Away from home on a long distance ride and had broken the battery key off in the lock on my lovely Trek Powerful 5. York Cycle works have been absolutely brilliant and helpful to a fault, getting me a mug of coffee to calm my shattered nerves and walking with me part way to a locksmith to get a new key. They also removed the key stub in the lock which I could not. When I asked how much I should pay for their invaluable help they declined to charge me! Well done to York Cycle works and to Trek for selecting such an excellent dealer. They have certainly gone the extra mile so I can do the same.

The guys at York Cycleworks are the best I've ever come across. I purchased a Trek Emonda SL7 2022 from these guys through cyclescheme and the experience couldn't have been better!! The bike was as rare as hens teeth but Liam and Andy secured one for me, built it to my measurements and handed it over whilst answering all my questions and more, all while struggling with COVID. They were a 9hr round trip drive away but I'd do it all again. They are true professionals that really know their craft, this sees me keeping in touch with them for any queries that prop up. Thanks heaps guys!!

Absolutely chuffed with my bike after Liam helped me sort it back out again. Communication was great whilst we got all the parts ordered in ready for the workshop. He even took the time to help me identify the best chainring and cassette size for my riding. Couldn't have a better LBS!

My ‘go to’ bike shop. Knowledgeable and helpful staff, no messing just honest advice. Servicing is always excellent and my recent visit was to get a wheel fixed at short notice - total legends fitting it in and finishing the job early. Great LBS, second to none!

I couldn't have chose a more professional shop. At 41 I've decided to start road riding through the cycle to work scheme. I had no idea what I was doing in terms of bike set ups etc and I was instantly put at ease. Andy walked me through what I needed to know and took the time to go through bike sizes etc. On the day of collection, the bike was all set up through the workshop and on a turbo trainer ready to try the pedals and shoes and any last minute adjustments. I was there for about 1.5hrs, everything from shoe size fitting to practising the gears etc. I purchased a Trek Domane AL3 which comes with 2 free services through the shop. When I got the bike home I took it out for a 10mile ride and couldn't have been happier with it!

Cycle Works is my go to, hands down. I was young when I moved to York and I never imagined I'd fall into cycling the way I have, I was naïve using places like Halfords for servicing and cheap kit bikes. My first service with Cycle works bought me for life, the bike was spotless and perfect. Very satisfied. Since then I've bought a Whyte Portobello in-store on the recommendation of Fraser, which the whole team then took very good and diligent care of, answering every question, and servicing to the same excellent standards they are famous for in York, Fraser even taught me how to correct my cycling method and avoid knee discomfort/pain. They truly go the extra miles. Had a bump in the road some months down the line with the Whyte, Ryan found a manufacturer fault with the bike that impacted its integrity and my safety. Him and his team lesioned with Whyte under the manufactures warranty, received the parts for a new wheel, and built it from scratch and fitted, all without complaint. Absolute god sends. Unfortunately, I was hit by a car on this bike, but again they stood up to challenge, signposted me to legal support and did everything they needed too without issue. I think the gentleman's name is Neil (forgive me if that is incorrect ) who guided me through their post pandemic range of bikes, and supported me in choosing one of their Trek Dual Sport 4 bikes, again another excellent recommendation, and could not be more satisfied with my cycling life. Overall, the staff are kind, involved, and knowledgeable, if you choose this place for your cycle needs you wont need to choose anywhere else again, I know certainly that if I need anything doing to my bike, I trust this team to do it. Ordered my new bike today. Not available due to covid and Brexit, which I already knew would be the case. I have been using York Cycleworks for the last nine months or so as I got back into cycling. The team have been incredibly friendly, informative and helpful - coupled with that the products have always been keenly priced. Just the other day I had further reason to be pleased I went with them - I had an accident on my bike and York Cycleworks replaced my broken helmet free of charge with no fuss at all. This was courtesy of the Crash replacement offering from Trek and Bontrager. I thought I could not be more impressed with them but they again exceeded my expectations. Great service from Jon and the mechanics on two fronts. Workshops. 3 of my bikes got damaged in the floods over winter. The bike mechanics gave me some really sage advice and serviced my two road bikes so they came back like new. Great work thank you. They also took the time to look at my mountain bike and said that it probably wasn't worth the service costs as the shocks had been water damaged. They didn't charge me for this and I really appreciated their guidance. Bike fit. On the strength of the service I had received in the workshop I booked myself on a bikefit with Jon. He took 3 hours over the whole process explaining the 'why' behind every measurement, fit or stretch. I went for the £150 service and think it was perfect for an enthusiastic recreational rider/ racer. I was very happy with the adjustments and certainly feel they will add to my riding. I recently was looking for a bottom bracket for my bike. I searched all over the internet, at various well know online bike shops but couldn’t find the part or the information I needed to help me get a suitable replacement. So, almost as a last resort, I contacted York Cycle Works. My contact was with Jon, he was extraordinarily helpful. Not only did he get me an ideal replacement, he gave some advice on fitting it correctly, also he told me the exact model of my bike and the year it was made, I really can’t thank Jon enough. It’s so refreshing that with this ‘computer/internet’ world that we live in nowadays, you can still get a better and more helpful service from your local bike shop. The moral of the story is, before you go delving into the internet, contact your local bike shop, specifically York Cycle Works. They really do offer a 1st class service, Jon was especially helpful!! I went in to purchase a Trek FX3 disc. Andy was fantastic, he advised me that there was a 2 month lead time on this model, but suggested an alternative in the Whyte Shoreditch R7 instead. Fantastic, heavily recommended. Needed a spoke for a four month old Boardman. They were open, answered the phone, had them in stock. I now have a repaired bike. All in one day. Halfords who sold me the bike don't stock spokes, won't order one until you've arranged an appointment to measure the spoke because they don't keep a record of their own bikes!

