c. c.Best service EVER! Today Adam at Evens Cycles on Mortimer St, restored my faith in humanity. I shan’t go into why I was so desperate to get my puncture mended but I was desperate. I knew it was the end of the day and all the other bike shops were shut. It’s Saturday and at 6pm Adam mended my bike without even making me feel like it was any inconvenience even though the shop should technically have been shut. He was so lovely, he even tightened some other bits and bobs free of charge. He also gave me advice on how to maintain my bike. I don’t know what I would have done if he hadn’t come to my rescue. I am beyond grateful, I wasn’t the only customer him and the manager were trying to help after hours. They clearly understand how much people need their bikes in working order. I rode back to work smiling all the way, feeling like I had my wings back again. Thank you Adam.
B. W.From the point of buying my bike 2 weeks ago and having a couple of minor issues between then and now, the store have been amazing. Extremely knowledgeable when I was choosing what bike to buy and helped me with the process of using the cycle to work scheme. I later had an issue with the tyre and chain and the store were so exceptionally helpful in getting it fixed and back on the road with the fastest turnaround time ever. I didn't catch his name but the guy in the workshop today (3rd March, 3pm) was the most helpful and friendly technician ever and explained everything so well to me and resolved the issue quickly. I'm so happy I chose Evans Cycles to buy my bike from, I can cycle with the reassurance that if I have any issues they are always friendly and happy to help. Highly recommended!

A. M.Dan in the workshop is very friendly and helpful! The screws on my basket had come loose and the basket was interfering with the brakes when full, and he secured the basket for me. He also fixed the bikes gears which were difficult to change below the fourth year.
I met Peter in the Victoria Evans branch a few weeks before and he also provided excellent service - he mounted my new lock and checked my bike was safe to ride. Excellent service from Dan and Peter! Would recommend! Thank you :)

G.Was having a disaster of a day, where my left crank snapped, luckily the guys over at Evans are experienced and knowledgeable cyclists who empathised with my situation and a very nice sales person said there was a spare crank that could be put on my bike at no cost to help me get through the week (as this was my commuter bike). Mechanic Dan was able to sort me out in literally no time so I could get home which was particularly generous as the store was closing soon, and the job was done to usual high standards. M. C.A (not so) funny thing happened on the way to work. My pedal fell off as I was cycling. I was near the shop so I asked the workshop if they could help me. They found the right bolt (even though my bike is v old) and fitted the pedal back on securely within minutes of me arriving... and they refused to take a penny from me. I got to work on time! S. A.In store staff are pretty good... that is if you can speak to them (there aren't many of them on the floor so you have to wait a while to speak to them). But they do spend a lot of time with you and give honest and friendly advice - would recommend the store from that perspective for sure.
NEVER call the store, no one ever picks up (I lost count how many times I've called) and there is no answer machine - both of which are unacceptable and very frustrating. I had to go to the store to check up on my order multiple times and use the online chat function (which is pretty good). However:
The store is slow at telling you when your orders arrive... My bike had been put together mid-week... I came to the store 1.5 days after it had been built by chance (got no call) but said I'd come back when the other parts of my order arrived... I then got a call 3-4 days after it was built (despite having gone to the store already) - don't know why they took so long to call to say it was ready (they clearly forgot i'd been in store and knew the bike was ready). The whole time my other part of the order still hadn't arrived. I'd prefer if they'd called on the day the bike was ready (was built in the morning) and say the other parts of the order aren't - at least I know what's happening. While i admittedly might be getting impatient (my order is already late) I'm dying to get riding again especially as lockdown measures are being eased!

B. R.I was stunned at the unreal service I received at Evans today (November 8).
Disaster struck as I was cycling in Central and got a savage flat tyre.
I was in a panic as what to do due to Lockdown 2.0.
I rang them and they explained that they would be able to help.
Once I got there with the parts I needed, I was greeted by a lovely employee in the workshop who literally could not have been any nicer.
Sorted my bike out in half an hour and I was back on the open road.
Peace of mind secured due to the great service of all the staff I met at Evans, would definitely recommend.
I.Dan was the most helpful staff I have ever come across. TBH, I had a REALLY bad experience with my first visit, but today as I was ready to collect my new bike, Dan just saved the day as he got me 'newbie' everything I needed with amazing efficiency and he clearly has a passion for bikes. Wonderful customer service from him. Quick tip: if you want someone who's patient and willing to explain even the most basic things, ask for Dan. He's the one to go to.

