Great place to find rare ingredients for exotic recipes. The proprietor was extremely helpful. They also make delicious bakery products for passing hungry bears. Recommended.

Very nice selection of fruits and veggies - i love buying by the weight olives there. The staff is always super nice.

Fabulous selection of world foods, I get my jasmine rice from here, they sell lovely Greek coffee, all the spices you could want, the bread looks amazing (I don't think they gave it at the weekend) and interesting sweets. The guys that work there are super nice too.

Very good shop for middle eastern ingredients. Loads and loads of dry goods for the pantry, plus a great selection of fresh breads right at the front.

They have a hood selection of Turkish and Greek produce. Their prices are reasonable. I am inly English speaking and had to guess at a few products but that adds a bit if excitement to the shop. The baklava and the olive and haloumi bread was great.

I have visited Akdeniz on a number of occasions. It boasts a very impressive range of olive oils, breads, pulses, tinned and jarred food, amongst other things. And all kinds of tea for fellow tea lovers. I think the pricing is fair and reasonable considering many items will have to be imported and this is not a big chain supermarket. I wholeheartedly disagree with the suggestions of over pricing, and I think suggestions they charge different people different rates are unreasonable. And the quality of product is always excellent. Nice guys running the place too :)

Great selection of bakery items and really terrific variety. Good prices too. In-house bakery turns out great pahoca, borek, lahmacun and mixed halloumi/olive loaves. One of Leith's not so best kept secrets!

I am being fair by giving three stars as the product quality is good, however, I think the store is pricier than others who are offering the same goods and products. Additionally, the pricing system is very unclear. Some items with stickers, some items without and the same items with two different prices. As a result, on my most recent visit I was overcharged by £1.20. This is unacceptable and a recurring theme with the reviews for this shop. Pros: good quality products Cons: expensive compared to its equivalents and unclear pricing/disregard for pricing

one of my usual supermarkets for specific products. I buy my spices there as they are of a good price and quality. They also have broken rice which is cheaper and again, of a good quality. Love their baklava and other imported stuff like Ayvar. The staff is also very friendly and they have good timetable to go shopping whenever is needed.

THE place to go for Turkish, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern and some Balkan food in northern Edinburgh. They have an in-store bakery, producing excellent breads, rolls (poğaça) and lahmacun - the latter, a thin bready dough, topped with meat, onion and spices is excellent, better than many you find in Turkey.

That's some fine place we have here. Haven't been in this area ever since before it was opened, so I just had to check this out on my last visit. It's a bit cramped but well stocked, and I've found some really rare goodies. I'll definitely make some bigger shopping next time I'll be in the area.
