Bought the Pinto bike for our toddler, which he loves - especially his new 'brakes'!
Easy to complete the final assembly steps, all seems very solid and well made - great to even include the tools required.
Customer support has been excellent, especially considering all the supply chain issues.
No doubt the bike is going to be great for a couple of years, once we fit the pedal kit etc.

I was looking for a good light weight British designed bike for kids for some time. Came across Black Mountain Bikes. Bought a Skog and a Pinto for my daughter and son. We drove from Kent to pick the bikes with the kids. It was such pleasant experience and what a great product. Kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff was amazing!!!!

This is a great concept.
I bought one for my 5 year old boy, and he shredding the tracks with it!
The service I received was exceptional too. Andy was prompt with his expert email communications.
When we considered buying the bike, we decided that it is a 4 year investment, and our little boy is going to have a great time riding a good quality bike.
Shipping was a breeze, and the bike arrived in about a week from dispatch.
I am waiting for there next product to be released to buy it for my 7 year old!
Cheers.

Black Mountain bikes are absolute quality! I am blown away how quickly my son has learnt to ride a bike. The balance bike mode is such a big step in getting the kids to glide. Changing to the power mode (pedals) is relatively easy and because my son had the confidence to balance on the same bike. Using the pedals took around 15 mins to master. now we can go on bike rides together.

Great quality bike. My is running his Skog as a balance bike at the moment and loving it. Looking forward to mount the pedals later this summer. Really good that you can use the same bike for both balance and later with pedals. As a true bonus we can size up the bike when Leo grow taller.
It really replaces three bikes.

I purchased a 16" Skog for my son who was due to be 4 back in August 2020. I had looked at a number of brands but one of the key factors for purchasing was that the bike could grow as my son did. I made an initial enquiry with Black Mountain (BM) with regards to sizing as my son was between a Pinto & Skog. BM were very responsive & helpful. I requested the bike arrive setup up in the balance mode. With some minor assembly from myself; easily done with the provided instructions, BM's own YouTube videos, and another YouTube video for a minor brake adjustment, my son was on his way. He took to it quite quickly. I like the fact it had brakes, enabling him to be become familiar with the function rather than dragging his feet. It also set him up for small pedal mode. Again, the instructions & videos enabled me to adjust with relative ease. The journey to riding pedals independently took as long as it needed to. My son looks comfortable riding. He can spin the pedals with ease, easily apply the brakes, and push himself when required, the weight of the bike not being an issue. BM have continued to offer advice when required, I asking them more recently about adjusting the height of the handlebars. I really can't fault the bike, the buying experience, or the customer support. BM will definitely be a consideration when the time comes for my son to size up.

This is a fantastic kids bike. It's really well made and the growing frame system is a brilliant innovation. Other features like brakes that kids can easily use and belt drive instead of an oily chain are also great.
I found the process of fitting the pedals and belt tricky although this was probably a case of user error... One step in the instructions said to 'slip the belt over the front crank' or something similar, which was impossible because the belt does not stretch. I worked out that what you need to do is wind the belt on by turning the crank rather than trying to 'slip' it on. I'm sure others would not have struggled as I did but it would help if the instructions said to turn the crank to wind the belt on!

Recently bought the pinto for my child. Have to say the website is clear and accurate. The live chat/contact from staff was very good. The delivery time was excellent (2 days from purchase on standard delivery). The customer service and contact whilst waiting for delivery was excellent, checking sizing and build type etc. On arrival I checked the bike. Its construction and quality is excellent. The instructions and design are second to none and the little touches within are again top quality. I am very very impressed with everything. The only thing that may put people off is the price but please dont. This bike will grow with your child and from how it's made will last. I would definitely recommend the company and bike to anyone.
Update. So had the bike now for nearly 2 years. It's amazing. My little lad is now 4 and a bit and is just starting to grow out of the smallest size. I've used the spacers on the handle bars and they will do for a while. The bike is so solid and has taken the obvious falls very well. Its lightweight meaning he gets up hills on it, hes able to handle it through bike gates etc with ease. The bike just oozes confidence which in turn means hes now on bump tracks, jumping off kerbs and doing wheelies on it. Great bike!
Update. So my little lad is over 5 now and the bike is still going strong... Little bit of wear on the seat but he uses it on pump tracks and local bike parks. It's had some hammer but apart from the seat and a few chips... Amazing bike. My little lad is 110cm tall currently and I feel that the bike will last him for another 9 months or so till I feel he's a bit big for it or technically grown out of it. I say this as he can ride 4 to 6 miles on it quite comfortably but due to his ability I may need to consider gears. Every child is different but 4 years worth of cycling from one bike for a child will do me. Again amazing bike and can't recommend highly enough.

