Reviews of Japan Centre Ichiba
M. L.
Paradise for Japan lovers like me!! You can find so many things plus you can eat in as well if you want to and there's a wide selections of drinks and food to choose from. Only downside is you risk spending a ton of money cause prices are generally quite expensive. But it's worth it! Everything looks tidy and well organised on the shelves and service is efficient.
D. S.
Good food, portion sizes are reasonable and so much flavour! Also nice and quick service, the shopping is a little expensive for some things, however that’s to be expected for imported products! Come here frequently and love it!
a. r.
Good choice of products and fair prices. When it comes to food however there is scope for improvement. Sukiyaki soba and donburi tempura nothing special. The fried tofu was quite good though. All considered the experience was pleasant and the staff kind. However, you can find better places around.
L. C.
Best Ramen I've ever had, albeit I'm no expert. Loved just sitting there watching them make bowl after bowl while reading my book, v cool. Good shop too to take home more noodles and miso soup.
T. R.
A vaste selection of Japanese products, spanning from food to Japanese house tools and books. While the amount of ingredients, tea, drinks etc that you can get hold of at the Japan Centre Ichiba is great, I was not too impressed with the food. I had a donburi tempura (vegetable tempura with rice below) and while it was filling and the tempura was crunchy the taste was a tiny bit bland from my viewpoint. The beer was big but I wish I could have tried Sapporo beer: while it was on the menu it was unavailable. The tofu skewer was tasty. The dishes themselves not too hot.

We spent a day in London and we couldn't leave without going to the Japan center.
My husband being Japanese and we leave far away from London we had to take this opportunity to check it out.
We enjoyed the Ramen - not incredible but good for European standard.
Incredible variety of Japanese products which is very difficult to put your hands on in any Asian Market... here you can find it.
It's quiet expensive but that's what you get for Japanese products 🤷♀️ outside Japan.
Oh we found Melon Pan!! My kids loved it!

Stumbled across this place during an impromptu visit to Westfield White City. My friend noticed Ichiba as soon as we entered the shopping complex and at first glance it seemed a great billboard for Japanese culture, and boy did it deliver!
From the diverse (and well stocked) assortment of imported goods to the pleasant customer service; as well as the overall tranquil vibe of the Japan Centre, it is certainly somewhere you could spend endless amounts of time at!
Wandering throughout the shop, my friend and I were greeted with constant surprises at every turn that made the experience that much more enjoyable and memorable.
Westfield White City is not my local shopping centre but if I'm ever back, I will surely be returning to this establishment as it left a lasting great impression :)

Pretty cool little asian mini-shopping-center 💮 they have Ramen, Bao, sushi and other dishes 🍜🍣 The beer they serve is a bit watery 😑 and the bao looks small with very few ingrediants for the price... but it tastes ok. You go to the main shop counter to order and pay - you then wait for this electronic pad to beep before collecting your meal from the food counter. There are sushi/bento dishes to buy or take away also at the back of the shop 🥢 There are loads of products to buy like cooking sauces, noodle packets, sweets - even a place for stationary and kitchenware
N. A.
Great sushi selections and many more Japanese food options. This venue has so much to offer from snacks to sauces, rice, noodles and also bubble tea!
A. R.
Lovely little place to explore the Japanese culture and their food. It's essentially a fancy grocery store. I have never seen so many varieties of instant noodles in one place. They also sell delicious hot food. I am absolutely in love with this place!
B.
Nice but I find it little expensive compared to other shops…maybe of the location. We came for takoyaki and unfortunately they don’t have it so we just bought some teas and noodles.
P. V.
Amazing Japan centre with lots of options to choose from. You can have ready to eat Japanese snacks or sit down for a proper meal, and it's cheaper than the Japanese centre in Piccadilly Circus so I'm all for this place. Food is really good, staff is very friendly and service is pretty fast.
W. M.
Amazing products, great customer service and friendliness from staff, and authentic Japanese hot food. 10/10 gyoza
K. N.
Could do with someone in store to guide browsers through the product line and a little bit on the pricey side but well worth it for the cultural experience. The sushi is absolutely amazing. Will definitely stop by again.
U. U.
Lovely store which lots of interesting products however they also have shoryu ramen! The spicy vegetarian Raman is amazing. Probably one of the best ramen I have tried.
A. B.
Ichiba has some great products and food in its store. However most of it is now not of Japanese origin Considering it as Japanese shop I would want more Japanese products.
However the hot food is good. The staff is friendly. It's a good Asian store now.
J. V.
Good ramen, although the sushi is not as good as you may find somewhere else. Good place to discover new flavours.
A. P.
The Japan Centre located in the second floor of the White City Westfield mall is a combination of retail shop, eatery and restaurant. While the retail space is large, the variety of items on the shop floor is not significant when compared to the Longdan Oriental Supermarket in Camden. There is an over emphasis on homeware, noddles, saki and tea items.
The food & drink menu priced between £4.50 and £15 offers ramen noodles, sashimi, donburi & poke and baked goods. The highlight is the takoyaki, okonomiyaki & yakisoba which are served in front of seated customers. While the ramden broth was tasty and the gyoza fresh it did not beat the taste of more authentic places such as Kanada Ya.
The service, while friendly is slow and reactive. Case in point, it took twenty minutes to order the food with a single attendant and cash register open for a line of twenty people. While the Japan Centre Ichiba offers a variety of Japanese food and drink, the speed of service needs to be significantly improved.
W. H.
Eat in with a good choice of Japanese cuisine. The supermarket itself caters for both authentic and novelty Japanese items. Great place to go as part of a day out or even to window shop.
A. A.
I come here often because I work nearby, the majority of the staff is nice and the location is good. I prefer the hot food, I'm not amazed by the sushi. A lot of choices if you want to do some shopping
A. P. (.
Food is amazing, freshly done, big shop with massive variety of products. Bit expensive tho
C. G.
So I really enjoy the food here and selection of goods on offer is amazing. The non-5 star review is because I always end up queuing quite a lot for things and the process of getting hot food is less than logical and frequently changes (even within a single visit) Prices are perhaps a little high but the quality is good. Also the table area in winter has a really cold draft from the large doors that open into it directly from outside. The tables could be cleaner and there is no obvious place to return trays so they are often just left around. The layout is also strange and despite the original high standard of fit out now feels disjointed and slightly odd with lots of under utilised space and other areas overly cramped.
S. S.
For two people, we spent about £28ish for a nice ramen meal. Please note the only other ramen place I’ve tried in London was Wagamama’s which sucks (bleh). However, the ramen here is comparable to great Ramen places in LA. I like how the broth tastes (not too salty compared other ramen places) and the portions will definitely make you full! Definitely come here for some ramen if you’re in Westfield London!
L. G.
Nice Japanese shop and cafe. Spotlessly clean but they didn't have umenoshi paste so frustrating. But will go there foe any Japanese good fresh or frozen
S. M.
I can't express how much I love Ichiba!
Staff are so friendly and coordinated, and the products are reasonable prices. Such an easy flow of customer service at the dine-in area, and by far one of the tastiest meals I have had in a long time!
K. D.
Alright for a Hakata style Tonkotsu ramen in the absence of flights to Japan.
When it first opened, the soup base was more authentically Hakata (thick pork broth) but I guess they had to cater to the Western palate hitherto unexposed to the tasty wholesome goodness of a thick, nourishing broth. The soft boiled egg erred on the hard boiled egg side. I would say on average the Oxford branch fared a bit better in terms of the level of cooking.
C. P.
A Japanese grocer-cum-ramen restaurant. The grocery range is great and contains products that are otherwise hard to find in London, however everything is priced really high.
The ramen was very tasty and they had vegan options availabke. Okonomyiaki was not as fresh or tasty as ones I’ve had in Japan or Australia, but hit the spot!
O. L.
The japan centre is offering a wide range of japanese products, including sushi and curries that you can eat there, hot or cold depending on the dish. In addition to that there is the possibility of buying noodles, chips, sweets and many other different japanese ingredients
A. D. P.
Bought sushi here and it was incredible. Big chunky pieces of raw fish in each roll. So good. Rest of the shop was nice, but overpriced.
P. K. L.
Japan centre is now a great place. Staff all respect Japanese culture. The food staff were patient and helpful to my requests and the food came out hot and well prepared but their sushi and drinks selection have been reduced from before.
R. S.
Fantastic place to not only try freshly made japanese hot dishes and sushi, but also buy all the necessary ingredients which are not easy to find. Have eaten here multiple times and quality is very high.
A.
Amazing food and so much to choose from. The ramen meal deal is great value and soo delicious! Lots of different food counters as well as the supermarket to look around. 100% recommend :)
S. T.
Good selection of Japanese grocery items. Lots of different hot food offerings too with some seating. It is fairly expensive though!
Y. (.
It was bit hard to find but definitely lovely clean environment. It could have more food related section and would be lovely if they can have more Kawaii section. But still managed to find Hello Kitty Japan guide (which I am showing my daughter) so definitely worth visiting
M. J. B.
If you want to try something new for lunch then this is the place to go. Healthy sushi along with other Japanese delights on sale, all really fresh and tasty. The shop also stocks many other Japanese consumables and general goods to create your own food at home.
H. O.
It locates on the ground floor in John Lewis. Various Japanese foods are sold like raw To-fu, konjacs and salted plums, though a bit expensive. The Bento station handled mainly sushi as if Wasabi store but sadly no other Japanese soul foods like rice ball found.
H. A.
Open plan store. Loads of authentic Japanese products and large variety of selection. We ate at the sushi bar and also got the ramen. Very fresh fish on the sushi, high quality. Best place to get noodles and mochi for home as well. Plan on getting the sushi rice to do myself at home in the future. Highly recommend!
S. A. N.
... we had to walk away on our first visit as the queue was very long with only 2 tills open, we visited during off peak hours and enjoyed the experience. ramen was delicious . will definitely go back to try other dishes. best time would be as soon as they open or later in the evening during weekends. afternoons are really busy and you might struggle to find a seat. weekdays are not too bad.
H. S.
Love to go to Ichiba and grab my groceries. Nice staff, very clean and organized, good range of products and a perfect menu for any time. Ramen is amazing, as same as in the restaurant, and I recommend bakery section. There's kakigori and bubble tea as well. Prices are a bit higher than most street shops, but the convenience compensate.
If anyone wants a manga or anime merch, it's a nice spot to grab most common stuff.
B.
Great selection of products (3000+), very nice decorations, short queue and prices are normal to high in this big Ichiba store.
Skilled & friendly staff.
Highly recommend to pay a visit!
R. S.
Great place, lots of options on Japanese groceries and excellent freshly made food. Must try the Ramen and the Chicken Katsu at the restaurant.
A. M.
Of course the Japan centre is much bigger. But Ichiba is a great place if you live in the area to get your Japanese shopping and food fix. Nice beef miso brown rice dish and good hot food choices. Selection of Japanese whiskey and sake. Hokkaido treats and sake was on offer during our visit.
E. S.
Best ramen I ever tasted. Excellent sashimi. Great atmosphere with very fresh food.
Thank you for the great customer service!

