Reviews of London Bike Kitchen Servicing & Repairs
M. (.
I contacted them and had a speedy reply regarding a problem with my gears and service. The open times were not in my favour as such - they were very kind and offered to receive my bike earlier, but for me I know it would not have been early enough. I received a quote along side possible costs to keep in mind. These were reasonable.
Unfortunately for them I had reached out to other mechanics. I found one much closer.
But I give 5 stars for customer service, the communication was spot on.
A. V.
Amazing place of knowledge sharing. Super accommodating and friendly. I attended a couple of workshops and had a great time. The instructors were knowledgeable and eager to share their wisdom, it’s also a great place to meet other likeminded cyclists as well as expand your horizons as to what cycling means. Mind blown
K. A.
Warm and friendly service, cheap prices and transparent communication! If I could give 6 stars I would. I won't take my bike anywhere else now.
E. C.
Helped me out a few weeks ago with a sub-optimal puncture issue. Very friendly, efficient, reliable and understanding. Hope to do a course with them once they are up and running again.
Also their newsletter is pretty funny.
L. B.
Really great quality service on my bike ahead of a planned bike tour - found a tiny crack in the front fork which I am sure would have been missed in a lot of shops, and went out of their way to source a new front fork for me. I also felt treated with respect (despite having a low end bike & being a woman) which has not been my experience in a lot of bike shops.
S. D.
Absolutely amazing service from such a fantastic team. Excellent communication and a detail quote of different options to meet my needs. So pleased with the finished service and my bike rides better than new. Super friendly and helpful staff at every step of the way.
V. L.
I attended the touring maintenance class, it was thoroughly enjoyable and informative. Nelson ran the workshop he’s extremely knowledgeable and friendly. There are so many tips and tricks highlighted during the workshop that I had not heard of and preparations that hadn’t remotely crossed my mind. I have been on a few bikepacking trips already and wish I had been to this class before went to them. Now I feel much more prepared and confident for my upcoming touring adventures having gone to this class and would recommend anyone to go! It’s a great initiative and I’m grateful I got the chance to visit LBK, will definitely be back!!

My forever bike shop – they've fixed my stubborn old bike on many occasions, but more importantly I've learnt so much about how bikes work by going to classes and using the DIY workshop, which has given me loads of confidence to be able to fix things when I'm miles from home or talk through more complicated problems with a mechanic anywhere. Even more importantly they're all lovely people who have always made me (a woman) feel welcome and valued, which is not the case in every bike shop!
K. F.
Honestly can't recommend LBK highly enough. I've done a couple of classes (wheel building and bearings) as well as a BYOB session and learned so much. Such an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable bunch - you really won't find more helpful and excellent staff anywhere. The workshop - which you can use for a small fee - is incredibly well equipped. You could easily get addicted to their enzymatic (eco) parts washer!! If that wasn't enough, they also have a saddle library... don't make an expensive and painful mistake - join the library and try before you buy!!
L. B.
Amazing place, very friendly staff, reasonable price, and at the end of the session you feel like you could fix your own bike. Highly recommended instead of spending loads on leaving your bike in a service!!!
A. D.
Everything you'd probably want when trying to get a bike fixed or really to learn about bikes and feel inspired. Knowledge, experience and passion combine to make this space a little bit more special. Thanks!
L. S.
You can tell how much these guys really like their bikes! Took my bike for repair as the chain was jumping, feel like I got a brand new bike back. They fixed issues that I wasn't aware of, but I really notice the difference when riding it now. Thank you very much :)
A. T.
Amazing Place! Come here if you want to learn how to fix and maintain your bike - I came in with a loose lock ring, and just needed to use the tool - they were accommodating and let me use their facilities for a quick fix - Alex was particularly cheery and helpful!
E. M.
V friendly and not supercilious when I had what I thought was quite a complicated issue with the back brakes on my bike.
R. L.
LBK is as good as it gets! Doing the online course now is inspiring and insightful. The in person lessons I had before lockdown were just brilliant. Couldn't ask for more.
R.
I got my bike repaired here and the service was excellent. Proactive, tailored and friendly approach.. Can't recommend more highly.
