Reviews of Edenmill Farm Shop, Cafe and Soft Play
A. S.
Fabulous! The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. Cafe does good coffee and baking. Soft play is great - not too big and a super separate area for teeny ones. The animal petting experience is highly recommended - never thought I'd be feeding carrots to an alpaca! The kids loved it ❤
K. W.
We had such a great afternoon at Edenmill Farm shop today. We booked the Alpaca petting experience with the kids (age 8 and 13) and all had a great time. Our guide Lynn was lovely , we got to feed the pygmy goats and alpacas plus the guinea pigs and rabbits as well as handling the chickens. We then spent time picking our own flowers and had lunch in the cafe. Would highly recommend it for a family afternoon out and will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely start to our holiday weekend.

My 2 year old grandson loves this place . Has great fun in the soft play area which has a dedicated toddler area over and above the large frame for older children . Equipment possibly a little tired , but still great fun .
Excellent cafe lets adults eat in the soft play area or in the cafe . Outdoors eating possible in summer.
The outdoor area has a children’s play area.
In the car park there are a few old tractors which my grandson likes to check out !!!
Plenty of car parking

After a long cycle over the Killpatrick hills, I stopped in for a drink and cake that was Lovely, cost about £6. I was also the first to use the new bike facilities, which were great, so very cycle friendly and right on the John Muir way for walkers too. Recommended stop if you are passing 👍🚴♂️

We go here every year with our 2 kids to pick and cut down our own Christmas tree, though you can buy pre-cut trees also. They love walking through the Christmas tree forest looking for the perfect tree, and it's a great memory for them. They like getting a cake and juice from the cafe afterwards, and a play in the play area.
D. A. K.
A very excellent place for those who are looking for a quiet walk and beautiful views, and there are services and a car park that deserves more than 5 stars

Very helpful staff ( friendly alpacas too), nice coffee and great cake. Jim the butcher was very pleasant to chat to. Going back because we want to try more of the food which looked delicious.
Photos from the walk we did from the car park.

Excellent place to stop for something to eat or drink. Especially with small kids. Enjoy the locally sourced produce and freshly made food (pizzas are very good). The farm offer s free playground outside or a pay to play indoor jungle gym complex or soft play area for toddlers. #5.95 per child is a little expensive but the kids love it. Adults can eat in the same area but not obligatory. Staff are friendly and courteous. As a tourist, Edenmill was a very pleasant surprise and looked to be a hit with the local community and not an obvious choice for tourists.
E. Y.
We took our 2 year old for the Busy Bees experience which is 1 hour petting animals and 1 hour soft play with lunch. Despite the bad weather, he had a great time and it was the perfect length of session for his age. The staff were all really friendly, he especially enjoyed petting the rabbits and meeting Donald the duck.
G. H.
A brilliant cafe/restaurant tucked in the midst of beautiful countryside.
The menu is impressive and the food of high quality, some supplied by Jim in the on site butchers. The staff are friendly and helpful too!
M. R.
Lovely little soft play; clean and tidy and fresh with frequent cleaning throughout the day. Lovely little restaurant/coffee shop as well. Perfect place to spend and wet and windy, dreich winter afternoon!
m.
Parked here and went for a walk along some of the John Muir route and around the nearby reservoir. The walk was really good we done about 7 miles and some if the views were spectacular with all the snowfall.
The farm shop itself was ok had a cafe are open for takeaways including pizzas and a butchers.
Will definitely be back for more walks and the cafe
E. M.
Brilliant for kids, lovely soft play area. Food is lovely, but it is a tad expensive but that said, I couldn't complain as food was great. Well worth visiting x
A. P.
We had our boy's birthday here and it was brilliant - the staff were very helpful, generous and relaxed allowing us lots of freedom & the kids all absolutely loved it. Could not recommend Edenmill more!
A. A.
Alas not dog friendly due to the cafe cohabiting with the farm butcher. Nevertheless the cafe makes for a most welcome stop at the end of a walk around Burncrooks reservoir.
If you have kids, there is a soft play area to keep them occupied. So far, we've visited in autumn & winter months, but it also looks like it would be a great place to visit in the warmer months since it has doors opening to outside seating on the south and west sides, with extensive views across the countryside.
