but don't think I would come back anytime soon...
K. L.
Great food, nice feeling surroundings, lovely friendly staff. The red wine was great too. We had the soyabean daikon cakes to start then Pho and they were all delish!

I’ve never met anyone that has had a bad word or a complaint about the food at The Hanoi Bike Shop. The food here is phenomenal and I love every time I come here. We had a great time. Thank you.

Some of the best Pho I've had since living in Hawaii. Huge portions for an amazing price, staff is super friendly and there's a reason you need to book because they're busy for a reason!!! I don't have pictures of our food as we ate it so quick, the pork shoulder skewers and pepper tofu were incredible. I had chicken pho at an 8 spice, perfect to give you a tingle with the flavor still there, husband had beef pho at a4 to 6 and he ate almost the whole bowl. It was so hard to choose just one dish, but this is definitely a new favorite spot!
A. D.
Wanted to try something Asian and wasn't disappointed. My pho was humongous, I was struggling to finish it but it was sooo good.
The 4 on the spice scale was spicier than expected.
Place is cozy and quiet, good for a first date with Asian girl

Went here with friends on the 12th of May (very delayed review). We had a really great time, the atmosphere was comfortable and lively at the same time. The food was incredible! We were served by Clora, who knew the menu inside and out, gave perfect recommendations and was very accommodating to the vegans in our group. Service from Clora and the kitchen was speedy. We all enjoyed our food (see pictures) and once again I cannot hype up the vegan options enough - Will defiantly be back!

Pretty good Vietnamese food, the tofu (in the Pho) has a strangely fragranced tea-like taste. Personally wasn't a huge fan of that. But the drinks were delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful!
S. K.
Found this place by accident and happy we did! Staff were super friendly from walking through the door. The food was incredible, well presented and great portion sizes! My partner got something a bit too spicy (made the wrong choice by our own fault!) and the staff were more than happy to remake it which really made us love this place more. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food ( 3 starters, 4 drinks and 2 mains) and service. Could not recommend Hanoi Bike Shop, enough!!
C. B.
House made tofu is unbelievably good. Super nice staff and an awesome location with shops nearby. A must eat and see!
N. K.
Fish cakes were a disappointment at £9 for 3 tiny cakes! The dipping sauce was phenomenal though. I think the dish was only worth £5 tops.
Camel chicken was £16. Tasted good, but I don’t think it was worth £16.
Tofu was a massive portion and well worth the £9 for the size.
Staff were pleasant and service was quick.
Costs have gone up everywhere, I get that. But here on the whole I felt it was over priced for the food you were getting.
A. M.
We were here on Sunday with 3 rowdy kids.
The staff were great. Service was super quick - surprisingly so. We ordered quite a bit of food too. Everything was lovely. Kids enjoyed theirs. Vietnamese is one of our favourites and we've eaten at many restaurants here and overseas. One of the kids didn't love the Pho - thought it was too fish-saucy. But everyone else loved it. Middle kid gave it two thumbs up! Impressive!!

I've been wanting to visit The Hanoi Bike Shop for many years but I'm sad to say I was a tad disappointed however overall, didn't have a bad experience.
We shared 5 different dishes between two of us, all of which were gluten free and vegan, which was fantastic. We rated 2/5 dishes really tasty and well done - I'd definitely visit again to eat them, but the other 3 lacked flavour and weren't worth the money - I.e. the two tofu dishes and the green veg. I've had better in other local places.
Other than this, the staff were lovely, my cocktail was nice and the venue looked great. In saying that, there was an odd smell but I'm not sure if it was just the food from the kitchen but I sometimes got a wiff of what smelt like wet dog.
Despite this, I'd definitely visit again now that I know what I like from the menu and what's not worth my money, in my opinion.
J. E.
Sooo the pho was pretty yum, I ordered the tofu & mushroom without extra ingredient, level 8 spicy. The soup was tasty, and the fried tofu also yum. It was bit greasy thou you can see from the top of the soup. In terms of level 8 spicy it turned out not that hot. I am a person not having spicy food regularly so was expected it to be super hot.
Anyways, good one recommended if you’re interested in pho or Vietnam food in general 😋
S. E.
So tasty. Yes, we know it smells but that’s what you get when you make your own tofu. Vegans should be used to the yeasty/umami/fermented whiff that follows their lives around by now. Not cheap but so worth it. Lemonade was tangy and greens amazingly garlicky. Tofu with tomato and mint was a taste sensation.
n. b.
Food was tasty though the portion size a bit awkward I was advised not to order rice as my dish had rice in but I could have eaten a little more Service attentive at the start of the meal but slow at the end. I'd have had a pudding if I'd been able to catch the servers eye more promptly but after waiting 29 mins or so just went for the bill. Seating is a little cramped together.

I tend to gravitate towards healthy, fresh and delicious Vietnamese/Thai food and Hanoi Bike shop hits the spot for me. The dishes are wonderful balanced between the meat proteins and the vegetable garnish. The layering of sweet, salty and citrus seasonings are perfect. You feel satisfied, full and yet refreshed after the meal. Lovely ambience too. Owned by the same owner of Ubiquitous Chips and I will advise to book for a table in light of Covid-19 situation. We had a pint at the bar in Ubiquitous Chips before dinner.
S. H.
Gorgeous food. We were sat outside whilst not ideal in November, the waitress ensured we had a table with a heater! Full marks for being allergy aware also.
F. A.
Pho was great!! It's fun trying out the different levels of spiciness
m. b.
Made our way here thanks to the many excellent reviews.
And we didn't regret it. After looking over the very vegetarian friendly menu (I reckon about half the dishes at least were naturally veggie and vegan) we decided on the mysterious 'surprise us' option.
And for £22.95 per person, the dishes kept coming. It is rare for me not to manage to poke everything down, but the generosity was such that I had to admit defeat.
Every dish was unique and different, and exceptionally tasty. My daughter and I argued about which were our favourites, proving that each dish was excellent.
So I add another 5 star review to the hundreds already posted. Let's hope it stays this good for many years to come (if climate change doesn't get us before then)
J. m.
Staff were excellent, a small issue was very professionally and helpfully dealt with. Good sized portions and an enjoyable evening. Love Vietnamese coffee. Thanks
J. D.
Front of house staff were good. Let down by disorganised kitchen. That said, food was very tasty. Generous portions. Well worth a second or even third visit.
C. R.
One of the most courageous and innovative dining experiences we’ve had in a very long time. Have eaten Vietnamese inspired dishes all over the world, but never like this. 10 stars. Delicious combinations of flavours. Takes deep care and attention to craft meals like this. These photos of our food don't do justice to the flavour. Great service + a bit of that funky old school Asian street vibe in the heart of Glasgow. Go!
H. A.
Went for lunch and ordered chicken pho, soya daikon cakes, shrimp crackers, wok fried greens and the pork belly red dragon dish. The pho…it comes out looking absolutely beautiful but it is very impractical. The Pak Choi is raw and mostly there for decoration (but the broth wasn’t hot enough to wilt it slightly). The bowl was about 60% beansprouts which even after I’d attempted to scoop out had seeped into the broth so all that I could taste were beansprouts. The noodles were brittle and hard as well as there not being many in there. I will say the chicken thigh was cooked well, very juicy - just wish there was more of it for £13 a bowl! The pork belly was nice, the rice cakes they come on were lovely but the sauce was overwhelmingly sweet. Wok fried greens were okay, very watery - not how they used to be. The daikon cakes :// these used to be my favourite thing on the menu but they don’t even look the same anymore. They were still tasty but completely different to how they used to be and VERY stodgy. Pre-covid I loved coming to Hanoi - they had so much to offer and the food was amazing. I’m not sure what’s happened over the last couple of years but it’s just not the same. It’s a shame - it really was so good!! On our visit today the staff were lovely and welcoming, can’t fault the service! I didn’t catch their names of the two girls on today but thank you, you were lovely:)
S. K.
The venue and ambiance are actually quite nice. It is a bit small but cozy. But the service felt a bit rushed and the food and cocktails were not anything spectacular.
