I tried to buy a bike on-line and because of delivery difficulties from abroad, my order couldn't be fulfilled. I left several messages for someone to get back to me re how to proceed, and received both emails and phone calls from several of the guys to help me sort out the problem. Ok so I haven't got a bike yet, but I feel very happy to work with this team, some of whom have put in considerable time and effort to help me. Very good customer service so far, and you can feel safe to do business with the company. Thanks guys.

Great service and fabulous range of e-bikes including the Rolls Royce manuafacturer of the e-bike world Rises &Muller! I'm actually on my 2nd e-bike from the Electric Transport Shop. The first bike was a conversion to my Brompton foldable which went like a bomb and I loved it, but more recently I was tempted by a Riese & Muller Tinker and boy is this a fantastic bike - it is so understated but leaves everyone behind at the traffic lights! The back up service from John & Jamie is second to none and personal service of the highest order is guaranteed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Picked up my Beautiful new Cube ‘Kathmandu’ e-bike today. It’s been a bit of a wait due to COVID and Brexit but oh so worth it. The customer service from Eddie and Jamie has been top notch. Great service, experienced staff and fair; I got the Ralight Motus E- bike with the colour I wanted on the date agreed and because they didn't have the smaller battery I could afford, I got an upgrad to a better battery for no extra costs! The seat was changed for me to make it more comfortable and the handle bar, including the hand breaks were adjusted. All done with great patience even though they were rushing off their feet with orders and the council scheme of 'borrow a bike'. Thank you Jamie, much appreciated!

I did a lot of research before buying an ebike. I needed an easy entry / low step due to back problems meaning I couldn't mount or dismount one with a crossbar. The help and assistance received from 3 big companies was virtually non existent (apart from one of their shops where the salesman was very knowledgeable but didn't have a single bike to show me). My local independent dealer just didn't have what I was looking for. The Electric Transport Shop hadn't been on my list purely because the other places were more conveniently located for me personally. Oh how I wish I'd saved myself time and grief and just visited their site, read the reviews and telephoned. One phone call and I was off. They actually had bikes in the shop to suit my needs - something the big places didn't have. I went to the shop and first impression was there were just quality bikes across the user range. I knew the bike I wanted but ended up going up the range - once I saw the quality of what's on offer. John and Jamie are obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about the products and their work. I decided that I needed to get some more exercise and decided that electric assisted cycling was the way forward. I began my research for the ideal bike and initially visited the Electric Transport Shop and spoke with John in November 2017. It was immediately obvious that John really knew his stuff! In addition to being very knowledgeable John spent loads of time explaining all the virtues of the different types of bikes and manufacturers. There was no pushy salesman tactics just a desire to understand my needs and to help me make the right decision. I left thinking that I had found both the right bike and shop for me but wanted to continue my research. We both cycle but my wife's knees are starting to hurt so she tried an electric bike whilst on holiday...I did too, and loved it! These things are not cheap so we did the usual research and got a bit confused then didn't feel able to differentiate fully between 'sales talk' and genuine advice. A friend suggested we spoke to John and Jamie....this was last November and they spent as long as we wanted them to, without any pressure, helping us to understand the options. More research confirmed all they said was true and their advice was spot on for what we wanted the bikes to do. This set our budget and specification for when we returned to the shop in January. John checked our thinking and Jamie helped us try a range of bikes so we could feel the subtle differences. The time we spent did not seem to worry them, even though a sale was not guaranteed, and we learned exactly which combination of their stock felt right for each of us. Then Jamie looked into the wider stock available across the other shops in their group and suggested a bike that was a little cheaper than the ones we had ridden but had, he felt, a higher specification that was even more suited to our needs. A bit different! But, by then, we had total trust in these guys. They also said a deposit would secure the bikes but, if when they were shipped up to York and we tried them but did not like them, we could either have the deposit back or buy the ones from their own stock. The bikes came last week, were constructed by Jamie (who even cut some off the handle bars as he felt they were too wide for my wife) and we tried them out. TOTALLY BRILLIANT! In our opinion Jamie and John are the best people you can go to for electric bikes....not pushy sales types; just patient, dead honest and very knowledgeable. They fully understand that most of us are worried about making an expensive mistake and they just won't let that happen.