I came out of John Lewis to a flat tyre at 5.20 yesterday, a Saturday afternoon. I googled nearby bike shops and found Evans ready and willing to help. I went to the Mortimer St shop to purchase various items for my first road bike shoes, cleats, puncture repair kit, lock, helmet, etc. I was served by Haja who took me though each item. My colleagues from work feel the same, all the time five or more people beyond the counter and nobody even raise their head. I was in London and got stuck with a flat tyre over the new year.
I got it fixed on n the 2nd, bought a new tube and all only to find it flat the next day.
When I went back on the 3rd, they replaced it with another new tube, and reinforced it with the old tube and didn't charge me a penny for the second time! ! !
All done within minutes with no prior appointment....

E. W.Got my first road bike and cleats fitted. Jon was brilliant setting up everything so the bike was tailored to me. He suggested changing seats as the original was too small which made a massive difference to the comfort. Also tweaking the handlebars to ensure the right ride position. He made sure to set up my new shoes and show me how to use them so I was able to cycle the bike home without falling off! Overall a great service and very happy with my new bike.
S. W.I was in a dire situation, my bike tire had completely punctured and I had no battery on my phone. Had been turned away from three other bike shops that were closing. In spite of being a young gentleman Dan always goes an extra mile in providing a valuable customer advice in addition to bike repairs or maintenance services making overall customer experience visiting Evans cycles worth and enlightening. My London-Brighton loop, Windsor Castle and other 100 + miles rides among the other have been flawless once Dan set-up my Pinarello, Roubaix and Giant. One of my best bike stores across all others, making me a happy returning customer.

I had originally booked a silver service which costs £60, but when I got to the store, Maritno, the store’s head mechanic, checked the bike, adjusted the breaks, gears and headset of. I bike, gave me some tips on how to maintain it, and, within minutes, sent me home without paying a pence for the service. I appreciated the honesty and treatment I received in Evans today, I’m obviously going to spend those £60 and more shopping in their store. In summary, awesome staff, amazing service and great attention.

You very quickly and efficiently diagnosed the issue with my Brompton Electric, and got the motor replaced under warranty, with minimum fuss.
This is despite the fact that I have had solid tyres fitted, which makes the replacement of the motor doubly difficult.

v. m.Popped in today to this place to adjust my bike (shifting and so on), and I can say I got more when than I expected for deffinetelly reasonable price loads of attention, got all my questions answered, really good advice without intention to rip off, got my breaks changed that they got fitted really good, and my bike runs really smooth after all, thank you Dan, and if anybody needs their bike get fixed definitely recommend!!!!

N. J.Big shout out to Dan in the Evans workshop. Leaving my office en route to a meeting I found the chain on my bike (which was locked to a lamp post in Soho) had somehow become badly snagged in the gear cogs (?!) and had completely immobilised my bike. I ran the bike up to Evans and Dan immediately offered to try to fix the problem there and then. After a few minutes he had freed the chain and got me back on the road. When I offered to pay for the service he said there was no charge and he just happy to have been able to help. There are some good people out there. Thanks Dan!
E. E.FINAL UPDATE: I upgraded to 4 stars as the team at Evans made the final part of my purchase experience a smooth one. In the end, they ordered a new bike rather than try to fix the brake that was not working and made it happen within a day of seeing me. When I arrived, they looked after me and ensured a smooth process. Thank you Evans.
PREV UPDATE: The pre-purchase experience (below) was 5 stars however my post purchase experience has not been so great. The bike was built by Cannon and shipped to Evans. I bought the bike on a Saturday and was told to come on a Tuesday to pick it up.
I went to pick the bike up on the following Tuesday however I was told that the brake was not working and it needed to be replaced. It was only identified by a floor salesperson (and not the bike technician) as they literally were handing me the bike to take home. I give the floor salesman credit for finding this and flagging however I would have thought the bike repair team would have flagged this when they were examining the bike upon receipt from Canon. I was told that I would need to wait to have this repaired because of the long customer queue and that I would need to wait another week to receive my bike. They told me to come back the following Tuesday which is when they said it would be ready to pick up.
One week passed and I did not hear from them during that week at which point I assumed there were no problems and it was ok to pick up. On the Tuesday I was due to pick up the bike, I tried calling Evans to confirm all was ok and there were no issues but no one answered the phone. I never received a call from Evans and showed up for the second time to pick up the bike only to be told that the bike needed further repairs and was not ready.
What was more frustrating was the fact that no one called me to tell me that the bike needed more time. Luckily, I had a nice gentlemen who helped me with the situation and escalated the problem to the manager. The manager also apologized for the situation and said that he would escalate to get the repairs done ASAP. I am hopeful I will be able to pick up my bike this week. They also provided some store credit to offer their apologies which was nice of them.
Overall, its been a bit frustrating but there is light at the end of the tunnel. More importantly, its the simple act of communicating which was lacking during this process with Evans so for those who have bikes being serviced at Evans don't assume all is ok - call and check to make sure the bike is ready to be picked up!
PRE-PURCHASE: What an amazing customer experience. It was out second time in the store to finally purchase our first bikes in London. The first visit Danilo was super patient in helping describe all the options and also allowing us to test ride a few bikes. We came in today and were helped again by both Danilo and Andy. Together they were an amazing team and really looked after us, answering all our questions and ensuring we were comfortable with our purchases. We really enjoyed our time in the store and can’t wait to start using our bikes. Evans is top notch and would recommend to anyone looking to buy a bike or accessories. They have it all!

