C. H.Brought my bike here after Decathlon (the manufactuers) stated after having my bike for 4 months it could not be fixed? These guys had my bike for 2 months while they sourced parts and BOOM, my beloved bike is back with me for a whooping total cost of £20.00, I would have given 10 stars but Google only allow 5, Thank you guys very much........7 miles from my home but more than well worth the train fare!

R. W.Purchased a Hackney Black V4 single speed; the bike is a classic style and has served me well over the 6 months. Paid £40 extra for puncture proof tyres, a must in East London, and they have been true to their word so far. The service is prompt with the Bike ready for collection within a few days and then quality service to fit the new tyres within 10 minutes. You can bring the bike for a service as many times as you like within the first year which is a really nice touch
r. r.Came in to the shop looking for a replacement wheel as mine was taco'd beyond repair and the store clerk pointed to the workshop across the road, where I purchased a new front wheel for £25 (a decent price) and the gentlemen working at the shop were polite and efficient.
The wheel itself is working fine and I've had no problems so far, I'll definitely be visiting the next time I encounter a problem with my bicycle.

J. V.Lovely bike shop with nice people. I got my bike during the pandemic and had to wait a bit, but it was worth the wait. A year later, the bike is still really good! Great price for a bike to get around town and exercise. They have more bits in the store than you see online that you can customise your bike with.. there is a garage on the opposite side of the street in a nearby parking area where the workshop is. I had a mud guard installed which I highly recommend because of the London rain; my D-lock installed; and a little bell. I sourced my lights and helmet elsewhere. Overall, I’m a happy customer :)

I called ahead about a puncture and they said just pop in which I did. 4-5 bike mechanics work around the clock at the weekends which is great.
I only had a 10 minute wait however in that time 8 other people were also able to get their bikes seen to which was pretty cool by my standards.
I noticed that it was a "go to" spot for several Deliveroo cyclists who I'm guessing rack up some serious mileage day-to-day.
Five stars out of five easily awarded here, if I could I'd give them a 6. 🥰

P. P.Great bicycle shop! They repaired our tandem after other places couldn’t and they always offer the best advice for you rather than charging you unnecessarily. I went today to change my brakes and it turns out they needed tightening only and I can wait 3 more months to replace them. They’re very friendly and quick as well. Strongly recommend them 😊

I'm so bored of taking my bike in to a shop and being told that everything needs replacing. Here, you get honest advice about how long each of your components have left in them and the most cost effective way to move forward.

D. K.We needed 2 bikes... ASAP. I've not cycled since I was 16! I liked the idea of these 'No Logo' bikes with no gears... for London. But I've never rode a 'no gears bike' and was worried!
I arrived at the store and the sales assistant was amazingly helpful! The bikes look absolutely amazing for the money! We immediately bought 2... one black and black, one red and black...
They were ready to collect within an hour and a half! WOW...
We rode them home and OMG we cycled for 3 amazing hours along the Canal and then around the river... Limehouse, Westferry, Millwall... Blackwall! It was probably the most enjoyable 3 hours I've had in a very long time!!
The bikes are amazing! The acceleration is incredible, the traction to the road is perfect and the NO GEARS BLEW MY MIND! I never new how stressed I used to be changing gears every 5 minutes and messing it up constantly! I even struggled with the Boris Bikes 3 gears! In London the gears for me are dangerous...
We did hit a snag... we cycled over some glass... I know right - newbies and blew a tyre... the Bus driver refused to take us!!! Thanks D7 :-( we had to walk back...
But we called Hackney Cycle the next morning, hired a Zipcar van, and they changed the whole inner tube within 10 mins! for £9!!!! WOW...
Off to explore the Thames Pathway... 79 miles of paths :-)

Basket of my bike was falling off due to a broken part and these guys managed to restore it to perfect condition! Also fixed my dented basket and bent it back into shape, which other people couldn’t do previously. Repair costs also reasonable.

A. M.The bikes are ok and for a good price. However, we were promised a bike within 5 weeks and we got a different bike (black wheels instead of red wheels) with almost 3 weeks delay. Also, in the first instance we were not even told about the delay and we had to call ourselves. I would have expected at least a little discount on the bike which they refused to give.