RE REVIEW
6 months later I have done another visit to this place and I have to say what an improvement. The food was excellent this time the service was quicker, however still slightly unfriendly. Be nether the less a lot better. Improve the service and it’ll be a five star.
—————————————————-
First of all I can understand they have just opened but I think the problem is value for money. It is expensive for what you get.
We ordered sashimi (salmon, yellowtail, fatty bluefin tuna) from the counter, donburi salmon. Shoryu kotteri noodles, octopus balls and a fried chicken karaage bun. This place needs drastic improvement and unfortunately over hyped. The place itself is nice but the food is expensive for the portion size and the quality. The sashimi was good so at least the ingredients are fresh. But the cooked was not great apart from the bun which was good but not great. Salmon was dry the white rice was actually awful and dry. Could have cooked the salmon better myself. The noodles was ok soup was ok. The octopus balls was ok.
But worst of all the is the SERVICE!!! The half of the staff are unfriendly badly trained and just rude and unorganised. Half the menu wasn’t available and it’s expensive for bad service and average to bad food.
M. H.
Great variety of different grocery options. The food sold in the store is also really tasty and the not too overpriced either.
P. C.
Delicious beers and curry bread! The place is clean and bright, and the staff are very courteous. The hot food is a bit pricey, but the selection is very good. They even serve ice cream!
S. I.
Visited Ichiba for dinner and it was a very pleasant experience. Although the menu isn't that vast and the self service experience something you don't find a lot in the UK, this was actually a pretty good place for a quick dinner. We tried out some authentic Donburi, Teriyaki and Pork buns which were perfect for our mood at the time. Would recommend for a chilled out meal rather than a proper sitdown meal..
J. W.
Nice interiors but navigating the store took some doing. How about location maps posted at strategic locations? Can't be lugging our groceries then find takoyaki queue and then find a seat, then go to the sushi section, all the while trying to find a member of staff to explain store layout. Prices on the high side - suggest you make the staples cheaper, say sushi, takoyaki, ramen, to generate more footfall and bums on seats.
N. I.
Nice spacious and clean Japanese store with food court. It takes a while to get the food but the quality is high. Groceries are so pricey but sometimes that's what you got to pay to satisfy your cravings, I suppose. They seem to have a large range of sake.
E. O. S.
We love comming here as a family, great food, shopping and always fun with events that are held.
I will warn you that it gets very busy but it's worth the wait.
Does a range of books/food/knifes/grocery shopping. Also to eat in is sushi, ramen, rice dishes (brown and white), snacks, cold dishes and much more!
Also has a kids menu
S. S.
This is a cool place, plenty of Japanese food from ramen to Katsu curries, lots of space to sit and very baby friendly. Quick service . Specially like the Alovera drink and Katsu curry. It also has a part shop which sells good Japanese stuff.
M. L.
Love the food court style eateries offering a huge selection of dishes from okonomiyaki, takoyaki, sushi, ramen, udon, soba, donburi and many more !! Definitely coming back for more !!
K. B.
I adore this place: a true slice of Japanese heaven. Great food, a good book and gift selection, homeware and groceries. Stay and have a wonderful meal and then take some of the Japanese feeling home with you. Particularly fond of the okonomiyaki station- fond memories of trips to Japan brought back. As well as tje japanese pasties. Serve your melonpan split with matcha softserve inside and I'd never leave.......
M.
Lovely sushi! Unfortunately neither the gyoza nor the octopus balls were available the day I went (which was the main reason for me to go) but the sushi made up for it.
P. A.
Huge variety and good quality but prices are a bit high for a mall/food court kind of experience. The supermarket part is definitely worth a visit!
J. L.
Good selections (eat in, takeaway, raw ingredients, dried goods, fish monger butchery and more) in a spacious and tidy environment. Not a shopping mall person myself but it is handy on a rainy day to walk around and stay dry!
M. G.
Great store with almost every ingredient you need to cook Japanese or Korean food style dishes. If the prices were lower I would give it a 5⭐
Y. L.
We had lunch here, the food is average taste but a bit pricy. This supermarket is not as big as it advertised. Found some interesting hello kitty teapots. Only one thing makes me feel like coming again is this matcha latte from the bakery. Very thick taste and fresh.
N. B.
Amazing location to visit! A really good range of popular Japanese foods and ingredients. It's great to be able to pick up products that are typically quite hard to source online otherwise. The hot food counter is also a great spot to grab some lunch, the food is absolutely delicious! And great service from the in store team today who were polite and professional, and all observing COVID restrictions - very reassuring to see!
L. B.
Really varied selection of Japanese foods and gifts. We had lunch inside the shop too. The yaki-tori stick and mix option was great, especially the teriyaki beef skewer. The tempura prawns were freshly cooked and crisp. A great place to have a quick look and enjoy a meal for a reasonable price.
J. T.
This dish tasted okay. I feel like soup could be more traditional taste than this. I also had salmon sashimi but the texture was a little weird weird not fresh.
There are lots of times from Japan and fews from Thailand.
K. E.
Japanese food court at Westfield. It's clean and the dishes we had were nice. However maybe a bit expensive for the quantity. Will go again if we are at shopping mall.
C. P.
Great food. Good stock of everything that reminded me of my Japanese trip. Can't wait to go again.
J. N.
Plenty of Japanese ingredients available you can't find in other london stores. Cooked food and sushi was great.
R.
If your looking for an amazing japanese centric chill area after shopping, this is the place to go. Delicious amazing variety of japanese cuisine (go for the Tonkotsu!!!) with plenty of japanes snacks and items if your up for more shopping :P
O. K.
It’s a very well organised place, they serve delicious and flavoursome Japanese meals. Definitely would recommend to my friends and family. They also do student discounts!
J. R.
A bit pricey but super unique food, looks fresh and delicious!
A. B.
Although the food is great and there is lots on offer, it is rather disorganized for a Japanese centre. The meal was tasty and service was ok, but a too long wait.
M. S.
A Japanese shop that carries a wide range of items, from food (fresh & frozen), to books, to beauty products and homeware. There were a few counters to order hot food from (okonomiyaki, takoyaki, ramen, etc.), as well as a bakery and fridge section for sushi, poke bowls, etc. A cute place worth a visit although it is expensive, like any other Japanese shop. Service was very slow at the okonomiyaki stall. Tip: some of the food is reduced to half price 30 mins before closing.
K. C.
This place is not so easy to find, and Google will try to take you out of Westfield and in the other side. This is part of the newer build, right by John Lewis. Trying to locate this shop within Westfield on the other side was near impossible as the giant map screens in Westfield weren't working properly (more like frozen) and it's not so easy to work out if you're in the right direction.
There's a good selection of groceries, sake sets and tea sets, a section of hello kitty, Japanese calligraphy and toroto items. There's a small range of books, tiny section of manga (like 3 books) and a little section of cook books. Theres a section for sushi if thats your kinda things, pastries and a meat/fish mongers. There's a restaurant bit which I didn't try but some of the food looked and slept delicious. As usual I bought some Japanese sweeties and noodles - and a learn Japanese phrase pad thing. Will definitely come back, it's pretty much similar to Japan centre located just round the corner from China Town in London. This was nice to visit as we had just gone to the Japanese garden party in Hammersmith park
M. L.
Brilliant udon (I am not a big fan but it was absolutely delicious!) and ramen, very tasty octopus balls and rice & beef. Highly recommend this place and would love to come here again to investigate other food they prepare and all kinds of bizarre Japanese products on sale here.
V.
There something for seasoned shoppers of Japanese cuisine and newcomers. Lots of different foods, ingredients and items related to Japan, and a nice cafe area too.
D. M.
Hahaha i only walked past although I did eat in there years ago and it was ok at the time. Hehehe.
S. D.
Delicious food and very filling. Great atmosphere and assortment of japanese food and drink. A real dive into Japanese culture.
E. S.
Interesting shop. Different to what I've experienced before. I enjoyed the food, although I did ask for brown rice twice and got white... and I brought some Japanese sweets.
M. R.
Went there just to try this place!
I order tempura with rice and some vegetable was ok not very delicious!
My boyfriend order cicken teryaki with rice, was good but extremely sweet and very heavy!
Order some gyoza was good!
Bit expensive for what you got!
Not very satisfied!
j. W.
From good to not so good food court area.
When Ichiba just opened, food was pretty good they have a specialist place for tempura just outside by the seating area, now has turn into shoryu ramen.
Within a year plus it is not so good and I wouldn’t come back for food at least.
We ordered chicken teriyaki, and sukiyaki donburi.
Chicken teriyaki wasn’t grill simply like stir fried with plenty of sauce and the beef is very dry!
Should just stick with groceries!
A.
Let's be brutal about this place. Yes the theme is Japanese but not a japanese chef or staff in sight. The experience is slightly different if you went to a place with Japanese staff. I really cannot put my finger on it but the authenticity isn't there. Food was very mediocre and quite pricey. The supermarket although a wide choice it was very expensive. I ordered Takoyaki balls and had many around the world. Sorry to say this was the most disappointing. It was runny! Didn't have much texture to it. The sushi boxes are pret a Manger grade.. Again not great. However it's confusing as you can buy in 1 section which is better but by the food counters are other poor quality versions. I'd rather goto Wasabi if I were desperate for a sushi fix. Premises very new but advice to management. Bring down the prices and add some authenticity and maybe your footfall will increase. I honestly do not see this place lasting as its a Friday evening, the food court in the main building is exploding with customers but here.. Well pictures will say it all. Shame really.. Love the concept but poor execution.
M. A.
I liked this place, you can feel the spirit of Japan. Restaurants inside and supermarket. Many goods to take back home 👌🏼😍.
E. A.
Out of the way store at the northern end of the mall offering east Asian freshly made food and drink as well as ingredients and chilled & frozen items to cook and/or consume at home.
C. M.
Visit Japan no travel restrictions all sushi fans welcome sitting area to eat in available
N. Y.
Best Mochis and sushi in town, hot food itself is not a winner. General shopping is fun, plenty of new things to try
Y. W.
Good selection of Japanese groceries and specialty ingredients. Large selection of rice. Slightly on the pricey side though.
E. M.
Chicken Yakisoba was seasoned with too much sauce and the cake was far sweeter than what I expect in Japan. A bit disappointed but I will try some other things and see if I can find something more Japanesey.
K. M.
Great food to eat in or out hot and cold a secret find. Great selection. Japanese candy and kitkats.
L. S.
The largest selection of Japanese food I have seen in London. Also a good selection of books, stationery, cooking utensils and gifts. Very well laid out.
R. R.
Great selection of everyday items (ramen, Japanese snacks and sweets...) at great prices.
N. “. A.
Wide verity of products from Japan, and a restaurant with prices nice and cheap in comparison to the food court.
Great place, will Always visit when heading to Westfield.
p. m.
Great food freshly prepared. My daughter loves Japanese food and culture. This was the perfect stop. Will definitely return
S. L.
Ichiba is incredible!
I went to Westfield London today and for lunch we went here. Immediately when I got here, it looked very authentic and there were a variety of Japanese foods in the grocery aisle.
I had pork gyoza and brown rice and it tasted amazing, like it was actually from Japan!
If you travel to Westfield, I hope you are able to come here and experience a one of a kind experience!
C.
Okay. Nice front desk staff and cleaned tables efficiently. However could not get a hot drink. Its winter get organised.
D.
Omg a motchi fridge... Amazing Japanese outlet
F. A.
A really cosy place to eat and shop. There’s a wide variety of food to choose from when eating in and everything is made fresh. However, the prices are a bit high. The same goes for shopping in here. There’s a lot to look at and buy but the prices are just too high.. like £5 for one packet of ramen... really?
P. T.
Very nice place they have super market there selling everything from Japan mostly food bought couple of things it was very busy place people coming and going loved it
J. F.
Great place to get all your Asian shopping done from. The sushi is very nice too.
T. N. K. K.
Love the selection of Japanese groceries and the Kimonos, not forgetting the cute cafe inside.
L. B. (.
Beautiful Japanese supermarket, bit pricey, but I'm guessing the business rates are a killer in this location. Great for treats though!
X. W.
A beautiful little slice of Japan hidden at the bottom of Westfield London. Lots of great authentic Japanese food and a few culinary accessories. There are a few other gifts and things but the shop would be way more popular if it stocked a wider range of Japanese imported goods like kawaii toys, stationary, clothing, maybe some authentic posters and collectibles etc. Some exclusive limited edition imports would make this place an essential regular visit for so many people like me who love Japanese culture and innovation!
M. M.
Huge variety of goods, some prices are a bit high but you can grab some decent bargains when they have a sale. They have a variety of hot and cold food such as ramen, grilled meats, sushi and desserts. Their mochi station is amazing!
L.
Might be the same size as Japan Centre in Leicester Square but seems to have a smaller selection of items. The restaurant part is really good and has a lot of options. There's also a whole fridge of sake as well (if that's your thing) and the section of makeup, books, and merch is quite cute. Overall, a pretty nice experience :)
K. N.
Awesome shop, almost everything you could want and need. Not only do they do groceries but they do freshly cooked food and you can eat in.
C. J.
Nice for ingredients but the food was nothing special
W. B.
Fantastic chicken katsu meal here today. Perfect place to eat informally.
J. P.
A nice little slice of Japan in West London. The ramen and gyoza in the Shoryu concession isn’t bad at all.
L. W. F.
Nice selection of Japanese and korean food. The shoryu ramen they have there is amazing. Would recommend it to family and also for a date 🤣
S. A.
Amazing shop, amazing restaurant and food when you step into the shop you feel like your in Japan all the products looked amazing me and my daughter were watching the fishmonger cutting fresh sashimi for the customers. We had lunch in here from sushi to ramen to desserts all delicious and everything fresh.
L.
Very nice place to buy some Japanese food. Does have a small restaurant inside too.
C. M.
First lunch since we moved to London and a great way to start our culinary tour. We had a katsu and Ramen meal deal, which was great value. Really good curry and the ramen was brilliant. Definitely going to be a lunch time favourite
S. M.
Good choice of food although prawns are often put of stock. Decent seating as well.
M. m.
Good food court, nice items