If you're considering buying an e-bike do yourself a favour and go to see John and Jamie at The Electric Transport Shop in York. When looking at e-bikes for myself and my husband earlier this year we visited several bike shops across central England. None compared with The Electric Transport Shop for advice, support, patience or price. We were encouraged to try the bikes in the car park, and then took our preferred choices on a longer ride by the University. For health reasons, I was unsure about buying an e-bike, and whether I'd actually be able to justify the cost. We ended up visiting the shop several times and were advised on the options, their suitability and availability. We were welcomed on each occasion and were never rushed, or hassled to make a purchase. When we did decide to buy, the bikes were very quickly sourced and prepared to meet all our requirements, and included a purchase for our son who, similarly impressed, had also decided to buy from John and Jamie. Adjustments were made, and extras added, at fabulous prices and with no labour charge. Thank you so much guys. Since taking delivery, the excellent support has continued. Our son's bike developed a problem (initially thought to require a new motor) which on inspection in store the very next day Jamie identified and remedied. He also checked over the bike, again at no cost. A free service was completed a short while later, and today, my bike is on its way to be serviced too. Our e-bikes are definitely amongst the best purchases we've made for years. The combination of John and Jamie's enthusiasm, knowledge and relentless customer service ensured each of our bikes was just right for the owner. Living in hilly Derbyshire the bikes have helped us get back into cycling, have left the car largely redundant, and helped my husband lose 1.5 stones! The Electric Transport Shop, is definitely the "Carlsberg" among bike shops and is without doubt worth the 180 mile round trip needed for each visit Well done, and thank you, John and Jamie 😊

I bought a Cube e-bike from these guys last week. Started with a phone enquiry, to check stock and get bit of advice. They couldn't have been more helpful or knowledgeable. John is clearly a cycling enthusiast with a passion for getting the right bike for his customers. Next I visited the shop in York. I'm from Sheffield (very hilly) so John took me on a long, guided test-ride, to put the bike through its paces on some York hills. He then did a web search of forthcoming new models to ensure I wasn't better to wait a few weeks. There was no pressure to buy, so I went away to think. Decision made, John gave me a great deal on price and I picked up the bike a couple of days later. Jamie handled all that and again was super-helpful. Whilst I was loading the bike into my car I noticed the facia on the motor control was loose. I popped back into the shop and Jamie replaced the whole unit immediately. He then helped me load-up and off I went.The bike's great - exactly right for me. I've hardly used my car in the last week. Buying an e-bike is a major purchase. I highly recommend these guys for great advice and service.

Had to return my bike due to a broken rear rack bracket and mudguard support. The Manager John went above the call of duty, chasing up new parts and modifying the bracket to strengthen it. But even better than that, as people where being prevented from visiting the shop to retrieve their bikes due to the lock down, he delivered my bike back to me just charging for parts and his petrol! Just purchased a Haibike SDURO and I must say John was extremely helpful when I was choosing this bike. I was able to test ride it straightaway in the car park behind the shop no problem. I was really impressed and went to pick it up the next day as I was having the handlebars shortened to suit myself. Had a fantastic experience buying a Gazelle/Bosch bike from these folk. They were able to talk to me in a really informed way and obviously have a deep knowledge of all aspects of electric bikes (I'm an engineer so this impressed me). Not only did they move a little on price (which was already significantly lower than Cycle Heaven) but they threw in a bigger battery for the same price because they did not have the smaller one in stock and then to cap it all they chucked in a heavy duty Sold Secure Gold specification bike lock chain. Awesome. They are very pleasant people too and obviously enthusiasts themselves.

I visited The Electric Transport Shop just after Christmas to see if I could view a Gazelle electric bike that was on sale on their website at the time. I spoke to John who was very helpful, despite the shop being busy. They had one of the bikes in stock in my size and I was encouraged to take it out for a test ride to see if it was right for me. When I returned about 30 minutes later, I bought it. I returned to the shop a few days later because, while I loved my new bike, I didn't find the handlebars very comfortable. They went above and beyond, to replace them for me free-of-charge (it wasn't a trivial job either, as they had to remove the motor to modify one of the brake cables). Thanks for the enjoyable buying experience and the great service! I'll be back!

No doubt about it electric bikes are an investment that require good advice for, before you decide to buy. Suffering with a problematic knee, I decided to invest in an electric bike to maintain exercise and have the option to cycle without putting to much strain on my knee. I have had dodgy knees for at least the last 20 years and because of that problem and my general health I was advised cycling would be good for me. Bagged myself a sensible deal on probably the last XL size 2020 Haibike in the country!! The lads made setup adjustments while I was there and as a super large, heavy & tall rider, I have to say that their Haibike range are just incredible. My last Haibike stood upto me when I was 30stone, with a bag of tools and water on my back for over a year of trails riding. I had to return a newer big brand ebike from elsewhere because the frame flexed under load and gears were almost useless with my weight. These guys happened to have the Haibike range in stock and this one is just as rock solid as the last. (My last Haibike went to my nephew btw). After making a few adjustments back home to get the bike extra sexy and sturdy, Im over the moon that I can ride again after months of bad bikes (due to my size). TLDR: Awesome bikes, friendly and enthusiastic staff, cheeky deals sometimes ;) I cannot fault these guys or their amazing bikes for all people large and small, fit and fat!! If you are thinking about it, just go and do it. You will not regret an ebike no matter your experience or fitness levels.