E. W.
This is my favorite restaurant in Glasgow. They serve some of the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had. The menu has something for everybody and there is no such thing as a bad dish here. The “Feed Me” option is one of the greatest things I’ve encountered on a menu, the staff selects items for you and they are all delicious. Staff are all super nice and helpful and the interior is awesome.
T. T.
As weary Asian-American tourists, we were craving some tasty Asian food and Hanoi Bike Shop largely delivered. The soybean cakes were salty and tasty, served with a large portion of green onions and fried onions. The pork belly and rice cakes were well fried and paired with a great green salad, although a bit drowned in the slightly too-sweet sauce. The pho was good as well. It wasn't particularly authentic, per se, but it really hit the spot, and a great plus was staff was friendly and attentive.
P.
Whenever someone asks me for my favourite restaurant in Glasgow, I recommend them this place. So many delicious vegan options beautifully presented. The interior is gorgeous as well and staff have always been very friendly and fast. The rice pudding spring rolls they had as a special dessert once are one of the best vegan dessert I‘ve ever had, I wish they were on the permanent menu!
R. L.
Looks more like a bike so than a restaurant. Rustic decor well created. Menu careers week to vegetarians and vegans unlike other places. There are choices beyond tofu. I liked the soya/moong cakes. Main dish was a bit sweet. Vietnamese coffee is enjoyable. Quick and friendly service.
P. T.
Ambience, food and service ... will make you feel you are at Vietnam .. I had been waiting for days to be there. And I enjoyed it . My friend and I had the street food - fish cakes, prawns paper rolls (too delicate), salt and chilli squid and fried tofu - what a delight!
T. L.
It is recommended to order 2 mains and maybe 3 sides. The idea here is to share with the people at your table, so be sure to try out. There is the option to tell the staff to make the selection for you as the menu is a bit in the complicated side. We ordered the pho, fried cauliflower, the glass noodle salat and the fried squid. The Pho we ordered with 7 out of 10 spicyness, which was just right for someone who likes really spice food. I would recommend dialing it down one notch to be on the safe side. Almost everything was just brilliant. Full of texture, color and various flavors. The two things that keep me from giving out a straight 5 star rating is the cauliflower and the price. The cauliflower was off. I don't know what spice was used in there exactly, but it was overpowering everything else, so you could not taste the cauliflower at all. It is quite pricy to eat there, the portions are fair though.
A. S.
Love the decor and the vibe, great staff and lovely food, wok fried greens and the Pho was amazing. Wouldn't have the black pepper tofu again, just the whole dish for me was strange, really hard shell on the tofu and the sauce was sticky and really sickly, just no. But apart from that everything else was lovely and I will definitely be back.
J. S.
Stopped here for lunch at 11:50 it was empty. By 12:00 it was pack. Local gem. Really nice selection of food. Lots of little dishes to share meant we got to experience most days of the menu.
The kids loved it and the staff were great about the mess we left!
We sat outdoors at the front, but there was also nice seating inside and a beautiful balcony.
Highly recommended for. Quick bite or full meal.
Thanks guys!
G. G.
Went here for my mates birthday (6 of us), place is quite cramped but doesn't affect the experience, rather made it more authentic. Choose carefully if you've never had Vietnamese before (which was the case with us), we chose a few dishes and shared them meaning if you didn't like something then one of the people your with is bound to like it. Lovely staff and a good atmosphere.
R. T.
Food and cocktails were impeccable. Decor was on point (having visited Vietnam the year before). Waiting staff were very friend and helpful. Would 100% recommend and use again.
M. G.
Absolutely loved it here. Ordered a selection of dishes and everything was superb but their crispy pork belly was by far the best thing we tried. Definitely coming back again when am next in Glasgow.
C. L.
Really great experience all around. Food tasted so good and authentic. Service is friendly. Atmosphere is warm and casual. Pricing is a little steep at about 20 GBP per person but it's so good I didn't care.
I. A. P.
What a little gem
So I have been to The Hanoi Bike Shop 3 times so far and we never been disappointed
I absolutely love how cosy the restaurant is, it can get very busy so please do book in advance, i love the deco it is rustic
The staff is always so careful and pays attention to what we need
The food ! OMG it is super hard to choose what to eat so this is where the staff become clever little helper
They offer a "banquet" it is call "feed me " where they will chose 5 dishes for you and just feed you ! what more can you ask for right ?
The staff will ask about your diet as the offer a vegetarian menu AND a vegan one too !
So this last time we got greeted by some prawn crackers and peanut sauce ( that was new)
A bowl of Jasmine rice arrived followed by some spicy sticky chicken
This time round i asked for some tofu , the Hanoi Bike Shop proud themselves to have homemade tofu ! , what a choice it arrived in a tomato sauce , and i understand why they are proud of it , simply loved it
some mix vegetables arrived next
we then got served a big bowl of broth( broth may not be the right word sorry) with some dumplings
We finished the meal with some fresh mint leaves tea
I will add some photos of the previous time too
I can't recommend this fantastic place enough , seriously if you have got somewhere new to try in 2019 or somewhere to go back , make them your choice
M. Y.
Hanoi Bike Shop was great and I would definitely go again. Service is quick and my meal was delicious. To top it off, prices are very reasonable. Pictured: Prawn chips, spring rolls, summer rolls, aubergine, and the pork belly.
a. c.
Unfortunately the food lacked depth of flavour. The pork belly was served in a broth that I could only say tasted like honey and water. I'm sure things can get better!
K. H.
Had the Vegetarian Pho which was really yummy. I like that you can add extras and chose spice levels.
M. N.
Whilst I loved finding a modern vietnamese restaurant, the pho although smelled great from around the corner, was nowhere near rich enough. Everything else was great, iced coffees, prawn crackers, vermicelli salad, spring rolls and chilli glazed pork, but the nem nuong and pho were needing much more flavour. The restaurant also smells heavily of fish sauce when you come in which can be off-putting to those who aren't familiar with the smell. Service was good!
P. F.
Tasty food, generous portions, attentive and friendly staff and a fantastic location/stylish venue. Selection of spices for all tastes.
M. H.
This is a fantastic Vietnamese Street Food place. I had chicken pho it was delicious, spices to order, super fresh. My wife had ginger chicken and loved it. Superb tofu too. We've previously done the banquet too and it was substantive and very tasty. Highly recommend this place.
J. D.
When the waiter arrives just say "Feed Me". Lovely way to eat, just let the chef decide. We went for a pescatarian vibe with 10 plates brought for 3 people which was plenty. Delicious interesting flavours and the staff were fantastic. Will def be going again.
J. S.
Amazing service and great decor (very fun and good for photos). Sadly the food was a big let down. The Pho was extremely inauthentic, I am not quite sure what they were going for. It lacked most of the fragrant herbs of a good Pho and instead was a bland and yet overly sour soup.
If these guys can improve the food they would have something very special, as it stands this place is hard to recommend.
S. D.
Got treated here for a birthday lunch. Very delicious! Never had vietnamese before, I'm converted! Highly recommend. Have gluten free and vegan options too.
C. D.
This place was awesome. We went with the "feed me!" option which was a great choice, the staff basically chooses your dishes based on your dietary requirements. The food was a bombardment of flavours that complimented each other so well (squid with watermelon, who would've thought). The staff was great, the person who served us (she's the one planning to make the vegan coconut ice-cream) had such an incredibly warm and friendly attitude. She had a deep knowledge of what was being served, combined with culinary history of Vietnam and surrounding areas. Oh, and the coffee and the ice-cream! Yum!
Totally impressed.
N. V.
The Hanoi Bike Shop was a cool place with some great flavor. Their pho was very tasty and had almost everything the perfect bowl needs. The staff was friendly and helpful, they were happy to split an entree for my wife and I. Only room for improvement lies in the noodles for the pho! Everything else was 5/5 stars.
B. H.
O M G. This.is a lush! Definitely a must visit! We'll definitely be.back soon. The food.was fabulous, fresh, extremely well.seasoned and.staff very helpful and happy! Love this place!
C. B.
What an amazing place!! Fantastic food and fantastic staff. Would recommend eating there to anyone who has a mouth!
G. H.
Quite a departure from the traditional Vietnamese pho and is closer to Thai and Chinese flavours in taste. Service was slow and underwhelming.