Shoryu Ramen and the other restaurants inside the food hall deserve 5 stars out of 5.
Shoryu - I've been there a couple of times and I tried different types of their Tonkotsu ramen always leaving the food hall very pleased with the meals I had.
I also had the Octopus balls as a starter twice and I think it's one of the best Japanese meals I have ever had.
W. L.
Lovely little place, consistent quality, hygienic and well kept space, self service restaurant, like the others in Westfield Food Court. No bells and whistles, but great if you like Japanese food.
G. J.
Very good store. You are almost guaranteed to get anything you require if you are doing some Japanese cooking. A nice range of products and brands
J. D.
Loved the range of food and items they had. Well worth a visit for lunch when at Westfield.
J. S.
Very much like Japan Centre in central London, it is half supermarket, half food court. The food on offer is quite impressive in its range with sushi boxes, ramen, yakitori, okonomiyaki, takoyaki, desserts and a bakery on offer. It is not a restaurant and is more akin to North American style mall food court.
As with all import goods, there is a slight premium on ingredients but no more than you would find anywhere else in London.
Fairly spacious surroundings and lovely decor. A great addition to Westfield's.
S. H.
Loved the different sections - lots of variety in hot food, sushi, bakery foods, raw fish, supermarket.

Quality: 7/10
Service: 7/10
Hygeine: 9/10
Price: 6/10

Image is of the White Natural Ramen. I wouldn't really recommend it - it really is super bland. The only source of flavour is the seaweed. The bamboo has no taste and neither does the tofu. There are honestly no spices in this!
My friend got the meat skewers and apparently that was amazing!
V. F.
Bright and neat store. This teriyaki chicken is a little bit stringy. (Do Japanese people use chicken breast to make this dish? Thigh meat might be better.
s. s.
Nice place! You can find all Japanese food!
H. B.
We had to wait long time to collect the food and food was not all ready so we have to keep going back twice to collect the food .
Food is average .
J. S.
Nice store but the ramen noodles were extremely over cooked and mushy
s. c.
Good place for ramen, melon bread and grocery shopping, didn't like the chicken and pork katsu, the panko coating was Burnt and ruined the dish.
T. l. s.
It's a great place for having sweet, sour and savoury food with your friends but what is even more amazing is that if you like anime there is some anime toys and books I highly recommend this for people who like anime and like eating differnt types of food.😁
G. L.
Brilliant place, tons of Japanese foods and items you can't get anywhere else. The hand made foods are super great aswell. Would 100% reccomend
A. D.
Good selection of food
Nice cafe
s. M. l. r.
Not enough staff, no one to explain what dishes were lots off item of the lunch menu
Not up to usual standard
K. B.
Many snacks and ready made food and drinks.
Lots of fresh sushi/sashimi and meat products.
Clean, tidy and spacious.
Great place to find Japanese food, drinks, small items and a huge selection of sake!
F. I.
The best asian food i ever had, i ll be back 100%
M.
Lovely clean store with lots to offer in terms of delicious hot food and unique packaged food plus fresh produce including meat, flour and eggs
M. O.
Really convenient place to buy Japanese food but very (and I mean very) expensive. E.g. pack of five instant noodles for £15.29!
It's great when I'm in Westfield and need to pick up a few things, but for a regular shop, Korea Foods/HMart (they have Japanese food too) are better (more affordable) options.
A. V.
Great range of produce. Had food here this time. Very enjoyable.
E. R. M.
Seems like some sections are not fully open so can't properly review. It's a restraunt and grocery store. Some of the Japanese imported products are quite expensive.
When it's fully open, will probably be really good for eating in.
B. V. S.
This place offers dine-in service as well. Not only this shop sells dry, fresh and frozen products. They have non food items that are very useful and one of its kind.
M. J.
Great place to get sushi, sake and other Japanese food and drink items. Friendly customer service.
J.
It's a great supermarket, and the restaurant they have is excellent, but I went for grocery shopping and just didn't really find everything I wanted, plus everything appeared to be priced at a premium. Definitely a great store, but just not entirely convinced that it's the best place to shop for Asian groceries.
P. M.
Japan Centre store stocking all things Japanese. From sushi, to doriyaki to noodles and cakes.
D. F.
Visited here to get a bottle of water. However, it has a pretty wide range of Japanese goods. I recommend visiting.
M. F.
First time visiting this store and it had a great range of Japanese food products. Normally I order from another vendor but will definitely visit Ichiba again.
H.
ichiba is amazing, the chicken katsu curry was the best i've ever had!
D. H.
Well stocked supermarket full of Japanese/Korean products. Definitely will return 😁
S. K. A.
Great place to get Japanese grocery and food items. Can be pricey depending on what you choose, definitely great quality!!!
R. R.
Great place to satisfy all your Japanese food needs and cravings, you can get both freshly cooked foods like gyoza, as well as do your Japanese grocery shopping.
Store is spacious and staff was very welcoming polite, prices are reasonable.
A. B.
Amazing place filled with a vast culture of japanese food and items I love it. Brilliant place for weeks.
L. G.
Absolutely great. Tasty food, very fresh. Excellent selection of interesting merchandise.
V.
Very nice shop, great variety of products, reasonable prices.
I.
Good restaurant/shop, autentic Japan cuisine.
O. B.
AMAZING! For people who understand and cherish REAL Japanese food, it's the place to go! Super fresh seafood at the fishmonger, same for the sushi. Haven't tasted that good sushi in a while, and, actually, just took a cab to Westfield the other day to get the sushi ) We also had the ramen, and its thick, full of flavour and delicious, even my 2 year old could not get enough. The store has a lot of produce, from vegetables, down to mangas! Definitely worth a visit, can only recommend!
V. K.
Atmosphere lacking place with amazing food and Japanese produce in the supermarket corner. Sushi boxes of many variations, hot food served on a collection counter. Frosty beer.
Y. Z.
A spacious shop with lots of Japanese as well as Asian food, snacks, and drinks. Well decorated. Always enjoy stopping by when at Westfield.
B. F.
I love Japanese food and this place is heaven! Their hirata buns and takoyaki are phenomenal! Great value and excellent variety of food for both the restaurant and the supermarket sections. Highly recommended!
A. L.
This Japan Centre has everything. Delicious hot food to take away still available during lockdown, just order at the till and they prepare it. Big selection of Little Moon mochi ice cream to take away. Gorgeous selection of crockery and other kitchen items for good prices.
J. K.
Love this place, great food stock of Korean and Japanese food and sweeties!
K. A.
This shop is well organized and you can find some food gems as well.
J. F.
Really authentic and all the food is Japanese from Japan so its the real deal. There is also the restaurant which I haven't tried out yet but seems really good.
D. A.
Too crowded at the weekends. But clean place.
Many different goods around the world specially from Japan.
A. L.
Staff is super nice and knowledgeable, incredible selection of Japanese items and food.
Fresh meat and food available.
Good selection of Japanese knives and alcohol.
R. A.
Very nice to sit and get eat away from the hustle of westfield and also pick up a few groceries.
C. R.
Amazing place to buy all of your Japanese food. Also has a eat in / takeaway food counter with hot food such as ramen and noodles which are very tasty.
L. J.
Really like this place and has a variety of stuff to buy and try. Their food is amazing but their prices are a little high 😬 all in all you can find some gems and still enough a great bite 👍
K.
Good range of products but very pricy with products that you can find elsewhere at half the price. the little moons section is well stocked now and that's a plus.
J. S.
Chicken Katsu Curry was so great! It was tasty almost similar to real Asian one.
R. D.
Lots of stuff going on, nice chill vibe shop and some nice mystery treats.
K. T.
Fantastic new venture in Westfield! Great supermarket and food choices.
H. L.
I love Ichiba! The staff are so nice and helpful! Sushi and sashimi are fresh and selection is great!
They have an incredible selection of Sake! Lots of other Japanese liquor such as plum wine, gin, vodka, and Japanese whisky.
Snacks (both savory and sweet) from Japan are all over.
This place is amazing!!
A. C.
Always a pleasure to visit this store and to get something to eat. Plenty of choices for all budgets and every taste. Definitely recommend
E. A.
Chicken katsu sandwich - delicious. Was a great lunch break from shopping
S. S.
Walked past here many times but had never gone in. No will never walk past and will always go in. You will leave with a bag of random items you never knew existed.
K. B.
Many snacks and ready made food and drinks.
Lots of fresh sushi/sashimi and meat products.
Clean, tidy and spacious. …
F. A.
A really cosy place to eat and shop. There’s a wide variety of food to choose from when eating in and everything is made fresh. However, the prices are a bit high. The same goes for shopping in here. There’s a lot to look at and buy but the prices are just too high.. like £5 for one packet of ramen... really?
J.
It's a great supermarket, and the restaurant they have is excellent, but I went for grocery shopping and just didn't really find everything I wanted, plus everything appeared to be priced at a premium. Definitely a great store, but just not entirely convinced that it's the best place to shop for Asian groceries.