I live in the Dales and had scoured many bike shops, spent hours on the phone and tried several Ebikes before I found the Electric Transport shop in York. I have a spinal condition which was getting in the way of my cycling enjoyment and I was starting to think I would never find the right bike. True to his word I visited the shop at 24 hours notice and he had ordered in and Jamie had built up 2 great bikes for me and had also other sizes should I need it. Both Jamie and John were so helpful and not at all pushy. They said I should take the bikes out for a good ride as it’s important to be sure before buying. A couple of hours later and my new bike was being loaded into the back of my car. 3 days later and I can’t stop grinning. I’m absolutely hooked! The hills of the Yorkshire Dales are now calling to be conquered and my first ride of 16 miles with 800 ft of climb was just sheer pleasure and for the first time no pain! I even acted as Gurney for my husband into the headwind! Don’t bother looking around, start your Ebike shopping with John & Jamie in York and if you have dodgy knees or spine, (or even if you don’t) definitely don’t think your cycling days are over, cos I reckon this is just the start of new adventures. Not quite sure how my wife's name keeps coming up when I try to add this review - for those interested it is Ed, not Rosie, writing the review ! I decided to add an electric drive to my ICE recumbent trike and had extensive discussions with John on the various options and the 48v system he recommended and fitted is excellent. Hills no longer exist and in my area that was becoming and increasing challenge. Initially John fitted the power unit on the top of the rear wheel rack but after some discussion the handling was improved by lowering the weight using a side pannier. As the battery unit weighs over 6 kg this is something to consider. I'm sure John and Jamie must have been fed up with the sight of me and all my queries, but they never showed it and I have ended up with an excellent set up. The power is just what I needed and I am now trying to get an idea of the 48v unit's range. I cannot recommend TETS highly enough as it is always great to work with enthusiasts.

Went to York to see and try Bosch powered electric bikes.John was really helpful and so knowledgeable.Tried a number of different bikes and with help and advice (no pushy selling) guided us toward selecting not only the correct bike for us but also a bike we wanted. When we collected the bike we did a further test ride so John could "fine tune" the adjustments to seat height/angle,handlebar reach and angle,and the brake lever position.He then walked/talked us through all the controls again and provided care advice so as to get the optimum performance and life from the battery. An electric conversion to my tandem has given it a whole new lease of life. I ride all kinds of bikes - folders, mtb, road, 3 speed, but I live by the North York moors and found that the tandem was such hard work up hills that I tended only to use it for short trips. John at the Electric Transport shop provided a set up that means we can extend our range on the tandem without getting worn out - we often use it now instead of the car. As a keen cyclist it has become an additional and fun cycling option for me, rather than a replacement for en existing bike. Hi John and Jamie. I just wanted to thank you both for absolutely exceptional customer service today. You identified and resolved a very important issue while I was cycling from Whitby to Selby. I had just popped in to let you know how delighted my wife and I were following the earlier work you had done upgrading our 2017 Haibike Bosch Xduro Trekking 4 bikes with an additional rack mounted 500w battery. What a superb upgrade this is. It makes the bike a serious touring machine. My trip from Whitby to Selby today was 69 miles and the "Range" reading at the end showed there was another 17 miles left on "Tour" setting/ 34 miles on "Eco" setting. The bike coped effortlessly with the journey including a 33% incline on the Egton Bridge to Rosedale Abbey road! Finally, I just wanted to report that the recent Bosch software upgrade has made a significant improvement to performance - especially on the "Eco" setting!

I thought long and hard ie to justify spending £££s on converting my Pashley trike into an Etrike and living in an area that does have steep inclines, I won't call them hills, (I used to live in West Yorkshire, now they do have hills..haha.) John at ETS in York was wonderful, he went above and beyond good service to make sure that my trike was safe and changed/adapted parts for my use ( I have small hands and the manual gears and brakes needed changing around).. I chose a large Carradice bag to house the electrics and John managed to house the electronics box within one of the outer pockets, thus leaving maximum carrying space for my day-to-day stuff.