I met the two mechanics from this shop, Jacek and Dan who have served me in the best way, very kind and helpful, managed to help me out and fitted the crown race on my fork in a few minutes. They also helped with finding the proper screws for my PM to FM disk brake adapter.

So what has stopped the five stars? I'd arranged that the bike be fully fitted, but when I came to collect it, the workshop hadn't done the work so I took the bike back for adjustment a couple of days later...and they still don't work properly. So a really frustrating end to what had been before, great service from two really friendly and helpful staff members.

By chance, I visited a different store (Mortimer St) in Nov 2018 with no intention of buying anything. However, from the moment I got in there I was surprised with the attention provided by their personnel. They were extremely helpful and took the time to go through different options and sizes with me. I ended up buying a “Cannondale Synapse Alloy Disc 105 2019 Women's Road Bike” and so far, very happy with the bike and their constant support the next couple of times I visited the shop. I’d highlight that Jon, Alexander and Tim are very keen to help and have the charisma to make you feel an important customer. Late on a Friday afternoon, when the Mortimer street team could have been forgiven for starting to think about their weekends (I was!), Danny spent a considerable amount of time setting the bike up for me, more air in front fork, replacement grips, saddle height etc. He took time to show me how to properly attach the panniers to the rather unusual rack style of the Cube (I'd have struggled without it). Impeccable manners .Nothing was too much trouble. I'd also like to mention John who had called me to advise me that my bike was in stock and ready for a collection - a really pleasant call with all questions answered. I also witnessed another team member give an detailed walk through of how to fold a Brompton to a gentleman who was taking one for a demo. He wanted him to be confident before he left and , once again, took his time. I also witnessed a mechanic wiping his steel work top down with alcohol to make sure that it was clean for the next job. If only my local VW dealer took as much care! Great work Danny!! I greatly appreciated your calm efficiency and patience. I have to make a detour to visit Mortimer Street, but I'll never go anywhere else. 5 Stars all round!
M. G.I visited Evans last Saturday and the customer service that I received from Jon Plant was second to none! It was my first time trying out a road bike and Jon was very knowledgeable and patient with me. He explained clearly the in's and out's of the road bike, the sizing and fit and reassured me as I felt nervous heading out on my first test ride. It is a busy and popular bike shop but at no point did I feel under pressure to make decisions to hurry up or purchase the bike or any of the bikes I had tried - I felt that I was more than just another customer coming through the door on a Saturday afternoon which you can often worry about from a big bike chain.
While out on the test ride I had an unfortunate incident where I was threatened and it left me very shaken. On my return to the shop and while calling the police, I was shown great kindness and empathy by Jon. He went out of his way to make sure I was ok, made me a cup of tea and was just generally really lovely and understanding despite it being the end of a long day.
I cant thank him enough for Saturday - while he was excellent and knowledgeable at helping me pick a bike and get to grips with that- this just took it to another level and that is certainly exceptional customer service. Thank you Jon!

Went in to see if I could buy a new cable retaining screw for my brake calliper after losing it and although they did not sell a spare a very helpful and friendly member of staff called Alex sources me a screw from the workshop and gave it to me gratis.
I offered to pay but he wouldn’t have it saying he was happy to help. Above and beyond what I expected and an amazing bit of customer service.
I would not hesitate in recommending this branch of Evans to anyone and will be using them for my next service.
This really made my day, proving that real customer service and friendly people do still exsist even in the middle of town.

j. w.The Notting Hill branch couldn't service and fix a puncture for a week as they were so busy I tried the West End shop. Extremely hard to get hold of on the phone which didn't bode well. When reached the mechanic said i could walk in and bike wouldn't take long to service and repair. Arrived at 18:30, small queue in front of me and they were fixing punctures while you wait so each customer taking 10-15 minutes. I was waiting for one hour by the time i served. Only one mechanic working on the walk in jobs, due to others being away. He was doing his best. A few ppl came in to pick up bikes so I let them jump the queue, when i was served i decided to let them keep my bike and i'd get it later. The people behind me appreciated that. Picked it up the next day - all good. Waiting an hour didn't really bother me that much the previous day. It made me wonder if we should get used to this type of service in a Post-Brexit Britain.