Very nice👍
S. K. A.
Great place to get Japanese grocery and food items. Can be pricey depending on what you choose, definitely great quality!!!
B. F.
I love Japanese food and this place is heaven! Their hirata buns and takoyaki are phenomenal! Great value and excellent variety of food for both the restaurant and the supermarket sections. Highly recommended!
S. M.
Great Japanese experience
T. S.
A fantastic shop with everything! Amazing customer service too!
L. C.
The sushi is lovely, my god, feels like I am back in Asia
they got wagyu beef btw
L. J.
Really like this place and has a variety of stuff to buy and try. Their food is amazing but their prices are a little high 😬 all in all you can find some gems and still enough a great bite 👍
C. G.
Huge Japanese supermarket with fresh counters, there are a variety of different takeaway/hot food counters to choose from but due to covid they are closed but should open soon.
J. W.
It's a great experience from the moment you get greeted by the staff here (Irasshaimase!).
Great spot to grab a Japanese lunch or do some shopping. The sushi deal (£5, £7 or £10) is great value for money, as it's probably the best store-bought sushi I've had. The products are fairly expensive due to import duties, but worth their price if you want authenticity.
T. “. V.
Great selection of Japanese food and sweets. I really enjoyed their tea cookies (especially the Earl Grey).
s. k.
Great place! Alifa was very patient and helped us out a lot when ordering the food.
J. Y.
Ichiba online marketplace
Just placed an order, very happy with the large variety of products on offer especially the frozen products. Another plus is each item has a description which is handy as I’ve found other online Japanese retailers lack this. Will be using this again
L. t.
Great store with a very large selection of japanese staples should you want to cook at home. There is also a decent selection of takeaway items such as sushi. Staff very friendly and have a good understanding of japanese cusine
H. M.
Nice place to chill is normally pretty quiet. But can be pricey
K. B.
Very friendly and good selection of Japanese foods. Not cheap but wasn't really expecting it to be.
J. T.
Good place for tasting Japanese food and beverage. Ramen is good also and with 70% of real Japanese taste
V. Y.
This is store/mini supermarket/fast food court within Westfield shopping center. It has variety of Japanese goods. The fast food sector services food tasted good. The place is clean. The price is above average. You can eat within the store. Most of staff are Japanese who speak some level of English, but few with very poor English. I had difficulty to communicate with two staff in English. They had to call someone else and I had to wait.
M. L.
Pretty big Japanese collection, shoryu ramen to eat. Opens late
B. 1.
Since this place has reopened has lost quite a bit in charm and caracter, still expensive though.
S. M.
My first early evening after work visit was terrific. Superb Japanese food items to buy, and a great menu choice if you wanted to eat in. My return visit was a disappointment. Arrived around the same time (7.30-8.00pm) and half the food counters had closed.
A. J. M.
Wonderful place to spend some time and eat delicious food. However I had 3 octopus balls and while 1 was fresh the other 2 were not. I checked and saw a whole lot of balls all lined up waiting to be eaten. So make sure when ordering your balls to tell the cashier you want fresh balls.
G. S.
Fantastic supermarket for Japanese products, great new addition to the new part of Westfield. Good for grabbing a quick bite to eat as a snack, also good for finding ingredients to making your own Japanese/Eastern Asian food. Clean, tidy and well staffed.
B. F.
The shop has some good stuff, worth a visit, but the food court is not great. A good selection of Japanese food, but ours came out cold and wasn't very good. Tea not in a real cup either. For the price you're better off going to a real restaurant, this is just at shopping mall standard.
R. N.
Decent Japanese food, and good selection, although a tad pricey. We came for an early lunch and had virtually no wait, which was good. A big annoyance though was cold air blasting into the restaurant area, due to people leaving the outside door latched open as they came in. Staff seemed oblivious and unwilling to do anything about it. It was the same when we visited a couple of months back. Please fix - this is a silly thing to have to complain about.
T. W.
It’s a nice place, but food is not really authentic and overpriced. Overall is nice visually and it have a loads of Japanese stuff. Unfortunately I’m disappointed because most of the stock is food related. It will be nice if they have more Japanese not food related products. If they’ll do a small display with the bonsai trees, kimonos, katana or ikebana o it will be great as well.
G. P.
Very good food at a cheap price
M. L.
I enjoyed my visit here so much. Lots of rushing and people, the atmosphere was wonderful. Food options are impressive, and what I had was amazing. A selection of skewers on the charcoal grill in the store. Lots of options, including takoyaki ! Then, as if that wasn't enough, there's a wonderful set of groceries and housewares available too. I will be returning !
S. M.
Perfect food and shop with good prices
N. K.
This is a really great concept. It's effectively a Japanese food market with several hot food stalls within it. Really great place to find obscure products that you wouldn't see in your run of the mill supermarket. I was peckish so came in to but some sushi from the fridge section. It was actually very very good and much better than the stuff you might find in a supermarket. It seems as though it had been prepared on the day. If I worked closer to the stress I could see myself coming here for lunch regularly. Will come back to try the hot food
D. J.
Not only does this place sell Asian food but also has a built-in cafe, and south East Asian books and DVDs
K. B.
I had the kettori tonkotsu ramen (decent portion of ramen and vegetables but the broth was tepid and lacking in meat)and my partner had the beef sukiyaki donburi(quite flavoursome and very generous portion). Chicken gyoza was nice- shame the pork option was unavailable. Store nice layout, look forward to trying more from the menu.
H. K.
Whilst the queue was exceptionally long for food, limited space for seating, and a lot of the menu had sold out by the time we got near the front (thus opted to leave) - what can’t be denied is the huge success this place has already garnered.
Once the aforementioned teething issues have been ironed out over the coming weeks (days I hope), I will definitely be coming back to ichiba more often, and hopefully have the pleasure to actually taste the menu next time...see you again shortly
C. A.
New place at Westfield London not to be missed. Authentic Japanese food to eat in or take away. Family friendly. Little supermarket with essential imported products from Japan that you might need if you like cooking at home. Good service, but chaotic at times
C. G.
The foods quality is amazing and the staff is very friendly and very respectful of the customers. The eat-in area is Japanese based and comfortable, the eat-in and take away food are reasonable price wise. Only minus for me, the price of the items sold is quite expensive.
H. S.
been few times on the restaurant with my sister and friends. really nice food and lots variety. A little bit pricey, but i guess is location.
Highly recommended if you are around
C. C.
I love this place, yes it's expensive, but the food, presentation, taste & atmosphere, it's worth it for me.
A. A. B. W.
Interesting store. Everything you need for Japanese cookery at home. Good product range, especially frozen goods
A. L.
Love it here! Visited again today, lovely. Clean, ambient environment, great shop with a lovely variety of Japanese food, supermarket, fishmonger, deli, hot food bar and cafe. Love the matcha green tea and matcha green tea muffins, delicious. The teriyaki crisps are delish too. Haven't tried the hot food bar yet but look forward to it. It looked great with descriptive text detailing what's on offer for us non Japanese speaking customers! Staff are friendly here too.
Z. Q.
One of the must go places for me at Westfield with variety of Japanese goods and food. Have not been able to visit since the beginning of pandemic but so happy to see it is delivering! Just made the first order and cannot wait to get it!
L.
Really love this place, so glad its opened in Westfield as it's always hard to source genuine Japanese products and food. Love the atmosphere. It's very cute. Nice vibe. Sushi great, well priced and I always buy my favourite products from here....ps...service is great too, staff very helpful. Well done.
J. M.
Great selection of food and drink.
M. E.
Interesting Asian Market store with a strong emphasis on Japan, with a few restaurants and eating areas inside. This is a sister site to the Japan centre, it's larger, I'm not sure if they stock a greater variety of goods or not but certainly there is more space. The ramen and tempura restaurants offer quick service, if you've never eaten in Japan then you'll probably think the quality is good, if you have eaten in Japan then you'll find it sub-standard and expensive. Everything in this store is expensive even when it's discounted but the you don't have much choice really if you want to buy this stuff. T k trading is cheaper, as are the Korean marts in New Malden but then you need a car.
L. H.
I love this place. Great variety. Not too over priced.
F.