Fantastic idea! Bought a sky blue Pinto for my 2 year old, within a few days (around 2hrs total riding) he had mastered the balance bike. He used it this way for around a week before we installed the pedals as he was doing so well and we couldn't wait! The bike is a brilliant design, was quick and easy to install the pedals, it looks great (which gets a lot of attention from strangers!), and it's solid yet suprisingly lightweight. On another plus I haven't got a balance bike gathering dust in my shed and this will see him through a few years no question. Very happy with my purchase, would highly recommend!

This is our first bicycle for our son and I highly recommend this. Although it is pricey, but this bicycle will definitely hold its value without a doubt. Its a very good quality product and we are very very happy with it.
The customer service from Wes and Greg at Black mountain bikes was just perfect. They dealt with all queries and made our decision so easy, and moreover, this decision to buy Skog bike is 100% the best decision we have taken.
Thank you Black mountain bikes

I bought a Pinto bike for my 3 year old. It was delivered promptly and easy to put together and seems well made. My only criticism, is that I needed to adjust the brakes which was fiddly. Both front and back wheels arrived slightly bent, meaning the brake blocks rubbed on the rims. By adjusting the tension and the brake cables this was rectified. He is just big enough to ride it in balance bike mode. When I put attach the pedals, the seat is raised up by an approximately an inch so he'll need to grow an inch before using it in this mode.

Fantastic Pinto bike for our 3 year old which will grow with him and provide many years of cycling. The bike was delivered promptly and took only a few simple steps until it was fully assembled. We loved the eco-packaging! The bike is light enough that he has been able to start pedalling and is not far from independent cycling. Thank you!
P. P. (.
We purchased the Kapel 18” bike for our 6yr old. At about 110cm he is too small for a 20” and far to big for his 16” but there are very few bikes of any quality in between - certainly none with gears. This bike fits the bill and with the extending frame he will be able to continue using it for a few years to come. The build quality is fantastic, the paint is bright and the overall styling is first class.
He absolutely loves riding and is so much more independent, has a longer range and is now able to ride on grass for the first time (due to the bigger wheels)! The size fit is great and had no issues jumping on. The bike is light weight in comparison to his 16” and his older brothers 20” so a lot easier to handle.
The bike came nice packed in a box and was really simple for the two of us to assemble together within about 30mins - all tools provided.
Overall, really satisfied and worth the (hefty) price tag knowing that it will last.

I can't recommend this product/company enough. Bike arrived promptly with great communication before hand to check we were buying the correct size. For our child being able to learn to balance first, followed by using the brakes, then to evolve the bike into the pedal option was just brilliant. The instructions are really easy to follow. This allowed our child to transition at each stage with a bike they were already comfortable with giving them huge confidence to move forward. Our friends who are looking to move from balance bike to pedal bike are now guessing at what to buy and where to go.
Overall a very well thought out product, that should see your child confident with their riding. It left 2 parents on a bank holiday weekend feeling very proud of their equally proud 3 and a half year old.

Very happy with the Pinto bike and all the internet purchase process. From the very beginning, communication with the company has been clear and very efficient. The bike arrived to Catalonia in time for my son's birthday. The packaging was good and the bike arrived in good condition. The design and color are spectacular. My son loved it. He was already used to ride a balance bike without brake levers. With the Pinto in balance mode he practiced the ability to brake using hand brake levers for a couple of days and thereafter he insistently asked me to mount the pedals. After a couple of days he was already pedaling perfectly! the bike is really light and seems very easy to handle for a 4 year old.