I opted for the most basic single speed steel frame bike and a guy build it for me in 30-35 mins. the bike wights about 11 kg. They also welcome special requests and modifications. 1 year warranty is place for your peace of mind.
I am so far quite happy with my bike.

Took my hub gear bike in at 9.30 for a chain adjustment (chain guard preventing me from doing this myself.) despite being told it might take longer than a day due to the guy being the only person in the workshop, he had it finished in an hour and called me back to let me know.. upon pick up discovered that the chain was now tightened properly and makes no sound at all, feels & sounds like new! Brakes also not screeching any more. Very happy indeed 😊

Friendly, professional and was ready for collection after work the next day. Seriously impressed, if I could give more stars I would!
D. M.Purchased my cycle back in December 2017 and upgraded to the 'puncture proof' tyres. I cycle 35km round trip to work and back each day, through central London and went 2+ years without a puncture!! I recommend this upgrade to all. Free services for the first year were amazing and I have taken my bike back in every 3-4 months as their parts are so reasonably priced and usually ready the next day (if not same day).
B. M.Always 100% service from Hackney Cycles: the mechanics work hard to fix any repairs, extremely reasonable prices and very quick with a turnaround time for repairs.
Anecdotally, others have told me how much they had to pay for checkups and repairs of their bikes: I paid £21 for a puncture fix, new bell, replacement of brake cable and removal of seat bracket. All done in less than 24 hours!

The first one was £30, there's was £15 - no brainer!
Dropped it in and came back 20 minutes later and was charged just £5. They said they only needed adjusting.

D. B.Ignore the negative reviews about service in this store. It’s a local bike shop which if anyone shops in one they never have lots of space & always have bikes being worked on. ( for the guy that complained about knocking a bike over on his visIt) For those that are unhappy with the service, I ask the question how much help do you need when they only sell about 5 styles of bike.
I was in & rode away on on my new fully built and adjusted bike just 45 minutes later ( 1st bike I’ve brought for my self in 25 years) I waited longer for a take away.
Whilst I waited a couple of young lads had punctures repaired on bikes, a lady had her panniers & rack adjusted & they put together 2 other bikes for other customers.
Great little shop I definitely recommend it if you want a great value bike by the way I travelled there from Essex & I’ll definitely be making the back for my free services. Well done HC

B.i had a puncture on my front wheel when i rush to my appointment . what a day . so sad . check on google map , i found hackney cycles. so lucky it just 5 minutes for walk . so i just rushed push to the shop , and i wish i can drop my bike in the shop for repair then i take bus to go to my appointment , but i will defiantly late for that because of London bus . But when i ask shop staff ,can they help me do it quicker , they told that it only takes about 10 minutes to fix it . really ???? that means i can still on time for my appointment . normally other bike shop takes about at least 30 minutes.
what a great job ! , and they also tighten my brakes , make my brakes works much better ! and it is free of charge !

j. i.Excellent bike shop, really good value and great customer service. I brought a new rear wheel here recently and the guy fitted it and and put a new chain on for free. When I asked about getting a new matching front wheel, rather than going for the up-sale he replied "I quite like the mismatched look, happy to sell you one if you want, but why don't you save the money and see how you like it how it is?" Brilliant!
j.Went as a walk in to get my Xiaomi 365 scooters back wheel changed and they gave me an excellent service. Was a God -send after calling 10 other bike shops that evening , inc 4 different Halfords, who said I’d have to book it in and wait a week! They also put in the inner tire sealant I’d bought with the bike, into the tires for me. Great service fellas.
R.I think Hackney Cycles is wonderful. I live about an hour west, but still prefer to shop there because of how incredible the team is there. They are extremely knowledgeable and willing to teach and explain things to you. I love riding my bike around London, but I know absolutely nothing about bikes. Previously bike stores have upsold me and taken advantage of my lack of knowledge, but at Hackney Cycles I feel that they're educating me and selling me exactly what I need. I also love that if you buy a bike there they have a great warranty and service program that comes with the bike. If you're looking for a new bike, I would definitely recommend heading there.