Lovely range of Japanese products, a fun bakery in the corner filled with authentic Japanese treats (such as mochi, matcha ice cream and matcha cakes).
The food is pretty average for Japanese food in London, definetely not the best but it’s not at all bad.
S. M.
Regular eating place here in Westfield since it opened last year because we like it. Not so cheap but food has been consistent. Try to avoid busy times. Several food counters available, also Japanese provisions, butcher and fresh sushi section. Definitely in the ££ category.
A. W.
Great store prices are quite up there, but most are on imports that I haven't seen anywhere else except for when I was in Tokyo. In addition to its good hall to buy for your own recipe why not enjoy lunch or dinner with them in their vast selection across different counters
C. W.
Nice cocktails! Lychee martini highly recommended during happy hour! Alsot the grill stuff is really nice. Beef yakitori is yummy too. Will be trying a ramen soon. After visiting japan and loving it, I have some high expectations
L. O.
Many choice to choose from, only that it's quite pricey. Then again, this is Westfield, London, expected.
Q.
A huge store with lots of Japanese food! It is amazing that this one is in the shopping centre unlike their covent garden branch. Always great to grab a quick bento or maybe even more filling options such as Chicken Katsu or Beef Sukiyaki which is my favourite. It is a little bit more expensive than the westend branch. Toilets are clean and seating spaces are GREAT!
O.
Great store, lots on offer but pricey. If you come near the end of the day the pastries are reduced. We came here for an event to make Japanese sweets (wagashi) and it was so much fun. Would come back here again.
I.
Great place for Japanese food. If you are shopping at Westfield, you can come here for a treat. Slightly on the pricey side but worth the quality.
L. J.
I love the ambience and general atmosphere here, I haven't had the pleasure of trying the food yet but the items sold are extremely varied and authentic.
S. M.
Really good normal Japanese food. Good selection of noodle dishes and donburi. Maybe a little on the expensive side but it's London.
M. T.
Excellent selection of authentic Japanese goods. Includes counters for fresh food including sashimi, meat, and hot food. Friendly staff!
R. “. S.
Go here most times after work for their fresh sushi and vegan croissants. They are adding to their extensive menu all the time with their sushi counter and hot food. Would so recommend, you feel as if you've stepped foot into Japan with their authentic products and atmosphere. Visit if you're around Westfield since it is on the newer development you do have to venture away from the populated shopping area, but if you love asain cuisine you won't be disappointed.
T. T.
The centre is large and located inside Westfield London shopping mall. The centre has a large food hall with a self service dining space serving freshly cooked Japanese food and sushi from a variety of stalls. Packaged snacks and bottled drinks are also sold in the store from the food aisle sections. Some common basic household and kitchenware items are also sold in the centre.
s. c.
Had no clue what much of the items were but did buy a few bits
G. S.
I really like the food and products, but there were two issues: the prices shown on the board were lower than the actual amount we had to pay; reason given: those are takeaway prices, but the eat-in prices weren't shown anywhere. I am pretty sure it must be shown (even if there is a small note somewhere).
The other issue is the price itself; obviously some products are hard to get, but it seems excessive on quite a few.
T. K.
It ok, got a fairly good range of Japanese products, but very pricey, and is a pain to find anything cz everything is in Japanese, and not many floor staff to help you find what you want.
But they do a good evening discount everyday on fresh food.
N. L.
Great Japanese supermarket and restaurant, my new favourite place to eat at Westfield (White City). Food is great and the staff are helpful and friendly. Plus they also have an excellent bakery and little cafe to grab a snack on the go.
D. P.
We went here once and had okonomiyaki and takoyaki. Having recently been in Japan, I can say the quality of food prepared at Ichiba was good, although I didn't try anything else in the menu. There are several places to eat and there is a large range of Japanese food in the market. It's advertised as the biggest Japanese hall in Europe - that might be true, but the place was not actually that big overall, comparable to Japan Centre in Piccadilly Circus.
M. P.
Excellent food court with a wide variety of authentic Japanese food. Good but expensive shop area, although I imagine it's not cheap to rent a unit in Westfield! I recommend having a browse and a meal here, I'll definitely be returning regularly for some Yakiniku and Yakitori :)
B.
Charming little spot for weaboos. Love the Ebi Soba at the hot counter. Great and varied selection of everything a normal supermarket would have to offer but with the fascinating touch of cuteness sprawled in every aisle! Staff are friendly, and I like that it's hidden on the far-side of Westfield so it feels almost like finding treasure. It is super expensive so that loses a star from me. You feel broke just walking through it. Worth a visit, though. Try the Matcha latte and the Cheesecake for supercharged weaboo affect.
A. B.
A lot of great products and kind staff.
m.
If you are in need of a taste of Japan this is the place good selection of food products. Wide choice of Sake plus they hold regular events. The selection of freshly cooked food includes sushi Bento boxes ramen and much more.
S. I.
Ok let's get it straight while l have a Japanese surname, I'm not Japanese but having been married to a japanese master chef l know my way round the food stuffs this vast store, owned by the Japan centre, has to offer. Expect to find noodles, rice, rice toppings, miso, tofu, seaweeds, stock cubes including the famous Golden curry variety ( sadly containing msg ... Please Asian food producers drop this dreadful additive from your ingredients as many European food producers have done) spices, pastes, ( umi paste in rice balls very yummy ) pickles and sauces galore. In fact my nickname for Ichiba is SAUCE CITY 😉. If in doubt marinate your main protein whether it be meat, fish or beans then steam, bake or stir fry , serve with your carbs and even the worst cook can produce a culinary delight. I dare you !
In addition you can find the usual array of fresh vegetables for Asian dishes, daikon radish, shitake mushroom, taro potato, choice, and even a very helpful stew pack to make sukiyaki at the table if you have a portable burner, which is also on sale. In the freezers you'll find varieties of fish and special cuts of meat to help with your attempts at japanese cuisine. There's a very generous scattering of staff across the store to hrlp you navigate the various sections. If you're a complete beginner, l suggest visiting the book section first, selecting a simple one then grab a basket to assemble a basic set of ingredients with which to make your first authentic Japanese meal. You will find Japanese food accommodates all dietary persuasions, vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, gluten free, and omnivore. It follows the five types of taste ; sweet, sour, bitter, spicy and salty. How can bitter be good for you, you cry. Without realising it you've probably experienced these five food tastes many times in your life but not focused on the art of combining or contrasting them with each other. Japanese cuisine excels at this.
Even in the drink types you will find many bewildering varieties of sakes drunk hot, cold or even iced. Try the sake bar before buying to take home. My favourite drink is yuzu or plum wine served with umbeoshi plum over ice. Much nicer than a cocktail. However all this aside the best value in store nearest to the indoor entry is the meal area where you can select a main box, side snack and a drink for £5-7.
I see many people have tried the menu items first and awarded only two stars. The store is quite new and l expected varying teething problems. I'm reserving judgement until l too have sat down to eat, hence the four stars. My daughter and l only grocery shopped carefully avoiding the hello kitty shelves and fairly expensive crockery. My son and friend sampled Bento boxes which they pronounced quite tasty. They're both Katsu fans. Can't say l liked the look of the uncovered donut batter pot ( hygiene? )
Be warned the pastries may look like Old and Steen type buns but they're not as sweet and with matcha or beans in some of them you may get more than you bargained for. My advice share one first. I adored my matcha brownie but l'm accustomed to the different textures and tastes. On the whole a very relaxing experience at the beginning of the week. Maybe it's frantically busy at weekends. I'll attempt at some point to shoot a You tube walkabout then launch the link on here if Google allows it.
Since l posted this review lchiba has completely revamped the eating area into a multiple choice fast food service experience. I ordered a vegetable tempura which came on a bed of brown or white rice with edamame beans. It was quite tasty except for the sweet potato and aubergine being too thickly cut and having to prompt the server for dipping sauce that unfortunately came in a plastic tub that was too narrow to dunk properly ! Hence no fifth star.
If you subscribe to their newsletter you will receive regular offers and discounts and always be one step ahead for special food or sake tastings.

