Great place for your fresh fruit and vegetables. Good selection of herbs also eggs and fresh bread. Situated in St Pauls square in the town centre. I used the Harpur centre car park for convenience only £2:00 for two hours. Lovely historic square beautiful old Saint Pauls church and statue of John Howard. Grab a coffee at La Plaza before you leave.

An abundance of fresh produce. Prices are good considering the rising cost of living. If you want fruit and veg, eggs, meat, bread and fish, make the effort to get out and pop down there on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Support your local facilities.

Smashing market in a lovely location. All the usual stalls plus a fishmongers van and a continental bakers van. The highlight is Libby's Piaza coffee/sandwich bar. A little bit of Anglo Italian culture and always ready to have a friendly chat. Bedford icon 👍🏼

The market is nothing like it was. The number of stalls does vary but far less than there were a few years ago when the market was very good.

I go here most Saturdays. They also have the market on Wednesdays. Parking is free in some of the garages (might be all?) so that's a bonus. We love the egg stall by Corn Exchange. We also chat & they are super nice. We also get the free roaming eggs from them.
Next to them are the best fruit & veggie stall & I find they have the best prices. I tend to check the rest of the stalls out But I usually end up buying everything fruit/veggie from them.
Outside the Harpur shopping centre there are some great stalls for clothes, kitchen supplies, bags, luggage, etc.

Always an interesting place to visit, the market has become arguably one of the best places to shop during the Covid 19 pandemic. You don't get better ventilation than the great outdoors and staying socially distanced is a doddle, especially since the council seem to have cracked down on the stall creep that seemed to have set in over the last couple of years. My only reservation is that the number of stalls has gone down dramatically this year, but hopefully things will improve once infection rates fall in the spring. Something to look forward to, right?

Small market Wednesday and Saturday. Once all stallholders return post Covid it will be better. Good fruit and veg, eggs and cheese. Game from butcher especially in autumn. Council fail totally to market this venue properly, and slowly dying.