V. B.I was cycling down Hackney road and my chain came off. I fixed the chain myself but it happened again two seconds later.
Luckily I was two mins away from Hackney Cycles who fixed my bike in five minutes, free of charge.
I popped in a couple of days later because the chain was still a bit 'crunchy'. They took it in over night. It was just a chain positioning problem.
Really impressed that they were honest about the problem and didn't charge me. Even though they took the time to service it. I noticed minor tuning on the breaks, seat and tires.
Excellent service, I will definitely come back to buy a new bike and service my current one.

r. n.I rarely write reviews, but looking at what trash is written below, I feel the need to on this occasion. This shop is close to my work, where I commute everyday, so I come here quite regularly. This is an excellent bike shop. I know a lot of bike shops in London are out there to rip you off, but this is not one of them. The staff are knowledgable and friendly, and are happy to advise on new parts as well as new bikes, as well as being large in number so there is always someone to assist you. They are one of the best stocked shops I have come across in London.I hope this has put the record straight for what is a great bike shop.
H. W.great place friendly guys recently went for a bike repair (bottom bracket) they were less than half the price of any other local places for parts and labour and they repaired same day within 1.5 hours without an appointment ! They have a nice selection of cheap bikes too
M. B.Fast, efficient and friendly service - bought a steel single speed with half price gators; keeping a hold of my receipt gives me three free services in the year following the date of purchase! I clock in 18 miles/day commuting in London and its so much easier doing it on one of these steel single-speeds than a race-ready alum/carbon road bike. Also at £160 for one of these my daily commute costs me less than £3.50/week!!!

T. F.It looks a bit ropey at first but really its a bike assembly line not a shop. They are well priced and the bike I ordered last time was as durable as it was striking. I had it for almost a year before it was stolen (probably for its head turning looks) and now I'm going back to buy another.
m. b.I had my bike 2 weeks ago. Riding from Stoke Newington to London bridge 5 days weekly. And occasionally weekends. All is good with bike so far. I was afraid for a single speed but it is not difficult at all, at least on my route. Speeds very fast. Shop staff was helpful when I was purchasing. But I'm wondering maintenance service which is 3 times free for a year (every 4 months). I will share my service experience too when the time comes.

My bike is stolen second time in very busy area of the city of London 2 days ago. This is shame of the city, I even couldn't enjoy enough with my bike and it's stolen. When I went to the place I parked, I saw another bike Locke was cut. I wasnt the only one, and many more in this city. I invite all responsable officers and security forces to take action for this bad face of London . Is this city encouraging people to ride bike or making them hate.
D. T.A bit bemused that they couldn't offer the bike I wanted, fitted with 3 spoke Mags (at the price I wanted to pay), however, the No Logo 'X-Type' - BLACK I ended up buying is a lovely ride, seem like decent blokes, will update in a few months...
T. R.Not the best around for customer service, but the guys are friendly enough. More importantly, if you are just looking for a great single-speed bike to sprint around the city on, then this is the place. Their bikes are great for the price.

M.Really impressed with this place, I was a little concerned when i phoned them first as English was not there first language but in person there were no communication issues at all and they offered great service and exceptional value for money. I managed to get a rear light, a D-shaped lock, an inner tube, pedals (including fitting), a pair of racing brake levers (including fitting), and a bit of an MOT too, all in all they were working with me for an hour, and all this for £50.
They are really nice guys to boot.

T. H.I had placed an order online which was to arrive in two business days. By the third day, I referred to the tracking for confirmation. The status was indicated as an attempted delivery which was not the case. I contacted ParcelForce directly as they were the delivering company. At first the representative was helpful, informing me the sender indicated the wrong house number, thus the delay. I was then transferred to a ParcelForce local depot. This is when I was treated poorly, being lectured over the phone by a representative. I had to contact ParcelForce again as the representative was clearly not suited for her customer service position. After wasting over an hour of my time and receiving confirmation the delivery would be delivered by the end of the day, I waited and waited. Nearing the end of the day and the last opportunity to receive the order before leaving for holiday, I contacted Hackney Cycles directly. They were super supportive and apologetic for the mistake and situation. Since I was pressed for time, they had hand delivered the bike to my location by the end of the evening. I am very much appreciate of Hackney Cycles for turning my experience around. I very much look forward to my new bike! Thank you Hackney Cycles.

Edit. One slight gripe: grip tape broke less than a month in and they didnt want to know. Had to pay for new tape and took a bit of convincing for them to not charge for fitting it. Disappointing frankly.