I ordered a Pinto to Finland for my four year old. She's was about 95 cm tall when she started using it. We used it in balance mode for about a day and then made the switch to pedal mode. She's been using a smaller balance bike for about two years, so she was ready to start pedaling. The move to pedaling went great. She learned to bike on her own in like a day or so. I have nothing bad to say about the bike, it is super great! She loves it. The Pinto was the perfect size for her, and there is plenty of headroom for growth.
I only have two negatives. I actually received the wrong bike at first. But this was promptly solved by the customer service. A courier collected the bike from our place in Helsinki and I received the correct bike in a week or so.
The second negative is that the change from balance mode to pedal mode was a bit complicated. I have experience building my own bikes, so I'm not a complete beginner. But I'm not a professional. I found it impossible to replace the head tube screws when attaching the pedal seat tube without removing the rear wheel and gently bending the frame. In the manual and in the instructions video the wheel stays on during this stage. I almost stripped the bolts trying to get it to work. The space between the chain/seat stays was just too tight. But everything went fine in the end.
We are super happy with the bike as a whole. It is great.
L. f.
Really good and prompt communication. Confirmed the bike sizing before delivery to make sure everything was correct. Easy to assemble and my son's reaction was priceless. Super light weight - it makes all the difference. He used it in balance mode for a month and then was able to use the pedals in less than 15 minutes. A brilliant milestone. Since then he has been riding wherever he can!

Black Mountain bikes are the best in the world. The quality and design are of top notch. I had to do an extensive research to find a right bicycle for my son who’s physical development is lagging a bit behind. Soon as I opened the box, I was sure that I had made the best choice but I still had a doubt if it was going to work for my son. From day one I could see that he had better control and was enjoying the bike. After riding for few months in a balance mode, he now pedals on his own. I’m glad that I made the right choice - I’m pretty sure that if I’d bought a regular junk from the market, my son would’ve had to try a lot harder and probably would’ve given up. I’m so thankful to the Black Mountain team for making state-of-art bicycles focusing on children's needs. There’s nothing better than this in the market.

What a wonderful product! And what a thoroughly professional service! As avid mountain bikers we were keen to get our twins quality bikes in the hope this might kick start their love affair with biking in general, and in all honesty, we couldn't be happier.
You can tell these bikes were built by bikers for bikers!
The quality and finish is first class. On top of this you get superb functioning and well thought-out parts; from the proportionally small sized brake levers to the proper off road tires, everything has been considered and weighed up. The whole bike is nice and light with even frame angles adapted and designed to give the wee-ones a quality ride.
But these build parts and build quality only account for a part of the overall service you get. You also get a bike that that you can easily adapt and change from a balance bike all the way through to a quality pedaling bike. And then it grows as your kids grow without losing any of its well thought out original ride qualities. And if all that wasn't enough, communication and updates of purchase from Black Mountain Bikes was slick and first class from start to finish.
A definite 5/5 from us; its the type of product and level of service you wish everyone was offering!

Best bikes for kids on the market, anywhere. And made in Wales!!
Little mountain bikes that grow as your kid grows, which are robust and can go anywhere. The fantastic build quality and robustness means that the bikes hold their value well for selling on later - so that you can then buy the next level up.
My daughter has already gone from a SKØG to a HÜTTO model in just 2.5 years - and she loves that she can ride off-road and on hard-pack surfaces just as easily.

I bought a bike from Black Mountain bikes for my 4 year old boy at Christmas. He absolutely loves the bike and won’t get off it! The bike looks great and is really well built, solid but light. The company sets it up for you based on the kid’s height so it’s almost ready to go when it arrives - it took me 10 mins to put the few bits together. The customer service is excellent, really responsive and helpful. Great bike and a great company. John

From first contact to delivery, the whole experience was first class. Bike arrived in perfect condition mainly due to the bespoke packaging that helps you realise you are buying a quality product. The bike is great and my 4 year old son is now flying around all terrains confidently on it. The belt drive was one of the big plus sides for me and after a couple of months there are no oily trousers to deal with nor continued maintenance of a chain. Highly recommend this bike to anyone that maybe thinking about purchasing one for their little one. It is a bike that will outlast most out there.

