Pre-booked a bike over the phone a week in advance. Had the bike for a day. They sorted me the right size straight away. Bike was a very comfy hardtail Scott that made some proper rough trails seem easy. The guys in the shop gave some fab advice about where to ride - convinced me to tackle Burma Road, even in the very low cloud. Was well worth it. The descent to the river was simply awesome (the 45mins climbing in first gear, less so!). Overall I covered about 50km in the day. No post ride aches or pains! Definitely will use Bothy Bikes for any future trips that way.

We hired bikes on short notice from bothy bikes and had a great experience. We hired a pair of thick tyre mountain bikes and the owner gave us really helpful route recommendations from his shop to a loch in cairngorns. The service was helpful and honest and ended up being really useful and he was genuinely interested in us having an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!

Nice and sympathic little bike shop. We hired two electric mountain bikes for one day. Additionally we got helmets, tool kit and a detailed map of MTB trails. This map was really helpful for some additional little loops over singletrails. We did a tour from Kingussie to Feshiebridge and back and got detailed tips for the tour from the owner - very nice!

Currently cycling Lands End to John O Groats and my bike failed on day 17, looked up nearest bike shop and headed there. They diagnosed a broken spoke which had jammed the freewheel and they sorted it as well as tightening up other spokes. Great service and great price which got me on my way! Thank you

Would strongly recommend this shop to anyone. I had an issue with the brakes and gears on my bike whilst up on holiday a couple of weeks ago. I had already been into Grantown on Spey-quoted 2 weeks turnaround, and Aviemore - a week, for a job that would take no more than around 90 minutes. I contacted Bothy Bikes, and explained I wanted the bike for the holiday, particularly a ride to Braeriach via Einich the following day. Although obviously busy, the guy agreed to take on the job that day. I returned later to a repaired bike at an extremely competitive rate. He had stayed open 40 minutes after closing time to sort it. Bothy Bikes really helped us out at short notice. We’re up on holiday and had issues with brakes on one of our bikes. They sorted the issue as best they could (likelihood the bike will need new brakes in the near future). But it means we can use the bike during our holiday. Super helpful, good advice and well priced so I’d fully recommend Bothy Bikes.

A bit out from the main town but well worth the ten minute walk. Staff were very knowledgeable and our bikes were ready for us arriving at the shop. The bikes were great quality and well maintained and the gel saddles certainly helped. Price wise they were bang on the money and I wouldn't hesitate to hire from here again. Here's a negative for fellow customers, if you hire a bike, make sure you turn up or have the decency to call and cancel your booking. These guys had so many no shows when we were there, and by not informing the shop, you are stopping them from hiring your bike to someone else, thus capping their revenue. Don't be that person, give them a call. When we arrived it was pouring from the heavens but after a couple if hours it had dried up, and by the end of the day we were fully dried out again. The staff can give you some great ideas of where to cycle, and we found some great places we would otherwise have missed.

Great service and advice for replacing my helmet. Also helped my husband who had a problem with his front suspension. We have also in the past had an emergency repair done at short notice which still allowed us to use the bike that day, so it's a 5 star plus from us!

My husband and I hired mountain bikes for the day, we were given great advice , route maps and repair kit as well as helmets if required. We haven't cycled in many a day but managed to cycle to Boat of Garten and back. Helpful friendly staff

Brilliant bikes, great service and value. Bikes are well maintained with decent treads, gears and brakes. Staff are knowledgeable, well-trained, helpful and friendly. Hire a Scott Electric Mountain bike - i have been using this shop for over 20 years - brought several bikes from Dave. Never a problem even if i had one. On Sunday, my wife and I hired Scott E bikes - we went from Boat of Garten over Loch Garten to Bothy, to Loch Morlic, to Burma Road to Carrbridge and back to Boat. 66k's and a million smiles. Great job again!

Very helpful and patient guys when I nipped in to get a new headset bearing. I didn't have a clue about size/type but after they checked I walked out with what I needed and fixed my wife's creaking problem. Fantastic! I really recommend using these guys if you're in Aviemore.