C. M.
Cosy place withe lovely and helpful people! I had no experience and no tool to fix my bike, they have been super nice and gave me good tips!
C. W.
This is such a lovely spot! Can't recommend coming here enough! You'll be looked after, learn something and by the end of it your bike will be fixed!
t.
Brilliant place, had some bike issues whilst cycling by. Nelson and the rest of the team are great! taught me how to over haul my hub and really enjoyed it, definitely recommend.
C. T.
This place is a such a gem. It literally exists to help people help themselves with bike classes (and fixing it for you, if you don't want to learn). The teachers and staff behind it are all helpful, friendly and really good at what they do. There's no ego and it feels really open and welcoming. Their classes are really cheap and I hope they never get priced out of the area.
J. N.
Can’t speak highly enough of this place. Came in with a broken bike, fixed it myself (with step by step direction from an expert) and went home. Learnt something, got stuck in, and was cheap as chips. Really refreshing and unique experience
N.
Huge fan of supporting indie & local bike shops, and the team here are just fabulous. Knowledgable, helpful and friendly. Fast turnaround service times, and honest advice. Highly recommend, would give 10 stars if I could. Thank you Amy & Tim!
N. M.
I built my bike at this workshop over the period of a few weeks. It's great to have experience and advice on hand, but also the full array of tools. Very reasonably priced to use their space and knowledge. Its given me the confidence to service my other bike, change the derailleur, re-cable, new cassette etc. Worth going if you want to learn DIY bike maintenance.
R. T.
Brilliant experience. Super friendly and honest. I had them rebuild my bike having shipped it back from the states late 2018. I had no idea on its condition as I had kept it in the box sealed up since then. Turns out it was packed extremely well and Tim accordingly charged me far less than originally quoted to cobble it together and give it the once over. Also really appreciated the lengths they go to for social distancing and sanitising any possible touch points to leave you feeling comfortable with your interaction (including disinfecting the pay machine and extending it out of the shop on long hand grabbers! Marvellous idea!)
D. S.
Unique and friendly bike workshop. They don't just want to help you, they want you to help you. They also sell parts and all sorts of extras - a great place to solve your bike problems and have a good chat...
K. B.
Really recommend going along. I am ok on small jobs on the bike but they helped me through the whole process of fitting a new chain, crank set and back wheel. Thanks!
L. F.
What a lovely bunch of people! London Bike Kitchen are not only really knowledgeable but also very friendly and patient explaining things so you really understand it - the perfect combination. Thanks guys for fantastic service, I'll be back!
P. J.
The two evenings of beginners bike maintenance passed by so quickly. A great blend of the transference of hard won knowledge and real life insights. what i most enjoyed was the great enthusiasm for cycling in general and the apparent joy in passing that on to a wider audience. loved it and can highly recommend . thank you - Phil
D. H.
Went here for self repairs on a hired stand, absolutely excellent help on hand with a huge knowledge of all different bike types. Really useful to learn a lot about your bike and how to work on it.
S. C.
The best bike shop in the 🌎
A. C.
Super friendly & helpful! Listened to what I wanted and fixed my bike quickly. Highly recommended
C. D.
Perfect if you don't quite know what to do with your bike, but don't mind getting your hands dirty (although gloves are provided if you do).
Staff are really helpful and friendly, they have all the tools and a good range of spare parts so it all works out pretty cheap and fun too!
P. U.
After attending the BYOB course this has now become one of my go to places for my bike. Not only will they help you fix your bike but they will teach you how to do it too. Brilliant. Thanks Nelson!
S. R.
these people are lovely, knowledgeable, and honest -- a great place to get your bike fixed. Warm atmosphere and warm people.
A. D.
Friendly and really knowledgeable staff that are really helpful and reliable. I learnt a lot here when attending their DIY workshop and I have recommended this place to many of my friends.
M. A.
I went there to change brake pads and found the staff really helpful and friendly. Learning how to do it myself was really fun and is making me more confident about working with my bike in the future. Much better than just paying someone and never learning. Also got expert opinion and changed my chain, great to be able to trust the people in charge.
M. S.
I my bike serviced and repaired here. Very pleasant folks who explained everything clearly and got my repairs sorted quickly.