I cannot recommend these bikes highly enough. We have had our now 4 year old on a pinto for over a year now. He started in balance bike mode and rapidly became very confident whizzing round the neighbourhood. Soon after that he mastered the hand brakes and was ready for pedals. Although he was reluctant to put the pedals on (toddlers aren't big fans of change!) when he finally agreed, we gave him one push and then he promptly rode 4km! The transition was practically instant! He has grown like a rocket and although it is now probably on the small side for him he is super fast and confident on it. The simplicity of swapping between modes/sizes has meant he can stay comfortable on a bike he likes and trusts through all of these changes seamlessly. Excellent, clever engineering and awesome build quality mean that we can now use it for his sister from the beginning! Thanks to everyone at Black Mountain for making a truly phenomenal kids bike!

Fantastic bike from a great company. I bought the Skog for my son and he was riding it like a pro first time out. The bike arrived in the required set up (in our case it was the smallest pedal setting) and getting it ready to ride was very easy. As well as being a brilliant design the bike is a real head turner and a good lightweight build.

I came across Black Mountain when looking for reviews on the best kids bikes. I was immediately struck by their growing frame and also the style of the bike. My little one was keen to get a "bike like Dad's" (YT Capra) and the smart frame design was enough to pass that test. The bike came within a couple of days with DPD (good choice, well done!) and was easy to assemble. I've worked on my bikes for years, but i imagine it would be easy for anyone (no harder than Ikea). We got the Pinto in balance mode and Dan was immediately scooting about. 2 weeks later he was pedalling (age 2.5). The staff were super helpful and I'm impressed with the the whole experience and product. And the other half is happy too (explained we'd save money in the long run!). Would definitely recommend!!

Without a doubt the best kids bike out there. I’m from Denmark, where we have a tradition of making quality bikes, and this one is definitely one.
The transition from balance bike to pedals is genius!. Never more these terrible “støttehjul”/support wheels. My kid went from balance to pedals in 5 minutes, with just me supporting his shoulders and helping him get started. And he is a careful child.
We have the one in neon green, which is so cool. I have experienced the color fading a little bit/turning milky, due to sun exposure. Apparently these bright neon colors are more prone to sun exposure then regular colors. I’m not sure if some polish would make it go bright green again, I’ll have to try that when I get the time.
I wrote customer service about this issue, and it’s was handled in the best possible way. I have to say that the customer service is excellent. I am a very satisfied customer.
I can’t recommend this bike enough.
It’s lightweight, greats brakes, and my kid felt comfortable immediately.
5 stars for the bike - 5 stars for customer service.
Keep up the good work.

After looking everywhere, reviewing all sorts of bikes, I eventually found myself looking at an ingenious design, beautifully built and far superior to the competition.
My 3 year old daughter is only small and she absolutely loved it as soon as I took it out of the box. Assembling was super easy and within 10 mins she was off on the balance bike setting. The fact this bike starts of small and will grow with my girl is perfect.
Within a couple of weeks, practicing her turns and brakes she was ready to upgrade to pedals. Here comes the proud daddy moment. 10 mins later, peddles on and she’s off. Would I recommend, definitely and I have several times.

We ordered my lad’s bike after reviewing many little rider bikes. Black mountain stood out as well designed and well executed. Decent materials, well thought through design and sweet colours. My boy went for the orange Skog. Bike arrived on time with great updates from a communicative team at BMB. We assembled together and sized, it was a breeze. Ten minutes post assembly and we were carving our way through the paddocks in the Surrey hills. Magic. A few months on and there is a bit of sideways action and skids to add to the fun. So well balanced. Great machine. Brilliant experience all round. Well pleased with our Orange Black Mountain!

We gave our daughter a Skog bike for her fourth birthday. It only took her a few hours to become comfortable on the bike. We never used it as balance bike. She had two of those already.
She loves the bike, both the colour and the ride. The build quality is excellent. I can't wait to get a Pinto her sister.