L. C.
Great menu and friendly service. Nice place to reenergise after exploring the nearby forest and water board tracks.
A. B.
Nice place with great food and an enjoyable view through the windows wall. Cantine style with a tasty full Scottish breakfast for close to £10 (without drink)
The indoor soft play for an extra £4.95 for 2hrs is a nice and convenient addition! While not the cheapest, quality is fair for the price on the restaurant/coffee side. Surely a bit much for the soft play..
C. B.
The food here is very enjoyable. Great breakfast menu. Indoor and outdoor seating area. They do have high chairs/infant and toddler seats for dinning. There is a small shop with a few deli/butcher cases with fresh items for sale; fresh meat, sausages, cheese.
It is located conveniently beside a very popular hiking trail. You can easily stop here for lunch or dinner on a hike, or begin your hike here. There is a play area outside for small children and there is soft play inside the large barn.
There is also accommodations.
We stayed at the INN called “the attic” which is upstairs. Very new facilities, very large kitchen and common area to share meals and get to know other guests and travelers. Very decent selection of pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, eating and cooking utensils. The refrigerator is quite small so don’t plan to buy and store food, just pickup what you will use for 1-2 days. 2 electric stoves/ovens, 2 kitchen sinks with large drain boards.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
S. G.
Had a great time on the alpaca trek! Kids really enjoyed it and the guide is an absolute asset to the farm. 😁
R. E. (.
lovely place for kids and parents. the alpaca's are adorable you can walk them or feed them if you like to do that. there is also a coffee shop and butcher shop if you want to grab a cofee or getting you good cut of meat. there is so many thing you can like playing on the old farm machinery on the site and soft play.
C. M.
Great outdoor play area for toddlers, food is excellent especially toasties
N. L.
Great place for kids. We were staying here for a wedding and had a rainy day. Bringing our infant helped us fill up the morning. Great play place. It got crowded on a Sunday by mid morning but still tons of area to play
The food looked good but didn't have any. The late was very watery (with oat milk) but otherwise a great place to go
O. L.
First visit to E M.A big, airy cafe.
Welcoming staff, but uninspiring selection of sandwiches, a d special venison burgers were finished.
. We opted for chicken, ham .mayonnaise with spinach and salad. The brown bread was very fresh and generous pieces of chicken. A token gesture of ham and a huge amount of very bland mayo.
A bit disappointed.
K. W.
Nice little cafe/restaurant with a local butcher on side. Staff is friendly, kids and families are welcome as they have a soft play on side.
C. D.
Only place for breakfast when you visit Finnich Glin. But it around 4 mile away. Breakfast and coffee was awesome. Best place after tired in Finnich glin where you throw your child in soft play and take coffee.
T. W.
Great wee place for a few hours out with the kids. Good soft play area, cafe and I've enjoyed their steak pies from the butcher's shop. The service was very good and dependent on time of year (it was December when I visited) you can buy or 'cut your own' real Chrimbo tree which is a good family activity for the family, in addition (during December) Santa Claus makes an appearance for the kids to enjoy.
E. B.
Our first visit today. We were impressed with the lovely food and very efficient staff. Our drinks and cakes were on the table before we had even finished paying for lunch. A nice bright, clean well organised cafe and small farm shop.. Will definitely return.
L. J. S. S.
A very nice place to enjoy with family and friends. The food is simply delicious and the service is great. We really liked the fact that all the ingredients used to prepare the food are taken from local sources. We are looking forward to return and enjoy the farm with our kids.
A. G.
Son loved it, like most soft plays inside but with better food. 👍🏻
J. H.
Great start for a walk around Burncrooks reservoir and excellent cafe for the finish 🍔🥪🥣🫖🥤👍
M. B.
The Alpaca trek was brilliant. Will definately make it a regular wee day out. My daughter, my husband and myself loved it. Rio, Logie and Sully the Alpacas were great.
j. u.
Great soft play area dine in or out terrific for kids and their parents great lama visit Lynn was a great host
s. m.
Great place in lovely scenery.were greeted with a donkey and small pony at side of entrance animals straight away brilliant.great soft play and amazing home baked cakes also made it even better on leaving seen two new born lambs to got to clap them was nice also take hand gel if get chance to touch animals for after great day out.
