Had a reoccurring puncture in my bike that only Phil was able to fix. Great and quick service for a very reasonable price. Even had some extra bits serviced and got some great diy recommendations. Phil works from his flat. If you don’t find it straight away, just give him a call. He’s the best!

I gave Philip a call and then dropped my bike off the same day to have the brake repaired and a routine look over. Within a few hours I had it back - he had sorted the brake and a few other bits, pumped up the tires and when I arrived he talked me through it all then charged me a (very) reasonable price. I accidentally left my lock behind, so popped back the next day where he quickly adjusted a couple of other things I had noticed. Lovely, friendly guy - great service. Good to support independents like this in London!

After being sent away by 2 bike shops because they wouldn't patch my inner tube (why?!) I finally found Phillip's workshop: "LoveBikes". He did a terrific job in under 1 hour and I'm very happy. I had actually been trying to find this shop for a long time, since I first got my bike, but at the time I ended up at "BikeLove", just a few blocks away, which apparently used to be Phillip's former location. There seems to be a dispute between the two shops where the new owner at Phillip's former location is using a very similar name to create confusion on purpose (allegedly) in an attempt to grab some customers. I can only speak for my own experience which was excellent with Phillip at LoveBikes.

Exceptional and very personable bicycle service delivered from a funky lock-up tucked away in the the heart of Stoke Newington. I have a very ancient and slightly mashed, step thru bike that needed fixing but no extras, and rather than look down his nose at it or suggesting I do more than was necessary to get on the road again, mechanic Philip, straightforwardly explained what he could do, at what cost and agreed a turnaround time with the least amount of down time. Wouldn't go anywhere else now. Highly recommend.

My experience with Phil has always been positive and he has gone above and beyond to provide outstanding service every time I walk in. Phillip is brilliant and has a passion for bikes. One of my previous experience was as follows: My wife's bike was involved in an accident and when I took it to another bike shop, they refused to repair it saying that it's damaged beyond repair. That's when I found Phillip by chance when I was walking around and then took the same bike. Phillip did some magic in a couple of days and the bike started running so smoothly like brand new. One update is that Phil has moved from his previous location (Church Walk) to his current location (Spenser Grove), which is his home, but is looking for a new bike shop.

Highly recommend LOVEBIKES. Philip is the best! Super nice and very resourceful in making the bike what you want (ie taking the time and effort to make one-off spare parts to attach add-ons). I originally contacted him via a post on gumtree about a bike that turned out to be too big for me but he set me up with one I like even better for a really good price and with all the extra tweaks I wanted on the spot and without service charge and even worked quite late to get me my bike that day. Gave me loads of tips for cycling and .gov neighbuorhood help in getting used to the cycling here (I moved from EU). Won't get a better set up anywhere else. I even road my bike around for a couple of weeks and came back to tune up a few bits that you only really notice after cycling around for a bit. Above and beyond kind of guy. Thanks Philip! xx G

I really feel the need to write a review for this place so that others can know that there is a bike shop that doesn't try to rob you! I had my 2 wheels stolen last week and I went to numerous bike shops who barely glanced at my bike 2 seconds and gave me extortionate prices for the replacement of my wheels. I came across LOVEBIKES and met Philip who took the time to look at my bike properly and I could feel that he really wanted to help and find the best way to replace my wheels for the best price he could do it at. He was so kind and so professional. When I went back he had had also taken the time to fix my lights and add mud guards! I took in a bike that had been off the road for several months due to a broken wheel. Philip found me a second hand (really nice!) replacement wheel and fitted it for me and replaced chain and brakes. Ever heard the say 'put your money where your mouth is?' If you're looking for a local business with passion for what they do this is the place to be (It definitely is for me). I bought my bike here more than two years ago, and it's been great. Philip put it together using mostly second hand parts, giving me options and recommendations based on my budget and expectations. I love my vintage Belgian bike! Prices for the bike and each time I've gone back for service were very reasonable and I feel confident Lovebikes would not rip anyone off (as some other shop on Church Street tried to do to me). This is a brilliant repair shop, and I wouldn't visit anywhere else. You can tell that Phil is skilled at what he does, and he charges very fair prices too. I have been several times and my bike has always left in perfect working order because he's always willing to check it over one more time and do anything extra that needs doing if you have any worries. Philip is great. He's transparent about his charging and when I went in with my friend at lunch he did both bikes by 6ish. He will check over your bike and will talk through what you'd like based on your budget eg: I just needed mine road-worthy and safe so he replaced just what was necessary and tuned it up so it rode nice and smooth but he pointed out optimally what else needed doing and also educated me on how some of the parts worked and how to gear change correctly so as to not strain the chain. He also does beautiful looking custom builds for a surprisingly reasonable price! He will source the frame and parts based on budget and by the looks put together an expertly tuned beautiful bike! Him and his staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. I'd definitely recommend!

We saw the two bikes "just in" a couple of days before and then watched over the next two days as he and his helper, Brian, did an amazing job to restore the bikes to working order. i have visited love bikes today for a swap of a cog (was killing my knees this one) and i liked what i saw - a scruffy small garage tucked away from the busy streets, a sight very familiar to me who was born and raised behind the iron curtain. phil, the owner of the establishment, went straight to action while simultaneously talking on the phone, advising a fella who appeared with his two-wheeler, assessing a job of stripping a fork off its paint by a kid in his early teens (an unusual thing these days to see a kid apprenticing) and teasing a lass who was trying to leave withouth a proper goodbye, and my bike was ready to go within minutes. phil is a relaxed straightforward fella and seems to price his services honestly (hard work, he says). so, if you've just got a flat tyre, your bike needs servicing, or you want to buy yourself a reasonably priced single speed, he is your man.