Absolutely incredible service and advice. I had only started to browse the website when Andy came on line and asked if I needed asistance. I was buying a bike for my 3 yr. old niece Maddy. I was sold even before I chose a bike because I knew from the outset that I was in good hands. Delivery was as promised and packaging was first class. The bike itself was even nicer than I expected. The craftmanship is excellent, the paint colour is awesome and the concept for beginner riders is excellent. It took Maddy precisely 3 outings before she asked for the first pedals to be added. Very easily done and love the no grease, belt drive. Very durable. Lightweight also make a huge difference for her mum when going out to the park and loading into trunk and carrying upstairs to the flat.
I cannot say enough nice things about the service I received. It is so nice to deal with Black Mountain Bikes, they are genuinely nice people who literally went out of their way to be of assistance. Best ONLINE shopping experience EVER. Thank you.

Amazing customer service from each member of the team I spoke to, from initial enquiry to purchase. There was also an issue with delivery totally out of the companies hands and the staff were so helpful in getting it rectified for me. When the bike arrived, the packing was pristine, everything was faultless and all parts and instructions were present. Extremely easy to put together with all the parts being of a very high quality standard. Finally, our 4 year old son ABOSOLUTELY loves his new bike. I would not hesitate to recommend this company and your bikes and have done to friends and family.

After looking at loads of kids bike on the market, we checked out Black Mountain Bikes purely because a friend we trusted had recommended them. We were very pleasantly surprised at how well thought out and made the bikes are, with a great range of colours. As Mountain Bikers, we wanted a biked that our daughter would love and enjoy as much as we do, and I can gladly say the Black Mountains bike has done this, with her confidence growing with each ride. Can highly recommend this bike.

Very nice bike, looks the business with a quality paint job and good looking wheels. The brake levers appear to have been designed well for small hands and don't require much pull strength to get them working. BUT! It is a bit overpriced. It is, after all, a tiny bike with no gears.
The headset on my model had been over tightened and was stiff and 'lumpy', this was quite obvious and I was surprised this hadn't been picked up by the pre delivery inspection which is promoted on the packaging. Luckily I can do this myself but some people don't have the tools or wouldn't even know this was wrong.
Finally on the down side, the cost of the 'mudguards' is ridiculous as they aren't even bike specific and fit in a very clumsy and imprecise fashion. If they were bike specific then maybe the cost would be justified in terms of unnecessary bling always costs more but these are plastic stamped out shapes with a couple of tie wraps. Surely these should be thrown in the box as a freebie, not thrown in the box (literally) and bent around another bit of the bike.
This review is written by Granddad before the bike is delivered for Christmas. The true test will be by Penny when she rides it and progresses onto the pedal version. I will try to remember to follow up this review then as I hope to report that it is as good as it looks and then the cost will be irrelevant to me, but not to many.

I bought the skog for my 4 year old. He'd been rising his balance bike for 2 years and was ready to move up. As a balance bike, it was a bit tall for my 103 cm boy but we had to raise the seat from the minimum height to get him on the pedals. And when he got on them, he was off. I privided minimal assistance for the first 200 m. A friend of ours got his 5 year old the sam bike on our recommendation and he just took off. Super light bike, easy to maneuver. No wonder kids learn to bike very fast on these. Seems the bike will last a few years due to design. And amazing customer service. We bought from Canada, no issues with quick delivery. Were contacted my email by an actual person who got my son's height to set up the bike for his height. Thank you black mountain bikes! We will recommend you to everyone.

Bought a Pinto for my 3 y/o son to learn balance biking and eventually (hopefully!) progress up to pedalling, all without the use of stabilisers. All going well so far. Bike packaged well and assembly was simple, with tools provided in the box together with clear instructions. I had an issue with the front brakes post-assembly and Wes from Black Mountain did a video call with me to help fix the issue - top quality service!