Bought a new Trek Domane bike from the guys here about a month ago. Was a great experience, let me trial the bike, got a great deal on a sale bike and then had a very thorough bike fit with Jon. The bike fit particularly was brilliant. Full measurements, looked at your stance, feet, pedal action and flexibility. Done a good few miles on it and is very comfortable. I discovered cycleworks last year when i booked in to have a full bike fit. I met Jon Cooper who was excellent and clearly very experienced and professional. He was able to advise me as a novice on all aspects of cycling and setup my bike with fantastic results. Cycleworks without a doubt is one of the best shops in Yorkshire, many a time have they booked me in quickly to take a look at my bike. They also do not sell you the most expensive top of the range piece of kit they can, they get to know your needs. 10/10 for customer service. My go to bike shop for any work or advice!

Over the last few years, I've visited the shop for bike repairs and cycling gear. I've found all the staff extremely friendly and helpful, especially Joe, who always has time to offer his expert advice. I recently had a bike-fit in the shop with Jon, to achieve a better, more efficient riding position. This certainly worked for me. On my first ride a few days later it was very noticeable that I was generating more power on the bike, essentially making me go much faster (the stats don't lie!). I'd highly recommend a bike-fit with Jon, he is very knowledgeable and was thorough whilst doing the bike-fit. Basically, if you want to be more efficient and/or go faster on your bike, pay Jon in the shop a visit. It was worth every penny!

I got some wheels built here for a world tour, still perfect 2000 miles later. I then trashed the rear rim (long story) and rode 500 miles to another shop to get it rebuilt - still perfectly true, all spokes tight. Since the rebuild I've had to true it already, so the Cycleworks build was far, far superior. Their mechanics are great!

Great service from the moment I walked in (as a confused individual not know where to start!with the need of a new road bike for a London to Paris bike ride in May). They really know their stuff and gave me great advice/help/suggestions from the different types of tyres, gears spec, clips and cleats etc! I purchased a Trek 1.2 in October. Staff in the shop were very helpful, and their expertise in helping me get what i wanted was great. No pushy staff either, just there to help. It was sold as a mudguard compatable bike, but i have been having problems with the front one in particular, not fitting right and clogging up with mud. After a couple of visits, they sorted the problem by fitting a new front fork, and new front brake. Great service, can't praise them highly enough.