Some people just don't know how to write a proper review. People rate on what the employees know. They should rate the store and it's selection. By the way I never find that here in the UK shop employees know so much anyway. That's more of an American thing! I will add though, that the employees were all very nice and tried to be as helpful as possible. I will agree it's expensive. But I will add that I have found all Japanese markets in this country are equally expensive. I think if you're looking for a 'YoSushi' experience, then stay away from this place. This place is of high quality Japanese imports. I used to live in Japan. I have never found such items as fresh Yamaimo (山芋) and Gobou (Japanese Burdock root) anywhere else in London. Btw, the Gobou at Japan centre is always rotten. Not here - it was gorgeous! I was actually able to buy fresh yamaimo - an essential ingredient for making Okonomiyaki - and gobou. I was sooo excited... I came home and made Kinpira Gobou and okonommiyaki. Haven't been able to do that in ages! They also have an incredible selection of Japanese Whiskies, Sake and shochu as well as some plum wines. If you're not a connoisseur of hard to find, fresh and otherwise Japanese products then this place might not be for you. But if you love cooking and like an outstanding selection of ingredients then please come here, it's a fun place. But, yes it won't be cheap - so what! I'll pay anything to be able to get fresh yamiamo and Japanese gobou when I want it! Note: Chinese burdock is available in China Town but it is not at all the same! They are very different. I will be shopping here a lot!
P. W.
Delicious and authentic Japanese cooking - everything made fresh to order. Lex at the Okonomiyaki station is great! And so good to be able to buy ingredients that you can’t find anywhere else. Our new favourite.
p. m.
Amazing ramen, and lots of great Japanese food items, you can't easily find somewhere else. I honestly didn't expect much from all Japanese food, but this place was definitely a pleasant surprise. I'll probably go back again soon.
L. H.
Absolutely must go if you’re around Westfield. I got obsessed with their chicken katsu curry and i still think about it regularly now that i have moved away from london. Authentic taste and wide reasonably priced selection. Bathrooms are also very clean. Authentic supermarket items you would only be able to buy there. Always nice service and nice looking place. Nothing bad to say.
M. Z.
Loved It! Very authentic dining and shopping experience. If you are a beer lover the frozen beer slush is a must! Plan on many return visits. Great food!
J. N.
For a fast food place this was amazing Japanese food. We had chicken teriyaki and Ramen soup which was exceptional.
There is also a large Japanese grocery store attached to restaurant. I wish there was one year where we live and go there all the time.
L. E.
I didn't eat here, we just went in to have a good look around. Wow, expensive! It is fun to look at the goods on offer, but the prices are eye watering for certain items. I understand they are imported, but we don't live on the moon. A lot of the items I have seen elsewhere for a lot less money. I wouldn't necessarily go running back.
L. F.
Great place to find Japanese food and other essentials