We absolutely love our Black Mountain bike, perfect for our 3 year old.
The design and quality is fantastic. The customer service we received from the time of ordering to receiving the bike we could not fault! Very impressed.
We look forward to seeing the bike grow with her.
D. P.
The owner of this bike loved it so much they had to be put to bed with it on the first day 😁
Hugely impressed with this bike and the buying experience. The company were in touch to make sure I was ordering the right model and that I received the bike in the correct configuration to get up and running as soon as possible. The final home assembly was easy and simple with comprehensive instructions.
The bike itself is very well made, and the quality of the components, materials and paint finish are obvious, I am confident that it’s owner will get years of use from it and that the bike will still have more life in it even after it’s original owner has outgrown it.
It really is a cracking wee bike!
J. P.
Fantastic bikes for kids with incredible build quality a true innovation. The bike is a 3-in-1 that grows with your kid (12" balance bike > 12" pedal bike > 14" pedal bike. They're built tough and look great but they're also a lot lighter than other bikes which makes learning to ride sooo much better! If you can afford them, I'd highly recommend Black Mountain to you.
The only thing to note is that a 12" bike in their range comes up quite large for the balance bike. But they quickly grow into them of course.
J. R.
Brilliant bike and Brilliant service...
Our little boy loved his bike and has been charging round the woods at every opportunity he can get.
It is a great looking design and very light weight which makes the handling perfect for a 4 year old with the added bonus that it can grow with him...
Happy boy and parents.

Best bike and customer service ever! 2 years in and the bike is still going strong. It’s grown along with the 16cm my son has. I caused an issue when I extremed the frame recently and the guys could not have been more helpful…they didn’t even take the micky!!

I am a bit of a bike enthusiast (trying to convince my wife to let me buy a 6th!), so I did quite a bit of research on the web when looking for my first son's first pedal bike.
I got the short list down to Isla Bikes, Frog, Early Rider and Black Mountain (the only new name to me). It had to be a bike explicitly designed for little people (e.g. geometry, small brakes levers etc.) and then I was looking for build quality, innovation and longevity. I like the idea of the belt drive Black Mountain and the Early Rider utilise (for cleanliness and safety). I think the build quality of Isla and Black Mountain is top notch (you get what you pay for!), but Black Mountain seem to be the more innovative and progressive new kid on the block! What clinched it for me was the fact that my son can start in the balance mode whilst getting used to having brakes (he's quite fast on his other balance bike now and trashing his shoes when he brakes with them!) then we can attach the pedals when he is ready - when he is already comfortable with the bike - and then, the money shot...not only does the frame adjust but so does the gearing (independently, I add) - genius!
Having now owned a Pinto for a few months I can say that it is a very well thought out and manufactured bike and my son loves it. It is quite expensive but it should genuinely span at least two bikes and is so well made it will survive being handed down many times and I bet the little un's won't be able to wait to get their hands on it next.
Finally, the Black Mountain team were very responsive over email with the questions that I had. Thanks again and all the best with what looks like a great British manufacturing story!
R. H.
Very pleased. My (4 year old) son was off and running following the first push off with the pedals fitted. He's happy and so I'm happy!
No issues with unpacking or swapping from balance to pedal mode. All very straightforward and having the tools included is a major plus.
Noted that the brakes are connected continental stylee. However, will be easy to swap should the need arise.

We got our son the Skøg bike for his 4th birthday. He’s an avid balance bike rider, and after about 40 minutes had no problem mastering the pedals. The bike is lightweight and easy for him to use. The green color is vivid and fun, and all the parts are very high quality. We also love the plastic-free packaging.
C. D.
We bought a Skog bike in summer 2019. The pre-sales support was excellent in helping us select the right bike - very responsive on chat, even over the weekend. The bike arrived (in plastic free packaging, no less) and looked fantastic and well-made. The upfront cost of the bike is a little more than other bikes, but we think we’ll get longevity out of it so it’s a cost saver overall. After-sales support has been excellent too – our son had a “crash” after a couple of months and damaged part of the bike, but they sent a replacement part free (and helped us to fit it by phone). It’s a small, conscientious British company making a high quality and well-designed product. These guys deserve to succeed.

My Grandson's Sky Blue Pinto arrived yesterday afternoon and upon opening the box, the bike looked fantastic and the quality outstanding.
I put it together this morning and it certainly didn't disappoint. I know that he'll absolutely love it.
Many thanks again for a superb product and the great customer service.