J. S.
Great shop. The people are really friendly and knowledgeable. Can't recommend enough.
M. A.
Was super fun! I am a noob when it comes to fixing bikes and ended up fixing my wobbling wheel and adjusting the breaks. Super relaxed and patient support, definitely coming back!
T. R.
The service that I received at London Bike Kitchen was nothing but exceptional. Everyone was very knowledgeable and super friendly. Special thanks to Tim who serviced by bike, it has never run so smooth as it does now. I can't recommend highly enough.
T. B.
Great concept. A communal workshop where you just walk in, pay a reasonable sum for access to tools and expert advice and fix your bike yourself. All the spares and supplies you're likely to need you can buy there. Walked in with a wrecked inner and a nut I didn't have the tool to undo (thanks slacker LBS), rode out with a Marathon Plus (puncture proof tyre) having been shown the best way to get that on rim (I always struggled with that before). Whether you know a bit or are a complete novice I'd recommend this place over your usual LBS 'cause you will learn stuff and not only were the staff really nice and welcoming but the other people using the shop we're interesting too. Someone's going to meet their life partner here, I'm sure.
K. S.
People at the shop are very friendly and always happy to help you learn how to fix your bike!
R. S.
An amazing idea an an amazing place, super friendly staff with tons of knowledge. What a great concept, I really couldn't recommend them more.
O. M.
The classes here are amazing! Completely turned my understanding of bike mechanics around. Nelson the teacher is like a humorous encyclopedia of all things on 2 wheels. the stuff he knows is amazing. Highly recommend it.
G. B.
Amazing diy bike workshop with friendly knowledgeable staff. So glad I’ve discovered this place!
L. A.
Absolutely the best place to service your bike with as much (or as little) help you need. There are tools, stands, parts, a washing station... everything. The mechanics on hand are so helpful and respectful, guiding you through the process of fixing anything on your ride, so that at the end, not only can you cycle away on a secure and healthy bike, but you've also gained tons of knowledge on how to fix future problems yourself.
H. C.
Great setup unlike anywhere else in London where you can work on your bike in the company of the friendly and extremely knowledgable staff and volunteers. Great selection of courses if you're being put off using your bike because you're worried about maintenance.
C. G.
I've cycled past this place hundreds of times and finally made my first visit today. Exceptional service from a really helpful and friendly guy and everything you'd want from a local bike shop. I'd recommend this place above anywhere else in the area. Barclays for Bikes is a bit hit and miss and Pedal Pedlar is so pretentious I feel like taking the bus. This place is just a cool place for bike people.
L. M.
Fantastic place. Have been several times with friends and have helped massively. Staff know what they are talking about. Community feel to it. Become member as it is very handy.
S. C.
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Clearly passionate about what they do. Quick turn around and great service. Highly recommend
C. K.
I’ve built my bike there. Everyone is super nice and helpful
B. S.
Lovely guys who help you fix your bike and supply you with second hand parts.
B. M.
Delighted I found this place today. Learned a lot and will definitely come back again. Service and customer care was amazing.
I. L.
I went along for the Touring Bike Maintenance class with Nelson. I learnt so much about how bikes work and what to do in touring emergencies. I also had a really great time chatting and Nelson was the best helper possible! Loved it and would fully recommend!
T. B.
Great workshop and really helpful staff. I learnt a load on their BYOB course and came away with a shiny new stead! Have popped in since to make a few repeairs and they are always happy to see you back.
I. C.
Fab find.So empowering to be able to repair own bike.....with a bit of help of course!will defo be back
A. H.
Another great class at LBK - friendly & knowledgeable teachers. Positive place to learn about bikes. Thank you
d. i.
AWESOME! I couldn't have asked for a better place to learn about bikes :D you'll be seeing more of me guys!
R.
Community bike shop where you rent workshop space to undertake your own repairs. Great if you want to learn or don't have the space at home although not really any cheaper than a normal bike shop. Friendly group of people running it but can be quite disorganised.
B. A.
Got a puncture nearby this morning. Helpful guy had it fixed in 5 and directed me to cafe along the way while I waited. My favourite puncture ever. Made me stop for a coffee on the way to work and the chaps in LBK were really friendly. Made my day!