My girlfriend and I rented a couple of bikes from here on holiday. They were great quality. The prices were great and included the hire of a helment, waterproof map and puncture repair kit. The staff were super friendly and the employee who sorted out the bikes for us was very knowledgeable about the local routes and gave a us a fantastic route round several of the nearby Lochs. Could not recomend enough.

Our holiday would not have been as wonderful if it wasn't for the lovely people in Bothy Bikes. We have rented 2 fat bikes for half a day, and since there wasn't enough of the right size available, Gordon very kindly lent me his own bike! We had such fun on the trails, the bikes handled all terrain effortlessly, and we are both in love with fat bikes now! Not to mention, helmets and maps are included for free! Popular, busy place, but managed to get 3 good bikes despite not booking ahead for a half day rental. Unfortunately all 3 got flat rear tires at about the furthest point out, so we had to run back down the trail instead of a nice downhill cycle. No obvious explanation for the punctures, but because we accidentally had not received puncture repair kits, they gave us a 50% refund. Very fair under the circumstances. I would definitely use Bothy Bikes again. Mick

Ok so this is a great bicycle shop with super friendly super helpful super knowledgeable staff. Super convenient for heading north or south on off road trails with a great choice of hire bikes I opted with Dave's advice for a medium sized e bike and off I zoomed for over 60km of mostly off road fun. And as well as helping on hills the e boost allowed me to escape any stray animals that appeared too interested in me on my bike.. so well i will go back and hire again - e bikes are just such a lot of fun and all the staff at bothy bikes are enthusiastic and supportive...

Even on a Saturday in June the Bothy managed to hire us 2 adult bikes plus 2 attachments for children. Never heard of a Weehoo before but it was a great seat for our 4 year old and allowed her to pedal which she enjoyed. The staff were very knowledgeable and provided everything including helmets, repair kit and a trail map. I would definitely use them again. Thanks David.

They rent fatbikes! I'm so glad I found them on this visit. If you've never given a fatbike a try, I highly recommend it. What they lack in lightness they make up for in fun, and it's fun in spades. It was such a great way to see the Aviemore area. These guys are awesome. The staff is super friendly and helpful, prices are reasonable, and they provided a patch kit, a map, and a helmet free of charge. It was great!

Quick and uncomplicated bike (rent) shop. Many different models to choose from. Many are very good Marin Bobcat Trail 5. Bikes are in excellent working order but some need a good clean. Friendly guys with great sense of humor. Got tyre repairkit in plastic bag. No deposit needed. Well recommended.

Have deleted my first post as I've had a bad experience since using them the first time.Seems Mike's bikes and Bothys are incapable..trusted this lot with my pride and joy and got it back damaged. They were to put on a hope bb and a race face sixc carbon Crank which is nearly 400 quid alone,I got the bike back a week later with a big scratch down one of the crank arms and on my month old handlebars with no sign of my old bb either.Was obviously from leaning bikes up it from pedals when taking my bike in and out the shop every day for a week and when asked they denied all of it..but said when you need something else doing we'll look after you.They didn't look after it the first time so won't be back.Really expensive parts for me as I had to save for them and disheartened with upgrading my bike and have hardly been on it since.Be warned!!!!

Highly recommend these guys. I popped in on my way back to Orkney on the off chance they might have a Surly which I had my eye on. They had it fitted and ready for me within the hour and I was on my way to catch the boat. Really chuffed with my new purchase. Friendly and professional service.

I can't fault the repair, but the guy serving me made an anti-English comment. I had to bite my lip because I needed the repair done and I knew that the only other bike shop in town didn't have the necessary parts, but after that experience I wouldn't use the place for anything non-urgent.

Wanted to hire an electric bike and Bothy were the cheapest option but for a good bike. Very easy to deal with and had a great day out and about in Aviemore area on it.

Bought a pair of gloves from the shop when I was visiting with my family, gloves ripped/split a couple moths later, phoned and spoke with the guys form the shop, they were very helpful and friendly, sent the ripped gloves back to them and they sent me a new pair back..excellent customer service and friendly staff, also really helpful if your up asking about some of the local trails..thanks guys..👍👍