A. B.
Excellent Vietnamese restaurant. Highly recommend asking them to pick your food. We went for a feed me deal anf we got to try some amazing food. The staff are amazing and there is a good selection of beer. Definitely one to try if you are in the area
R. S.
I had the duck leg with coconut curry. If was amazing. Soo many different flavors. The staff was sweet and the place is very cozy.
S. M.
Have been visiting this restaurant for many years, however shrinkflation seems to have taken hold. The measliest piece of fish in the Ca-Ri curry left me feeling hungry.
E. L.
One of my favorite restaurants in Glasgow! Delicious vegan options! Been here 3 times and the food is oh-so-good. Their temple tofu is flavorful, but my ultimate favorite thing on the menu is their daikon cakes!!! So good!! Highly recommend this spot for both vegans and non-vegans.
s. R.
Huuuuge bowls of pho, fantastic sides and a nice chilled atmosphere.
U. M. G.
Pretty surprised with the banh mi and the pho. The baby size is more than enough for lunch and prices are competitive.
D. B.
It’s nice and cozy place with delicious food and stunning interior. Portions itself are a bit smaller then we expect and you cannot find out how big they are until you’ve got your food, but everything we tried was very delicious.
M. T.
I liked the diversity of options on the menu with lots of small, medium and larger dishes to mix and match, and a great variety of vegeterian and vegan options. Great flavours and textures overall.
S. G.
Interesting menu in a hidden restaurant. Fast service, interiors look interesting. The food is solid, but don't expect too much. I didn't see any Vietnamese people working, perhaps they are hidden in the kitchen?
E. P.
I had the Vietnamese rice rolls and coconut tofu with roasted peanut sauce. They tasted good, just the tofu dish was way too expensive (8 pound) for eight(!) small pieces of tofu. My friend had the pho, this was quite good and reasonable for the price.
S. W.
Beautiful little restaurant that satisfies my Vietnam cravings - reminds me more of Hoi An than Hanoi! The food is fantastic and authentic. If you've never eaten Vietnamese before, the "feed me" option for 4 is a brilliant way to be introduced to the various different dishes that Vietnamese food has to offer - just remember which dishes you like for next time as the dishes they bring out differs from visit to visit!
If there's space, request to sit up stairs amongst the lanterns!
P.
First time trying Vietnamese food and it was unreal. Staff were lovely, atmosphere was great and food was insanly good. The balance between heat and flavour was perfect.
R. O.
Brilliant food and the best service for a super value. It’s a best kept secret!
J. C.
Two of us ate there for a main course, cocktails and sides. Quick, super fresh meal, interesting setting and amazingly reasonable price. It'll be a regular for us now.
A. M.
Brilliant place. Incredible food and super happy and helpful staff! The pho was possibly the best I've had, and the sides and dessert were super good. 10/10 experience
J. H.
Great vibe, brilliant food - I had the beef pho with a couple of extras. Music could have matched the mood better though!
R. K.
Hanoi bike shop has converted me to eating Raman and I never liked Raman ever before but now I'm going to order it everytime and I cannot wait to go back to Hanoi Bike Shop! Since my visit I am now ordering ramen every Asian restaurant I go to but Hanoi bike shop's is still the best. The only reason this review did not get 5 Stars is because the staff always seem a little bit upset and stressed.
E. T.
Amazing street food. Quick service and excellent quality dishes. Great lunch spot.
M. P.
Food is tasty, although a bit overpriced. The atmosphere is juice but the service is suuuuuper slow, we waited for over 1h for our food today and another 45mins for the bill:/
J. G.
Amazing food. I had the Pho Nam, Thai crackers and the salt and chili squid. Couldn't fault any of it. It's a very busy place so would maybe look into booking a table next time.
G. D.
Service excellent, food fresh, but a bit bland. Bags of character and having not being to Vietnam seemed to be authentic. Hidden gem!
Z. T.
Brilliant little place! Really enjoyed the decoration and the whole atmosphere. Staff were really polite and easy-going and a food simply amazing! Definitely worth a visit.
B. R.
The crackers and peanut sauce to start shiuls not be missed. Neither should the homemade tofu and superb cocktails. An excellent place, fantastic food and lovely staff too!!
C. L.
Spectacular new menu! Food was packed with flavour and delicious!
E.
Wonderful. Tasty tasty food. Pleasant staff , Interesting surroundings.
A. G.
Great food and service.
C. S.
Nice staff, good service, but the pho tasted a bit like it had spoiled
L. S.
The ambiance is so cool. Little hipster paradise with SUPERB food. Small though, so you'll probably have to wait in a line. Come here if you want to feel hip while eating awesome food.
L. M.
Was here from Ireland on Saturday with my wife and kids. I thought I'd booked a table for 4 but didn't realise I hadn't completed the booking. Fortunately they had evidence of my incomplete booking and were very sympathetic. They were totally booked up but kindly accommodated us outside under their heaters. The food came out very quickly and was absolutely superb. This was my second visit and on both occasions I left a happy man. Looking forward to my next visit already. I'll make sure to confirm the booking next time.🙄
P. S.
Absolutely fabulous flavours! Had a mix of vegetarian, fish and chicken, all great!!
I. L.
If you are a pho lover, you will be disappointed.
Undercooked noodles, lukewarm broth with lack of flavor😕 Broth should be boiling hot.
M. D.
Fantastic and attentive young staff, meticulously pleasing customers needs. Drinks were an alternative, my spiced gin had chillies in it which was a first for me. Two small dishes of pork shoulder skewers and mussels and two medium sized dishes of duck red curry and lamb mince accompanied by Jasmine rice were to die for. Absolutely gorgeously prepared and promptly polished off. Panacotta and sorbets to cleanse the palate sent us back into Byers Road for a well earnt walk. Highly recommended!
W. G.
I am by no means an expert in Vietnamese food, but I really enjoyed it here. Worth booking!
C. G.
This place is so good! The garlic and sesame greens side dish was the unexpected highlight, but the rice cake main thing I ordered was amazing, as was the squid. It was all amazing 😂
A. P.
Nice cozy little place , nice food and very attentive staff ..
Very recommended
I'll be Back .
Z. S.
We always try I make it to Hanoi Bike Shop when in Glasgow. The smells of Vietnam (the good ones) hit you right in the nose when walking in.
Then there are the flavors. So hard to choose what to eat. Go hungry and order the platter where they pick what you eat. That’s what we will do next time, which can’t come soon enough.
a. b.
A disappointing visit on this occasion. We've been many times and generally love the place. Last night left us disappointed by a number of things. The service seemed a little all over the place. It didn't help we heard managers discussing staff performance, it was neither the time nor the place. Quite ironic considering the organisation was haphazard. The toilets were disgusting and hadn't been cleaned. Urine and toilet paper over the floor and a hand drier that didn't work. We expected more and it delivered less. It means we will be looking for new places to eat in future.
r. g.
Ran out of their famous tofu the day we visited :( but I guess this just shows how incredible it is. Hope to try it next time. We still stayed and had the veggie pho bowls though!
The waiting staff were really lovely.
J.
We arrived at the Hanoi Bike Shop with much anticipation, joined by our Vietnamese friend. The decor is superb, beautifully decorated. Ordered the spring rolls - delish, followed by a beef pho, average, and my wife got the red duck curry - excellent. I asked for a Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk and got a classic iced coffee - disappointed. Our food arrived quickly and the service was good.
G. W.
WOW! First time and will be back. Great staff and amazing food! Brilliant place.
A. P.
What an amazing menu, unexpected tastes and unique dishes. Busy place with a great vibe and friendly staff. The whole fried fish was my favourite. Definitely check this place out.
A. S.
I have been to Hanoi Bike shop probably 5 times in space of last 2-3 years. I feel that food in the past was much better and more authentic. On our recent visit we had a mix of plates, but weren't blown away with the flavours. The service was attentive and the area outside is really welcoming. I will try to give it a go one more time at some point in the future.
M. M.
The ambiance of the restaurant is so nice. It's a bit small but the day we went it wasn't crowded so it was okay. The food is very good but the portions are very small. They recommended you to take few plates and share. This is what we did and it was enough for two. We tried the rice paper spring rolls, prawn crackers, crab croquettes (I forgot the exact name), jasmine rice and satay tofu.