J. G.
Perhaps the most fun way to learn how to fix your bike. A really chilled vibe plus all the tools you need to repair your trusty steed when it starts to become slightly less trusty. Well worth becoming a member.
I. T.
I came for the bicycle maintenance foundation worshop for 2 weekends. Absolutely love this shop. It strips down to a minimum in terms of decorations. You feel like you are working in a garage, you will never find the same shop in London. Staff- Nelson, is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and very easy going! I will definitely go back for other courses.
J. G.
Took the introduction to maintenance course with Jenny. I really enjoyed the experience. Jenny has a really kind and warm approach. The whole place had a wonderfully wholesome vibe. Recommend!
S. B.
If you want to assemble your custom built bike, or perform routine maintenance, this is the perfect place to do it. All the specialised tools you'd need, professional help and highly experienced staff.
N. S.
Great bike shop for servicing, classes and accessory stuff.
S. C.
Great place to fix your bike, learn and be happy
M. M.
The DIY workshop is great, Nelson was awesome. Turned the negative of having my bike damaged into a positive, fun, educational experience :)
J. S.
I've visited LBK quite a lot, during my visits I've met lovely people and learnt a lot about bike maintenance. They've got a great selection of tools and they're always happy to help.
L. S.
Very helpful guys who fix your bike and supply you with second hand parts.
D. T.
I fixed my carrera vengeance derailleur hanger there and it was a great outcome and now I can do wheelies again.
M. P.
Great staff and hospitality! Always welcoming and knowledgeable. Wouldn't trade the experience for nothing. Keep it up!
T. O.
They're very nice here, the courses are great. However they are also disorganised and I had to chase them up way too much about a refund so 3 stars.
H.
Super friendly guys who fixed my bike within the hour! Will deffo be using LBK any time my bike needs help. Bonus is it's not a pretentious/intimidating bike shop.
C. S.
Helpful, friendly, fun! And much cheaper than getting someone else to fix it for you
T. n.
Great shop where you can learn how to repair your own bike. Nelson is a legend, and seems to know everything you would ever want to know about bikes.
M. W.
I was near by and had a flat tire .Luckily someone recommended this place .I got quick and friendly service .
Thanks:)
Q. G.
Lets just say, there's a reason they have a five star rating. Super friendly and knowledgeable. I'll be back
J. S.
Cheaper,
Faster,
Way more fun than normal bike shops!
Only place I go for tweaks and repairs!
J. P. (. J. P.
A can do a few repairs on my bike but I was stumped with a stuck pedal which defied/broke my pedal spanner when I tried to change it. After 10 mins' work with a special dismantling lubricant and some tools + advice, I was sorted. Good people, I even got a couple of tips on my riding position too! Cheers!
B. W.
I just did the Build Your Own Bike course with Tim as my tutor and it was absolutely brilliant. Tim was patient, enthusiastic, knowledgable and great fun to spend the day with. I would add that Jenni went out of her way to make sure my bike was primed for the course, to the extent that I was able to have my new frame delivered straight to their workshop and they did a load of prep work on the bike so the day would go smoothly. Jenni also did loads of legwork in helping me find my new frame which isn't quite as easy as it sounds. Invaluable. I learned shedloads and had fun doing it. Worth every penny and I now feel confident about taking my bike apart to give it a good clean and service. I had earlier done the disk brake course with Nelson and he was also extremely knowledgable, helpful, enthusiastic and patient with me as a bit of a newbie to the whole thing. I couldn't recommend the London Bike Kitchen and their ethos more highly.
A. M.
Great little repair shop, had a puncture and they showed me how to change myself for the first time and only a fiver!
J. H.
Excellent empowering DIY bike repair workshop run with obvious love and devotion. No pretension, free coffees if you're in for a repair and a relaxed vibe. If you can spare the time bring your knackered bike here and take the time to learn how to do your own repairs, don't bother with attitudes at other places that leave you as unknowledgeable when you pick you bike up as when you dropped it off.
R. W.
I attended the Tour Maintenance class Led by Nelson; he was welcoming, informative, friendly and fun. I left with lots of new skills, knowledge and confidence. Highly recommend.