As a huge Japanese fan, I can confirm that this place is as authentic as it gets in Japan.
So many product choices, delicious Japanese food & desserts, sake tasting and much more all wrapped in great deals.

Read some of the reviews on here so was worried about my first visit being a shocker.
But I was pleasantly surprised, yes it was busy (I’d be worried for them if it wasn’t) and yes I was waiting 15 minutes for my food but the girl on the cashier told me the yakitori would take that long as it’s fresh.
Found it a bit odd I got my ramen in crockery but the rest in plastic and cardboard, I asked a manager why and he said they had a supply issue from Japan so most of the crockery was still missing. Fair enough, hopefully that’s true.
My wife had some sushi, spicy crackers and a coke for a fiver!
Got some sweets after, queue went quick and we actually got served in the bakery as a girl called us over as was free
Can see a few issues but hey it’s new and I’ll be back for sure.

Good Japanese market in London Westfield. Melon buns available!
T. A. M.
I had the Shoyu ramen and it was beyond excellent. Why anybody would go eat at the food court and not make the slightly longer walk here instead I have no idea. If you like Japanese food you should eat here. End of story.

Delicious ramen and soft buns. One of the best places for ramen.
L. L.
This place is great! The food hall has a good selection of Japanese food to choose from. Ramen, rice bowls, yakitori and small plates with different fillings. But be aware they stop selling food about 2 hours before closing the main shop, or at least have less selection of food. The bakery has fresh goods and sells individual frozen mochi. Supermarket items are a bit expensive, you can probably find some items in your local oriental shop for cheaper. There are some pretty patterns of plates and bowls to get as presents. I found cook books to make bentos and a book with just cat paws!!!
B. K.
Really cool japanese place with lots of food options in a good quality/price ratio. Gyozas and ramen were really good washed down with a dry cold Asahi beer. You can also get a variety of japanese products from fresh noodles to sweets!

When first arriving here I thought the place was great and I was overwhelmed by everything they had to offer! After taking a walk around the food court we decided to firstly try the Okonomiyaki which was excellent! We then went to try something from the main food court however this is where a lot of confusion happened as they had ran out of a lot of items and the waiter seemed to have no idea of this and he also didnt even know what my item was that I tried to order evnthough it was clearly on the menu. We then went to order other things however he kept saying we had to go elsewhere to get this and talk to his colleagues meaning we would of then had to go to the very back of the queue and start again? When the food eventually came it was unfortunately put in a cardboard box which was the take out option eventhough we stated to eat in the restaraunt. Also why are using single use plastics, as a newly opened business and with whats going on at the moment in the world I would think a big business like this would have opted for an alternative! I understand its a new place therefore I will deffinately return I just hope firstly, the staff are all fully trained or being mentored if they are new staff (as the waiter today stated he had only done one shift before yet there was noone there offering him any help). Secondly I hope stock of items improves massively! Thirdly are we going to have a section in there where we see fresh sushi been made and available to eat??? The only reason I say this is due to the sushi that was available was average and one piece of sushi was missing a slice of salmon.
To summarise great food and has potential to be a great business. Thanks again Ichiba as the Okonomiyaki was incredible along with the tofu dish that I had.

Lots of choices and good seating area. Prices reasonable for London. Narumi was very patient and explained the different food available. Food came very quick too which was a bonus.
J. D. C.
Great place for an authentic japanese meal with plenty of snacks and extras on for everyones taste.

Fantastic place.
Truly enjoyable place to shop. You can buy the supplies and equipment and groceries you want AND stop for something to eat. A true asset to Westfield that makes a trip there worthwhile. Finally, something different from there big standard offerings.
L. C.
The sushi is lovely, my god, feels like I am back in Asia
they got wagyu beef btw
A. S.
If you like Japanese culture a place to visit. Lots of brand brought in from Japan for you to try. There is also a huge food court and Bakery, which I am going to have to go back and try, along with a fresh fish and meat counter.
K. H.
Fabulous to get ones fix of all things from land of the rising sun esp if you are unable to get to the central London store. Negative is that stuff here is atrociously overly expensive, not sure this business model is sustainable in the current climate as I was frugal before C19 and can't envisage myself or others to change their outlook

I was very excited at the idea of going to Ichiba but at the end the experience was nothing amazing. The food was bland although the mochi ice cream was good. We had to go through a long queue in order to order and were advised the food would take up to 45 mins to be delivered. It actually was ready after 10 mins but it was clearly reheated and the teriyaki chicken was tasting funny. They managed somehow to charge me for something I didn't order but I was at the end refunded the money. These are their early days and I am sure they will improve in the next few days
H. C.
A huge selection of japanese restaurant and supermaket food.
I accidentally ordered a dish with broth in it (it was titled udon but in small print underneath it said they came with broth) that I really didn't want at all, I went to bring it back to them and say that I was going to order something else because I had read the menu incorrectly, and they said they would get something else made for me free of charge!
They made me a salmon teriyaki donburi and it was delicious! I also had a halloumi bun which was also lovely.
Big thanks to the staff behind the collection counter on 06/04/19 for doing this for me - it made my experience A*!
C. L.
Good selection of Japanese products, but a little over-priced. They stock Strong Zero (chūhai) which is amazing - nostalgic (or nauseating?) for anyone missing those drunken arcade nights in Japan.
A. L.
A little corner of Japan culture in the centre of London. If you're Japanese and missing your magazines, drinks or small decor items this is the place. But also if you just want to try some authentic food whether is a ready meal, noodles or ingredients to cook Japanese recipes at home.
A. A.
Great selection of products & menu is delicious.
H. W.
I've bought a bag of bread which marked as £2.99 but they charged me £4.49 in the final bill. I haven't realised this until I checked my bank statement today. For those bread on offer, they tagged a higher price mark and put the discount tag on which makes this store look suspicious. Trust is not easily to be built and the store is crushing mine.
UPDATE:
The store contacted me and refund me with a gift card by post. It’s a nice touch.