W. H.
Edenmill is nice but a little bit pricey for lunch. I took my wee one to soft play. There is a smaller section for under 2's and a larger section for 12's and under. Soft play for 2 hours is approx £7.00 (once booking fee online is added) lunch for both myself and the wee one came to £16. I had the poshdog (hot dog with sauerkraut and mustard) chips and salad. The kids menu is good. Plenty to choose from.
The wee butchers shop wasn't open which was a little disappointing but never mind. Overall is good for a little day out and the wee one enjoyed it. There is an outdoor cafe too which offers roasted marshmallows too and coffee etc.
A. K.
Ordered soup and burger with chips, Very tasty and delicious. Only downside the starter came out as same time as main. Had to rush soup so as burger didn't go cold.
Staff were very pleasant 😊
S. K.
Great staff and the cake isn't too bad! The animal petting area is great. The keeper, Caitlin, really knew her stuff and had a clear passion for the animals. The kids loved the rabbits and sheep. The alpaca were the stars of the show. The restaurant staff were very friendly even dealing with demanding, rude, toff customers with a smile. 10 out of 10 for cleanliness and organisation. We'll certainly be back.
L. l.
Great parking to walk from to various reservoirs.Car park can be very busy.Carry out coffee and food available.Beautiful area.
s. w.
The softplay area was decent for a 2 year old to play freely. Wasnt over crowded at all. The food isnt the greatest for what you would expect as a random visitor, but the ingredients are all locally sourced and keeping the local business in business is the best way to go for the community.
So 5 stars for the hidden gem of a location.
A. M.
Visited on a Sunday for brunch with my daughters and partners. Had originally booked an inside table but it was a gloriously sunny day asked for an outside one, not a problem though we didn't expect the plates to be replaced by paper bags and cardboard carry out boxes. Not great. Food excellent, service efficient. Location and atmosphere very pleasant.
A. m.
Lovely wee cafe and very friendly efficient staff . Had BLT Foccaca and Cullen skink soup. The soup was tasty and everything was fresh. Looked like they had nice cakes and pizzas on offer as well . Will defo be back .
A. C.
I took my granddaughter and her mum to the drive through Santa experience at Edenmill. The place was very festive, gorgeous trees and the whole drive through area lit with coloured lights. Alpacas and peacocks at start then we were welcomed by a friendly, lovely Mrs. Claus. She had us singing jingle bells and laughing. Santa was a lovely, jolly man. They both spent a good long time talking to my dranddaughter and her gift was a beautiful soft toy and drawing set. We then had a nice meal served by a lovely lady with a sparkly mask in the take away van. We were in the car for the whole experience which was great as it was a cold evening. Well worth the money.
H. B.
Lovely food as always nice atmosphere friendly staff
L. B.
Fantastic place to visit. Great coffee shop with freshly made food. They have a petting zoo and alpaca trekking.
Lovely local walks aswell.
C. M.
Staff is very friendly, and helpful, plenty of space and things to do for the young children
S. M.
Food was superb, nice little softplay bit to entertain the kids, looked like it had a nice outdoor area too, but it was wet the day we went. Definitely be back 😁
E. M.
After a cold wet walk around Burncrooks, Eden Mill was a very welcome refuge. We had the Lentil soup and crusty roll and a drink. The soup was beautiful. We will visit again. 😋😊
L.
Amazing softplay and cafe. We have been going since they recently reopened. They do a lovely toddler morning a few times a week and parents can enjoy a lovely breakfast while the kids play.
We recently won a free visit on Facebook and it was amazing. Brilliant meal, tea and cake for two and kids were fed and happy to play.
I would recommend this place.
The staff are brilliant, nothing is too much for them.
We have three autistic kids and this place works for us as a family. The drive there can be a bit tricky but they have a big free car park and you can even buy things from their on site butcher and little things they sell.
They also do parties (although I've never been to one yet) seem great value.
Great for hot or cold days.
The seem to have places you can stay too so good for walkers in the area. Hot high standard meal (nice cakes and deserts to follow) and place to lay your head.