N. C.
Absolutely amazing folk! I have an old diamond back that had seen better days. I had many problems with it. I adhered to all their suggestions but eventually problems became too numerous. I left it with them for a few days. I expected to pay hundreds for their fixing of it. I payed less than 40 quid. They pit in a new axel and cleaned all my gears etc. They are the friendliest people you could possibly want to fix (or help you fix) your bike.
L. E.
Cracking place, I couldn't recommend it more if you have some problems to fix your bike and want to learn how to fix it.
O. C.
Unique concept. Honest, hardworking, fun and freindly people/cyclists. Contribute towards a great cause! Buy a badge have a brew, learn stuff.. pass it on.
G. T.
A friendly group who not only fix what's wrong, but more importantly, help and teach you how to fix things yourself! Knowledgeable and helpful.
N. S.
Really friendly, helpful and knowledgable. An hour and a half of laughs and labour, and I was rejuvinated and my bike reborn. Bingo.
F. R.
Cool space to fix your own bike, they teach you what to do or you can just go in and borrow their tools. If you've not done any maintenance on your bike before, it's better to go when it's quiet because you can ask more questions and also, the first few times take AGES. But being able to change your bottom bracket yourself, or replace your groupset, or fix a puncture, means that you are at least ten times better than that guy at work who rides a carbon race bike but has never cleaned his chain.
A. G.
Learn a ton about your bike in a friendly environment, run by passionate cyclists.
S. M.
LBK is simply the best bike place for miles.
D. T.
So I saw a one star review for London Bike Kitchen on Twitter and I was like - what?!
I'm rubbish at writing reviews and rarely get around to actually do them, so when I saw this, I really wanted to make amends and try and restore balance to their lovely universe.
One star review?? Criminal Masterminds?? The cycling equivalent of Pablo Escobar?? Are you kidding me??
London Bike Kitchen and its staff of super-hero cyclists are amazing.
First up, this is a proper bike shop run by proper people who proper love bikes and cycling. They are friendly, knowledgeable, approachable and completely helpful.
Bike shops can be intimidating if you're just a normal person who happens to want to ride a bike. LBK is for all cyclists. They will give you advice, fix a puncture or a mysterious rattle, bleed your hydraulic braking system, realign your dilithium-particle-accelerator.
(Legend has it Tim strips and reassembles Bromptons, blindfolded in his coffee-breaks just to to take the edge off the day).
But seriously, they will even, via one of their friendly workshops, teach you the dark art of bicycle mechanics; if you want to learn. They will show you how to rebuild wheels, a whole bike even.
One star?? Every visit I've made to them has been a five star expereince.
Go see them for all your cycling needs. I do. I'm glad I found them.
P. S.
Great bunch of people with really competitive pricing. Worth a visit.
B. A.
Unlike most of the bike store you will find around, LBK is unique as you doing the job yourself!
Having all the tools handy and a stand makes such a massive difference. I have being cycling in London for more than a decade and usually maintenance cost you around a couple of hundred pounds (with a new chain, cassette, brake pads and plenty of grease) which is I believe far overpriced. Got charged £42 including an expensive chain - my bike is spot on , cleaned all the gears and oily parts with their enzyme based oil remover...
People! Get yourself a treat for Christmas, and go spend few hours in there to sort out your bike, bring a beer or some mulled wine and have fun 🍻🍫🤘🏽
Special thanks to Nelson - I owe you one!
At last but not least:
1/ book rather than show up
2/ Cassette and chain stock can be low (but we respect that as you won't get charged for the logistic of the big brands around)👹⚡️🏁🔧

I attended the Hydraulic Disc Brake Class run by Nelson. He was very welcoming and an engaging presenter, with a clear structure to the 3 hour lesson, and very willing to answer questions. He was obviously keen to impart his knowledge and very enthusiastic. The content was great and very hands on. I had always found the thought of bleeding my brakes very scary and now realise that its actually pretty easy and I might actually do it for myself. Even if I choose not to, I understand how my brakes work and will be more confident in knowing what a mechanic needs to do. I cannot recommend LBK highly enough after this which was my first experience.
S. S.
Great bike repair classes with all the tools

I just love this workshop! Cool people and you learn a lot!