A. M.Evans offer a fantastic deal when you buy a new bike. You can return or change it in the first 30 days. I bought a hybrid, rode it a couple of times and then decided it was too heavy so decided to change it for a more expensive carbon version of the same Canondale. They switched all the tbe add ons from the aluminium bike to the new one but after trying the it I changed my mind so they transferred all the extras back to the first bike at no charge. I am now riding and enjoying my aluminium bike . Everybody in the shop was polite and helpful. A great team of sales people and mechanics.

My bike's chain was constantly slipping off especially when pulling away from lights - causing me to lose balance and nearly fall into traffic. I was turned away from 3 nearby bike shops but Martino sorted it out for me. He also aligned my wheel, tightened the brakes - basically made the bike safe to ride again. Wouldn't take payment! P.I recently bought a trek 920 and received outstanding service from the staff through out the process. Three visits in total which left me bewildered as to why people make unconstructive comments.
I received complete consideration through out.
The wait for the actual frame size I needed was within 48 hours with emails received that day and the next to allow me to be kept aware of progress . Second day a call from the store to ask me a suitable time to come into the store for a bike ride test and fitting.. Phil the manager made feel able to asked many questions as I needed which was refreshing in retail these days.
Bob one of the mechanics who I was able to watch prepare my bike and add the extras I selected was interesting to watch and observe the professional attitude these people have.
I never felt pressured to buy things I did not need,in fact I was surprised I spent less after discussing extras with the staff.
Contacting the store to confirm I would be collecting an additional set of tyres I found no problem getting through by phone. Being a busy store it's only reasonable to assume at times they are too busy helping customers to come to a phone as is normal at busy times
I learned far more than anticipated and enjoyed my visits.
Being a long distance tourer I've never felt this level of support and interest in my bike selection before or the passion from the staff to explain specificly step by step everything needed in equipment choice..

N. H.Very happy with the service I received here. I do try to patronise my small local bike shops when I can, but sometimes Evans is the only place with what I need at a reasonable price. I ordered a particular pair of wheels last week that I couldn't find elsewhere and it was only when I'd attached the cassette, skewers, rim tape, tube and tyres that I noticed the rear wheel had a distinct wobble when it rotated. Not at all acceptable for a brand new wheel.
I went back to the shop the next day, expecting to get a typical big-retail response of "sorry, the only thing we can do is order you a replacement" which would have been a real pain seeing as I'd fitted everything. But no! The sales people pointed me to the workshop, where a mechanic trued the wheel in about 3 minutes, no questions asked. Perfect.
AN UPDATE: Some time after I wrote the above, the rear wheel started making an intermittent "crack" sound. It drove me nuts for months, since aluminium bikes are notorious for making sounds appear to come from the wrong place. I tweaked almost everything on the bike until I managed to trace it to the rear wheel. Again, I took it back - bear in mind this is months since I bought it - and this time the mechanic traced the problem to the hub - some issue with the original wheel build - and fixed it. Not all that happy with the wheels themselves (though they are finally ok now) but I'm very happy with Evans.

Was a bit surprised that they were unwilling to place a special order for a long drop rear brake caliper for my girl friend's bike since they carry it on their website. The sales person / mechanic was still helpful and recommended another shop in the area that stocks long drop brake calipers.
D. R.The guys were extremely helpful when one of the two screws holding my saddle in place snapped, as I was going over a hump on my way to work. Jac replaced the screw within 5 minutes after I walked in, and didn’t charge me at all. As I was leaving I remembered I had some chocolate biscuits in my rucksack and gave it to them. Very grateful

I came into Evans to see if they could help to patch up my bike after someone tried to take off the back wheel. R. G.Absolute saviours! Cycling into central from Fulham one Saturday, my chain broke round Russell Square. Went to about 6 bike shops: condor, cycle fix, sold private ones. Anyway, they all said either their mechanic wasn’t in, or it would take all day. Step in Lee, think that’s his name, who sorted the chain and the bike out. Absolute legend, forever grateful.
N. P.Popped in for an emergency repair, just for a wrench really. Even though the mechanic wasn't in, the staff was so helpful I was really overwhelmed.