R. T.
The place has been renovated to a very nice cafe, has a good selection of food. Ideal for families as it has playground. Very pleasant atmosphere surrounded by farmland. There is accommodation available for travellers. Great for walkers, trail runners any outdoor activities. Would recommend
T. N.
We love this place. Not an overly big softplay which is perfect & the food is amazing! Closed just now for refurbishment. Can't wait to see what it's like once it re-opens!
I. G.
Lovely place to take children. Staff really nice. Large lunch menu and very nice. Soft play area is good. Could do with fixing the go carts and having a few more outside things to do for kids. Highly recommended
C. O.
Went for a walk along the John Muir Way. Lovely but icy. Car park very large.
D. C.
We've just been for lunch. It was excellent. They even cater well for vegans, although no vegan cakes today! (I'm available for consultancy on this).
Great location, friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating. Can't think of anything negative to say.
A. P.
Nice place to stop for a coffee or a bite to eat. The kids can play in the soft play whilst have a coffee in the cafe. Much better than the usual business units that are pretty grotty. There's a butchers in there too. We arrived during the busy Christmas period and there were plenty of customers for the butchers meat.
K. M.
Great place for a casual snack and a country walk. We had breakfast (great lorne sausage) and coffee. All good and then a 10k walk round the reservoir. A great place for a day out in the country but follow the signs and not your sat nav as mine tried to take me up a private road at Carbeth Fishery!
D. S.
Fabulous time had by all at Santa's 🎅 grotto 🎅 food was pretty good too would definitely recommend
S. D.
Lovely wee cafe with the most stunning views of hills and countryside! Play area outside cafe windows is well maintained, the bigger ones can be out playing whist you finish your coffee. Coffee is rich and smooth, very tasty! Home baking is sold from a local baker and it tastes “just like Granny made”. The deli is well stocked with a selection of foods, well worth a visit!
C. W.
Nice, clean and perfect for young families looking to get away for fun. Although we don't have children we enjoyed the room (great to have an en suite in a hostel). The food at the Cafe was very good!
F. B.
Like a previous reviewer we thought it wasn't far away from Balmore. But 20 mins later we arrived. We've been to quite a few soft play areas and this one is OK but not suitable for our 21 moth old. We ordered 2 hot dogs which were OK. Chips looked as if they had been sitting for ages coffee was nice. But I wouldn't visit again. As few wee soft steps would help the younger children get in and out the area.
S. C.
Great place to go with the kids. Staff are very friendly. Also recommended taking a walk up to the reservoir if you are wanting to make a day of it.
L. M. (.
Lovely outdoor space, great food at rather affordable prices
A. P.
Great lunch esp the Cullen skink. Fantastic steak pie to take home from the butcher counter for dinner. Dog friendly uncovered outdoor seating if weather allows. Will be back. Second time lost a star for less than friendly staff and dry sponge. Good coffee though.
M. S.
Was fairly quiet when we visited though car park busy. Well laid out with extensive outdoor seating. Café was good. Friendly staff. Good tea and cake!
j. a.
Lovely food ,good service.
Farmhouse good selection.
L. A.
Great food, excellent soft play (used to be a bit cold but seem to have sorted that out when they renovated it last year). Definitely worth a visit. We keep going back and look forwards to the summer as they have a lovely outdoor area with animals.
A. M. R.
Ok for coffee and cake but a bit out of the beaten track during winter would be nice in the summer months.
C. M.
Great cafe with friendly helpful staff, outside seating and kids play area, lovely walks nearby, a safe place to bring the kids.
P. A.
Was there today for Easter Bunny. My granddaughter just loved it. From counting eggs to finding the letters and seeing and talking to Easter Bunny. Also seeing the Gruffilo who had stolen an egg from someone, she held onto hers lol. The gifts she got from Bunny was fab and she just loved them. Food at the end was great as well. Keep up the hood work people. X
L. P.
Staff were nice but ordered two bits of cake got one cake halved still charged for two also changing the nappy disposable bin would help not just babies that use the designated toilet it was full and the smell was too much
V. M.
Received a warm welcome, service good, only had coffee, tea and cake, not a meal but it was all good. The play area for children is excellent, it's not only for young children but targeted for older kids as well.
R. B. R.
It's not a proper country side like looking farm shop. It's very modern and very spacious cafe. I had a bacon roll and was expecting it to be very tasty but no it was so tasteless. It's OK place for coffee and stuff but I wouldn't go there for meat.