W. Y. H.
A charming restaurant with ample atmosphere. They do their own tofu from scratch that really hits the spot. The tofu of the moment was absolutely delicious. They have a good array of vegetarian and vegan options. The staff were friendly and helpful!
M. C.
Very nice food but not as spicy as you think it's going to be. I like, but don't love, spice so I had a 6 spice and I could of probably gone for an 8. Other than that very good and staff were very nice too.
H. M.
Lovely food and accommodating staff, very reasonably priced
S. M.
Lovely place with real authentic food. The decor is simple and pleasing to the eye. The food portions were much bigger than I was anticipating which was great. The ability to choose your choice of how spicy the food is was a great addition too, really allowed everyone from the shy of spice all the way up to those adventurous lot who need a fire in their belly to enjoy the food.
A. C.
We shared the banquet option and it was lovely! The brocolli was a stand out dish
L. P.
The best Thai food I’ve ever had! We did the vegan feed me menu and it was incredible. We usually wouldn’t have been able to finish that much food, but it was just too good to waste.
Lovely, helpful staff. Super cute place with a great vibe.
3 months on and I’m still dreaming about this dinner!
A. T.
All vegan options we tried were delicious. I was happily surprised by the butternut squash in coconut creamy sauce. Lovey lychee lemonade. I will visit again when I am back in Glasgow.
H. B.
Quite an interesting restaurant. You feel like you're in the Far East for real. Food and service were good. Next time I'm there I'll make my own choices from the menu instead of choosing the "feed me" option, where the waiter chooses your meal for you. I mostly ate what my family members ordered from the menu themselves. We'll be back for sure.
K. D.
Do not quite get the hype around this place. For me the food was average and unfortunately the service over all was very poor.
A. S.
Amazing food as always! I some how messed up while booking the table so our booking hadn't confirmed 🙈 but one of the staff managed to squeeze us in which we were so thankful for.

A charming place resembling SE Asia. However I had mixed feelings about the food. FIrst, we got dirty unwashed bowls - and we had to ask the waiter to change them. The squash and the spring rolls were very tasty though the portions were small. But I was not happy about pho soup. The beef in it tasted foul, was so hard as if someone put it in the broth 5 mins before the end of cooking. And we got the coiainder, basil and lime only when we requested it, first it is not given to the clients. I was also disappointed I had to eat my pho from a plactic bowl and with a plastic soup spoon. I know some places in Asia serve it like this, but for God's sake if you pay 12 GBP for a soup it would be nice to have a ceramic spoon.
A. B.
Been coming here for a very long time. I have always had great experiences with the delicious food, good service and good drink options. The menu is so varied and interesting and changes regularly enough that you can’t get bored of this place. The homemade tofu options are incredible and probably my menu highlight. Their peanut and chilli dip is awesome, they should definitely sell it in jars and I would buy so much!
s.
It's hard to fault this place in terms of price point or quality.
For 5 people it was 90 quid and the food was amazing and there was plenty of it.
They have an offer for 22 quid pp and they just feed you. We did go for that but it sounded amazing.
Really excellent. Head into the ubiquitous chip for drinks afterwards which is also super
A. B. A.
Fantastic, would absolutely recommend the lunch Bagel and Pho combo!

Wicked place, stunning food,REALLY GOOD,had the Lamb Special.i Travelled tru Vietnam, but its the closest to the real thing.Top notch place

Recommended by a friend after hearing great things. Wasn't disappointed. It has become myself and my girlfriend's favourite place in Glasgow. Staff were great. Food was excellent. Cannot say enough good things about here. Highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic and tasty food as well as a great drinks selection.
S. R.
been 3 times now and never disappointed anyone I've taken there , food ,staff and atmosphere all perfect, order the banquet for 25 quid and they bring you new things to try , 5 stars every time 👍
S. C.
Beautiful food, friendly staff and tasty must try Vietnamese coffee.
O.
There's a good variety of choice, I loved the venison dish and sticky chicken, both had a nice sauce and side salad. I didn't like the spring rolls too much but others did.
C. T.
The restaurant's interior is so nice as there are bike wheels on the walls downstairs and upstairs there are mini hot air balloons floating. It is truly really nice. The food is Vietnamese and also really good. I ordered pork and beef spicy soup/ramen and it was really good! There was a lot of meat and the bowl itself was big so they are really generous on their portions. My friend and I had two mains and a drink and it came to just above £20. Really good value for money. The restaurant is tucked away down a side street in the West end of Glasgow. Defiantly worth the whole experience. Highly recommend.
R. G.
The prawn chips with the peanut dipping sauce were a nice rest before our meal. I had a delicious beef Pho while my wife had something with more vegetables. There was a good variety on the menu for different tastes, and although we didn't try an appetizer plenty of them were quite tempting. The staff for our table was great. My biggest problem with the meal was that the waitress for the table next to us spent, literally, all but about 10 of our visit chatting with her friends. I'm sure her friends felt loved but I can't imagine her other tables, and fellow co-workers, appreciated her choice. We'd go again in a heartbeat though and if we have her as our waitress I'd just hope she was having an off day.
S. M.
Lovely atmosphere, really interesting food that is delicious
k. r.
The tofu is great. Went on a Vegan menu day. The portions were generous and we couldn't finish them. Very basic tables and chairs. What puts me of returning was the overpowering smell of fish sauce? , ( I think?)....it was not a pleasant smell to be surrounded by when you're eating.
F. K.
Decor, menu variety, service and accommodations for special diets were admirable but in the end despite the appealing atmosphere the food was just okay. Some dishes were overcooked and underseasoned, others were gloppy or lacked complexity. The hard working crew should get more stars but not the food. Cocktails were tasty. Note, much of the seating is on backless stools if that is of a concern for you.
A. C.
Staff here are amazing. We had a vegan meal, the waiters we super passionate about the food and were really knowledgable. When we came in we were a bit lost with the menu so they explained how it worked and recommended a good number of plates to share and we were certainly not disappointed!
Would return with friends, on my own, with my wife, a truly recommended experience,
N. W.
Glasgow really doesn't have a lot of options as far as Vietnamese food is concerned and this is probably the best of the limited options, but having lived in Berlin, a place with a large profusion of excellent Vietnamese places for some reason, I have to say that this place wouldn't cut it if it had much competition- in Berlin it would be a lower-mid tier place.
I can't talk to authenticity but there's a certain fresh, clean lightness and clarity to the flavours of the best Vietnamese food I've eaten which this place doesn't really pull off. It's also pretty expensive for what it is.
It's enjoyable enough because Vietnamese food is fundamentally amazing but honestly the only reason I can say that this is the best Vietnamese place in Glasgow is the lack of competition.
J. D.
Vietnamese coffee was delicious and authentic. Service was very warm and friendly, knowledgable too. I had a chicken salad sort of dish. Very tasty.
Would definitely like to return!
K. G.
Great seeing and location. Good was good too, if Pho is your thing.
T. T.
Went here for dinner a couple weeks ago. When stepping in you’re hit with quite a strong smell of wet dog but throughout the meal you start to not smell it anymore haha. But the food was great, portion size was big and very well priced! The waiter was very kind to begin with, but forgot to bring the cheque at the end even after asking 3/4 times. Also there is an option to get your food away in a doggy bag which is a great option!
A. W.
Great food and great atmosphere. Rustic dining experience I really enjoyed. Food was exceptional and included great vegetarian and vegan options, good portion sizes as well even for the small plates. Friendly staff as well. Will be back.
S. G.
Excellent food in a great location, right opposite Hillhead station. We couldn't decide what to order so asked 'feed me' - it was an excellent choice. We were brought several plates of pescetarian-friendly food by helpful, friendly staff. We got to sample several different things but my favourites were the bean patties and the dumplings in broth - absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh and seasoned with bright, fresh herbs; we had more than enough, it would have fed a group of 4 probably! There's outdoor seating in an attractive courtyard and the interior is pleasantly decorated with bike parts and tools around the colourful walls. All round great place to spend an evening in the West End
S. J.
Good friends, good food, good atmosphere, great experience. This was described to us as"Vietnamese tapas" and we had the buffet option for £22, so it's not cheap but it was fun. The waitress chose options for us and we loved everything she brought out to us.
