On two separate occasions, iv rang in for last minute work on my specialized stuntjumper and on both occasions they have delivered above and beyond. A while back I needed a seized thru axle removing and they stayed beyond closing to help me out, whilst ordering replacement parts. Yesterday I messaged about replacing my bottom bracket and the job was done before I even got home and I live locally. 5 star service even when they were clearly working flat out working for other customers.

I had an interesting experience here. I sent my road bike in for a service as part of the government repair scheme. The quality of the mechanical servicing is the best I have ever seen. It is clear the mechanics are very adept at what they do. However, they undertook repairs which were not highlighted during their initial assessment. They did admit this. Ultimately this caused additional expenses. Personally, I think this is seedy and disreputable. I did pay for the additional repairs since they were necessary. However, I would have expected them to consult me before carrying out the additional work. From my view this is a simple failure in communication which is such an easy fix.

David at Velo Smith is my LBS go to guy. Super friendly and knowledgeable, he has helped me out a few times with some last minute repairs and issues with a fast turn around . He is very fair with his pricing and highlights any issues with your bike or parts he may have spotted while conducting his work. Rare to find a shop of this calibre any more. In my experience the best bike shop in the area.

Received excellent service today, despite being the lockdown busy time for them. Got my wheel bearing cones tightened while I waited, and bought a few bike cleaning stuff. Dealt with David who was very helpful/thoughtful. I know it was his colleague who sorted the wheel bearings out...he's done an excellent job (I suspect that is Josh who has been mentioned by name in other comments)

Had a bike fit done here last year, sorted out a painful shoulder, and some great advice and tips. Servicing and repairs done efficiently and reasonably priced (quick turnaround considering current conditions). Highly recommended whether you're new to cycling or a seasoned rider.

Superb service and special thanks to David and the team at Velo Smith. Having been badly let down with a faulty bike bought from Tredz online I was left for weeks unable to ride and still waiting warranty repairs. David/Velo Smith was recommended to me by my local bike shop as a wheel specialist. From my initial phone call to further WhatsApp communications the level of service and advice was excellent. Good honest advice with no hard sell, images sent through to show me exactly what he was describing. Despite me ordering a custom wheel build, having explained I was stuck without a bike, David turned it around and fitted to my bike so quickly and at a good price too. This was above and beyond what I expected and cleared up the mess of a much larger company! I only regret I hadn't bought the bike from them to begin with. I recommend this shop completely and will definitely be making the trip to them for any future biking needs. Thanks again!

I came here to buy my first ever road bike and as someone who is new to cycling I hardly knew what I was looking for. Thankfully this was not a problem as David was happy to spend time to educate me and find what was best for me within my humble budget. I ordered my Nukeproof reactor in December, after shopping around and being told the earliest I could get a bike was the end of January. I popped into Velo Smith on a Saturday morning; by Tuesday morning they had built my reactor and it was ready for me to pick up, having an upgraded shock at no extra cost. I came to David and the team to have my bike fit done and mud guards installed, yet they provided much more by fixing other niggles with the bike that other places and riders ignored when I shared my annoyances about them. I've contacted Velo Smith a couple of times and they've been super helpful both times. Finally managed to visit the store today, which is very well stocked with not only some fantastic bike brands (Colnago, Bianchi to name a few), but also a good range of accessories including bike parts (if you fix your bike yourself). They're experts in wheel building, which I've not got to try out yet, but David was extremely helpful with a rather stubborn tubeless setup. Thanks again!

I'd recently gone to Velosmith to have a Kinesis Aithein Disc frame built up for me as I'd heard good things from cycling club mates. I have to say the whole experience was very impressive, not only was I made to feel welcome but the expertise and skill with which the bike was specced and built was top notch from David and Josh and to the budget I'd requested. I left with a great bike that just puts a smile on my face when I ride it. I always value customer service as a top priority for me and they provided a excellent service (and continue to do so). After much deliberation and the typical scrutinising of many deals and reviews on the web I had a chat with some friends who are members of the Plymouth Triathlon club (who compete at Ironman level) about my dilemma in coming to a decision on my first carbon road bike. They all said 'go and see Dave at Velo-Smith, he'll sort you out', well I had no idea that there was a professional bike shop practically on my door step (I live in Plympton). I promptly went to see Dave and told him my dilemma, he asked me many questions regarding the intended use of the bike and my budget and gave me a few options. One of these options was for him to build me a custom Colnago speed machine that would be ideal for triathlon/sportive/training rides, I then pestered him for a couple of weeks on adding a few 'Gucci' parts but nothing was too much trouble, I even had a set of carbon wheels as a finishing touch. The finished article was absolutely stunning and on my first proper ride on Monica (I know but she's Italian-) she returned 12 pb's. Every time I go out on her and push she gets faster. To say I'm ecstatic with what Dave delivered would be an understatement. Dave is a professional wheel builder with many years experience in the industry and what Dave and Josh do not know is not worth knowing. Dave's shop has some very sexy high-end bikes and gear that can only be best described as 'sex on wheels' but he does deal in all ranges to suit all ages and types of riders including mountain bikers. Compared to the 'other' shops in the Plymouth area the after-sales service you will receive from Dave is outstanding. You will not be disappointed. (I have also since had a hand built set of wheels for all year round use from them-excellent )

The only place I trust to build my wheels and look after my beloved Chris King hub. Very pleased with the carbon rims I recently had built, the lightest but most solid feeling wheels I've used. Plenty of nice looking Mondrakers sat in the shop ready to demo too!