Found this company whilst trawling the web looking for a light weight 'proper bike' for my son. After some email dialogue with Phil from Black Mountain we chose the SKOG model. My son was thrilled with his Christmas present as it looks really cool. I set the bike up in large balance mode for him but after just two outings he asked for the pedals to be fitted. We took him to the seafront so it was nice and flat for his first ride with the pedal power pack fitted and he was off!
He rode almost 2 miles on his first ever outing with no stabilisers, he just loves his bike now we can't get him off it. It's well balanced and the geometry is just right for him too. He is very tall for his age so he is already on the largest frame setting at just 4 years old, we can't wait for the release of the SKOG's big brother so we can look at an upgrade for him in the coming months.
We wish Black Mountain Bikes all the best for the future as they're a great little Company and the staff are really helpful and friendly too.

Bought a black mountain pinto for my daughter. It's a fantastic bike which has helped her learn to ride with pedals and no stabilisers at 2yrs8months. When I had a query about putting the bike together (which wasn't hard) I received excellent and reassuring help. Highly recommended.

My son (4yo) was hesitant for changing from his small first balance bike that he had learnt on. I chose the orange which was even more brighter than his orange one (larger size SKOG) and it was an immediate hit for Christmas. A few goes getting used to its balance and we upgraded to the pedals - great idea! A couple of small trips out and he is fast on the pedals and loving doing skids with the powerful brakes.
J. D.
Fantastic product, shipped quickly and correctly. Had my 3 yr old pedalling happily within two days of switching to pedals!

After rocking with his Wishbone since he was 1 1/2 years old, it was time to get my son something bigger, leading him into an even brighter future. I got him the SKØG. He still goes in the Balance-Bike-Mode, since his feet are a bit short, getting used to the breaks, unless in some weeks I want to change it into the small Pedalbike-Mode. What can I say? I love it & he loves it even more! Everything seems solid an nice, has a good touch to it and it works smoothly and well, unlike all those trashy supermarked-bikes. Lovin it! Will keep you updated!

Fantastic little bike! Our granddaughter absolutely loves it and is very confident riding it - very lightweight and manageable for her.
Thank you Black Mountain Bikes for designing a bike that kids can actually ride with comfort and won't grow out of in 5 minutes!

Our son has had his Skog for three months now and he really loves it.
He was happily balance biking at three and a half, but then we made the mistake of getting a normal pedal bike for him. He managed to learn to ride on it, but he didn't enjoy it and his cycling adventure was nearly over before it had started.
When the Skog arrived everything changed. His confidence, as well as his bike handling, improved rapidly, and it is a real thrill for him to ride so easily and so independently. We think it has also boosted his confidence more generally being able to move so well when most of his friends are still struggling with stabilisers or restricted to scooters.
Of course the bike is expensive, but it fully justifies its premium. The light weight, the belt drive, the cool matt paint finish and the proper brakes and components make it stand out. It's certainly built to last.
But the most important benefit is that it is three bikes in one. It costs the same as a bike from a rival brand, but for that you also get the balance bike and a second pedal bike for nothing. No need for the hassle, or the financial hits, of selling two bikes as your child grows.
All in all we've got a boy who loves cycling again plus we know we've already got a brilliant larger sized bike as soon as he grows into it.

Ordered a Skog for my four year old (she's tall) and she loves it. The quality is absolutely beautiful (the quality of the frame welding and bearings, nicely machined stem, ...) - possibly better than it needs to be for a kid's bike, but I'm not complaining. Can't wait to use it more as the weather warms up.

Perfect kids bike 👍,
From communication and advise, through delivery and packaging to the actual bike. My son is 3,5 yrs old and has 100cm. Till now he had only balance bike. He got on skog and was pedalling right away. I couldnt believe it 😁. He loves the bike and so do I. It is light and well engineered. You can see people were thinking by designing it. Everything was set up just fine. I just assembled according the manual and we could go biking. I can only reccomend to everybody. I think you cant buy better bike for the money 👍👍👍.
Just a happy parent I am. Thank you black moutain team.