Called in to look at a new cycle for the wife. Had visited other shops but the bikes we wanted were REALLY HEAVY. Was greeted by friendly staff who offered help and advice but weren't pushy, Ideal! *** BEST BIKE SHOP AND STAFF IN THE UK *** Over the years the years I've have dealt with dozens of different bike shops and online retailers -nothing compares with the service at York Cycleworks. I made my first purchase with here about 10 years ago, but its only over the last two years that I've returned. The guys that work here are friendly and extremely knowledgeable and in my experience always give best advice even when that may not result in a sale. No quibble returns/exchanges when something is not right for you. My latest purchase was a Trek Madone and a pair of custom fit Lake shoes - Jon helped me through the whole process (weeks of discussions - sorry Jon) but he was great - talking through options and configurations, sorting out the bike fit and customer fitting the Lake shoes and i guess for him helping me part with my hard earned cash - he's earned my respect and now see him more of a friend working at a bike shop. I would recommend anyone to visit these guys whether you are knowledgeable or a novice they will happily guide you through to the best choice available. BTW. I am delighted with the Trek Madone or as I call it the Mad One and oh so glad that I got Di2 - just need some decent weather to get out and enjoy it ;)

After taking my existing bicycle to the store countless times for minor fixes here and there, Joe asked me about my needs and recommended a bike better suited to my uses. I tried to stick with my older bike for a while but after they had to fix it a further two times (it really wasn't very a reliable machine!) I bought the Trek Neko S that he suggested. I've been riding it for a week and still super, super happy. I also got vouchers for a couple of free services over the next year which is great since I know how thorough their work is from constantly fixing my ex-bicycle. I wish I had gone here 12 months earlier instead of being sold something totally inappropriate for my mileage and height. Rest in peace Bobbin, you were pretty but hopeless.

My initial fit was thorough and made a big difference, I revisited for a slight tweak to the settings and last weekend I complete a 100k ride with no pain whatsoever. Really helpful and knowledgeable staff. I had a few teething issues with my Trek Dual. They remedied the issues quickly on two occasions, and without charging me a total of £50.00 which they could have done as the repairs were not covered by warranty. They don't try to sell you stuff you don't need. For example, I lost the rubber bung for my usb headlight and was about to buy a new light but they said not to bother and ordered the bung itself. They took the time to explain how to maintain the bike properly - e.g. degreasing and regreasing the chain, cassette etc, not power-hosing it and so on. They do really quick maintenance work on the bike and let you know by email as soon as it's done. Would not go anywhere else.

Thank you to Ginger Jon for the bike fit on my Orbea Ora. The way I had set it up, I just wasn't comfy and couldn't hold position. Following a bike fit, I managed a 1:06 bike split for an Olympic distance triathlon. The staff are easy to deal with, knowledgeable in all disciplines and friendly! There's usually cake, too! Jon helped me initially with a bike fit but I was still suffering from a sore right foot. Jon was very helpful researching the problem and asked me to come back in for another session with him and Fraz. With some recorded video they noticed my right foot heal was drooping bellow the peddle spindle. Keeping my heal up, and using some of their custom food beds, my foot is feeling much better. I can also recommend the workshop guys too, very helpful.

Just to say that this is a real bike shop with really knowledgeable, friendly and laid back staff - I contacted then via e.mail about a bike about six weeks ago and have since joined their cycling club, bought a bike and been given coffee and cake as post ride recovery. Legendary shop. Everyone there knows their stuff. The guys there could have sold me far more than what I needed. I was up for spending the full cycle to work scheme £1000. They went through everything I needed and the limits on how I would use the bike and they sold me something much cheaper but by far the best quality bike I've ever ridden. I thought honest salespeople were a thing of the past but these guys are bob on. They have made a customer for life.