Definitely recommended.
J. F.
Heard about this place from friends and decided to give it a try. So glad I did! The food is just amazing, we decided to go with the just feed me option, definitely worth a try and got a serious amount of extremely good food, every dish was better thanthe one before If you get a chance can go, you won't be disappointed!
J. P. d. O.
Hanoi is a nice and comfortable place. It currently has a terrace on the street.
The food and the service were good. I saw the organic tofu a bit pricy, it was tasty though
L. R.
Not the place to go if you really want proper Vietnamese food. Unfortunately this establishment spent more effort on making the ambiance of the restaurant feel "authentic" but are not able to make the food taste convincingly Vietnamese. I was expecting the broth for the classic beef Pho to be flavourful but it tasted more like a regular beef stock you get from stock cubes rather than beef bone broth made from scratch. This was the biggest fail for me. My husband had the chicken Pho and it was bland (it was salty enough but hardly any flavour from herbs and spices). Normally you would get a generous serving of fresh herbs and chillies to go with Pho but we were only given a small bowl between us. We had a few other dishes as well and they didn't quite make the mark either. It was almost a pass. I don't know if they fry their own prawn crackers but it wasn't made properly. Quite a few had uncooked patches. I guess the just chuck it into the deep fryer straight from the bag rather than making sure it's properly dehydrated by drying them in the oven first. In general the food is edible but not quite Vietnamese. I get that we were not actually in Vietnam but some basic expectations should have been met and Glasgow does have access to South East Asian food ingredients. It was a lot more Viet-fusion food.
Service was great. The wait staff was friendly. Unfortunately the food didn't quite hit the mark. Hence the 3/5 stars.
C. C.
I had their beef noodle hotpot and a few rice paper rolls. The noodle was excellent with a depth of flavours. The rolls were OK but the side salad that came with them were very tasty with sweet pickled carrots and minty garnishes.
The table was rather low relative to the stools so if you are tall, you may feel a little bit uncomfortable sitting.
The interior had bits of bike and some tools hanging on the walls, appropriate considering the name of the restaurant.
M. S.
Excellent lunch break on the first day we could get back in. Portion sizes very generous but no skimping on strong flavours of coriander, mint, chilli. Staff very friendly and helpful too. Highly recommend.
L. W.
Really fresh, unusual (by which I mean not super anglicised) food. I haven't always loved all my choices but the crystal rolls, pickles, beer and atmosphere are consistently superb. The homemade tofu is also worth going for. Overall a great place but consistency could be better e.g. Temple tofu was AMAZING the first time I had it, on a visit just a week later it was sickly sweet and tasted like the sauce came out of a jar. Weird.
J. M.
There were 7 adults and 2 small children in our group, celebrating my son's 30th birthday, from the moment we entered the Hanoi the waiting staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming, their knowledge of the menu was fantastic, we opted for the "can't decide just feed me" banquet, the food they decided to bring us was amazing from start to finish, a special mention for the tofu, I have tried this before elsewhere and didn't like it but in the Hanoi I cld easily eat it every day.
Has got to be the best eating out experience I have ever had. Well done and thank you to all the waiting staff and chefs.
D. C.
Absolutely amazing experience. The food was great and service was quick. Definitely will be back for more.
K. J.
Really cute place, neat decor. Place was quite busy when we went. Food was nice and super filling and very interesting menu. Would recommend the tofu dishes., very nummy. Washroom upstairs is basically impossible (blocked by too many tables) to get into when it's busy, so head downstairs.
N. C.
Fabulous, truly authentic vietnamese street food in a great setting. We chose the feast so had no ideas what dishes we would be served. All outstanding. Highly recommended. We will be back soon.

My partner and I visited this restaurant and we picked the banquet meal. Most of the food and flavours were lovely and the restaurant's aethetics looked very quirky, however the reason I rated 3 stars was due to the unpleasant smell of the restaurant. Improvements on this would have boosted my rating and overall experience.
c. o.
Absolutely gorgeous.... ordered the banquet as couldn't decide what to have. In the end our favourite was the one with the pork, even though neither of us usually order pork, it was perfect
C. J.
The food and service was excellent, the coffee incredible and environment really cool
P. M. S.
OMG! Amazing food (I am biased towards Vietnamese food even so amazing)!
100% recommend saying "Feed Me" and let the kitchen send you and your table through a magical food journey! It's fun and exciting and most of all delicious, all complimented with relaxed friendly staff and an authentic atmosphere ❤️
C. S.
Had a lovely meal today, food was excellent and the service was flawless. Would definitely recommend.
M. D.
Superbly tasty Vietnamese food, every dish we've ever had there has been delicious. Specials always tempting and don't disappoint. Not cheap, but worth every penny! Love it.....
H. W.
Really good quality food. Certainly different from what I had in Vietnam (as I was mostly on a budget there and mainly ate pho), however, this is the most authentic experience outside of Vietnam I've had.
I highly recommend the coffee with condensed milk.
I felt it was a little pricey as I wasn't full after my meal, but it was definitely tasty.
S. C.
Lovely place with giant pots of mint tea and excellent small plates of Vietnamese food. The home made tofu is lovely. There is a good-sized vegan menu. The one downside ,if you are sensitive to such things, is the place smelly very fishy. It bothered me for a bit but a hot cup of mint tea cleared my nostrils.
I.
But pretentious, but food was nice and flavours interesting
A. F.
The pho is great here but trust me, get the pork belly.
J. S.
Great banquet with selection of dishes, waitress Alex asked likes/dislikes and chose for us. Alex then called ubiquitous chip and booked outside table for us (we had the dog). Great service and evening out.
C. P.
Food was incredible. Dining here is an intimate experience with the restaurant, from the tight seating arrangement to the intimacy between you and your waiter. The tastes and flavours are a joy to enjoy and help you relax into the atmosphere.
B.
On a random night out in Glasgow, looking for some random food. We randomly found this place. I'm glad we did!! the flavours are an authentic asian fusion. The carrot, mint salad was amazing. The soybean cakes were beyond tasty. They also had a great local craft beer on tap. I would definitely go back here!
K. S.
We had the "Feed Me" option. £25 per person for essentially a Vietnamese version of tapas. Every single thing that we were given was out of this world. Light, flavourful and fragrant. Will be back as soon as I can!
T.
The vegan pho was very good and okra fritters were delicious. The restaurant itself seemed authentic and charming!
D. M.
Had the ‘Feed Me’ tasting menu - absolute bargain, use it to unlock secret dishes. Especially with the EOTHO scheme, you’d be mad not to get amongst it... get down here quick! Legit Vietnamese food - and I’ve watched Forrest Gump like 4 times, so I would totally know. Wink. But seriously, they make good food and the staff are lovely. One thing I’d highly recommend is the Squid with Mint & Watermelon if you’re not game enough to unreservedly let them feed you.
S. M. b.
3 stars go to staff, to enviroment, quirkiness and style. The food is good, filling, tasty and service is quick and polite. But there is something missing.. I can't put my finger on it, but you leave "almost satisfied". Purhaps, I am far too used to prime quality food in Italy and that's what I miss here in Scotland.. 30 quid between two, not excessivly full, but couldn't fill more!
M. M.
This restaurant has such a great atmosphere! The staff were extremely helpful in recommending dishes that fit your tastes. The food itself was absolutely amazing and was definitely some of the best I've had on Glasgow.
S. B.
Love this place, they make their own tofu on site which even hardened meat eaters love and try the delicious peanut and chilli dip to start. Staff are helpful and know the dishes really well. Can get quite busy at weekends so it's not somewhere you can linger for too long.
V. M. (.
Delicious food here (ox cheek stole the show, big shout to the sesame ricecakes too) Right amount of spice for me, hot but didn't melt my face off. Portion sizes were well thought out and very satisfying.
Liked the cocktails too, halong iced tea was fab.
Not 5 stars because as it is a smaller venue, if there's a large group they can end up dominating the room. Obv didn't ruin the meal though was slightly annoying at times.
All said and done I wouldn't hesitate to return and definitely recommend it.