R. Z.
Delicious, wholesome food, beautiful setting and the most helpful'n 'friendly staff. A real treat.
I. A.
Nice place for a cuppa and a meal , lovely and functional nice Butchers shop as well
A. A.
Fantastic experience walking with the Alpacas today. Super Guide who was knowledgeable and made our time special. Fab butcher shop and cafe too.
R. A.
Went there today. Coffee and cake were good, however, in the soft play there was no supervision and some children were playing dangerously climbing up the slide and throwing balls at me an my child when we asked them politely to move so that we could go down without causing danger to them or myself and my child. I mentioned it to the staff in the coffee shop who apologised but this didn't result in anyone coming through to supervise. Its OK when quiet but when gets busy, which doesn't take a lot, as it is quite small, it can get chaotic and if parents are un willing to control there children then also quite dangerous. I did mention the children who refused to move away from the slide and her response was one of didn't care.
L. j.
Nice coffee and cakes. We were disappointed that after a long freezing walk, we couldn't take our dog in. Perhaps a few outdoor heaters and seating area could remedy this. Given that there are great walks in this area and most walkers have dogs, and enjoy a coffee after a long walk. Take note John Lewis are becoming dog friendly!
D. P.
Really nice location out in the country roads. A unique dining setting with views of the countryside, and more importantly for us a super fun soft play with seating for mums and dads to enjoy their lunch.
D. M.
Went for lunch with daughters and gran. Food was excellent with very generous portions. Youngest daughter is a Mac'n'cheese afficianado and declared the Mac'n'cheese was the best she's ever had, which is saying something. The salad accompanying the mains was fresh and had proper crunchy lettuce as opposed to the warm soggy leaves you normally see as a side - and the cakes were delish too. Very impressed.
A. S.
Lovely location, great outside seating, 5 stars for families with kids, not so much for old grumps. Menu a little limited.
K. N.
I ordered a Christmas tree online and it absolutely beautiful, came all wrapped up so easy to carry in without making mess, its fresh and full and the price was £31 including delivery which is excellent value. Highly recommend and will be getting my tree from her going forward. The team were helpful and kept in contact with me via email
Thank you Team and have a great Christmas
M. H.
Lovely place we went for lunch which was lovely staff were very nice and helpful definitely visit again
M. S.
All I can say is. I’ve been all over the world, and this is the nicest food I think we’ve ever had. There produce is super fresh and 100% goes into everything. Customer service is unbelievable and so is the place. It’s a must do. Perfect for after the devils pulpit.
S. M.
Good fun for 3 year old. Not to busy on weekday morning with around 20 kids.
L. F.
Really great breakfasts, nice lunch options, lovely environment that is bright and airy and friendly staff.
D. M.
Stunning scenery. Nice cafe. Decent soft play. Would recommend.
J. N.
(written during covid-19 restrictions) Good walking route, good produce in cafe (open for takeaway only). Be aware due to current restrictions, public toilets are closed.
J. S.
This is a very nice coffee and cake place it’s a bit of the beaten path but the coffee is exceptional even better than named chains and the coffee and walnut cake was delicious.
S. I.
Decent coffee but It's a shame to go to a farm and get a burger with frozen fries and most of the ingredients coming out of a package.
C. A. H.
Had a great day out with the alpaca. Will definitely return.
G. C.
Such a lovely place 1st time ive been. Food was good and kids loved it. Could do with more staff in soft play area though
L. M.
Very nice lunch and great outdoor play area for the kids. Will definitely return soon.
T. C.
love this wee place, kids can walk with llamas, nice countryside, cool old tractors, on The John Muir Way footpath, there's a cracking lake at the top of the hill, excellent views 👍

Excellent place. My kids enjoy coming here regularly. Food is lovely also. Although wish they done more of the lentil soup.
M. G.
Lovely setting in the countryside. Great Butchers shop and the home baked cakes in the cafe are delicious. Great play area for the kids.

Great place for small kids unfortunately gokarts were broken so kids couldn't enjoy themselves as much as they would. Good soft play and very good food from local butcher

J. A. D.
Good food, but children can escape too easily for you to relax fully and the soft play could be more extensive.