When looking for a larger balance bike for our grandson my wife found Black Mountain and looked at the Skog & Pinto, was blown away with the whole concept. Spoke to the Black Mountain team several times and all our questions and queries were answered. We ordered the Pinto and our grandson was immediately confident, he really loves it and can balance skilfully down small slopes as well as scooting along pavements and paths. A great buy.

Bought a SKOG for my 5yo daughter. Amazing quality bike. Sturdy and light. Great UX unboxing and putting together etc -- I almost want my own one!
My daughter was requesting the pedals after her 3rd time out on the balance bike. And by the end of the 4th session (1st with pedals), she was enthusiastically pedalling unassisted. She hasn't yet mastered how to start by herself (unless on an decline) but she's super confident at all the other things (braking, turning, pedapedal, navigating, staying on track) and we've only had about 6 outings (in total including the balance bike sessions) so far! Highly recommended.

Andy and the Black Mountain team made buying a bike for my four-year-old-son a great experience, despite us living abroad. My questions were answered promptly and in a friendly manner, and it really felt like I was dealing with a friend who was into bikes, and who wanted me and my son to have a great bike experience, too. These are the kinds of entrepreneurs that I want to support; if you're on the fence about buying, then take my word for it, you won't regret it. Andy, the Black Mountain team, and their bikes, truly are the cat's meow!

I bought a black mountain bike for my 7yr old grandson during the summer, he had been put off cycling because of a very heavy second hand bike. I got great advice from Black Mountain and although the bike was going to be slightly small for him he has a little brother who will get it passed down. The bike was amazing, after a few goes as a balance bike he got pedals on and is off. I can't recommend the bike more highly. Thank you Black Mountain bikes

Thanks for sorting the delivery etc – timing was perfect! We all love the bike and our little man is trying to ride it all over the house. The other thing that I was very impressed with is the lack of plastic packaging – the only plastic was the 3 ribbon bands round the box, the front fork spacer and front wheel spindle protectors. Mega! No packing tape to remove from the card board before it can be recycled. Our house is zero waste so we try to reduce our waste to nothing, including recycling and your packaging was fab.

I was in the process of buy two bikes from them, when they call to double check the height of my eldest. They informed me that even at the largest settings it would last her long due to her height(very tall for her age). So ended up with a refund and just one bike. Personally I thought this was a very good and genuine way to conduct business.
My youngest loves the strider at the min, but isn't ready to try the peddles. I have however had to put them on a couple of times for her to try. This was very easy to do and change back.
1 year on after having to swop peddles on and off again one of the bolts worked lose and was lost. I phoned to enquire about getting a spare part fully expecting to have to pay. However the part was dispatched and arrived at no cost.
Highly recommend this company for their product and their customer service/aftercare.

This is a really great product. It helped our daughter learn to ride a bike in a matter of days without stabilisers. Fantastic customer service. Passionate about bikes. Great quality - this will be used by several members of the family and then passed down.

Very good first bike , took ages to get due to shortages, very easy to assemble and my son loves it, a little bit pricey but worth it, just 1 complaint that the website said free delivery and I was charged 20 pounds delivery charge when queried was told that the website wasn’t updated and now they charge delivery fee..

Within one week, my 4 and a half years old grandson was able to bike 19km with 122m elevation. I am proud of my grandson and satisfied with Black Mountain SKOG bike.

I found their costumer service to be nothing short of stellar. They took the time to ensure I was satisfied and that I felt comfortable with the bike. It's a fantastic bit of kit, though would like to see it a bit lighter in weight still

The Skog has completely transformed our 4 year old’s riding! The longer geometry is spot on for inspiring confidence and the gearing is also just right.
Great job!

Wir haben mittlerweile 2 Bikes 😊. Versand nach Österreich war damals möglich. Sehr sehr netter Kontakt.

We now have 2 bikes 😊. Shipping to Austria was possible at that time. Very very nice contact. Black Mountain's growing bikes are amazing! The children make really super easy progress without changing much, e.g. E.g. for an update (impeller bike too small, bike too big with heavier gears). This is how children learn to ride a bike in a playful and fun way. That's how it should be.