C. L.
Just judging from the food, I have to say that I am very disappointed. It's just not authentic. However, all my non-vietnamese friends who have been there like the food. I felt like the pho broth was way too weak. Apart from the food, I appreciate the typical West End atmosphere in The Hanoi Bike Shop. The guests seem to be mostly international people, many of them students and the staff is friendly. So overall, if you do not expect authentic Vietnamese cuisine and just want to have a regular dinner with your friends, it's a good place to go to.
M. J.
We have been to Hanoi several times in Glasgow and enjoyed it thoroughly each time.
Service is prompt , kind, and eager to explain dishes.
Atmosphere is great, in the summer sitting outside on the lane can bring you back to experiences in Asia having street food!
We find the dishes to be creative and always satiating with plenty of flavour.
R. A.
Went in for a late lunch and ordered 2 bowls of pho. The pho is not very impressive if you're used to authentic Vietnamese food, but I think it was a decent amount of food for the price. We sat outside because the restaurant itself was stuffy and has a very strong fish sauce smell. Wait staff was friendly, although they accidentally undercharged us by a lot.
R. A.
Love the Hanoi! Tofu is amazing. Pho is amazing. The beer is amazing. Basically it is all amazing. Highly recommend going for the banquet option, you will not regret it!
c. d.
Amazing! a vegetarian feast for the senses! we were delighted with the food. So tasty!! the spiced gin is lethal!! I could have drank them all night:-)
v. b.
Such a cute location! All the food and the pho was amazing
G. L.
Beautiful food and amazing atmosphere, staff were a pleasure
R. J.
Staff were great. No frills dining room (I'm pretty sure I was sitting on a plastic toddlers chair) but the food is tasty. Went for the "feed me" option where the staff pick your food. Everything was delicious!
S. W.
As per other reviewers comments there was a weird smell as soon as you entered.
Sat on the balcony and was promptly attended to.
Food was delivered to our very little table and was ok.
My girlfriend enjoyed the spring paper rolls.
M. G.
Anurag and I started with the Sweetcorn and coconut fritters. Fluffy and delicious. I had their special fish entree and it was absolutely delicious. Huge portion size, and very hearty. The broth was the right balance between salty, sweet and tart - we inhaled it between the 2 of us. It does not come with a carb, so we ordered it with a side of the rice - much needed and made for a great combination.Anurag also had the seafood pho - there was no way we could finish the pho - we took it back to go. Chock full of seafood and very delicious.
A. D.
Just excellent! Food, staff, ambience, service. I'm not a big fan of tofu but they make their own. So I tried the ginger tofu and even that was amazing. Literally just pulled into Glasgow. If the rest of the city is this credible, I'm never leaving.
S. B.
The food was delicious and fresh! Not many choises for vegetarians... but a few ones. U can have tofu instead of pork. Staff was friendly :)
The only thing: food is already expensive for what u get... but paying extfa for rice in a vietnamese restaurant is strange... 2,60 a portion. Normaly rice just goes with the dish...
All in all still a nice experience!
A. V. D.
Delicious tapas style Vietnamese dining. Loved the laid back atmosphere and music. Only thing is the upcycled stools are not the comfiest for those that like to take their time, but overall its just part of the experience. Staff were friendly and very helpful.
A. X. P.
For someone that has been in Vietnam this place brought great memories, nostalgia and amazing food. So delicious. Staff really friendly, nice environment and great background music. Amazing place to have lunch on the West end. Recommended :)
K. J.
Such a nice place to grab a bite to eat. The portions are very generous and well priced and you will not leave hungry. The aesthetic of the location is absolutely gorgeous, a must visit if you are in the area.
N. G.
When we visited Hanoi Bike Shop we opted for the "Feed me" banquet option, told the waitress our restrictions/preferences and ate a delicious feast of vegetarian Vietnamese food. Every dish was amazing. It was a nice sunny evening so we were able to sit on the little balcony overlooking the lane.
J. D.
Just what we were after following a long drive. Cost just over £30 each with a few cocktails to accompany. Thank you Chloe for the great food suggestions and holiday advice.
A. C.
Can’t get cuter and quainter than this friendly little eatery that does it right and authentically.
N. S.
Very friendly waitress. My pho was lovely along with my cocktails. Beef was very tender. I've had more authentic pho but still the beef stock was lovely. Definitely going back. Cool interior.
G. M.
I loved this place. We opted for the 'feed me' choice. It was utterly heavenly. Curried banana was a revelation. Great value, great service, great grub. Go there and eat is my advice
M. B.
4 stars for the food. 0 stars for the service. Desperate to give you the bill. Slow to give you food, even slower to give you drinks
J. “. C.
We had a brilliant time for hubby's birthday. We went for the banquet and our waitresses choices were excellent the food was awesome and the staff are friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the food. We will definitely be back.
S.
Wonderful Vietnamese food and great deals. Cocktails were really nice and refreshing too. I would highly recommend their chicken wings and pork belly.
S. G.
The best Vietnamese I’ve had outside of Vietnam! The pork belly and beef pho had the most delicious broth and generous amounts of meat and noodles and the gin cocktail was unreal! We came on a Sunday night and were lucky to get a table as even at 8pm it was busy!
A. R.
Does feel authentic, minus the hot weather :). Food was nice (crispy eggs), spicy. Some nice bottled real ales as well. Will go back and try some other things on the menu.
B. G.
One of the best Vietnamese placez I've ever been in Glasgow. Basically, you can eat yourself through the menu and try everything, worth to do it! good news gluten free foodies, this place is made for us!
S. S.
Food ok. Service friendly, helpful and relaxed. Enjoyable meal. I think I expected too much due to reading lots of 5 star reviews.
My reviews: 3 meets expectations (normal, good score); 4 exceeds; 5 outstanding (rare).
A. M.
This is a truly fabulous place to go for something a little bit different. We did the 'feed me' option so we could have a taste of lots of new things and the food was incredible. Great atmosphere, really friendly and helpful staff and a genuinely quirky experience too. Can't wait to return!
M. L.
Nice food..Nice staff..unique eatery in West end of Glasgow..
C. J. T.
We had a mad selection off the menu and a couple of specials too. Service was great. Attentive and funny. The food was served quickly and tasted great. Fresh, clean and I loved the chilli level. As Arnie says "I'll be back"
D. L.
Awesome restaurant , especially if you visit with a group and share dishes.
R.
Great range of food, especially if ur vegetarian/vegan. All tastes so good and never fails to surprise me when I take a risk on a new dish.
M. B.
Lovely little gem. Hidden away in an alleyway.
Food was fantastic. Quite a busy and crowded place.
Best to book ahead.
A stones throw from Ashton Lane. Plenty bars there to go afterward.
Highly recommended. Would go again.
C. M.
As unique and genuine Vietnamese food that your likely to find in Glasgow. Really good food and drinks. Some chairs are a bit uncomfortable and the staff were ok but could be better. They could also do with some air freshener in there. Smells like old vinegar.
G. U.
The first couple times I have been there was great. We could not wait to come back but in the last year something must have changed the food quality dropped and menu also changed not to my taste. It became average from excellent.
C. B.
There's always a funny smell but the food is great and service is very attentive. Very taste dishes and lots to choose from. They have a separate vegan menu
S. F.
Food has definitely gone downhill in recent years. Too rich and heavy. Didn't feel Vietnamese at all. That said, it's really nice food but order less than you think.
F. G.
Love the soup, good veggie options all round!
B. W.
Great tasty meal. Helpful friendly staff and good ambience
A. W.
Nice food but undeserving of the price.
S. S.
We were very pleased we chose The Hanoi, loved the food, service was nice, even though it looked like we were going to be tight, we were comfortable! Totally recommend! Loved the original “feed me” menu!!
M. K.
Amazing food amazing atmosphere. Could sit outside all night. Like being transported to somewhere else. Amazing place to go if you tired of the ordinary fast food and pizza places. Prices are too bad either. Would highly recommend the beef phu!
B. L.
Attractive busy excentrically decorated place in Balamory pastels. Delicious Vietnamese style food. Some reviewers suggest it's not 'authentic' missing the point Glasgow is not Saigon.Scottish Baronial scoff in a small street in Phuong 15 HCM won't be authentic either.