👍Great, unique Japanese food👌
d.
Nice food all the classic japanese dish : gyoza, ramen, salmon teriyaki, meat sticks on the gril, sushi, japanese soft drink and alcohol.there is a butcher section as well where you can buy japanese cut style meat or fish There is as well many japanese sweet, chocolate , lollipop. And for finish many japanese kitchen objects like mug, plate, glasses, etc. We’re just missing the manga and we got everything 😂 NB : they sell book as well ! A little bit expensive as expected from white city anyway.
P. W.
Amazing range of foods .... time to taste something different ..!
J. P.
Was disappointed on the first day because of the disorganisation but Ichiba got in touch to make things right and I went again a couple of days later when it was less busy and it was good. Okonomiyaki is very decent as are the octopus balls as well. I'm still not sure about the crowded times but in general, I would recommend.
C. B.
Nice selection of Japanese and other oriental food and drink, but can be quite expensive
S.
To echo the comments of previous people, the organisation was shocking. It took around 40min just to order and probably an hour before we received the food. Overall the food was underwhelming. Shoryu in particular was under par but still the best thing around.
However, the main issue I have is the vast amount of disposable materials being used. Everything from the bowl, cutlery, water cups, and small pots for condiments are all plastic. The only item we didn't throw away was the tray! All the other units in Westfield use real bowls, cutlery, glasses, etc. Ichiba has chosen convenience over responsible packaging. Most places no longer provide plastic straws, yet Ichiba is only using plastic. Why?
H. S.
Large Shop with great choice of Japanese Food and Beverages. Not crowded, relaxed atmosphere.
B. K.
Cafe food was expensive and quality was mediocre. Good selection of food products.
C. D.
Amazing big space - shop and restaurant. Also not just food items in the shop, but also books and gift like items. All items we're relabelled in English which is excellent. Loved the food too. Would come back and recommend
A. Z. W.
Fantastic Japanese store in Westfields London, close to Wood Lane tube station. Great range of fresh and packaged goods, books and equipment as well as a cafe section and a dining cafateria with michelin starred ramen. Well worth a visit.
C. W.
Good selection of Japanese goods and food. Fresh sushi and ramen to take away
S. T.
A wondeful selection of Japanese goods. You can enjoy food at the dining hall or purchase home goods, beauty products and more. The service is always excellent too!
J.
Good service. Good selection of food
v. m.
Despite the number of poor reviews on here, I walked in, bought some drinks and sweets and bought some very good quality prepacked sushi without event. Not cheap, as most stuff is directly imported...a good experience nonetheless.
L. A.
Japanese cuisine. Had a beef Teranyaki with rice dish. Tried to find out from Google what the difference is between Teriyaki (which I had eaten before in Lagos) and Teranyaki. Still unclear to me LOL. I guess more research is needed!
They have an assortment of rice dishes in with options of beef, chicken, octopus, squids etc.
The service was also quick. Nice and clean place.
L. M.
the place to go for all things Japan. The best sushi I've had in a long time.
V. L.
I love this shop. Perfect for anyone a fan of Japanese food and culture.
I normally just pop in for sushi and bakery items. Little but pricey
A. B.
First time I've noticed this place, a bit hidden but have a great range of Japanese goods that is surprisingly cheaper than what you might find in westend. Friendly staff. And for fellow students, 15% discount!
A. B.
Best Japanese shop I've visited. Adapted well to covid with quick and delicious take out options.
J. C.
Since I’ve been in Japan for three weeks this March 2019. I must say their Ramen is quite addicting that almost everyday I eat them. So when I came back, I was craving so I rushed to Ichiba-Westfield At Sheperd’s Bush to eat. Of course I’ve ordered the (Hakata) Tonkotsu Ramen. Yummy!🍜😋
P. M.
Very nice shop, airy lots of light- good food, well laid out .

As I work in Westfield it's great for getting lunch as I love Japanese food, instant noodles for about £1 is always a shout. Service at tills is always a little slow, but the staff are very friendly.
A. P.
What a great place! Really wish we had one of these in Bristol. Tried the sashimi and rice bowl. What value for money, so much fish, and high quality too.
M. S.
Fun to look around. Shoyru ramen noodles were bland compared to restaurant. Queued 10 minutes to order and waited 35 minutes for food so don't come here when you are starving!
Y. H.
Great Japanese eating area in Westfields. Nice and clean, never too busy but I haven't been during the weekend. Portions are reasonable and tasty.
S. R.
Go here about twice a week. Love it. Some things are insane price wise. Like, nuts. But basic sushi and noodles and sake and whatnot are classy and quality.
L. C.
Having had a long day at work my boyfriend and I decided to go try Ichiba for dinner. As I went to collect my meal I embarrassingly dropped my bowl. The cleaners were there straight away to deal with the mess and the managers came over and gave me a replacement bowl of prawn tempura soba (which was delicious). Thank you so much for dealing with the situation professionally!!!
J. H. T.
One of the absolute best Japanese supermarkets in London. A bit expensive, but you'll find a wide array of Japanese foods and others household items here, as well as restaurants.
B. T.
Katsu curry was delicious.
b. i.
Well layed out shop, traveled across london especially for the japanese experience and was disappointed to be out priced by a large margin. I.e £6.99 for 1 litre of pacarri sweat. Rice triangles at £5, personally will avoid the london shop as you need to remortgage even the buy the simplistic of things.
M. M.
Nice, give you a bit of Japan in London, but insanely expensive.
10 pound for a bag of frozen Gyoza made in Poland or 6 pounds for an Asahi that I paid 3 in Wetherspoon.
L. R.
Delicious authentic food and at a decent price.
m. b.
Time for them to go back to normal now but fab Selektion of Asien food frozen fresh and dry
J. L.
Authenticly Japanese just like the malls in and around Asia. Can't think of any other place in Europe that comes close to replicating that experience. Well worth it if you enjoy your ramen and Japanese condiments 👍
T. S.
A fantastic shop with everything! Amazing customer service too!
M. P.
Beautiful Japanese place to indulge in all things Japanese from foods to books.
R. A.
Great selection of Japanese fare. Slightly sweet nd salty flavors -I guess for western tastes. Yummy frozen Kirin beer:-)
J. K.
Great selection of items including strong/zero!
P. P.
Please can we put more sweets and drink
O. Z.
Great selection of sushi
G. P.
It is what it says it is did seam too be quite busy mind
B. N.
Very good , only thing is the prices are high 🗣
K. J. (.
Great selection of shelfed items. hot food and desserts. A little pricey would be my only negative point. Lovely service with a smile.
X. Y. T.
Expensive, but to be expected for Westfield I guess. Authentic tonkotsu ramen!
L. G.
It's very overpriced, but they have some unique imported Japanese goods which I haven't found anywhere else. Food is ok, but not great.
F. O. u.
Absolutely love this place 👌🏾
Definitely a nice chill spot to relax after some serious shopping in Westfield.
The food is great the vibe is great its just great, love the out door seating to.
Well done Ichiba ✨
N.
Excellent selection of Japanese food ingredients and some great homeware. Food court also very good today, however a rather patronising security guard somewhat tainted the experience!
J. Y.
A taste of Japan. Has nice decor, light and bright with a friendly atmosphere. On occasions has live entertainment, very interesting, you'll enjoy it.
A. K.
A wide variety of Japanese groceries as well as a canteen style restaurant serving specialities like takoyaki and okonomiyaki. Good selection of sushi/sashimi as well to take away.
c. l.
Ah the much improved Japan centre now located in haymarket. Its really cool, a larger cafe area, more produce but the prices... Yeah expect to pay import prices.
H. B. p.
Live the Japanese products and so many variety
j. m.
I love this place! You can find nearly anything Japanese! The only detail is the high prices, but I guess is understandable considering they have to import all the way from Japan. Try the dorayaki, they’re TOO GOOD!!
L. L.
Really amazing place. Great for eating or shopping. Really good range of both food and cookware as well as drinks and fresh ingredients. Nice friendly staff.
N. M.
Wide selection of Japanese food/ingredients, alcohol and home goods. The food court is also fairly priced and offers a large variety of delicious options.
R. J.
It's always great to find a Japanese food store. It's also an excellent place to go for lunch, with a decent menu - ramen, bentos, sushi.
I. S.
It has a great variety of Japanese products but it is slightly expensive. Also the food as much as it resembles Japanese cuisine is not as authentic as I'd like it to be.
D. P.
Great place to buy imported Asian ingredients/food/drink
S. S.
So happy that they opened up here finally, as they stock most of the baked goods from Japan. Plus they have a wide selection of dished from Japanese restaurants
T. T.
It was okay, but not excellent. I ordered ramen, but the noodle came lumpy. The smoke from the steak on the
next table smelled like fuel.
R. L.
Ramen is good. Yakitori is okay. Confusing operation on food pick up. Gave me the wrong order twice. Considering this is new business. I will give a a chance.