E. Z.
Worth the Hype: fair priced, the Pho is absolutely amazing, like, that is liquid gold. The coffee is the ultimate treat. The servers are all nice, welcoming and friendly. I totally recommend it.
L. K.
Amazing food, good atmosphere, tucked away from the main roads.
J. G.
Distinctly ok. Food ok, nothing great. Service friendly but a bit slow. Very close together seating. Funky smell, especially on lower floor. Their own brand beer was good though!
T. G.
The menu has changed. Understandingly since COVID. But I miss the fish and pork belly :). Still excellent.
D. “.
Possibly our favourite discovery on our recent family stay in Glasgow. Great atmosphere and deco, extremely helpful and friendly staff, and the yummiest food! We'll definitely be heading back here on our next visit!
A. N.
Always a great experience tasty food at a reasonable price

Various friends had recommended the Bike Shop to me for months before I finally got round to visiting with my brother for his birthday yesterday, and it didn't disappoint.
The upcycled furniture and busy decor lend an air of vibrant authenticity to the 'street food' vibe the owners are clearly going for: boho but unpretentiously so; baroque and suggestive but relatively stereotype-light.
A similar vibe was reflected in the service: our two servers were very friendly and brightly attentive without being unnatural about it or intrusive at all.
Upon being seated, we were supplied with chopsticks. Cutlery is available on request, but I found the Bike Shop's sticks really easy to use, as opposed to a few other restaurants where they've been either too difficult to hold properly, too narrow at the tip, etc. The tasty Vietnamese fishcakes we shared for a starter were easy to pick up and dip with the sticks, and it quickly felt no less natural than with a knife and fork. This added to the authentic and fun vibe without feeling too 'theme'.
I tried the beef pho - which I had never had before, despite being familiar with similar Asian broth-y dishes (Thai rad nar, etc). Pleasingly, it came with a side-plate of garnishes, including red chilis and fresh mint, coriander and genuine Thai basil, which - according to a manager whom we later ended up chatting with - is bought in on a daily basis from a specialist supplier. Again, I appreciated the 'extra mile' authenticity of this.
My brother had ordered a duck Banh Mi, which - being essentially a hot-filled sandwich - was a lot quicker in being served out than my pho, but I wasn't waiting too long for my liking. When it arrived, I got torn in and enjoyed experimenting, using the garnishes liberally, as well as the sriracha table sauce supplied, but I took the first initial bites plain, just to get a taste for the pho on its own merits. It's a genuine, saucy beef broth with a uniquely savoury and sweet flavour and plenty spring onions and beansprouts adding to the blend of textures. The meat itself was tender and had a rich, slow-cooked tasting flavour which went so well with the garnishing chilis, sriracha and fresh herbs. My brother also loved his Banh Mi, and we both raved about the food all the way home.
We were relatively limited for time, so didn't try desserts, but the excellent service, quality fare and overall fun, relaxed authenticity of this quirky, off-beat little bistro mean I'll definitely be coming back for some soon.
T. K.
My favourite restaurant in the whole world
P. B.
Fresh and spicy deliciousness. Gluten free, veggie options; customer concerns over allergies are observed. Amazing cocktails!
M.
Came here for lunch and started the meal with their Goi Cuon (Rice paper rolls) which were well made. The rolls came with a tangy vinegery sauce which paired with the roll well.
However, I wasn't a fan of the pho's broth and noodles. The broth wasn't as flavourful as I wanted it to be and the noodles were a shade undercooked, giving it a rather overly coarse texture. The beef slices though were delicious, especially dipped in chili dip which was quite addictive.
Service during the visit was great, both friendly and welcoming.
S. M.
Great service, informative and friendly. Best place for pho in town! Recommend splitting one pho and getting some sides between two.
We had the spicy beef and pork pho, with sides of pork ribs and shrimp, Vietnamese fish cakes and kimchi.
Will be back again!
A. P.
The food is divine, the service is stellar. This is where me and my fiancée chose to have our first post-lockdown date because it is JUST THAT GOOD.
S. B.
Great Vietnamese in the West End with a reasonably priced lunch menu and good options for veggies and meat eaters alike. Decor and small size meant a relaxed and cosy atmosphere too.

Interesting decor but it does smell a bit weird in there.
I was recommended this place by friends who raved about it. Maybe im just not hipster enough to fully appreciate this place but I thought the food was mediocre and overpriced. Would I go again? not willingly.

No doubt my most favorite restaurant in Glasgow. The food is amazing, they've always got great specials as well. I highly recommend a vietnamese coffee afterwards.
S. D.
Been here a few times and it never lets me down, good quality food in nice sized portions. If you are looking for something different then it’s the best place to go.
R. M.
Small place for Vietnamese food. We had pho and really enjoyed it.
A. B.
The food lacked any flavour and was served barely warm. No value for money. The service was good but the place itself was not very tidy. (Those expecting anything close to authentic Vietnamese will be highly disappointed)
T. L.
A little hidden gem on a small alley. Having lived in Saigon for two years, I would say this place has got some decent Vietnamese food and drinks. I particularly liked the lovely lanterns hanging from the ceiling which reminds me of the beautiful Hoi An.
J. S.
Great staff and food (beef bone broth pho!!). good value for money, really love this place however I'm giving 4 stars as the place was freezing on friday evening. Would've stayed longer if warmer
L. J.
Oh my God, this food is amazing.
K. M. W.
Stopped for a wee cocktail in the sunshine, the drinks and chilli peanut dip were great 😊

Charming little Vietnamese restaurant. Fantastic vegan and gluten-free menu.
Very relaxed, fantastic service, good was great and reasonably priced.
Will be back ❤
L. C.
Good food, but the smell in the restaurant is quite intense. It is most likely the cooking (fish oils & cabbage etc) and thankfully all tastes better than the smells!
A. B.
Fantastic food and great service. Great for Vegan options!
G. M.
Always a great experience, just go! 😄
A. B.
Top quality food in an excellent location. The Vietnamese coffee is a beautiful way to end a meal, and the late hours on Friday and Saturday are extremely convenient.
A. N. L.
Good food, Nice atmosphere, a little overprized.
L. M. P.
Best Vietnamese place I’ve been to (better than all the comparables in NYC).
Fun, unpretentious vibes and delicious spices. Fresh ingredients cooked to perfection.
A. C.
Fantastic food with vibrant authentic flavors, friendly service, cute decor, wide selection and lots of vegan options with even a separate menu. Highly recommend this place!
J. M. H.
Amazing food to share! there were 4 of us and we got their Banquet sharing meal - it was to live for!!
amazing Vegetarian and Vegan options!
W.
Great food, great service. If you walk by without a visit you missed a wonderful meal. Real deal Pho, no question. Bravo!
G. W.
Friendly and comfortable setting although found the food quite pricey and nothing special really. Staff were nice though and attentive. Wouldn't be rushing back.
M. T.
Heard great things so was excited to try but on this occasion the food and service were below par I’m afraid. Waited 20 minutes to order and a further hour for our meal with only a handful of tables in. Sorry, there are much better options in the area.
D. P.
An excellent selection of Vietnamese inspired dishes made with locally sourced Scottish ingredients. Well located off Byres Road in the heart of the student district. A wee gem in Glasgow's burgeoning food centre.
P. S.
Friendly atmosphere for both lunches and dinners. Delicious spicy food. Both gluten and vegan options are available. Great experience.
R. W.
Lovely food with wonderful flavours. Er both ate off of the banquet and the choice was brilliant. Ask for a table upstairs as a bit crampt downstairs. Defo be back.
P. T.
Amazing service and even better food. Great variety of options that will suit most palettes - it's something out of the ordinary that foodies will love and have to try.
L. W.
Food very tasty and jug of cocktails very zesty.
As with a lot of places at the moment service cheery but gadfly.
A. M.
Can definitely smell a bit odd coming through the door, but once you taste the food you'll never want to leave.
Tasty, great service, and good value for money.
S. W.
Very tasty food, but the suggested amount of meals to be ordered for two people is way too high! Just a pho would have been enough
l. g.
Only down side was the table was to small to fit the amount of amazing food we wanted to order.
J. T. H.
Fantastic Vietnamese food & coffee. The staff took great care to accommodate allergies of someone in our group.
S. A.
Great food, enjoyed letting them pick our dishes, tried things we wouldn't have normally!
e. l.
Food was delicious, I had the chilli glazed pork (although the included rice cakes were never to be seen) but service was a shambles, no one seemed to know what was going on
A. W.
The food is very good here, easily best Vietnamese food in the area. The shop does have a musty smell, as others have mentioned, but the food and drinks more than make up for it.
V. B.
Cool concept. Really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, everything. Service was great. Might be a good idea to book a table especially at weekends as we struggled to find a table on a Saturday.
J. P.
Excellent vietnamese food and great staff. Do not leave without trying their amazing Pho!! Reservations recommended, as restaurant is usually busy.
J. B.
Hanoi Bike shop Ruthven lane Glasgow, never tried Vietnamese food before but I would highly recommend this place if you ever find yourself down Byres road.
J. D.
I think it was the Best meal I've ever eaten or pretty close.
The food is very typic. Lots and lots of vegan and gluten free options.
J. M.
Good food and service. Every time I've been it was too hot, guess that is part of experience to make you feel like you were in Vietnam.on my ladt visit, table was not wiped properly.
S. S.
Excellent pho, some of the best Vietnamese food in Scotland. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is earthy and relaxed
S. C.
Super tasty food, quite expensive but the food is pretty great. The vegan options in particular were very nice.
G. F.
Cute place, but the vegan tofu pho had no taste or flavour... very disappointing :/ ALSO! It’s Frank’s red hot and not Sriracha in the Sriracha bottle O_O’
G. M.
Loved it great food, quirky interesting yum yum
C. D.
great establishment, good food, service was slightly slower than id have liked but it was busy so understandable. Wouldn't put me off coming back
S. B.
First time there great we cosy place great food and will be back again
J. S.
Good above average, hence four stars not there or five. Seriously, food is good but for some reason doesn't quite make five stars. Probably the staff.
B. W.
The food is amazing, fresh, tasty, tofu that delivers, a rough and ready feel and relaxed atmosphere all contribute to a great nights dining.
S. R.
Absolutely amazing food, beautiful presentation and staff were wonderful. If I could give this place a 6 star rating i would.
B. R.
Fresh and delicious Vietnamese food in the town! Food of great taste and the restaurant has a nice environment. Served with a smile and gratitude!
T. B.
The Beef Pho is amazing. The place is very quirky and you do feel like you're in Vietnam on a side street.
S. R.
Very good pho interesting choice of seating outside, inside had a very authentic odour or fish sauce.
P. S.
Very average for its price, nice vibe tho. But thats all. I think it might live off its old fame, as all the locals recommended it, so I gave it three or four chances, but I'm always at least slightly disappointed.
K. R.
A different experience in a very relaxing environment. Interesting food from South East Asia. Main plates are quire big so don't over do it when ordering.
r. r.
Had the Spicy beef and pork Pho, it was better than I expected. About what you'd expect to pay for Vietnamese in Glasgow. All in all, not bad.
P. R.
Fun place to visit. Wonderful atmosphere, amazing Vietnamese food and friendly, helpful staff. Can't wait to visit again next time I am in Glasgow.
A. S.
Unreal food. Service was amazing. Cant thank them enough for their hospitality. Highly reccomend and we will defo be back
E. M.
Will definitely be back. We got the chef's banquet would recommend more than enough food, great mix and enjoyed all of it
T. L.
Go with three friends. Get the chef's menu. For us it was about 11 dishes to share. Each one was amazing. Can't wait to go back.
C. E.
I have never been disappointed with the food - it's so good! I absolutely love this place and tell everyone to visit.
I. W.
Pretty good vietnamese food, but quite pricey. I don't know of any other vietnamese restaurant in glasgow though, the pho is pretty good!
E. G.
Very nice food.
Quite expensive, No lunch time deals, but we enjoyed it
K. L.
Amazing food at a great price! Definitely reccomend sharing, as they bring food out as it's made, rather than all at once.
N. H.
Great food in an unusual space. Good service and quick turnaround time. Good mix of food. Definitely worth a wee detour to visit.
E. D. s.
Very nice and friendly atmosphere. 60 £ dinner is a worthy for 2. Remember to book your table on Saturdays.
G. N.
Very nice. The staff were really good at helping us decide. Food was great. All round great restaurant.
R. D.
Great food and service. Sensible spice levels. Ask them to feed you for a tour round Vietnamese food. Great.
C. M.
It's always fantastic. Delicious, unique, I still can't find a suitable replacement now I'm in London, so I come here every time I'm back.
N. S.
A great find. Flavour packed food very reasonably priced. Fun vibe. They also cater for vegans if that's your thing.
C. S.
Great food, but it turns up when it's ready, so you may have food while the rest of your party has to wait another 15 mins for theirs.
P. P.
Great place for a bite to eat of the Byers road. Attentive staff without being in your face. Great for sitting outside on warm nights. Reasonably priced.
S. T.
Lovely range of flavours. Did not disappoint and £25 ph deal good value and saves agonising over choices.
A. T.
Great service, good food and lovely atmosphere! Would recommend the crispy duck leg or the pork belly and sea bream 🙇🏻♀️
v.
Excellent place. Read about it in the Rick Steve’s Scotland book and loved it. Highly suggest the Toi Bong Cai, but everything we ate and drank was delicious.
S. C.
Lots of people like this and I kind of want to but...not to my taste. Quirky cafe style but for me the foods just not tasty nor interesting.
It's popular so maybe it's just me but don't think I'll be back.
M. R.
Interesting Vietnamese menu, but a little short on choices. Still the food was delicious which is the most important thing
J. M.
Place needs a wee dust! But, loved the food, freshly made and good vegan choices that would be difficult to find elsewhere 😉
G. F.
Loved it. Very good food and super friendly staff. Curried bananas are amazing!
W. M.
Great food and great atmosphere. All honest food that fills you up. Fair price and friendly staff. A great place to go!
A. M.
Great food, wide veggie and vegan selection ( I'm neither) good service, busy in a good way on the Friday evening I was there.
S. C.
It is not authentic Vietnamese food but food is good here. Great ambiance and good service is the reason why you wish to come back again.
A. D.
Delicious dishes. They have also vegan menu. Can be a bit crowded, so reservations are recommended.
R. D.
Good food. Good service. I would come more often if the seats were comfortable. It might fit the theme..
H. M.
Love this place! From the quirky decor to its hidden location down the lane it's a great place to visit. The pho is sublime!
C. H.
The best Vietnamese food I've had, extremely authentic and very generous servings!
A. R.
Really helpful staff, great food and a brilliant atmosphere. Book a table if you are going during peak times as this place gets full.
I. F.
This place is fantastic! Great food and excellent service.
A. T.
Lovely staff, vibrant atmosphere and great food!! Would recommend the crispy duck and any of the cocktails!
G. B.
The food was amazing. Great staff too. Will be back.
R. W.
The whole experience. Had to wait to get a table on a busy Saturday night but well worth the wait. Staff excellent and food fabulous, can't wait to return.
C. C.
So easy to be a vegan here!
O. K.
Amazingly eclectic Vietnamese restaurant, the menu rotates but make sure you get the prawn crackers and peanut dip while you browse the menu.
A. T.
Fantastic food. The best meal I have had in Glasgow. Great vegan options.
A. M.
Great service, amazing food, we had the banquet... the food just kept coming... a feast for all the senses
K. A.
A unique dining experience in Glasgow. Definitely worth a visit. A little on the expensive side and be sure to book ahead.
D. D.
Beware the smell! Seriously you may turn around and leave! If it wasn't for the tasty food I wouldn't eat here. Best go in nice weather where you can sit outside.
M. C.
Great atmosphere and all of the dishes are exceptional! Different than the rest of asian-themed restaurants!
A. N.
Amazing pho! I'll definitely come back!
G. L.
Food was nice and service great but I don't think it was great value for money, certainly on the expensive side but nice for a special occasion.
M.
Beautifully presented Vietnamese good with bags of flavour in a quirky setting good for groups or for a more intimate informal dining experience.
